Forms :: Continuous Forms - Looping Through Records / Manipulating Fields On Form

May 29, 2015

I have a bound continuous tabular form,However, based on data content in one field of a record, I want a checkbox in the same record enabled, so the user can check it if necessary. I have created a record set using the form as shown below, and I am looping through each record. To show that my code is referring to the field with required data content, I display it as a message box and it works, yet my checkbox does not enable.

I have the code in the form_load event, however, for testing purposes I have it behind a button.If I am seeing this properly, the code behind the button enables the checkbox for ALL records once the criteria in the required field is true, and based on the last record, which has no data content, it disables the checkbox in ALL records. I also have the PK ID for each record hidden in the form. Can I utilize that to target the checkbox of each individual record??

Form Detail
-Form does not allow additions or deletions. Edits allowed
-All fields are disabled and locked
-I only want the check box to unlock if data is found in the "RequiredField" as referred to below. I have also tried if not isNull(requiredfield.value) then -enable checkbox, which yields the same results

Here is my code

Code:

Dim rstMyForm As DAO.Recordset
Set rstMyForm = Forms!MyForm.Form.Recordset
rstMyForm.MoveFirst
Do While Not rstMyForm.EOF
If Not RequiredField.Value = "" Then

[code]...

Forms :: Sort Continuous Form By Two Fields?

Jul 6, 2013

I have a form I would like to sort by:

first - by App_Flag (a yes/no field) - have all the clients with "yes" on top

second - by App_Date - from the earliest to the latest

The query sorts it fine but the form does not - even if I requery the form (added a requery button).

Can a macro or coding make it sort it the way I need it?

Forms :: Limited Number Of Records In Continuous Form / But Now Can't Add Records

Mar 22, 2013

One shows my form with the Transporters Subform with 3 entries, and 1 entry.The three line items that say "Transporter" are in one subform. I used this code

Code:
Private Sub Form_Current()
If Me.RecordsetClone.RecordCount >= 3 Then
Me.AllowAdditions = False
End If
End Sub

to limit the number of records I can add to 3 or less.My issue is that I lost the blank text box that allows you to add another record. So, if I only have one Transporter listed, there's no box to let me add a second or third.I have the following properties for the Transporters Subform set to "Yes":

Data Entry
Allow Additions
Allow Deletions
Allow Edits
Allow Filters

Forms :: Way To Highlight Duplicates Across A Number Of Records On A Continuous Form

Jan 1, 2015

Is there any way to highlight duplicates across a number of records on a continuous form (conditional formatting I presume)? My continuous form is filtered on load to show only the records relating to the specified date (specified before opening the form), and there is one field that I would like to highlight if there is a duplicate value in the same field on another record on the form. Is this possible?

Forms :: Updating Field On Multiple Records Selected In Continuous Form?

Jun 12, 2013

I have a form listing tasks to which I make personnel assignments with a multi-value list field type. It takes some time to select from 15-25 employees on the list for each task, especially considering that small groups of employees will be assigned to the same selection of tasks.

What I want to do is select multiple records with the mouse, then click a command button opening a form in dialog mode with the selection list. The user then clicks to make his selections and clicks ok, which then updates the multi-select field for the selected records.

Forms :: Continuous Form With Textfields As Records - List Of Years With Totals Of Hours

Jul 1, 2015

I have a continious form with textfields as records. Its about total course hours that are calculated. There is a field in the records that holds and calculates the hourse that one have done and another field that holds the max hours they may follow for one year.

Every record has h different year.

When the amount of hours in the transmission textfield is negative, they can transmit the hours to te next year. Therefore i have to calculate the Max hours per Year + the transmission hours.

So the calculation is not a problem. Though i don't actually know where i can trigger the calculation. I have tried it with a button on the form, but then the user always have to click to see the right amount of hours for the next year. That's not handy. I am looking for a way to automatically calculate the field Max hours per year. Given that the Max hours per year is a bound field, its bound to a table where i stock the Max hours that i have calculated.

I also tried it with the button that's used for inserting new course hours, but then it calculates with the old values instead of the new ones.

How can i trigger the calculation automatically without using a button.

Accessing Fields In Continuous Forms

Feb 8, 2006

Hi Guys,

I currently have a subform which relates to the primary key of the main form.

This subform contains possible 'Answers' which related back the main form/table 'Question'. Each possible answer has a true of false field to show whether or not it is the correct possible answer from the question field.

Currently the subform performs correctly, in that it shows up the 3 possible answers for each question... (in continuous form view)ie all three appear at once in 'form view' - but in the subform the only one answer and one true or false attribute appear at once.

Here is where the problem is - i need to be able to access the individual field values for these 3possible answers (in VB code). I cant work out how to do this? Does anyone know how access calls them? What will the checkboxname be? The problem is because there is only one checkbox on the form in 'Design View' (to see if the answer is the correct one), but then 3 in 'Form View', I cant work out how access distinguishes between them.

Many thanks

Ross

Forms :: Sorting Multiple Fields On A Continuous Subform

Feb 10, 2015

I'm trying to use the following code to programmatically sort four fields on the continous subform:

Code:
Me.SPlanChange_03_OFFSET.Form.OrderBy = "AOBJ ASC, ORG ASC, AVAILABLE DESC, AGFND ASC"
Me.SPlanChange_03_OFFSET.Form.OrderByOn = True

It appears that the code works partially - the values in the "AOBJ" field are as they be and so are the values in "AVAILABLE" field. The values in the "ORG" and "AGFND" fields will not sort.

