May 20, 2015Is it possible to make a form where you have two textboxes to search a table and show the search results in a list under the textboxes? Also making the list items clickable?

Nov 30, 2013I just have a question on making an interface for my database.Some sample databases and office templates have in them, a list of the names of all the records embedded directly on a form, where you can navigate from one record being displayed to another.
An example is in the contacts database template that you can get from Microsoft. It features, on the left, a list of the names of all the people in your database, alphabetically. So, all you have to do is click on John Smith, and bam, John's information will appear in the fields on the right side of the form. If you want to move to Claire Jones, all you have to do is click her name and her information will appear in the fields on the right.

May 18, 2015I have 3 text fields on a form that I search by. I have the search query action set on a button, which produces the results in a datasheet view. Is there any way that I can make the records in the datasheet view clickable so I can select the record and go to the form to update the data?

I also have a button that run the query qrySearchForm .how am I going to make the query run successfully with multiselect listbox ? I understand that there are a lot of examples of the vba code for multiselect but that is only for multiselect alone and not like my search form that combine textbox and multiselect listbox.

Mar 14, 2013I have a button placed on a form, but it is only clickable a few pixels along the bottom of the button. If you hover anywhere above this, the button is not clickable and does not highlight as if it is clickable.
I have deleted the offended button and recreated it, but the same strange behavior occurs?
If I move the button up a few pixels or more, then the clickable area shifts to the top of the button and the bottom becomes unclickable.
The buttons are in the header of the form and is completely visible when the form is in normal form view. I also can not see anything that could be sitting ontop of the button (no transparent controls or anything) that could be obscuring it.

Oct 15, 2014I have used John Big Bootys Dynamic Search Form, however to search on the fields I want I have created a query which has mutiple tables and when I get a duplicate value in the search box, i.e. in Client, there are 2 client "A"s and when I click on one it automatically chooses both.From here I want to create a double click event to open that records in a form, but I can't if it defaults to both records.

Aug 7, 2013I'm relatively new to Access 2010. I have an excel spreadsheet that I've converted into an access table for the purposes of creating a user friendly form for the end user to search for relevant criteria to retrieve a list of records that fit the requests. There are two main search functions: unbound keyword search (90+ keywords), and either a series of checkboxes or one list box that lists specific countries/regions matched in a column (columns, as I will get to shortly). The region selection is bound by a selection of 15 countries.
The key is each record can correspond to more than one country. This, one record can have "Belgium, Germany, brazil" and the next record can just have "brazil". Thus if someone selects brazil, the query must retrieve the Belgium Germany brazil record in addition to the record that covers just brazil. I've tried to do this with a concatenated column that list all countries and a text box search, I've tried to do this with individual checkbox columns for each country with checkboxes in the search form...and I can't get it to work. I don't fully understand the criteria to set for checkboxes or list boxes. What would be the best way to build this form, an how?
Form Search Combobox - Not In List Message
Jan 24, 2007When you use a combobox to search values in the form - and someone searches for a value that isn't there - the form just defaults to the first entry. Is there a way of putting a message box that says "This is a new patient" (or something like that). The NotInList event doesn't work - any ideas??

Nov 18, 2004I am trying to create a window in access that will have about 30 different boxes that the user of the database can choose from to click on and automatically sort the information in both a Form and Sub-form, and display the information for the User. Frankly this is a little beyond my means, and I need to know where to get started. I have good knowledge of Access but I don't have much experience when it comes to programming in commands and such. Clickable Items Within A Query?
Nov 3, 2013I currently enter data onto a form which all works fine, when i view the data as a query in dataset view that is fine to, however i have seen a query in a sample database that allows you to click on an item within the query and it takes you to the input form where the details were first stored. Its just what i need but cannot work out how its done. The sample database does not allow you to view the properties so i cannot work it out for myself.

Forms :: Create Search Form That Returns Subset Of Other Form Pages?
Sep 25, 2013I've built a PostgreSQL database for some ecology data and am trying to use MS Access 2010 to make a front-end for it.
I've created a form to display site data; it includes such fields as site ID, site name, county, state, landscape, etc. (There are more, but if I can get the idea down with a couple of these, I should be good to handle the rest). One can click through the form and see 14 pages of site details, which is fine because there are 14 sites.
What I want to do now is make a search form in which one can enter values for site ID, site name, county, etc, and somehow get the pages of the display form that match those values. It's not terribly important to me how that output looks - whether it's a list of matches that allows for clicking on a match and showing just one page of the display form, or whether it's a filtered subset of the display form pages that one still clicks through to view them all.
if there is code to write, where do I type it? Do I start my search form by making a form with the search fields as values, or is there some other way? How do I make those search fields into search boxes rather than display boxes?

On their right side there are two buttons (btn1, btn2) to open a form called frmAirportSearch. It allows to choose (from a listbox) the airport to be filled in those two textboxes.
Now, if I search for an airport pressing btn1, I want the airport to be returned into txtAptDep, while if I open the form by btn2, the airport choosen must be returned in the second textbox.

Mar 20, 2014What I would like to do is create a list box that will only display the information from another form that is related to the current form.So I have a form call Equipment Catalog and that form is related to Equipment features 1 to M relationship and the Equipment Features is related to a Features form M to 1.
So what I want to do is display all the related equipment features in a listbox that is related to the current PK of that form.So if there is only one feature on one form the list box will only display that one item however is there is 6 features on another it will display all 6.I have been trying SQL and Queries but I still can't get it to work.

May 15, 2014I have a form that shows details of a record. I have a command button to open associated records in another form in DS view. My code will open the DS and show all records or filtered to specific record.
What I would like to do is use code on command button to open DS view and simply highlight (find) the record that was being viewed in the first form.
Main Form = frmBroachBase
DS Form = frmBroachBaseDS
Associated fields on both forms are - [AutoID], [BroachID] - that can be used to link the two forms.

Sep 12, 2014I am trying to create a search box in Access 2010 inside a form. I have managed to create a search using the 'Surname', but what I am unable to do is to factored in multiple records with the same surname.
Currently, the search field sits within the Form Header bar. I enter the surname or part of surname and click the command button which searches. Using MoveFirst and FindFirst, it jumps the form for the first record that matches (or partially matches).
However, there will be occasions where there will be more than one record that matches. What I want to do is to be able to jump to the first record, but if thats not the one I am looking, if you click search button again, it jumps to the next matching records etc... until I hit the I want?
I have tried the MoveNext, Previous, Last commands, but they dont work. Any quick fire coding out there?

When I type the letter "i" as the first letter in the 'Search For' box, I get the following error:"Microsoft Office Access can't move the focus to the control SearchResults"..Also, when I type "i", it shows up in the box as "I" and is the only letter that does this.

When the user selects an option in the option box, "FilterListBox" is updated to either "1", "2" or "1 or 2"..One of the fields in the query for "lstCustomer" is "CustomerType" and its criteria is set as follows:
[Forms]![frmPrintHowCustomersPaidInvoice]![FilterListBox]
if "FilterListBox" = 1 the query for "lstCustomer" returns the correct records
if "FilterListBox" = 2 the query for "lstCustomer" returns the correct records
But if "FilterListBox" = 1 or 2, no records are returned.
Forms :: Search Bar Is Only Looking At Current Form And Not At Records
Jan 9, 2014I have several forms in a navigation form. On all the forms, the little search bar at the bottom shows # of 103 records. On my navigation form it shows 1 of 1 and won't allow me to search.It would seem that the search bar is only looking at the current form and not at the records.
