Forms :: Combobox Selection - Fill In ID And Name In Correct Text Boxes
Oct 19, 2013
I have a combobox on an unbound form. After making a selection, I click a command button which opens a bound form to a new record. What I need to code next or add into the macro, is for the selection of the combobox to fill in the contact id, and contact name in the correct text boxes.
The combobox row source is: SELECT qryPBS.ConID, qryPBS.PBSName FROM qryPBS; bound column 1.
i have build a small project using access 2003 and vba code one of the forms contains sub form the main form contain the main data about school and in sub form populate different > textboxes for details about classes my problem is how to fill these text boxes in this sub >form for different grades depending on id of main form and how can i change the values and >moveing first or next buttons these are simple picture
I have five textboxes for husband with the values typed(HustxtAddress1, HustxtAddress2, HustxtCity, HustxtState, HustxtZip). I have five more textboxes for wife. I have a combo box asking whether the spouse's address is same as the husband - with yes or no. If "Yes" is selected, the text boxes for wife is auto filled with the same values of the husband. I tried with combo box change event setting HustxtAddress1= WifeText address1, it fills only the first field and other fields are empty.
I have a form based on a query.On the form I have 4 comboboxes.The combo boxes filter eachother without a problem (based on custom select query).Now I want after the fourth combobox value is selected, I want to populate a text field with a value from a different column from the master query (after the 4 selections only 1 value should be possible)I try to say this easy.Master query contains 5 columns:
- group - type - job - insurance - charge
combo1 selects group (and filters records) combo2 selects type (from remaining records and filters again) combo3 selects job (from remaining records and filters again) combo4 selects insurance (from remaining records and filters again)
[code]....
This works great and the dropbox only shows 1 OF EACH DIFFERENT record...If I add a text box and want to see the "charge" value, that I thought I could use the ME.text-code. But in order to do this, I have to add the charge column into the query of Combo4.the dropbox for insurance gives me multiple values that are the same. Is there any way to make this work?
I'm pretty new to this type of programming and i was hoping for a little help,
I have completed the majority of my program it's just a few little things i need to tweak.
The main thing is that i am trying to get a text box to autofill from a selection in a combo box i.e.
i have selected a drop down box with 3 coloums looked up from another table i would like 1 of the columns to stay in the combo box after selection and the other two to appear in the text boxes on the same page.
I am designing a nomination form (web database so no vba macros can be used).
The form has 3 combo boxes: cboStaffName, cboLevel, cboNominee.
The form is bound to the tblSubmit table where the submissions are populated.
I used a select statement:SELECT Staff_List.Staff_Name FROM Staff_List; to populate the combo box for the Staff Name selection.
This is the select statement to populate the job level combobox:
SELECT Staff_List.Level, Staff_List.Staff_Name FROM Staff_List WHERE (((Staff_List.Staff_Name)=[forms]![frmtest]![cboStaffName]));
The select statement to populate the combobox for the nominee combobox:
SELECT Staff_List.Staff_Name FROM Staff_List WHERE (((Staff_List.Level)=[forms]![frmtest]![cboLevel]));
The problem is that the staff_name in the first combobox is still found in the nominee combobox which should not be because a staff cannot nominate self. There is a field in the Staff_List called YesNo that should be activated for each staff that is selected so that the select statement on the nominee combobox can be updated accordingly to remove items with the field "Active"
How to get the checkbox selected for each corresponding staff.
May I start by saying Hi and that im just embarking on understanding Access 2003. I do know a little about DB as I have built programs in VB6 using databases. But now onto my problem which seems a simple one.
I have a Db called delivery. With columns as below. Mtno being the key.
Mtno Orderno Description Quantity Customer
I populate a combo box with Mtno, but on the click event of the combo box i wish to populate textboxs from the other columns.
Hello I hope someone can help me on this one. This is something I am not getting an understanding on and need some help.
I made a form that holds all information for our customers. I want to make the Company Name box into a combo box so when I change the Company Name in the combo box it populates all the text boxes on the form with the correct data.
I for the life of me do not know where/how to even start to do this.
I would attach my database but I cant seem to get the file small enough. I have deleted the large table and it is still 7megs. How do I get it small enough to attach it?
This is my first post of hopefully many, and I hope to be able to keep visiting and helping others in the future.
I'm building a database at the moment which I've done basing forms on Queries as I'm very familiar with doing so. However, one form in the database if a bit different.
