Forms :: Combo Box Tied To Any Control - Adding Third Entry?

I have a combo box that is not tied to any control but uses a value list as the row source in the data tab. My question is... it currently holds two names but I am wanting to add a third but when I do the third name does not appear like the first two in the form view. The first two show:
Last Name, First Name, employee #
And the third shows
Last Name, First Name
employee #
And on the third entry... the first name shows where the employee # should be
I am working on creating an access database for tracking physical assets linked to locations. I need to make a combo box list to show items other than the current location of the asset. Basically I need it to refer to last enery of the user and define the new possible entries. so we have a unique relationship between location and asset. The assets and location will always remain fixed and there is never going to be any addition. I am creating a web form so that it can be uploaded into sharepoint.
On my data entry form I have a tab control with three pages
At the bottom of the first page I have a sub form with 3 fields
Currently, when tabbing, the focus runs through the fields as per the tab order
BUT
Once it gets to the subform (datasheet view) it jumps into the first field of the first record rather than the first 'empty cell' thereby starting a new record in the datasheet.
Once the three fields in the datasheet are completed the focus tabs back to the top of the first page of the form rather than onto the next page of the form
How to correctly reference controls using VBA so I could SetFocus where I want?
The Main form is called frm_Admissions
It has three pages called Patient, Treatment & Service Providers
Patient has a subform called sub_Cluster (which may or may not hold Cluster Information)
I would like the tab order to jump from the last textbox on the form into the first field of a new record in the datasheet (rather than the first field of any existing records)
Once it has finished in the datasheet I need to tab to the first field/textbox in the Treatment's page of the form rather than back to the first field/textbox in the Patient's page.
relationship -trainer to course (many to many) -course to programme(many to one)
I have created an input form to add new trainer. In the input form i have combo box to enter trainer's course n trainer's program.
Each time i save a new record. A new data is created in the course and program table. I dont want that to occur. I want the data to be saved in the trainer query with the existing course and program.
I have created a form that searches through one of my tables, via a query, it then automatically creates a report from that query.
I want to add an option into the combo box's that is blank.
Currently if you wanted to choose by 'fault category' but accidently click on 'failure analysis', it will take the top value of the combo as the entry, you can't then blank 'failure analysis'.
Each combo box gets its information from an independent table.
The only think I figured out what adding the refresh button which just closes then reopens the form so all the fields go blank.
I can't work out how to update the selections available in a combo box as follows: I use a combo box in a main form to select a record (yacht) If it's a new yacht then I use an event linked to a button to call another form to add the new Yacht On exiting the Yacht Maintenance form I return to the main form The combo box in the main form doesn't list the yacht i just added unless I exit and re-load the form
I'm not sure of the best way to refresh the combo box selections or main form without exiting.
I want a combo box in a form for data entry. Is the best method in doing this creating a new combo box in the form and linking it to a table, or using a lookup field in my table?
I'm trying to create a Data Entry only form based on a small table called tblProject.
It consist of the fields Project_ID, Artist_ID, Project_Name, and Project_Notes.
I used the wizard to get me started and i know how to change the form to data entry only, but the problem is the vague data in the Artist_ID control. It shows up as a number, because it is an FK to another table (tblArtist) where more details on the artist are held. (including Band_Name)
I want to be able to make it a combobox with a list of the Band_Names from the tblArtist table. This would make creating "a new project" much easier.
On a form to enter some new client info, I want users to be able to select their UserID from a combo box for future reference to other users (ie; Who made these notes?). For various reasons I want them to be able to add their UserID to the combo list for future selection if its not already on there.
There is a table set up for users, simply called tblUsers, with a single field, UserID. A query from this sorts the list alphabetically, and the combo uses this query to populate its list - qryUserID.
Users can currently select from a list or write their own UserID in the box, however when they write their own ID it doesn't get saved.
I don't need any message boxes or checking, just add it and move on kind of thing. It doesn't need to refresh the list immediately, as the user moves on swiftly once completing 2 more fields.
I have a form with four combo boxes on it, the four boxes all open the same form and return a record based on the selection from a different column from the same query.
To make it work smoothly I think I need to make it so it is only possible to enter data in one combo box at a time. I could also do with some error handling.
In different office application we see that drop down combo box is possible to control by pressing Tab button and drop by arrow key from key board. But I can't do this in Ms Access Database which I built.
So, How I can control the combo box value by pressing tab button and value select by arrow key pressing.
I have one field AccountName in customer table and another field AccountID.
In my form I would like to select from the combo box AccountName during data entry and then have the AccountID automatically update in the Account ID field.
What I am trying to do is create a data entry form to an "order table" using 2 cascading combo boxes. I have created a data entry form based on a query. I can't get the cascading combo boxes to work properly.Here is the code:

