Forms :: Create Hyperlink To Open Access Form

Jul 10, 2015

I am investigating on the possibility of setting up an approval process for our employee intake procedure by using MS Access and Outlook.

The idea is for the requester to open an intake form in Access and fill in the new employee's information and send an Outlook email to the manager for approval. I know how to trigger off an event on the form to send an email to the manager but my challenge is how to create a hyperlink in the email for the recipient to directly open the intake form with the specific record, without the need to open the database and find the specific intake form.

The intake form is built in a frontend .mde file on a shared drive where all users have access to.

Forms :: Create A Button To Open A Form To Show Specific Records

Mar 4, 2014

I have a main form [Job Quote Form 10-2205] and I am trying to add a command button to open up [Job Process Form-MKD] and have the [Job Process Form-MKD] open up and only show the records that match a certain field, in this case what I call "JobTrackNo" in the [Job Process Form-MKD]. (see attached .jpg)

This problem started to happen only recently, namely you will see that the left column under [Job Quote Form 10-2205] is blank, where normally there had been a number of fields to choose from. The fields are all still available, they are just not opening when I try to match two fields.

Modules & VBA :: Email Hyperlink / Attachment To Open Access File?

May 15, 2015

I have created an action log database that sends an email when a new action is entered. I would like to launch the database using a hyperlink in the email, but can't seem to get it to work. All users have a copy of the front end on their desktop, so whatever I add to the email needs to launch the front end for any user signed on to their own desktop.

This is what I have and it sends a hyperlink but I click it, I get an error saying it can't find the file. I don't know how to word the path name for any user?

With obMsg
.subject = "New action request for " & team
.To = people

Forms :: Use A Hyperlink To Open A Folder Within A Specific Directory

Nov 26, 2014

I have 3 attachment boxes in my table that appears in a form.each attachment box contains specific files (not specific as in extension such as PDF, JPEG, etc.) but specific as in Company Documents, Certifications, Resumes. The issue is there's a lot of document and I see my database growing (fast)...My question finally is....

Can I use a Hyperlink to open a folder within a specific directory where multiple file are located so i can open the specific file need there RATHER than attaching them in the attachment box individually?.?.....If not how this can be done (no SQL) unless that route is very simple and basic coding.

My thinking would be to place the file path to the documents in the table and hyper link that column in the table, but not knowing exactly how Hyperlinks work I don't think it would actually work..

Modules & VBA :: Setting Hyperlink To Open Different Forms / Reports Dynamically?

Oct 18, 2014

I am trying to add a feature in my database dashboard that shows a list of hyperlinks that are the most frequently used forms and reports based upon the user. I can figure out how to capture the event each time the form or report is opened and update a record to increase the count, and build a recordset that will query the table filtering by user and order by frequency...

However, I am stuck on building the hyperlinks that will point to the correct form or reports dynamically.

Specifically, I am not able to update the subaddress using VBA. I get an error that the hyperlink cannot follow to the new form...

Here is my code:

Code:
Private Sub Form_Load()
Dim strUser As String
Dim strApp As String
strUser = Environ("username")
strApp = "frmTest1"
Me.txtUser = strUser
Me.txtLink3 = strApp
Me.txtLink1 = strApp
Me.hypTest.Hyperlink.SubAddress = strApp
End Sub

Forms :: Create A Report Using Currently Open Record?

May 12, 2015

I am creating a database to store patient ultrasound reports in a clinic. The form I've designed contains a single patient's report with various values and measurements. I need a button on that form that opens a report showing ONLY THAT PATIENT'S data.

So, for example, if I've opened the form (AbdomenForm) on patient with ID 4, when I press this button, it should open the report showing only patient ID 4's data.

I can get it to work manually by creating a query (AbdomenQuery) that contains 4 in the criteria for ID (my table's primary key). Then I made a report (AbdomenReport) that uses AbdomenQuery as its data source and everything turns out well.

Now, how do I go about making a button on the form so that when patient ID 5 is open, that button opens the report for only patient ID 5? What code should I use and where should I put it?

Forms :: Access Will Not Open New Form With Specific Data Instead It Returns All

May 2, 2013

I am currently creating a database in a hierarchical system that is to be used by multiple users to enter information specific to them. The tables are arranged like this:

Owners
Modules
Tasks
Highlights

Theses are connected using primary ID's and Particular Entries in the next table so they form a hierarchy - when you expand owners it brings up a list of Modules attached to that owner, then expand each module and it brings up a list of tasks associated with that module, expand the task and it brings up a list of highlights associated with that task. This is all very straightforward of course but what I would like to do is create forms that basically match so that the users can navigate from their name, through their modules and tasks and then add highlights to each task.

