View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question about for combobox. I have a field from my tables that a text only then I make in the look up property field to become combobox then row "source type is a value list" then,"Allow value list edits, I make it Yes". then in the form its possible for me now to add value list in the combobox. but I want that what ever I input to become a value list, that's all they can select for the value of that field. if they can type or add not listed in the value list I input, it will not possible & there's a msgbox will appear mentioning the "the value you input is not in the list..
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Form created for Hardware Allocation.
I have following Fields. Allocation ID(PK), HW ID, User ID, HW Status, Assigned Date.
Values of HW Status = Active, Inactive, Decom, In Stock etc.
What I want is explaind below example
HW XXX is allocated to User ABC and the Status is Active.
Now When I want to reallocate the same HW XXX to Another User XYZ then Make the current status as Active. But before doing that the form should force me to change the Status of previous allocated to user ABC to anything other than active. Because One Device can be active to only one user at a time.
i,e Combination of HW ID & HW Status(Active Only) should not be duplicated.
I have a form that allows the user to select a record in a combo box. When this selection is made I want a 2nd form to open and give the user a place to enter additional info about that item selected. I have the forms working correctly but now I would really like to add the 2nd form to the first form as a subform but when I try this I get the message"The expressing is typed incorrectly or is too complex to be evaluated..." There are no fields on the first form that link directly to the 2nd form - because the combo box in an unbound combo (the selection in the combo box is what the 2nd form opens base on) I tried to add this as a subform with no parent/child info and I get the message stated.
I was hoping to make the 2nd form not visible until the selection was made in the combo box then make it visible for the info to be entered. Would really like it to be on the same form not as a separate form opening.I believe I just found that the reason for the message. It seems not to be a subform problem but is because the selection in the combo box needs to be made BEFORE the form can open. So now the question is - how can I make this a subform and avoid this error when the main form first opens. I will test the visibility and see if not visible until the selection clears this up.
I have a combo box that get its values from another table the problem i am having is when a user don't see the info they have in the combo box then enter the new data into the combo box field but it don't update my table with the entered values. How can i fix this to update my table if the user add new data in the combo box field.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a subform in a form that has a Combo Box that is linked (not sure is that is the correct term) to a field called PartID in a table containing a list of Parts. The list show the Name of the Part (PartName) and other fields.
This all works great except that it allows the user to change the text in the Name of the Part (PartName) field directly from the Combo Box!!!! I really don't want this to be able to happen.I have the "Limit to List = Yes" but it still allows the user to change the value...The "Allow Value List Edits = No"...
I have created a simple database, with 2 x tables. The first is a 'Week Ending' table, with a dateid key and Week Ending field. I have created several week-ending dates in order for a user to input details of work done the previous week. The second table contains the details of the work.
I have a one to many relationship between the dateid in the first table, and a dateid of the work details table.
I created a query based on the work details table, and created a subform from that. In a main form I linked a combo box to allow a user to select a date and the relevant work details appear in the subform. However the Week Ending field only shows one date, not a list of the dates I created.
How do i restrict the user from entering anything other then the drop down list values?
thank you!

After migration to MS Access 2010 64-bit I have a problem with filtering data on tables. Ex.
1. In Access was created table "product" with field "name"
2. When I will to filter data by field "name" I don't have use any keywords as: in, like, '.'
3. I thing that problem is with reserved SQL query words
I built a database off of the access wizard and it gives me the capability to enter date parameters before running my reports, than displaying the revised report. I.E. I am prompted to enter start and finish dates, and then after entering this info and hitting a button to preview the report, the only data displayed is that that falls into that date range.
I have created a new report that wasn't built into the wizard. This report "hits" an underlying query. I have also added a button on the switch manager to preview the report. I want a user to be able to click that preview report item on the switch manager, then be prompted to enter start and finish date information, then hit an ok button, then have the report with the relevant information displayed.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I am building a form in access and I am trying to find a way where user input isn't possible in the associated textbox when "No" from on option box is selected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis application has worked fine in the past, but now I find it stops cold saying a particular linked table is read-only. I've looked around and all I can find in the various forums is how to MAKE a table read-only. Reversing that process seems very difficult.
The application is a copy of another that now exhibits the same problem. Each uses a different data mdb - part of the development I'm doing involves changing a different table. I'm developing changes to the application in this separate copy.
I can't tell if other tables would have this problem - the table in question is the very first used (initialization routine) and I can't get past it without deactivating a bunch of code.
Hello,
I'm stuck! I want to create a form which has a combo box where you select
someone's name, and their address appears in another text box on the same form. The names and addresses are in a table called "cardholders".
I'm doing separate combos for first name, surname cos I think that's the only
way you can do it.
