Forms :: Conditional Formatting Text Boxes Based On Yes / No Field
Jan 8, 2015
I am trying to get the text in a couple text boxes to turn green if a certain Yes/No field is left blank.
I know the conditional formatting is working, because condition 1 and 3 are working fine (those expressions are referencing text fields).
I would like to have Condition 2 look at [DM_Approval] from the bound query and if it is unchecked, execute the conditional formatting.
I've tried all kinds of statements, but i'm starting to think that the expressions in the conditional formatting window just won't work when referencing a yes/no field.
Specifically (at the very least) i know i tried [DM_Approval]=False, [DM_Approval]=No, [DM_Approval]=0, and [DM_Approval] is null.

I'm having a spot of trouble trying to get conditional formatting to work. I have an overview form which displays current quotes going through the system, the QuoteStartTime field is generated from the Now() command.I Would like if possible to show, 1 hour = Green, 2 hours = Amber and 3+ hours Red.
I've tried variations of
hour([QuoteStart])>1
DateAdd("h",1,[QuoteStartTime])
I've done this before with a date only field before, but working with time is taking too much time.

Hello,
Could some kind person out there help me out please?
I have been 'dabbling in' the area of conditional formatting, particularly in the area of changing the colour of my active form based on the result of what’s output on a text box. I have had some success in this area but where I am getting confused is getting the colour of my form to change on the basis of what is entered into a text box control that does not match exactly. My forms background changes to the required colour when its value is ‘set exactly’ but what I am trying to achieve is to change it according to the first letter of entry regardless of what follows? It always starts with a letter, either a ‘D’ or ‘V’ to indicate whether its ‘Vital’ or ‘Desirable’ and is subsequently followed by no more than 6 numbers and finally a letter. Basically I need my form to change colour based on the whether it is either a ‘V’ or a ‘D’ irrespective of what follows???
What I have been using so far is:
Private Sub Model_Number_AfterUpdate()
If Me.Part_Number = "V111145K" Then
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = 12632256 'Light Red
Else
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = 8421631 'Blah Gray
End If
End Sub
Private Sub Form_Current()
If Me.Part_Number = "V111145K" Then
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = 12632256 'Light Red
Else
Me.Section(acDetail).BackColor = 8421631 'Blah Gray
End If
End Sub
Can anyone help me out of a ' sticky situation'..
Ta Very much
Carol

Is there a way to apply conditional formatting on a field based on the contents of another field?
For example, lets say I have the following fields
START_DATE
APPROVED_DATE
CAT#
DAYS_OPEN
The DAYS_OPEN field is automatically calculated in the query and is not a stored date.
My criteria is that if CAT# is 3, my days open should not exceed 30 but if my CAT# is 1 or 2, my days open should not exceed 60. I want to apply conditional formatting so that it turns yellow at approximately 80% of the date limit and red at approximately 90% of the date limit, otherwise the conditional formatting is green.
I know how to do conditional formatting, but no sure if it can be modified based on the content of another field.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jim

I am having problem on formatting text on a report based on a Yes/No field using Conditional Rules Manager in Access 2010. When adding a rule [field name] = Yes the font color does not change. I have tried setting the expression to [field name] = True and still does not change the color. Adding a Yes or True in query works OK.

I have a form which basically has - employee, work done, hours and a calculated field (w/hour) of work done/hours
I can manually set the conditional formatting however as time changes targets will go up and it would be easier to update the targets in another 'admin form' (i can manage that part)
Its just referencing the other table to say the likes of :
if work per hour is greater than tbltargets.convtargetmid then vborange, if work per hour is greater than tbltargets.convtargethigh then vbgreen else vbred.

