Forms :: Checkbox Based On Status - Updating A Text Field
Mar 8, 2013
My database has a text field "Status" where the text is either, A, W, C. There is a form to update this field; currently it uses a standard Access created text field. The users want a checkbox which will show up as checked when the status is W, if the status is anything else, the checkbox will be blank. If the user clicks the checkbox within the form the status will be changed to W.
If [table.status] = 'W'
then checkbox = 0
else
checkbox = -1
In an access form, I have several checkboxes. There is one checkbox titled "Complete". The complete checkbox needs to be true only if all other "non master" checkboxes are true. If all of the non master checkboxes are not checked, I need the complete checkbox to be false. This is the code that I am currently using on the after update command:
If me.checkbox1 and Me.checkbox2=True then me.completed=True else me.completed=False end if
This works fine if there is no "and" in the if statement and the condition is based on the status of one checkbox as opposed to many (Also I have about 15 checkboxes that must be checked before the "complete" checkbox is true).
I have a question regarding counting of text values base on their status and using that result to a calculation.
Say, I have a table of Demand of Positions, wherein, I have a specific Job Title for a certain Department that have number of workers needed (demand quantity) and a table of candidates for that job title and their status, say, Arrived, Visa Processing, Visa Applied, Visa Issued, and With Ticket.
What I would want is to make a summary out of the two tables, where the query will count how many candidates are there in that specific job title and have a field of status say, field of Count of Arrived, Count of Visa Processing and etc., and a field where I can add all of the count of candidates per status and deduct the result to the demand quantity where that field would be named Balance.
The problem is that the status varies on every candidate on that specific job title because the status field is used to track the progress of each candidate and this scenario will make the query blank because there would be no such record due to their status.
I tried making a summary following my requirement and you will see that in the attached file together with the SQL code of that query that the balance field value is blank.
I am trying to create a login form with the following three basic fields:
txtUsername cboUsertype txtPassword
I would like to be able to populate cboUsertype with User types associated to the user I type into txtUsername. I have found many useful tutorial on the web on login procedures. How ever I hardly found anything on how to populate a combobox after updating a texfield. It bis more than a week that I am trying to find a solution but until now I have just been . I would be grateful if you could provide me with either a link on the web or a vb code to make it work.
I have a form that contains a combo box (cboEmployeeName) that pulls data from a query and populates three text boxes (Work Area, Last Name, First Name), This part works fine. Because the text boxes are being populated by the Combo box, they are not bound to the record source tblTrainingSchedule). I need the info that is in the text boxes to populate the respective fields in the record source.
I tested by adding "=tblTrainingSchedule!WorkArea=[cboEmployeeName].Column(3)" (column 3 is the work area) to the "after update" control but it does not populate the data.
I have a form with three items:a checkbox called "Check231", a textbox called "text921" and another textbox called "text762".
What I wish to do is: Enter text in textbox921, which stays the same as I scroll through each record. Then If checkbox check231 is checked, it displays text from textbox921 to textbox762. Textbox762 is bounded to the form.
I have a subform with two fields [status] and [process], i am trying to get the backcolor of procces to change to red if the status field contains the text "expired".
I have tried vba. plced on the after update
if me.status = "expired" then me.process.backcolor = vbred else me.process backcolor = vbwhite end if this
Changes the color of the field [process] but also all process field colors to red even if the status field does not contain "expired".
I think conditional formatting is the way to go but i think i need an expression to complete this.
I need to design a query that contains about a dozen fields for stationery items along with another dozen fields (checkboxes) to show whether these items were delivered (Yes, I know, not great db design).
I ran out of space with the the query criteria window.
I have started work on a database to track the many (several hundred per annum) projects my company undertakes. A 'main' table lists projects, their fees, their key dates, their project numbers, etc. I have created another table for tasks. Each task is assigned to a project (via the project number), and may be 'open' or 'closed'. I have separated the tasks table from the projects table as there may be several different tasks for each project. It is also good to keep a record of the tasks.
I want to prepare a report from the projects table that lists projects IF they have any open tasks.
In my mind, this means 'If a task, with the corresponding project number, is open, put a 'Yes' in the 'Tasks open' field of the Projects table.'
I am having problem on formatting text on a report based on a Yes/No field using Conditional Rules Manager in Access 2010. When adding a rule [field name] = Yes the font color does not change. I have tried setting the expression to [field name] = True and still does not change the color. Adding a Yes or True in query works OK.
I have a table named ColorValues with the following three fields:
- ID - MunsellCode - RGBValue
30 fields from another table called Color_Analysis are linked to the above with one to many relationships (I've already thought of other ways to normalize data, but this is the most efficient, so no need to go into this topic).
Now, I've constructed a form for Color_Analysis and all 30 fields recording color are included as combo boxes bounded on the ID in ColorValues and displaying the MunsellCode for the user. I've also created unbounded text fields next to the combo boxes and want to use them to display the color that the user selected in the ComboBox. The question is how do I do this?
Essentially I need a piece of code that picks up the value of the combo box (this is essentially the ID in ColorValues), looks up that value in the ID column of the ColorValues table and uses the corresponding RGBValue of the same table as the .BackColor for the unbounded text field.
I am trying to get the text in a couple text boxes to turn green if a certain Yes/No field is left blank.
