Forms :: Combo Box Search To Include Records That Equal And Larger Than
Dec 3, 2013
I have a DB of books and a form to search for multiple fields including ranking (combo box). The way I have it now is to pick "3 stars", "4 stars", "5 stars". What I want to do is have it so that if I pick "4+", it will show all records that have 4 stars and 5 stars and "3+", it will show records with 3, 4, 5 stars.
I'm having a problem with my database filesize getting larger with the more searches i do. At first i couldn't figure out how it was getting so big, but then i tried a few things and came to the conclusion that every time i do a search it increases its filezile.what made me notice this at first is that the file size of the original copy of my db is 13MB, but if i Save As a different name, like Assets_Backup, then the size of the new file is only 2MB, and after i do some searches it increases again.here is a file with just my search form and search query so you can see the code for them. i removed everything else to shrink the file down, which also made the search form not function properly, but i thought the design and code might be enough.is there something that i can change to keep it from remembering every search?thanks for any help.--------------------after searching the topic a bit more i've found that compacting the database will shrink it down to 2MB, but is this something that will have to be done on a regular basis, or is there a way for it to do it on its own?
I have a form with a combobox whose list items are taken from a table of currencies (called tblCurrencies)
Row Source = SELECT [tblCurrencies].[Ccy] FROM tblCurrencies ORDER BY [Ccy];
Problem is, there may come a time when the currency they want to select is not yet part of the tblCurrencies table, and needs to be added. For simplicity, I'd like to have an additional option in the dropdown (perhaps at the bottom) to specify a new currency. So an additional list item (e.g. 'Add New...') which when selected could prompt a subform where the user could specify the new currency (and any other relevant details specific to that currency) which can be programmatically added to tblCurrencies.how do I get that extra option into the list items for the combobox?...
I have a search combo box to search for a field on my form. But it just goes to that particular record. The combo box is for client id and it has more than one record. How can I have it return just the records pertaining to the client id choosen in the combo box.
I'm trying to incorporate a combo box in my form to navigate through records. The plan is to select a piece of equipment listed in the combobox, and that record will then be displayed as an "after update" action.
However, I have tried through coding I have tried before and utilising the wizard to create this combo-box, but each time I get a "Complie Error - Can't find project or library".
The section of code is shown below:
Private Sub Combo227_AfterUpdate() ' Find the record that matches the control. Dim rs As Object
Set rs = Me.Recordset.Clone rs.FindFirst "[EquipmentID] = " & Str(Nz(Me![Combo227], 0)) If Not rs.EOF Then Me.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark End Sub
I have a database with over 100k records and I want to use a combo box to search for records by typing in the name. I found code to do this at: [URL] .....
This is working, however i have many fields on the form that I want to populate from the table after the search. Right now only the 3 fields from my rowsource combo box populate.
In my select statement do I need to SELECT * (all) and then populate the fields that way, or is there a way to populate from the table based on the ID of the record that is found?
Hello, I would like to show records in my query only if records in raw a and b are equal and they have same question id. Please let me know if you can help. Many thanks, Debbie
I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a simple table with data that gets updated daily. I need to split the data into 5 equal parts for work distribution. Because the amount of records always changes I can not go by numbering so I need to go by percentage, to split it into 5 ( 20% ) parts. Please help.
i am quite a begginer at this so sorry for the simple question
I am running a access query from a vba code. IN the vba code I am writing the sql command.
I am getting the criteria for the sql code (WHERE command) from a number of combo boxes in a form. The whole thing works quite well when I have something selected on all combo boxes but it does collapse when one of the combo boxes has the default value which is "" nothing.
for instance when I have WHERE domicile.IdDomicile = 5 works fine. 5 comes from the combo box
when there is nothing selected in my combo box the sql code would be WHERE domicile.IdDomicile =
and then I get an error msg saying the query is wrong.
Question,
what is the command in sql that instruct the query to return all records. I tried using "*" when the combo box was not selected but then I dont get the records that are blank, only the ones with something writen in it.
I have a field countyID which is a code field and a lookup table County
I want to show the text for county on the datasheet, should I base the datasheet on just the company table and use a combo to get the county text - or should I have query that brings in the county text.
Could the experts tell me the "correct" way of doing this?
What are the performance issues of the two methods. Is which method I choose dependent on how many records are in the lookup table?
I'd like to search a combo box on a subform for a string containing a (or multiple) '?' on click of a command button. The point of this is to inhibit the submission of a record with ????? as a field value (in a combo box), however it is temporarily allowed before submission of the form.