I have a subform (called NAMES) on a main form (called MAIN) that lists names. Elsewhere on MAIN, I have a second subform (called ASSIGNED) that lists people that have been assigned.
When I double click a name on NAMES, it automatically adds them to the ASSIGNED list (who's record source is a table). What I want the NAMES form to do is conditionally format the NAMES form so that the record that's been added turns green. That way I can see who I've added and who I haven't yet added. Once I've added them all, the NAMES form is a simple list of all-green names. If there's a black name in the list, it's because I haven't yet added them to ASSIGNED.
I've tried a DLookup function, and I've tried a Value= conditional formatting rule, and neither one are working... I already got the 'double click to add' thing working, now I just need the name to turn green when I've added them.

I have a report that I would like to have the rows be a specific color based on the value in 1 field on the row.
I have attempted to use conditional formatting but it will not work (IE, I can get font color to change, but not field boxes to have color).
The field is labeled [text144] based on the value in the field (1,2, or 3) I would like the field to be a different color.
i.e.
3 = green
2 = yellow
1 = red

I have a subform with two fields [status] and [process], i am trying to get the backcolor of procces to change to red if the status field contains the text "expired".
I have tried vba. plced on the after update
if me.status = "expired" then
me.process.backcolor = vbred
else me.process backcolor = vbwhite
end if
this
Changes the color of the field [process] but also all process field colors to red even if the status field does not contain "expired".
I think conditional formatting is the way to go but i think i need an expression to complete this.

I wanted to use a conditional formating when in a subform the field "Field_Name" has the value "Case Status New" and then the field "New_Value" should become orange color.
I guess it can be put togheter like a formula (expression) in the Edit Formating Rule.

My table fields are as follows:
1. Issued? (This is a lookup field with the following lists "Yes"; "No"; "NA")
2. IssueDate
I created a subform bound to the table.I wish to accomplish the following on the form:
1. If "No" is selected on the [Issued?] field, I want the [IssueDate] to gray out.
2. If "Yes" is selected, I want [IssueDate] to be required.
I set Conditional Formatting as follows:
Expression is ([Issued?]="No"), condition is disabled.
When I tested it, [IssueDate] grayed out when "No" was selected. However, when I select "Yes", it still remained grayed out.

I have some Conditional Formatting of a Currency Field in an Entry Form. The cell is conditionally formatted with a yellow background when the value is zero.
I now wish to add an additional condition to the expression such that even if the value is zero it will not be formatted if a specific check box is TRUE.
I have tried modifying the expression such that it reads;
[currency field]=0 AND [check box]<>TRUE.
It correctly turns off the conditional formatting if the check box is ticked, but does not turn it on again when the check box is unticked.

Need to confirm whether the Default formatting option in the Conditional formatting Dialog won't work in datasheet view of a form. Please note that all conditional criteria are working fine but not the Default Formatting option - only in the Datasheet view (In Single Form view the default formatting is working fine)

Hi all.
I've been struggling to find a solution for this. Never previously used conditional formatting I could use some help.
I have a sub form consisting of continuous forms...
Based on whether or not the below DCount indicates 1 or 0 I want to change the BackColor of a Textbox.
DCount("fID", "tblRegister", "fID = " & Me.fID.Value & " AND samtyckeBarn = TRUE AND samtyckeBarnVuxen = TRUE"))
Where/how do I implement this?
I do not yet fully understand the FormatConditions collection of the textbox but I guess that's where to work.

I have a report which I would like to apply conditional formatting on multiple fields. I would like the conditional formatting to be based on two types of criteria
First criteria would be contracts that start with the year 2014. I used the following expression which worked - InStr(1,[ContractNr],"2014" AND [DirectorInCharge]= "Joseph Steinbok" or "Adam Godson")
To this expression I would also like to highlight fields which contracts start with 2014 AND have a particular Director assigned to it. For this I used the following expression - And [DirectorInCharge]="Name"
On their own, both expressions are working but I want to combine them. How do I do this? I've tried the following - InStr(1,[ContractNr],"2014" AND [DirectorInCharge]= "Name") but then nothing is highlighted. I also tried InStr(1,[ContractNr],"2014") AND [DirectorInCharge]= "Name" - in this instance EVERY record was highlighted.