The form in question is for shipping off refurbished units at the warehouse, by adding a SHIP ID to the record for each unit scanned in. The form before creates a recird ubdexed by a SHIP ID in the SHIPPING table, along with some other info such as delivery address and ship date. Each unit will be assigned this SHIP ID by the child form I wish to create, by scanning the Serial Number against it. Two actions are done on the child form: Read in Serial Number of unit, find record in MAIN table and display key fields such as the units status (i.e. "WIP" or "REPAIRED" into text boxes on the form Allow unit to be shipped (by assigning the SHIP ID to the unit's record in the main table, only if the STATUS field shows as "REPAIRED" Now, because I want to scan units into the form's Serial Number textbox and do the STATUS field check, then assign the SHIP ID; I need a recordset, right? I've inherited development of datdbases which used recordsets in their forms before, but have never had to create one from scratch. Also I wasn't able to take a copy of the source code of those databases before I left my last company.
Can anyone give me some info on what the bare minimum is to create a recordset, and to use it to save the record once I've made changes.
For your info I would consider myself an Access intermediate, and I've worked with it in various roles and versions for around 5 years.
GOAL: select the IC number from the combo box and have 5 text boxes auto fill.
I have a table made for the IC number drop down. The columns represent the fields that need to be auto filled.
Making some kind of query to link the combo box entry to the text boxes? Some VBA where the control source is equal to my query? I have tried changing the text box control source to equal columns from my drop down but that did not work.
NOTE: the blue font in the first image represents the text boxes that need to auto fill when I select the IC number from the drop down. The second image is my table from which my combo box is generated. The acronyms are for the two tests on this form.
I have a combobox [CBreason] that reads from a table to show me why someone is gaining access to the building.
One of the options is "Incident".
When incident is selected I want a textbox [TBIncidentNo] and a button[BIncidentDup] control I made to appear.
I thought that the code:
If Me.CBReason.Value = "Incident" Then Me.CBIncidentNo.Visible = True Me.BIncidentDup.Visible = True Else Me.CBIncidentNo.Visible = False Me.BIncidentDup.Visible = False End If
Placed in the after update action of the CBReason box would sufice but it doesnt work
I'm guessing the value is not recognised fro some reason but i cant work out why. There is no error message or issus, it makes the box dissapear when there is no entry but no change for selecting incident.
So, I have a form and I need it so that when one field is selescted, the other 2 auto fill based on my selection. The form is based off of a Table, "TblClient" and The fields are ClientID (PK), InventoryType, Policy, and DueDate.
I want the user to type in the ClientID, and then once they select InventoryType, Policy and DueDate are autofilled. I have another table, "TblData" that has the data for InventoryType and the coresponding Policy and DueDate associated with each one. So far, I have a combobox for InvnentoryType with a query for rowsource for InventoryType with the width of these additional columns to zero so they are not displayed in the combo. Then, I added unbound text boxes to my form (one for each additional field) and in the Control Source of those text boxes I put:
In the first unbound text box;
=[InventoyType].Column(2)
This worked for me, but now I realize that I want to give it the option that once these are autopopulated, they can be edited. For example, the policy most of the time is exactly the same for a certain inventory type, but sometimes, a word or two needs to be changed. Is this possible?
Hi I have been searching this forum for 3 hours for a solution, some come close others are pure gobble de gook to me. I have on a form 1 combobox where a name is chosen, from that choice I would like the address, suburb, state etc automatically placed intheir relevant fields. I have tried =DLookUp("[PropertyAddress]","tblProperty","[Property]") in the address textbox which will only bring up the first recod's address from the table, if I change the name in the combobox the address doesn't change. What am I doing wrong, I have designing databases in Access for a total of 7 days now and have been going fairly well with some tips and code snippets from this forum but this has got me stumped.
What I have is a form that takes in information regarding test data. Each test run can record data for multiple requirements. I am able to pull all data fine, however in order to make it easier on the user i was hoping to populate the requirements subform based on a selection of "test group" in the main form.
Commonly run together requirements can fall in to groups. I have a selection box for these groups in the main form and a table that stores these group id's and group setup. Is there a way to autofill the tables records that the subform is linked to based on the selected test group?
it's easy to set up a form with a combobox that will list all records and moves the user to the selected record. But I can't figure out how to just show a selection of the records in this combobox, instead of all records.
So, to use the example used in most online tutorials: a drop down menu shows you all the names in a customer database. However, I'd like to have instead a dropdown menu with an overview of all surnames in the database and that I move to the first record with the selected surname.
I am having issues with my combo box populating values based on the selection from another combo box.
