Forms :: Create A Message Box To Flash On Screen To Tell User That Update Code Is Running
Mar 6, 2014
I need to create a message box or a form or something to flash on the screen to tell the user that a piece of "Update" code is running. the update code will be updated reports from marketing returns, but the 3 branches who use the information are separate so I am creating an update form to download and update the table.
The code for the update is already working, but can take a while, so I thought a message or splash screen would be useful as the update runs on start up.
It would have another use, I have a report which is made mainly of calculated fields on an onPrint event and also takes a while to work it out, so a similar screen would be more useful than my current spinning circle and blank screen.

I would like to put a message on the screen for informing the user - mostly during some procedures that might take time or when, after a warning, I want to go on with the program but without action from the user.
Msgbox is obviously not the one I'm looking for as it needs customer acknowledge. Is there a solution for this task?

Hey.
My database would like, to make itself feel complete, a rele snazzy opening form.
I have flash 8 and I've created a 1024x768 movie with some simple animation on it.
I've managed to add the movie to the database as a ActiveX flash object and the animations play.
The problem is making the object larger! It's staying very small no matter how I change the properties of the control.
Any help would be much appreciated. For the sake of my databases mental health... of course. :cool:
To attach the movie I did so:

So in my database i'm creating a live form that will open up a list of patients and when they are seen. one of the bits is a button that before they arrive says "Not Arrived" and after they arrive it says "Arrived". The code works fine:
Code:
Private Sub Command68_Click()
Dim C1 As String
Dim C2 As String
[code]...
The problem is after clicking the button on any of the records, it changes the text on all records, to wit: I tried to attach images or links to images, but my post-count is too low. The before-click screenshot is /3QnBkgG on imgur. The after-click screenshot is 9VZWzzp on the same site.
Bear in mind I've only clicked the button (it's white, so it doesn't look like a button) on the top record.The form is set to continuous forms, not sure if that has anything to do with it.how I can get the code to run on individual records, rather than applying the first-record's results across all records?

I'm opening forms to get data then closing using VB code.
Is there a way to stop the screen showing these forms as the code runs
something like Display refresh off then display refresh on.
Just to hide my workings.

So I'm trying to create a running total, to be able to graph a cumulative total. After looking around, I think I've figured out that I need to use a DSUM formula.I basically want to get a cumulative sum of profit in the 4th column.

I have a form which lets the user enter a contract ID and then a combo box that has a list of reports which run against whichever ID is entered.
What I want to know if I put the ID's in a table if theres a way to allow the user to select multiple ID's in one go and run the report against them the range rather than 1 at time?
I'm thinking about utilising the check/tick boxes would this be possible? or another way?
I'm using 2003 and have some VBA ability.

I want to display the message "Processing Record ? of ???..." on the screen while my vba code is running without interruption. Since the msgbox requires the user to click a button to continue, what is the simplest way to display this message on the screen without interrupting the program or requiring user interaction?

Code:
Private Sub Check237_Click()
If Me.Check237.Value = "yes" Then
Me.Text239.Visible = True
Else
Me.Text239.Visible = fasle
End If
End Sub
I am using the code above and what the desired action is when the Check237 is checked then the Text239 is visible for the user to put in a comment. However, as of now when the check237 is checked the textbox dissapears.

I have a fully functioning login screen with a combo box for name and a password box. It also has an option to create a new user or exit the database. On my main form I want the employees to have to log out of the database as opposed to close it out. How would I go about this? Also I need tracking login and logout times for each employee.

I have a bound form with a few fields. I would like to run a sub after some of these fields are modified, but not others. I would like it to run only once, after user finishes his work on the form.
When using the Unload event - the form on the form is not there anymore (or did I get something wrong?).
Is there a way to trap Data on form just before the form closes?

I have made a very simple log on form that requires the user to type in a user name and password. The user name and passwords are stored in a table. New users are added to this table to allow access to the database.
Is there a way I can add a counter to see how many times a particular user has logged onto the database?
Is there a way to make the password expire every 365 days requiring the user to reactivate their account and log in details.

I'm working on a series of forms for a company that I'm currently employed at, and on one of them I've made a listbox which will display records which need action in the next 2 weeks.
That's all going fine. However, it it possible to make the items in the listbox flash red? Just so that our external worker REALLY has no excuses!
Just to clarify, I want the text identifying the records (E.g. Name, FinalDate) to flash, but not the headers for the columns in the listbox.

I'm trying to create a database for a construction company, as an experiment more than anything, and my problem is this:
I need to create a set of identical records in the table "buildings" based on the information entered into a text box by a user on the form for registering a new project. I want each record to be identical except for the "plot number" field, which I want to start at one and increase to the number of buildings defined in the text box.
"Projects" is one table and "Plots" is in the other.

Is there a way of allowing user to reference/update from either databases ? If user enters an item code and it is not found in database A, can the program direct it to retrieve/update from/to database B ? Assuming database A and B are item databases with different contents.

I have a userform that pops up when I am implementing a VBA subroutine. The nature of the form is simply to update the user what progress through the operation the code is using a label called lblProgressText.
So, I have a form called frmProgress and in my loop I use:
Code:
DoEvents
Form_frmProgress.lblProgressText.Caption = Format(rsLongItems.PercentPosition / 100, "0.00%") & " - Long items"
Form_frmProgress.pbProgressBar = rsLongItems.PercentPosition
Form_frmProgress.Requery
Form_frmProgress.Refresh
Form_frmProgress.Repaint
I know I don't need the .requery, .repaint and .refresh lines but I put in there just to check it wasn't that causing the issue.
When my code runs, the form is opened using:
Code:
Form_frmProgress.Modal = False
DoCmd.OpenForm Form_frmProgress.Name, acNormal, , , , acWindowNormal
The form Popup property is set to Yes.
The lblProgressText control just wont update (but earlier today it was so maybe I have broken something).Btw, all this code is run from a Module, not in the form object.

I am creating a form that has a bunch of yes/no box for daily task. Is there a way for access to record which user selects yes/no.
For example
yes/no box1 - user 1 completed this task
yes/no box2 - user 2 completed this task
and so on
So when i look back i can see which user complete which task. I did a bit of research and saw that i can save a user that update a record. But since this is a daily task, each new record will be a new day.

I'm working to create a staffing database that houses changes to staffing week over week.
I have one primary table, the "empMaster" table, that stores the employee's name, contact information, etc. I have other individual tables for noting which employee reports to which manager, what their business title is, what group they're in, their training history, etc.
Once I've populated the empMaster table with employee information, I want a form that allows me to update each of the other tables IF there as a change. Some weeks will have a manager change, some only a business title change, some a group change, some a training change, some all of the above. The problem I run into is that I will sometimes process hundreds of changes a week, sometimes only 10-20 so I almost have to use datasheet view for mass edits. I'm relatively new to Access and I'm having a hard time getting my form to allow this level of flexibility and to update all fields needed.
When I build a form that includes more than two tables (let's say I want to update a Manager and a Business Title), the form will not work and populates nothing. I believe it's because Access wants there to be an existing record to match to across all three tables and there will not always be.
