Forms :: Combobox Autopopulate - Query Parameter Is Not Popping Up

Oct 22, 2013

My database has comboboxes to autopopulate fields. These comboboxes have parametered queries for row sources so that the user doesn't have to go through a long list of IDs and to make the database more efficient in case it has to hold hundreds of records. They work the first time round but not after, when the comboboxes are clicked for a second time the query parameter is not popping up.

Forms :: How To Get Two Different Fields To Autopopulate When Select A Choice From Combobox

Jan 10, 2014

I am trying to get two different fields to autopopulate when I select a choice from a combo-box on my form.

I have a form called IncomeRcvdFrom, which takes its fields from the table "IncomeRcvd"

In the form, I have three fields that need to relate to each other and auto populate.

The first field is called "IncmType", which comes from a different table called "CategoriesList". There is another field called "IncmDescr" which also comes from the same table. The third field, called "Category" is a list box in that table that comes from another table called "CatType".

All three of these fields also are list boxes in the table "IncomeRcvd", where the source of these fields come from the "CategoriesList" and the "CatType" tables.

What I am trying to accomplish is so when someone selects an Account, or "IncmType", it auto populates the "IncmDescr" field, as well as the "CatType" field on the form.

So far, I have gotten the Account or IncmType and the IncmDescr fields to autopopulate each other, but the Category field either says "Name?", or I get the "type mismatch expression" error message. I also accidentally got the field to work one time, but it would only display the ID Key field and not the actual wording in the rows (i.e. Misc. Payment, Royalty, Rebilling, etc.)

I have checked my relationships, my control sources, and still can't get it to work.

Parameter Keeps Popping Up In Design View

Jun 7, 2007

I have a query with a simple parameter, [Enter the start date]. This is called by another query to add more data, and then by a report.
My problem is this. I go into the report in design view, and my parameter keeps popping up! It will not go away no matter how many times I try to cancel it - it just comes back. So I cannot make changes to the report. How can I stop this from happening?

Reports :: How To Stop Parameter From Popping Up In Design View

Oct 7, 2014

I created a crosstab query with the dates as row headings which has a Start Date and End Date Parameter. When I created a report from it, everytime I switch to the Design View of the Report, the Parameter Pops-Up like 3 times so I had to either click Cancel Start Date and End Date Pop-Ups 3 times or Fill up the Parameter 3 times which is annoying. It pops up when I click something on the Report(in Design View), or even when I encode a Formula on a textbox(it pops up everytime I press a letter on my keyboard).

I can't remove the parameters from the query because I need it in producing the data for report (say from August 1 to 31 data only) .....

Forms :: Error Keeps Popping Up After Expression Is Deleted?

This error message keeps popping up no matter what I do. "Database can't find the field 'QuotationNumber' referred to in your expression." I tried to define a text box by using a DLookUp function, however that did not work. I deleted the function, and now this error message keeps popping up. I have searched everywhere for an expression with 'QuotationNumber' in it, and I cannot find it. What do I do?

Forms :: Autopopulate For One Of 8 Fields Only?

Mar 18, 2013

I have a Subform/Subreport that shows in a datasheet view. I hosts two (2) fields on it: "Job Performed" & "Details". The "Job Performed" field is a drop-down list. The "Details" field is a memo field.

What I am trying to do is, well, one of the selections in the drop-down list will ALWAYS have the same details - "Changed Oil & Filter". But all of the rest will vary constantly.

So my question is, can I make it so if "Monthly" is selected from the first (drop-down) field, it will ALWAYS populate the Details field with the words "Changed Oil & Filter" without affecting the other selections?

I know the way to SELECTDISTECT on a combobox referring to a table so the value will autopopulate in the combobox. But is that doable in a subform?

I have a table with 3 columns. First Name, Last Name, Relationship.

I want to let the user adding data directly to the subform, but when typing RICHARD in the first record of First Name, then on the second record, when they type R, it will suggest RICHARD, a kinda auto fill if desire.

Forms :: Timesheet Database - Combo Boxes In Header Autopopulate

Dec 16, 2013

I'm trying to create a timesheet database to keep track of employee hours worked. I have my tables set up as follows...

Employee_T
PK -EmployeeID
PositionTitle
Last Name
First Name
Employer

Projects_T
PK-ProjectID
ProjectNumber
ProjectName
WBS

Timesheet_T
PK-TimesheetID
FK - EmployeeID
FK - ProjectID
Sat
Sun
Mon
Tues
Wedn
Thurs
Fri
WeekEnding

My question is on my input form I want to have the user/employee pick his name once in a header combo box as-well as the week ending date and have it populate to every new record that user input (each employee can charge to multiple projects in a week so I want to eliminate the need for them to pick their name and week ending date everytime they select a different job charge.)