I have a text box on a report from the Control Source CSCS Expiry Date. The format in the table and query and report is Short Date. The Text Format is Plain Text.
I have named the text box txtCSCSExpiryDate. I would like to make the background red when the date is 01/04/2013. I have ensured the text box back style is normal.
I am using expression
[txtCSCSExpiryDate]=#01/04/2013#
And in case it was the Control Source:
[CSCS Expiry Date]=#01/04/2013#
I also tried:
[CSCS Expiry Date]<Date()
[txtCSCSExpiryDate]<Date()
I applied the formatting each time, tried closing and re-opening the database. Changed the background format colour to green instead of red and even restarted my computer and it just stays exactly the same.
I've just noticed something else. I have a screen only button on my report header with
DoCmd.OpenReport "All_CSCSExpiry_Rpt" acViewPreview
Which has also stopped working. I get an error:
The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Employee Details was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control.
Is this linked to my formatting not working?
I've just checked and on my 5 reports all of the print buttons are giving me this error! (I added the button as they are part of a navigation form menu which only shows report view, I am editing in the original report design view though.) They were working yesterday! Is it because I compacted and repaired the database?

I can generate an email by clicking on a button on a MS Access Report. In the body of the resulting Outlook email you have formatted text. I have also included an array of values which are displayed in this email but I need to highlight certain items in the array in red based on whether or not another column for that record is checked. Here is an image of the email. Notice that I have circled "ZWO" and that it is red. I need for this to happen programmically.

my problem seems to be very familiar to the one in this thread :
[URL]...
Basically I have a list of tables in one combo box. I want the user to select which table. ( The tables are stock information, each table for each different day of the stockmarket)
Then they select the Stock they want to look at. ( These are the same in all the tables obviously, so it is the same in the drop down box)
NOW, the bit i'm struggling with. Is for a textbox below to show the value found IN the table name selected, with the stock selected. How would i do this in SQL, or VBA with SQL.

I have a form called frmPO based on a table called tblPO One of the fields in tblPO is linked to the field idAddress in the table tblAddresses
The following fields exist in both tblAddresses and tblPO
Company
Address1
Address2
City
ZP
State
The form contains controls for these fields on tblPO. I would like to give the user the choice to either enter a shipping address manually, or selecting a preregistered address from tblAdresses. For this I would like a combo box showing the values of idAddress. I f a user selects a preregistered shipping address, I would like the form to fill the rest of the fields based on the value of this control.
My understanding is that I should set a BeforeUpdate event to set the values of the different controls, unfortunately my command of VBA amounts to 0.

I have a form (employee info) that requires the user to do a search to find the employee before then editing anything that needs to be edited.
I have a search box that will find the relevant record without any problem, however what I am looking to do is hide text boxes on the form and have them appear only once the search has found the matching record.
If no matching record is found, I would then like a message box that states 'No matching employee, would you like to add an employee' and when the user clicks OK, it then reveals the same hidden text boxes and sets focus to the first one of the bunch.
Now, I have used the 'me.textboxname.visible = True (or False) elsewhere, however, I am not sure how to trigger that after a search.
I assume I am looking at an If statement, but I am not sure how to construct it, hence turning to the experts.
Code:
Private Sub txtEmployeeSearch_AfterUpdate()
If txtEmployee = DLookup("EmployeeNumber", "tblEmployeeInfo") Then
Me.txtboxname.Visible = True
Me.txtboxname2.Visible = True
DoCmd.GoToControl "txtboxname"
Else
MsgBox "Employee Not Found", vbYesNo
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
End If
End Sub
I know that there is a massive gap where I have put <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< - but I am stumped as to what to put in there?

Using Access 2013. I'm trying to do some conditional formatting on a field. I select the field in design or layout mode. I go to the Format menu, and Conditional Formatting (which is NOT greyed out). When I click on the Conditional Formatting option, nothing happens. What the heck? Where is the dialog?
I've rebooted my system, and tried every database I have (even created a new one), and I can't get the conditional formatting dialog to appear. Is there something stupid I'm overlooking? Do I need to have something in place before I can bring up the dialog?
