Forms :: Change Display Of Field Values On Combo Box
Feb 17, 2015
I'm trying to sort and filter a continuous form. I want to sort by descending and ascending, but I also want to have a combo box for filtering. For example, there a combo box for sorting with Value List as the RowSourceType, the list would be "Ascending" and "Descending", and there should be another combo box to choose the field to be sorted with RowSourceType as Field List from a query.
My field names are: "LastName", "FirstName", "MiddleName". But I want them to appear as "Last Name:, "First Name", "Middle Name". I want to be able to change the display of the field names within my combo box which should come from my query. How is that possible? I already tried to put caption in the properties but it didn't work.
I am working on a school database, today I am working for fee collection form and I am facing trouble. In attachment At the top right area the hidden field I would like here changes according to selecting Fee Type under Fee Detail. I want to achieve this,
If feetype is ABF then Hidden field = 1500110 If feetype is ASF then Hidden field = 1500120 If feetype is EXF then Hidden field = 1500130 If feetype is MTF then Hidden field = 1500140 If feetype is RBF then Hidden field = 1500150
How I can perform this ?
Table structure is (tblstudents) Contain students data (tblFee) Contain, Student Id linked with student table, month, year, amount, date, narratives and FeeType that looup values from FeeType tbl, this hidden field also in tbl fee.
The codes that are 1500100,1500120,1500130
These are necessary for GL entries that's why I must have it on my form. I had as well apply method of Default value but in that case I only present only a single value, but I want that in hidden field values take changes according to the fee type.
I have several buttons on a form and I want to set enabled = false on one of them when I open the form - that's fine
I have two txt fields - ReceiptNo and BankPaymtId if the both have a value I want to make the button enabled = True
This is the code I have used on the BankPaymentId On Dirty event
Private Sub BankPaymentId_Dirty(Cancel As Integer) If Me.[ReceiptNo] <> "" Then If Me.[BankPaymtId] <> "" Then Me.CreateOutlay.Enabled = True End If End If End Sub
This is the one for ReceiptNum on Dirty event
Private Sub ReceiptNum_Dirty(Cancel As Integer) If Me.[ReceiptNo] <> "" Then If Me.[BankPaymtId] <> "" Then Me.CreateOutlay.Enabled = True End If End If End Sub
In the database, there is a table called "Jobs" which sales enquiries are entered into. In this table, there are fields called "JobStatus" which has the default text of "Quotation Pending" and a combo box "JobLive" which is a "yes/no" field. Normally a job will come in as quotation request and the "JobsLive" field will be set to "no".
Occasionally, a job will come in as confirmed from the outset. In this case, the job will be marked as "live" in the combo box "JobLive". Is it possible to change the "JobStatus" field to "Job Live" when this combo box is changed to "yes"?At any other stage, the "JobStatus" field will be changed using an update query as and when changes are made.
So I have a combobox that pulls values from a table. I am being requested to do an update to the database which means that I have to filter some values on that combobox based on a field on a previous form. For example:The main form is called "frmcontacts" and has a table field called "txttypeofcustomer" which can have two values: "customer" or "dealer".
The form that contains the combobox is called "frmnewissue" the combobox is called "cmbissuetype". "frmNewIssue" is opened through a button on "frmContacts". This combobox pulls the values from a table "tblissuetype". The values in that combobox are then: "Repair" "Return" "Question" "Replace".
If the value on txtTypeofCustomer is "Dealer" then all the values for the combobox remain visible. If the value of txtTypeOfCustomer is "Customer" then "Replace" cannot be visible or has to be greyed out.
My intentions are to get my combo box to display data into a field in my form, when it is changed/selection is made. So far my form has the following:
Combobox: CBOCharacters Field: CharacterGender
Both of these are in the same table; tbl_Characters. The data type for CBOCharacters is a number and its called CharacterID in the table.
So far I have created this piece of code:
Private Sub CBOCharacters_AfterUpdate() Me.CharacterGender = DLookup("CharacterGender", "qry_StillNeeded", "[CharacterID]= " & Me.CBOCharacters) End Sub
When I run this event procedure i get an error:
Runtime error '2471'
The expression you entered as a query parameter produced this error '[CharacterID]'
I'm working on a table for work which will serve as a database of bins and the products currently in those bins, as follows:
ID Bin Amt Product 1 34 25 110001 2 33 15 200005 3 32 23 110003 etc.