John Doe Week Ending 12-20-2013

M T W TH F
Landscaping 8 4 3 2 6
Roofing 3 5 2 1

Combobox Reference Showing Up As Parameter

Apr 6, 2014

I made a form that has a combobox that references the combo box above it, and it all worked fine, then I moved it into a navigation form and it stopped working. This was because the source was still using the static reference of the standalone form, not the subform it is now. So I've changed the row source a number of times, but each time, when run, access fails to find it, instead asking for a parameter to be input. The lines

The Nav form is Navigation_Form, the subform is MCR_Log, the combo box is Affected_Subservices and the referenced combobox is Affected_Services.

Code:
Forms!Navigation_Form!MCR_Log.Form!Affected_Services
or
Code:
Me!Affected_Services

does not work, even if I change the bangs and dots around. I can't attach the file to this forum, so here is a dropbox link to have a play around.

Bonus Question, I want the first combobox to accept multiple arguments, and the second to display all the subservices under each service, would the record source for that look something like

Code:
SELECT Subservices.Subservice FROM Subservices WHERE Subservices.Parent = Me!*Affected_Services*;

Forms :: Query Def Always Asking For Parameter

Apr 17, 2013

I have a form called "frmManageACF", query called "qryACFFill".

On frmManageACF I have a combo box (name cmbACFFill) which has three cols. col1 = SiteID, col2 = Site code, and col 3 = SiteName. The combo box Bound column is set to 1.

In qryACFFill, results are selected where SiteID=[Forms]![frmManageACF]!cmbACFFill

The query when I hit refresh always gives me the 'Enter Parameter Value' dialogue box. I have used this method of dynamically updating a query def before so not sure why it isn't working now.

Why the Parameter dialogue box is always coming up??

Forms :: Limiting Combobox With Query

Oct 16, 2014

I'm trying to filter the options in a combo box based on two criteria. The first criterion is another combo box on the same form, for a cascading combo effect. This criterion works fine, no problems at all. The second criterion is a query. So the combo box should display only those values that match both the upstream combobox AND the results of the query. What's really frustrating is that this combobox works just fine in my development dbase. It only stops working when I move it into my active dbase. Anyway, here's the SQL for the combobox rowsource:

SELECT DISTINCT Size2.SizeID, Size2.XYdim
FROM (Shapes INNER JOIN (qrySignsInInventory INNER JOIN Size2 ON qrySignsInInventory.SizeID = Size2.SizeID) ON Shapes.ShapeID = Size2.ShapeID) INNER JOIN Signs ON Shapes.ShapeID = Signs.ShapeID
WHERE (((Size2.SizeID)=[qrySignsInInventory].[SizeID]) AND ((Size2.ShapeID)=(SELECT Signs.ShapeID FROM Signs WHERE Signs.SignID = [Forms]![frmUsedDropdown]![cmbSignID])));

I've hilighted the criterion that isn't working. Also, I'm not getting any errors or anything, it's just that the results aren't being filtered. I've triple-checked the references for the active dbase, and I've checked the results of the query. Everything should be working.

Forms :: Using Combo Box Parameter Query

Apr 17, 2013

I encountered an error with my form when I used a combo box to get the set of data that I need. the combo box is from the look up value from a table, then I made a main form and attached a subform which is made from a query, after I put them together the form looks great not until I switch to another supplier or click refresh to get the new data.

One of my record is mixing to another supplier and when I checked the table where the data is recorded it was also change, so if I use this form and clicked on supplier1 the data is good, then switch to supplier2 and then click refresh or if I alt tabbed the data is there and its supplier is also changed.

I tried to delete it and retyped it but still the error sticks, also I tried to delete it permanently but still one of the data is mixing on a different supplier and its supplier in the main table is also changed. I'm using access 2007 and also a friend of mine tested it in access 2010 but the output is different it reflects the correct data.

Forms :: Parameter Query Using A Combo Box In A Form

Apr 23, 2013

I have a form with a main form and a subform, main form's function is to filter the data's inside the sub form using a combo box, right now I have one combo box which filters the data according to their control no so the output if I use say CtrlNo 1 in the combo box the data that will reflect in the subform would be the data's of CtrlNo 1 but now I'm planning to add another combo box that will filter who supplied that CtrlNo.