Is what I'm trying to do even possible?

Forms :: Hide Number Fields Of Specific Record On Continuous Subforms

Mar 8, 2014

I have a continuous subform recording the information of various wireless products for an employee embedded in an employee main form. Please see screen shot enclosed.

There is a check box "BYOD/Personal" on the subform. I want to hide a number fields when this check box on independent record is checked. However, if I use the following codes, the changes apply to all records under that employee.

Private Sub BYOD/Personal_AfterUpdate()

If BYOD/Personal.Value = True then
Me.Provider.Enabled = False
Me.XXX.Enabled = False....etc.
Else
Me.Provider.Enabled = True
Me.XXX.Enabled = True....etc.
End If
End Sub

How can I just disable those fields on the subform of a specific record when the BYOD/Personal field for that record is checked?

Manipulating Calculated Fields

May 18, 2005

I developed a query that calulates when a contract is reviewed i.e 5 weeks and 9 weeks after the commencement date. These are called CDE1 and CDE2. This works well and the CDE1 and CDE2 dates are displayed ok.

The query above is:
SELECT Contract.ContractNo, Contract.APSNo, Contract.Firstname, Contract.Surname, Contract.AgencyDesc, Contract.FacilityName, Contract.Designation, Contract.WeeklyHrs, Contract.PositionNo, Contract.ComDate, Contract.EndDate, IIf(DateAdd("ww",5,[comdate])<[enddate],DateAdd("ww",5,[comdate])) AS 1stCDE, IIf(DateAdd("ww",9,[comdate])<[enddate],DateAdd("ww",9,[comdate])) AS 2ndCDE
FROM Contract;

The problem is that I now want to access contracts under these CDE dates between two dates that is user defined (startdate) and (enddate).

As the above are calculated fields, how can I develop a new query based on the above as CDE1 and CDE2 are already calculated fields?

Forms :: Using IIF Statement On A Continuous Form

Jul 19, 2013

I have a continuous form sfrmAddress which is based on my table tblAddressList. What I am trying to achieve concerns the date fields DateFrom and DateTo.

DateFrom is a bound text box txtDateFrom

I am trying to put an IIf function in the Control Source of unbound text box txtDateTo

=IIf([txtDateFrom]=[qryAddressHistory1]![LatestFromDate],Date(),[tblAddressList]![DateTo])

qryAddressHistory1 returns the LatestFromDate , so the most recent address.

The idea being if it is their most recent address, they have lived there until today, if it is not their most recent address it will display the date contained in the table (when they moved out or DateTo).

I have tried this a few different ways, double and triple checked my references and I'm usually OK with IIf so I don't understand where it's going wrong!

I should add I'm getting the #Name? error all the way down the column when I open the form.

Forms :: Listbox To Continuous Form?

Oct 24, 2013

I have a listbox which contains a list of schools. I would like the user to be able to select 1 or all the records from that list box. From that list of selected records, my goal is to allow the user to use each school selected and use that as a record source for a continous form so I can allow the user to input a integer next to it, like school size.

Example:
Listbox (Schools)
ID, Name
1, Thomas School
2, Jefferson School
3, Washington School
4, Madison School
5, Franklink School

User select Thomas, Washington and Madison

In a Continuous Form it would list,
Thomas School, Text Box (Allow User to input School Size)
Washington School, Text Box (Allow User to input School Size)
Madison School, Text Box (Allow User to input School Size)

I then would save those records into a table.

Forms :: Continuous Form Textbox Pre-population

use a continuous form to allow users to quickly enter any number of records. One of the fields in this continuous form is an ID (not a foreign key, actually not a key in the database but crucial for other purposes) which is incremental from the last one stored in a table.

I am able to use a combo box and a query to get the ID but I cannot save the value to the text box on the first record, and then requery and get the next id when the user moves onto the next record..and so forth..

I have three tables (Group, Customer, Savings).

Every member of a group do savings once every 15 days and each group has maximum 20 members, group has one to many relationship with customer and customer having one to many relationship with Savings (there is no direct relationship between group and savings) i have created a continuous form for saving entry. in this form i select a group which is unbound and based on that group, its members are listed in the combo box named CusID, after selecting customer other saving details are entered.

What I want, is that for every group i want a total saving for all that specific group's members selected in the mentioned unbound combo box in that continuous form, this total should be based on the group selected in the mentioned unbound combo box, in case i select another group the total should also be based on newly selected group.

Forms :: Remove Blank Row On Continuous Form

Feb 26, 2015

On a continuous form, I would like the user will add a new record via button click instead of popping open a blank record at all times. With AllowAdditions set to False on Form load, and turning it back on button click I can get a new record added. I am having trouble determining where to turn it back off. After Insert - doesn't seem to delete the blank row until I move to the blank row, so this doesn't accomplish what I am looking for.

AfterUpdate (for each field on continuous form) - this did what I wanted, but I was only able to update one field on the form for the new record. The combo boxes then were viewable, but I could not make a selection.