Basically: employee A will use a form to update "Bin 34" (ID=1), with information (Amt, Product) until it is emptied by employee B and cleared using a separate form. No new records will be made or deleted, just the adjacent fields (Amt, Product) cleared and filled in and cleared again over and over.
What I'm trying to figure out is, when employee A clicks on the combo box on his/her form to select a Bin and enter information, how can I filter what is listed in the combo box to display only those bins which have no values under Amt & Product. The real-world risk of overwriting a bins fields before it has been cleared by employee B (who physically empties the bin) can be extremely high monetarily so I am trying to reduce that risk by eliminating it from the combo box until employee B has cleared those fields.
I have a form with a sub, and that sub has a sub. I'm on the first sub trying to change the rowsource of a combo box on the second sub, and none of the following want to work.
My Combo Box is tied to a table with many entries. When I click on it to display the table values it takes several seconds to display. Is there any way I can "pre-load" the Combo Box (such as on form load, etc.) so when I click on it it displays more quickly? Or is there another way to speed it up?
I had a text box in a contacts DB form for the State field (Named txtState). It worked fine. I decided to replace it with a combo box. Now not only will it not display the existing values, but to rub salt in the wound it won't allow me to select from the drop down list. The error message that says that the field is too small for the value. I tried changing each of the yes/no properties one at a time but none of them change the outcome.
My attendance dB has some last name in lower case and others in all caps base on user input. Is there anyway to make it consistent? Also, please there will be about 250 users scrolling through the name column for attendance. What would you recommend for the most user friendly way to display names? How to create a form that would perhaps allow a button for all last name like "A- C" member name
I have a form that currently uses a "catch all" table for listing available equipment to choose from for an equipment field. I call it tblEquipment. What I want to do is to make it so when I type a name in (1 of 35) in one field of the current record, the record source for the equipment field immediately looks at a different table that has equipment available only for that name. To do this I plan on making 35 different tables with limited data originally found in tblEquipment. I would call these tblEquipment1, tblEquipment2, etc. I do not use a sub form, nor do I want to.
So my questions are:
1) can this be done 2)If it can be done, how can I do it?
Given a table field that is a hyperlink type. I need an Update Query to set all records of that table so that the Displayed Value part of the hyperlink field (not the Address part) is set to a particular value. Any ideas how? Thanks.
I have several comboboxes (6) on my form. How to populate these comboboxes with values depending on selected value in previous combobox.
Example.Lets say that you select value "Audi" in combobox 1, then available values in combobox 2 should be "A4","A6","TT" etc. and if you selected "BMW" in combobox 1, then available values in combobox 2 should be "3-series", "5-series" etc...
Can anyone create a form with a combobox where you can select a form and this form will display in an static area. Then you can choose another form in the combobox and it will display in the same spot. the forms that will be displayed are exactly the same size.
How to set combo box for example doctor name with 2 field which display doctor name and department.
Lets say if i select doctor name : Eric and automatically display doctor department as: Surgery in text box. Then I can save patient record on appointment table.
I'm pretty good with setting up a very simple database such as inventory, profiles, etc.. However I'm creating a database to keep track of a football (soccer) team's players and match statistics. What I have so farsample attached)
Tables: * Players - PlayerID, Fname, Lname, position, goals, assists, etc (all details regarding a player) * Position - Positons (Table containing positions eg: defender. Data is selected in player's form as a combo-box) * Competition - Competition types (Cup, League, Friendly. Data is selected in Match's form as a combo-box * Venue - similar to Competition table * Opponent - Similar to above two tables * Match - MatchID, Competition, Venue, etc (form corresponding to table attached)
Forms: * Player form * Match form
Now as shown in the sample, I choose players using the combo-box. Then whatever stats they had during the match are entered on the fields provided. How to link the player (selected using combo box) to the stat fields (goals, assist, YC, etc).
In a form used to record a sale for a company we have a dropdown box with the contact names for that company and when one is selected it populates other boxes like phone number etc however the combobox brings up all possible contacts but when some of them are selected all the boxes return blank, including the combobox, whereas most of the contacts work fine.