Database : contains 2 tables: Staff_List, Level_Type and a form called frm_Test The first combobox cboLevel gets its value from the Level_Type table with the select statement SELECT [Level_Type].[ID], [Level_Type].[Level_Type] FROM level_Type;
The values to be displayed on the second combobox cbo_Name is expected to be dependent on the Level selection made from the first combobox i.e if Level 1 is selected in cboLevel then only Names of people in Level 1 will be displayed in second combobox.
The select statement I put there is SELECT Staff_List.ID, Staff_List.Staff_Name FROM Staff_List WHERE ((([Staff_List]![Level])=[Forms]![frm_test]![cboLevel])); This is not displaying anything in the second combobox after I tried it in the Form view, just empty.
Got a bit stuck in a database. I have a form based on a query. On the form I have 4 comboboxes.
The combo boxes filter eachother without a problem (based on custom select query)
Now I want after the fourth combobox value is selected, I want to populate a text field with a value from a different column from the master query (after the 4 selections only 1 value should be possible)
Master query contains 5 columns: - group - type - job - insurance - charge
combo1 selects group (and filters records) combo2 selects type (from remaining records and filters again) combo3 selects job (from remaining records and filters again) combo4 selects insurance (from remaining records and filters again)
Combo4 is based on following query: -column1 Insurance Total=Group by Show=yes -column2 Job Total=Where show=no Criteria [forms]![name].[combo]
This works great and the dropbox only shows 1 OF EACH DIFFERENT record
If I add a text box and want to see the "charge" value, that I thought I could use the ME.text-code. But in order to do this, I have to add the charge column into the query of Combo4.
If I do this, the dropbox for insurance gives me multiple values that are the same. Is there any way to make this work?
When I amend a combobox I want a label to adjust to reflect the current cbox input.
I have used the event change and done on change me.label = me.cbox.value and that works however the cbox has 2 columns. The unique category id and the category. So at moment if i choose the first option from cbox i get 1 appear in label as opposed to clematis for example.
What code to use to select the second column from cbox value.
I'm building a new db for tracking tests/results, using Access 2007.
On this issue, I'm working with 2 tables, Sample and Equipment.
On a form to enter sample info, I have a combo box to select a piece of equipment.
When the equipment is selected, I need to have a sub-form populate with several fields of data from the equipment table, based on the equipment selected.
I'm not trying to save the equipment data again, I just need to display it, based on the equipment the user selects. This is just a kind of second check to remind the user what the equipment he's selected will do.
I currently have 3 tables within a database with student details of three different classes. I need to create a user form that has a dropdown box which I can select a student from one of these tables with a number of text boxes below which brings up all the students details, then once the student has been selected and the correct details are shown then I need to create a button which allows me to move that student from one table to another.
I would like to set up a picture in the form that changes based on a combobox selection, for example if you select from combo box list "design1", a picture that have a name : design1 will appear as a background to the form ..
I am designing a Web Database with a bound form to a submit table.
On the form, I have a combo box with selections that should influence the value to be displayed in a textbox also on same form.
For instance the combo box for Staff Name contains list of all Staff and I want the textbox to automatically display the level of the staff that was just selected in the combobox.
I know how to get this done using a combobox but my boss insists that the level should be automatically displayed in the textbox once combobox selection is done.
Using the combobox for level, I used the select statement in the RowSource property :
SELECT Staff_List.Level, Staff_List.Staff_Name FROM Staff_List WHERE (((Staff_List.Staff_Name)=[forms]![frmtest]![cboStaffName]));
I am in a dilemma of how to replicate this for the textbox because textbox only has control source and no RowSource where I can put this select statement.
Also, I will still need to bind this textbox to the submit table with the column name "TxtLevel" in the control source
Please see attached sample access db.
Also note that I cannot use action queries or VBA because it is a Web database and not a client database.
The main form contains a combobox, populated from a query which pulls in specific data (time) from a table
The subform is linked to the combo box on the main form. Based on the combobox selection, the subform updates with associated records with the combobox selection
I would like to add additional functionality in the form load event, that would read the current time and identify the nearest value in my combobox.
I have tested the code below behind a button and it works
If Time() > "13.00:00" And Time() < "14:30:00" Then MsgBox "The Time is " & Time() cboPricingCADeadline.Value = "14:30:00" Else cboPricingCADeadline.Value = "NA" End If
Would a loop through the recordset of the Combobox be best used here? Set the first and second values of the recordset to variables, query the time and then return the value if statement is true, or move to the next record in the rs replacing the first and second variable values
eg If value1 > time() and value 1 < value2 then cboPricingCADeadline.Value = value1 end if
If this is a good lead, how do I go about setting up my recordset?