For this I have been using continuous forms to list all the different entries and inserting a button in each entry that I would like to link to the next form and find the specific data, however when I try to do this the button always without fail will just return all the entries from the form rather than the specific ones requested. I set up the button using the wizard and select 'open form and find specific data' and then select two entries that are identical on each form. I have trawled the internet quite a bit to try and find why this is happening and have inserted various bits of code etc into the embedded macro in an attempt to make it work but to no avail.

I wonder if there is something I need to activate on the form that the button connects to aswel or if I need to connect these forms using the relationship that I used to connect the tables (I am still using a unique identifier).If I connect to a single form it will display the first entry on the list (and I can cycle through them all) on a continuous form it will display all entries starting with the first.I would like it to display all entries for the selected record on the form.

Hyperlink Roll Over Effect On The Access Form

Nov 11, 2005

Hello,
I have a MS Access form with a few hyperlinks on it. I have tried to achieve effect similar to hyperlink roll over effect on a web page: when mouse pointer goes over a hyperlink it changes colour, etc.
Unfortunately, all I could find was MouseMove event:
Sub Label_MouseMove
Label.ForeColour=vbBlue
End Sub

But in this case hyperlink stays blue even after mouse pointer leaves it. And I would like hyperlink get back it's initial colour.

Thank you

Forms :: Hyperlink To Tabbed Form

May 5, 2015

I've set hyperlinks to a couple of forms using the hyperlink address in properties. All works fine, and I've done it this way because the cursor changes to pointy hand when hovering over.

However, I need to navigate to a tabbed form in a main form.

Is there a way of doing this? I've been searching all sorts, and the most probable is to concatenate the destination?

description##Page1#page2... or something like that?

Is this correct?

What ever I've tried doesn't work, this includes ...

adding the main form destination to Hyperlink Address, and tabbed form in the SubAddress (Can't find main form)

Using the hyperlink builder. (Can't find anything)

Objects in this database (Only one form).

Modules & VBA :: Create And Open Variable Folders With Link Created In Access Query

Aug 5, 2014

I am trying to set up something to be able to take me to a folder that holds various forms for personnel. I have a query that generates the link for each person. I have tried to set it up as a hyperlink in ACCESS 2013 and it displays as one but doesn't act like one.

I want to be able to click the link and have it open up a personnel folder for that individual. I can't find a MACRO that I can create to do it. Example of my query is that it creates a link K:Main BreakdownSection BreakdownPersonnel FoldersName and the name is the variable part.

My next problem will be to have it create that folder when we have new personnel arriving.

I would also note that I have not worked with ACCESS in many years and much of what I was able to do with 2002 and 2003 doesn't work with the newer versions of ACCESS.

Create Automatic Interchangable Hyperlink

Jun 6, 2007

I am attempting to creae a hyperlink to set into a table that is generated automatically by other information curently residing on the table, and with the ability to change the disc location.

The table I have created is an application that will name reports that I have in .PDF format. I put in the report title, date, inspectors, etc. and it gives me a unique name for the document. I then go to my document and name it what the application gives me. Now, we would like to have a link to that file that resides on the table, so if we look it up in the future we don't have to search any further, we can just click right there and go strait to it.

I know how to insert a hyperlink to get to the file, assuming it stays on the same directory. Our directories change fairly often (can go from C:/My Docs/File to E:/My Docs/File in a matter of a week), so I would like to know if there is a way to create a partial hyperlink that I can change the begining to whenever need be.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly apericiated.

Thanks guys!

Create Checkboxes During Form Open Based On Query

Feb 20, 2005

I am working on a database that tracks products. The products are divided into groups (Bath Salt, Stick Incense, Candle, etc.) and these are store in a table. The products themselves are stored in another table.

When a new scent is created, it can belong to multiple groups ... for instance, Strwberry Vanilla could be a perfume, a bath salt, a candle, stick incense.

When the form is opened, I want to read the contents of the groups table and create a check box for each entry.

I do not really want to use a list/combo box for this task ... would prefer to be able to check in a list of boxes to specify what groups to create entries for when a new product is entered.

Thanks
Phil