The fields in the table are credit_add, credit_name & credit_surname. The combos are called "cardholder name" "cardholder surname" etc. This is the code in the text box where I want the address to appear:-
=DLookUp("[credit_add]","cardholders","[credit_name] = '" & [cardholdername] & "' And [credit_surname] = " & [cardholdersurname])
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
I have a AUCTION form, it has a combo box and the label for this combo box is called seller. This combo box is a look up to the USER table which has the following fields:
uid, uname, city, state
The combo box is pulling and displaying a drop down list of uname from the USER table, with this SQL state in the "row source".
Code:
SELECT user.uname FROM [user] ORDER BY user.uname;
In the control source of this combo box I have seller, and the form's record source is AUCTION, tagging on the AUCTION table.
The problem is the form is putting the uname into the AUCTION table's seller field, but I want it to input the uid field, however that it should still show the uname list when the user click on the combo box to make a selection.
I managed to create a report by user using a combo box. When an user selects a name from the combo box, it generates a report showing all the records by that name.
However, now I need to be able to generate a report as above but between 2 dates. How??
I am having two sets of criteria.
1) by user
2) between 2 dates
Can this be done?

I have a bound combo box that has a query as a row source, The query has 3 fields called from tblMasterItems, The ItemID , ItemDesc and ItemSupplier(related to the PK of tblSupplier).
Column Count = 3
Column Width = 0";1";0"
If I do not put a criteria under ItemSupplier, the combo box behaves just fine. The problem happens when I set the criteria under ItemSupplier, the criteria being the supplier ID, the combo box no longer expands and searches as you type, but the items in the combo box have been filtered and are there.
Summary:
When the row source qry ItemSupplier Field does not have a criteria, cbo works just fine.
When the row source qry ItemSupplier has a criteria, cbo no longer expands and searches as you type, but has the filtered data showing if you hit the expand button (that arrow pointing down in the cbo)
I have a combo box which gets its values from sql server using a query which is called "get_query_reason", which works fine. Now I want to update combo box values based on a user selection, st string. Have written the code, but does not work:
Dim qDef As QueryDef
Dim Query As String
Dim st As String
Dim rs As Recordset
st = "SOV"
Set qDef = CurrentDb.QueryDefs("get_query_reason")
[Code]....
I have a user form with six different dropdown boxes. I would like to create a query that gets its criteria from users selecting values from one or more of these boxes.
I have tried:
[forms]![frmName]![comboboxname] or [forms]![formName]![comboboxname] is null
in the corresponding query fields and get a "query is too complex" error message, even when only selecting one criteria.
What am I doing wrong?
I use filter Combo boxes in a lot of places so that users can filter records easily. (Not combo boxes for input).I have them labeled as filters but nonetheless users keep trying to input into them for some reason. How would I add a message box to it so that it states that 'this box is not for data entry etc'.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a form which filters a report based off of combo boxes selected by the user. The code I'm using currently is:
Code:
DoCmd.OpenReport "rptProgramAttendees", acViewReport, , "ProgramIDFK = " & cboProgramTitle
This works great to return a report if the user selects something from the combo box. How do I adapt this so that the user can also leave the combo box blank and filter the report to return all records?Additionally, what if I want to have the user filter between dates selected on the form; i.e. between 'txtStart' and 'txtEnd'
I am developing a small database for use in a multi-user environment: I have split the tables off and am testing with two copies of the front-end on different machines. All seems to work well except on one form.
On this form, the value of a bound control (exposed as a number of radio buttons) is used to make related controls on the form visible or invisible. I use the AfterUpdate event to trigger appropriate VBA code to accomplish this; it works well.
However if two users have the same form open at the same record (unlikely, but not impossible), and User A changes the value of the control via the radio buttons, Access will eventually propagate the change to User B's copy of the form but the AfterUpdate event will not be triggered and the form becomes inconsistent. I understand that events are only triggered when a user makes a change to a control; how can I be alerted when Access makes a change?
I have a database for mutli users which is split. Front end is available separately for 3 users. These users make data entry in the same form from their front end form. This particular form has combo box that retrieves data based on selection in combo box and the use starts filling the data in the subform. Upto this, form is Ok, no problems seen.
But when the second user opens the same form from the split database front end stored in his computer, and once the second user selects another record from the combo box, first user's record also changes immediately to the record of Second user. Both users now have the same record even though the form is separately accessed from front end.
I'm working on a database at the moment with a fairly large dataset. I've used "between" functions and created date range boxes to filter query's to specific date ranges which has worked perfectly for queries. Is it possible to have something similar with forms?
The reason i needed to move away from query results onto forms is the ability to have an on click event to goto individual record which wasn't possible from the query results. I moved my query's across to forms which worked well except for the loss of selectable date ranges.