I know the conditional formatting is working, because condition 1 and 3 are working fine (those expressions are referencing text fields).
I would like to have Condition 2 look at [DM_Approval] from the bound query and if it is unchecked, execute the conditional formatting.
I've tried all kinds of statements, but i'm starting to think that the expressions in the conditional formatting window just won't work when referencing a yes/no field.
Specifically (at the very least) i know i tried [DM_Approval]=False, [DM_Approval]=No, [DM_Approval]=0, and [DM_Approval] is null.
In a form is there a way to change sort order based on which field is active?
I'm using a Split Form which gives me the ability to sort by clicking on the header name ans selecting sort. This slowing things done since my workload is heavy.
I have a field 'Payment Types' with values (Cash, Cheque, Debit/Credit Card) and a field 'Payment Received' which is Yes/No.
When putting the order through the user selects the payment type and ticks a box if payment has been received.
On a report for delivery drivers, the owner wants it simple for the driver... he wants all the payment types listed with a checkbox next to each one, then wants the appropriate box ticked if payment has been received.
So I need something on the report (or underlying query) which ticks the appropriate box, i.e.
If payment received = true then payment type checkbox = true.
Or should I put the payments into a separate table with both fields so multiple payment types can be marked as paid?
I have several buttons on a form and I want to set enabled = false on one of them when I open the form - that's fine
I have two txt fields - ReceiptNo and BankPaymtId if the both have a value I want to make the button enabled = True
This is the code I have used on the BankPaymentId On Dirty event
Private Sub BankPaymentId_Dirty(Cancel As Integer) If Me.[ReceiptNo] <> "" Then If Me.[BankPaymtId] <> "" Then Me.CreateOutlay.Enabled = True End If End If End Sub
This is the one for ReceiptNum on Dirty event
Private Sub ReceiptNum_Dirty(Cancel As Integer) If Me.[ReceiptNo] <> "" Then If Me.[BankPaymtId] <> "" Then Me.CreateOutlay.Enabled = True End If End If End Sub
I have a query that gets it's data from tblContacts. In this table is a yes/no field for archiving and the query gets only those records with a No in the field. The default is no. Next I have a form based on this query, which I am using to hold a set of command buttons which act on a contact chosen from an unbound list. So far so good but now I would like to add a command that changes the contact's status in the archived field of the table to Yes, so that I can use the form to view/edit, or email, or archive.
I'm looking to create a "Same As Billing Address" check box that would automatically udpate the address in an order to reflect the customer's billing address.
I understand how to sync a combo box to an option group ( -- great article by the way)
I Guess what I'm looking to do is:
1. Sync a "Same As" Checkbox to multiple text boxes in the form (Unit, StreetAddress, City, Province, Postal) such that these fields are UPDATED (writen to) with the same information as the billing address
2. [U]IF the "Same As" Option is selected, I need the updated fields to lock, allowing no further update... but must by unlocked if the "Same As" option is NOT selected.
Please help me out with this one guys.. I really need it.
I have 2 tables both linked to SQL Server 1 has policy information and the other has error information both tables are linked with the relationship policy Ref. The error table(table2) has fields Pol ref, Error_Type,error, Comments, response_comments and response_Date.
There are 25 types of error so what I have done is copy all fields from table 2 25 times exlcuding the policy ref and Error_Type but to make them relate to the relevent error I need to setup some VBA code that does an if Error1_checkbox is ticked then make Error_Type ="error1" and Error=1 else if error1_checkbox is unticked then make error_type null(blank).
Using Access 2010. Fairly new to automation and macros.I have two tables (tblProductReceived and tblBins) and a form (frmProductReceived).A field in tblBins corresponds to a location the bin is at (named BinLocationID) and the tblProductReceived table tracks product that a specific bin has received.
What I need is for the tblProductReceived field PRLocationID ([tblProductReceived].[PRLocationID]) to be automatically populated with where the bin is at ([tblBins].[BinLocationID]) when selecting a specific bin in the form (frmProductReceived).
I'm having a hard time with this (what I thought) was a simple filter. I have an unbound checkbox (chkFlag) and an unbound text box (txtfilter). The filter was working fine till I decided to also try to filter on the checkbox.
I'm trying to filter records that either have either a check in the [Flag] field or have some part of the text in various other fields. The problem is I can get the records to filter if the checkbox is checked or on text in the various fields, but not both. I've tried using AND and OR, but it's not working.
Currently we track areas of non-conformance for a fleet of flight simulators. Each flight simulator has a particular ID number. In some instance an area of non-conformance is associated with a single simulator, at other times it is a fleet wide issue and applies to all or some simulators. In order to track as well as advise leadership and the contractor responsible for maintenance of the simulators of the situation we generate individual response letters.
In order to track each instance of non-conformance my idea was to create a new record for each deficiency. In the event that it is applicable to multiple simulators I would like to fill out the form with all pertinent data and then place a checkbox associated with each simulator and when the record is saved, it creates one record for each simulator with a checkbox ticked.
Once the deficiency on each simulator is fixed, I would check a box for a field called rescinded, which would remove that particular deficiency on that particular simulator from the active list of deficiencies but the others would still remain because they are associated with unique records.
Is there a way in a query (using SQL) to go to the first record to update a field based on a criteria ? For example if my amount field shows two amounts for $300.00 I want to go to the first record that has $300.00 to update a field in that record.