I tried this on the command button and it didn't work:
If Me!Subform.Combobox.SelText = "?" Then MsgBox("Error") End If
I think I am referencing the combo box on the subform incorrectly..
One the face of it it sounds quite simple - i have a table that holds various bits of info about a customer but also a field that contains a holiday period - what i want to be able to do is show all records that do not equal todays date.
So if today was 11/04/06 - and one of my customers had 11/04/06 as one of his holiday days he would not appear on the report but all the others would.
So I have a form for addresses that checks against a table of US zip codes, and throws up a warning if the City/State/Zip entered isn't found on the table. This works great. But I was wondering if there was a way to list the available combinations based on the zip code entered. I want the program to tell the user that the city is wrong, but here is a list of what it could be.Is it possible for a msgbox to list all records where a field = value?
basically from what i can understand, there are 3 options.
1. Where join field from both tables are equal 2. All records from table 1 and only those from table 2 where they match 3. All records from table 2 and only those from table 1 where they match
how do i go about having all records from both tables showing?
As an example lets say I have a table listing some cars:
Car Make Car Model Ford Fiesta Ford Focus Ford GT Mercades C Class Mercades E Class Mercades A Class
I am making a form with two combo drop downs with the ability to select car make or model.
Car Model is Unique so if the car model is entered, I will force the car Make into the other combo box
however, If i select "Mercades" for example in the car make, I would like the combo box of Car model to only be filled with the possible models that Mercades make.
Is this possible? (to search for the values available in Car Model based on the value entered in Car Make?)
if its possible to have a button that after clicking it, it doesn't show certain records. Reason being I have a "shows" for each month on our personal site and amazon, and we've been selling on those for about 2 years, and I have a "show" for each month. But, that quickly clutters up the list box. Any way to create a button the (after typing in the name) it doesnt show only those record(s)?
I used the Contacts demo on Access 2010, made all the elements Client from web based and then exported to a new database. It worked for the most part but now I am trying to put in a 4 box search and am getting stuck on which form to link it to and also where to put these boxes.
I have built a database that is fed from tables provided from outside computer systems, so the architecture isn't exactly how I would design it.
I am trying to use a combo box on a form to quickly jump to a specific department. I have about 130 personnel that are assigned to 10 different departments. I have to use a subform to update the position info vs. the personal info.
The combo box works, but I can't get it to display each department once. It shows the department 130 times for each employee instead of 10 unique departments.
I have a combobox on a form that lets the user select a business name which then populates the rest of the fields in the form appropriately. But when it does this it makes it so that the seach function at the bottom of the screen no longer works, as it only has the selected record as an option. So before selecting a name from the drop down list at the bottom of the screen is says "Record: 1 of 5" but after selecting the name it become "Record: 1 of 1." Is there anyway to still allow the built-in search function to work alongside using a combobox?
I have a combo box that brings up records for an individual. I have people with the same last names and have their first names showing on the combo box list, but when i choose one of them, it will always go to the name of the person who was entered first, so matter who i pick(that has the same last name).
I recently created a database to be used to store incoming invoices. We have 4 suppliers which supply the same material and wanted each supplier to have its own database.
I began by making a database which included all the key tables, forms, queries and functions I would need to then save 4 copies, one for each supplier. This just meant I would not have to repeat the process for each individual supplier.
The problem is all my data is external and upon importing it into the database it has made the search function (combo box) not return results.
I believe this is because: 1) The form was created before the records existed 2) The records were imported from an external source and not created using the form.
However, the way I have designed the form is so I can see all relevant information linked with a specific invoice. This aids in gathering information quickly about an invoice but also so I can input credit note and invoice query information linked to a specific invoice on the same page.
Is there anyway to remedy this?
Or use a similar search function that returns records in my form "Main View"
The last thing I want to do is have to create the form again, although I don't think this will work either as reason 2) states.
I have added a combobox to one of the forms in my customer database using the "find a record in my form based on a value in my combobox" section of the combobox wizard.I have a number of columns in the combobox (the primary key is the bound value, and I have unbound columns for first name, surname etc).
I sorted the records in the combobox by column 3 (surname) so I can scroll through the list and choose surname instead of having to memorise customer numbers. Now I have more than 1500 records (with more on the way), scrolling through takes ages, and I was wondering if there is a way to adapt the combobox so I can (for example) type the first letter of a surname into the box and be taken to surnames beginning with that letter, whilst retaining the primary key as my bound column?
My initial thought was to base the combobox values on a query, and make the query prompt for a starting letter (or string of letters) each time it runs, so it only displays the query results in the list, but I was wondering if there is a neater way to do it?
