Forms :: Change Subform Default View

Apr 25, 2014

I have a mainform with a listbox and a subform sitting in the mainform. The default view of mainform is single. The listbox displays a list of people. When the user clicks on a row of the listbox the subform shows detailed data about that person. The layout of the subform covers almost half of the area of the mainform. It works except that the subform automatically takes table view as if there were many records to display although it displays only the selected record. This automatic manipulation of the default view does not look good at all.

Modules & VBA :: Change Default View Property Of Subform

Feb 26, 2014

I have a form with a subform where I want to select (via button) which format to open the form in. Opening the form is simple, DoCmd.OpenForm (FormName),acFormDS to open in datasheet, however, the subform opens in default view (single form). Can you programmatically set the property on the subform to change the Default View from Single Form to Datasheet and back?

Forms :: Textbox Refresh - Getting Default Value To Reappear When Change Criteria

Jun 4, 2014

I am using a DLookup to default a value in my TextBox. This text box has an event attached to it that updates a table when a different value is entered.

I am having difficulty in getting the default value to reappear when I change my criteria.

For instance Manufacturer is Ford

Colour is default Black

I Change the colour to red

now I change Manufacturer to Audi

I need Default colour to go back to Black

The Lookup Table says Black its just that the default value only seems to run once, first time in and never again unless i exit the database and reopen it.

I have tried adding

Form.Repaint
form.Refresh
Form.Requery
to my afterupdate query

Forms :: How To Change Column Widths In Datasheet View

Jan 2, 2014

I am using Access 2013 (but I assume that the solution for Access 2010 will apply).

Here is the situation:

1. I have a simple datasheet form with three columns

2. I need to adjust the column widths so that all the text is visible

3. When I adjust the column widths, save the form, close the form, and re-open the form, the column widths reset

4. I need the column widths to either 1) stay the same as they previously were, or 2) be wide enough to fit all the text in each field

Forms :: Button To Change Form From View To Edit

Mar 12, 2014

I have created a form in Access 2010 that opens in view only mode. I do this as I do not want data being changed in error. There are times when the user may need to edit some data on the form.

Any way to place an "Edit" button on the form that allows the user to edit the current record? I thought about creating two sepasrate forms, but I really don't want to maintain two of them.

Forms :: Default Value For Subform Text Box

Jul 25, 2013

I have a mainform and a datahseet subform.

Mainform = FrmProj_ProjectEntry
Subform = FrmProj_ProjectEntry_Sub1

On my mainform I have a text box (FrmProj_ProjectEntry.txtDueDt) where I enter an expected date.
On my subform I also have a textbox (FrmProj_ProjectEntry_Sub1.txtDueDt) for entering an expected date.

I would like the entered date on the mainform to become the default expected date on the subform for new records only. Once records are created the expected date can then be changed for each record.

How would I achieve this on an after update event on FrmProj_ProjectEntry.txtDueDt?

Forms :: Subform With Datasheet View

Oct 31, 2014

I have recently added a subform to a form and wish to display the subform in Datasheet view. Whilst I can get the proper data and headings to display, I cannot figure out how to get the column widths to persist. I can adjust the column widths while in (main) form view right on the subfirm columns themselves but after I save and reload the main & subform form, the widths revert to some sort of default value.

I have also tried adjusting the columns in the subform's associated data table itself as well as adjusting the text box widths when the subform is displayed in Form view but it does not affect the column widths when the subform displays Datasheet view.

What is more annoying is that I have another subform in which I was able to make the Datasheet view column widths persist but I don't seem to be able to properly recall how I did it.

Forms :: Column Order In Subform Datasheet View

Nov 22, 2014

I have a subform in which I display a table in Datasheet View. The problem is, I cannot figure out how to place the columns in the order (i.e. from left to right) I want.

For some reason, right-clicking on a column header in Form View and selecting Freeze Fields will shift that column to the left but I can find no consistent pattern to it and no other way of shifting a column. Reordering the columns in the table itself seems to have no effect on the order they appear on the subform and moving the controls around in the subform in Design View also seems to have no effect.

Forms :: Design Changes Not Reflected In Subform Datasheet View

Aug 15, 2013

I have a subform whose design I am trying to change. When I make changes such as moving fields or adding fields the changes appear in form view (and layout view), but not in datasheet view. However, if I delete fields, the changes appear in both form and datasheet view.

This situation results in behavior where I can have the subform open in design view and toggle back and forth between design and datasheet view, and they are different. However, toggling between design and form view shows the changes as having taken effect.

Forms :: Default Entry Into Subform Based On Data Entered In Main Form

The subdivision number, block number and lot number are normally part of the Parcel ID number but sometimes they can be different. I want the sub form to fill in the Subdivision number, block number, and lot number as a default but allow the user to change the value if needed. currently the sub form will only show what is entered into the table itself if a change is made on the main form the sub form does not reflect the change.

How Do I Show The Subform As Form View Instead Of Datasheet View

I have seen that in some sample db's rightclicking the mouse showed the menu with an option to check or uncheck the dataview option, unchecked the formview was applied, but when i 'just' import the subform, i cannot find somewhere the possibility to change from dataview to formview.

Maybe someone can help me with this, probably very simple(?), question?

Ideally, it would also work for new entries in the StockArtProduction_Subform, but the StockArtProduction form would have to "auto populate" (did I use it right?) with the ID of the currently open Project form.

Forms :: Change A Subform To A Popup Form

Sep 24, 2013

I had a subform to enter payments. It worked well. The master and child fields linked well and all the necessary data appended to a new record in the payments table.

Now to make it more user friendly, I changed the subform to a popup form (The 2 forms took up too much real estate on the screen).I deleted the payments subform and created a command button to open the payments form as a popup.

I need 3 fields on the payments form to be populated from the edit sponsor form (sponsorID, MemberID, SponsorTypeID) and then payment details to be entered and posted to a new record in the payments table.Since I've changed the payment form from a subform to a popup form, the master/child relationships are gone and the 3 fields I need for the payment record no longer appear.