What I did is I used the same method from my first form that filters the CtrlNo but in this form I replaced the CtrlNo combo box to Supplier Combo box it worked great but now what it made me think is it possible to put this two filters in just one form?combo box 1 is for CtrlNo combo box 2 is for Supplier.

When I tried to create this it failed, when I filtered only the CtrlNo subform doesn't reflect any data this goes the same for the Supplier combo box but when I tried to choose a filter for both combo box say CtrlNo 1 and its Supplier this works fine but what I want is to have both filters to work even if I did not use both parameters is there any way to achieve this?

Queries :: Parameter Query Prompt Twice In Forms

Aug 27, 2014

it also prompts twice when i try printing or try to save the current page as a pdf and also when i switch record? i think its a problem with the subform as it always is trying to fetch data. would there be a way to make it so that the subform and the form are linked so that the parameter query prompts once and the information stays there rather then having to prompt again when printing or saving as pdf?Two more things - on my total value box i wish to be able to always show 2 decimal places

The code already in place is :

Net : =Sum([TotalValue])
VAT: =Sum([TotalValue])*0.2
Gross: =[Text8]+[Text10]

(Net is Text8 and VAT is Text10)

i have already specified that the decimal place value is 2 instead of auto but it still doesnt work - if the number is a whole number i still wish to see .00 at the end of the field. One last thing - Would their be a way to carry over the information from my delivery note to my invoice note? which would save a lot of time retyping the parameter query.

Example:

User runs the "Check Items By Location" query via the form, then receives a message stating "[Total Selected] Items Have Been Selected from [Location]."

Forms :: ComboBox Populated By Query Not Showing Values

May 9, 2013

I have a form for data entry that have multiple comboboxes. I am trying to get one combobox to base its "list" on an entry from a previous combobox. The first combobox is based on a QuantityType table and has four options.

The next combobox is based on a ProductDesign table and will have close to fifty options. I want to limit the ProductDesign combobox based on the QuantityType selection which will give the QuantityTypeID. This will refer to the QuantityTypeID linked to the ProductDesign table.I have created a query that looks like this:

SELECT Product_Design.Product
FROM Product_Design, Quantity_Type
WHERE Product_Design.QuantityTypeID = Quantity_Type.QuantityTypeID
AND Quantity_Type.QuantityType = [Forms]![Product]![Qty_Type];

This Query works and if I simply run the query I get the needed information from it.What I would like to do with this query is to populate the ProductDesign combobox with this data.I have tried putting the query in the RowSource field but I get an empty combobox without the data. The strange this is that the combobox must be getting something from the query because the length of the combo box varies based on my QuantityType selection. I.E. if I select "Single" in the QuantityType, the ProductDesign dropdown shows three empty places for data whereas if I select "Multiple" in the QuantityType I see that there is ten empty places for data.getting the combo box to actually show each option?

Forms :: Setting Combobox Rowsource To Be A Recordset Instead Of Query?

Jul 15, 2015

I have a Product form that shows the details of each of the Products in my Product table. I also have a "Pick a product" combobox (who's rowsource is being fed by the same Products Query that feeds the form). This allows you to go straight to a particular product by selecting its name. So far, so simple.

I've since added a couple of combobox filters which use different columns ("Product Type" and "Collection") to allow the user to get down to a more manageable recordset to then work with.

Of course, because the "Pick a Product" combobox is being fed by the Products Query, the combobox can end up showing products that are not contained in a filtered recordset. This is... sub-optimal.

Is there a way of telling the "Pick a Product" combobox to use the products listed in the recordset as its rowsource rather than the product query? So that it only lists the products the user has filtered down to?

Forms :: Refer To Combobox On Subform Within Navigation Form In Query Parameters

Jun 6, 2013

There is a command button on my form that calls a filtered query. I'm filtering the query based on a combo box within the form using

[Forms]![frmAssignDwgs]![Combo15]

It works beautifully until I put the form as a subform in the Navigation Form I'm using. When I execute it from within the Navigation form, it errors out looking for [Forms]![frmAssignDwgs]![Combo15].

Is there another syntax I can use so this will still work from within the Navigation Form? Or another way to approach this functionality?

frmNavigation is the main navigation form
frmAssignDwgToPkgs is the subform that holds Combo15

I found another thread (which I can't link to since I'm new) and tried various arrangements of the following to no avail.

[Forms]![frmNavigation]![NavigationSubform] .[Forms]![frmAssignDwgToPkgs]![Combo15]