The SQL used for the combobox is as follows..
Code: SELECT tbl_Contacts.ContactTelephone, tbl_Contacts.ContactMobile, tbl_Contacts.ContactEmail, tbl_Contacts.ID_Contact, tbl_Contacts.ID_Company, tbl_Contacts.Salutation & " " & tbl_Contacts.ContactForename & " " & tbl_Contacts.ContactSurname AS MainContact FROM tbl_Contacts WHERE (((tbl_Contacts.ID_Company)=[tbl_CompanyBookings].[ID_Company])) ORDER BY tbl_Contacts.ContactForename;
I have a main form that filters data in a subform based on selections via combo box users make on the main form.
So I have the 'department' and 'manager's name'. If someone selects 'Human Resources' from 'department' combo box, then I only want to see the managers that are in the Human Resources departement when I drop down the combo box for 'manager's name'. Currently I'm seeing all the managers and a user can select a manager that is not in human resources and get no data returned. I prefer for him to get a list of those that are in that department only. The source of the combo box is a query.
I maintain a large database of employees. I have a form with a combo box (cmb_department) which I can use to select a particular department. I have written an After Update event procedure which updates the relevant fields on the form after I've selected a department - e.g. their new manager's name, phone number, etc. based on my departments table.
Here is my code, which works well:
Private Sub cmb_department_AfterUpdate() If (Me.is_leaver = "" Or IsNull(Me.is_leaver)) And (Not IsNull(Me.employee_number)) Then MsgBox "This member of staff is an internal HEY employee. Their departmental details will not change to that of the department, however they can still be set up with GP Browser access."
[Code] ....
However, I'd like to do two things which I'm currently unable to get working...
1. If I delete the department name from the box, or select a NULL value, I get a VBA error - run time error 94, invalid use of Null. I will sometimes want to select a Null value to "unassign" a person from this particular type of department but I'd like a way of selecting a Null value and having it simply set to Null which if the form's default value for this field.
2. As you can see I have a MsgBox which checks to ensure you want to overwrite the existing data for the member of staff. If I select Yes then it overwrites. If I select No I'd like for it to set the value of cmb_department back to the PREVIOUS value. At the moment my script sets it to NULL which doesn't really work - for example, say someone is currently set to the Sales department, and I accidentally click to change them to the Warehouse department, I'd like clicking "No" to revert them back to Sales...
I am currently trying to make a form which will generate a report for the users. Currently the form has 3 combo boxes where users select which fields they want displayed from the table in the report. They also have sorting options next to them (Asc or Desc). I am now trying to put in a multi select list box under each combo box to allow users to filter the report to their liking. Currently I am trying to pull distinct values from the specific field of the table and display them in the listbox for users to select.
I have tried using vba to set me.filter1.rowsource = SELECT DISTINCT me.combo1 FROM EVAP_Database, but this doesnt seem to work. I have also tried a few other codes and still no luck.
I have several result fields which are all drop down lists. I want each result field's drop down list values to be different depending on the selected value of the Test1 drop down list.I came up with using the .rowsource keyword. My syntax seems to be fine but I'm not getting any values under the result fields when I run the form. Here is my code so far:
Private Sub Test1_AfterUpdate() If Me.Test1 = "Stress Echo" Or Me.Test1 = "Stress SPECT" Or Me.Test1 = "Stress PET" Or Me.Test1 = "Stress MRI" Then Me.Test1Result2.RowSourceType = "Value List" Me.Test1Result3.RowSourceType = "Value List"
I have an issue with a couple of my combo boxes. When in form mode the drop down menu displays a list of options (taken from my source table), this is fine, but the problem is that it allows the user to select more than one of the options in the form of checkboxes. This is not what I intended.
I've attached to pictures to demonstrate the problem. The first is ComboBoxQuery (the one with the problem) and the second is ComboBoxQueryWorkign (the one without a problem).
I'm not sure why this is happening and I've tried comparing all the properties of both these combo boxes and changing some of them to see if I can eliminate the problem without any joy.
I use a very standard SELECT statement to pull the data for the combo box:
SELECT CountryID, CountryName FROM tblCountryInfo ORDER By CountryName