I have a combo box control in my form named PayDateID, but I told that control to DISPLAY the associated field PayDate.
I now am trying to make a separate control in the same form whose control source is the DISPLAYED PayDate, but it only wants to reference the underlying PayDateID.
How can I make the control source be the displayed value in that combo box?
I have 2 Option buttons that I want to use to control a combo box. If I select Option1 then I want it to pull from one table for the drop-down choices. If I select Option2 I want it to pull from a different table. The Option buttons and combo box are all on the same form.
I have a combo box that pulls account name data from tblAcctInfo. the combo box has an OnChange event which updates a textbox, txtAcctAddr.
when i have a new account that i would like to be listed in the combo box, i use a form, frmAcctAdd, to add a record to tblAcctInfo.
what i would like to do, is: 1) when i type a new value in the combo box that isn't in the list, have that string value pre-populate in the frmAcctAdd. 2) when i have added the new account info into frmAcctAdd and then saved the record, i would like the new value to pre-populate in the combo box, with the txtAcctAddr textbox also updated via the OnChange event (or maybe a different event is more appropriate?).
I have created a long version of this which requires a lot more user interaction (1-user typing in a new value into the combo box, 2-user RE-typing the SAME value into a data entry form, frmAcctAdd, 3-user saving the new record, 4-user re-clicking the combo box and selecting the newly added value) but i am trying to streamline the data entry with auto-populated fields.
I have a database I am using to record financial transactions. I have a transaction edit/entry form that uses combo box lists to select the different segments of my 32 digit account numbers. The issue I am running into is that when I enter a value value in the first box/field the form jumps to the very first record.I then can use the navigation buttons to get back to the last record, and all the subsequent boxes/fields work fine without jumping to a different record.
DB consist of 3 Tables: tblCountry tblState tblCity
and a Form (frmCity) with cascading combo boxes that allows us to enter new City with existing data.
Combo's are displaying data fine but it don't allow selecting any item.
Shortly, this is what I have done so far:
1. Created cb's: cboContinet, cbo_State and cbo_City
2. Created query's: a) qryState (added fileds are from tblState- State and Continent) b) qryCity (fields are from tblCity- City and State)
3. Edit query's: qryState> added criteria for field Continent ([Forms]![FormName]![cboContinet]) I also added criteria in qryCity, field State ([Forms]![FormName]]![cboState])
4. Added VBA on After Update Event:

Macros are enabled in Trust Center and Combo boxes are refreshing fine, but somehow I can't select anything.
Also, I am working with Access 2007 if it matters, I've read something about allowing edits but didn't found how enable them.

Message Box: Data type mismatch in criteria with data
I am creating a form in access. In the form there is a combobox in which I am adding items using RowSourceType as Value list and Row Source as Male;Female. What I require is whether there is some way so that when I select Male from combo box M is stored in database and with Female F is stored. I know how to achieve this with RowSourceType as Table/Query but not with RowSourceType as Value List.
error message I am getting when I click on my Duplicate Record button (created through the wizard).
I have two combo boxes on the main form that populates data when the user makes a selection from the combo box. First combo box populates project data and the second combo box populates equipment data. The form is working well with the two combo boxes populating the data into the main table.
Now I would like to add a duplicate record button to copy a record and paste the data as a new record. So, I added a duplicate record button using the wizard and I am receiving the following AfterUpdate error.
Run-time error 3020: Update or CancelUpdate without AddNew or Edit.

It seems to be duplicating the data from the first combo box, but not the second one where it errors out.
I have created a form "PAYMENTS" that include a sub form "PAYMENT DETAILS".
In the sub form control Policy Id is defined as combo box, and retrieving the list from Policies and Payments where Policies.Client=Payments.Client the query of Combo Box is as follows:

Only first time Combo Box display the Policy Ids according to the Client, but when I change the client and always displays the previous clients Policy Ids.

I am adding a combo box to a form with data sourced from a table. Everything seems ok but when I select an option from the combo list and move to the next record the selection is repeated there also. How do I get to select a different option in the next record?
My form has a combo box which is bound to a query that selects a list of member numbers. The value selected the goes onto filter a list driven by an SQL statement.

This works fine when a single member is selected from the combo. But obviously i want a "select all" or * wildcard option.
Question is 2 parts. 1. How do i add the all or wildcard option to the bound combo? 2. How do i code the all or wildcard option into the SQL statement? Is it something like is not null ?
I want to add a combo box to a form, where depending on the values entered in the box another combo box would show more values. In other words, if the first combobox had choices of 1, 2, 3 and 4, if 1 was selected the next combo box would have values a, b, c and d. If 2 was selected, it would have values of a, d, e, f and g.
I have a set of cascading combo boxes. When a value is selected in Cat 1 ID, it narrows down the selections in Cat 2 ID which narrows down the selections in Cat 3 ID.
However, the values don't show up for columns Cat 2 ID or Cat 3 ID until I enter the row. Then I have it set to requery the fields because the underlying data isn't populated. But then when I leave the row, the values go away.
Why doesn't it show the underlying value from the table? Each column is bound to a field in a table - I would assume that the recorded value would show up. Did I miss something easy?
