Forms :: Reset Value Back To Previous Value If Not Valid And Then Change Focus To Another Control
Oct 21, 2013I have an unbound form with a combobox which needs to be validated before the control is updated.In the Before Update event I check that the value is valid and need to reset the value back to the previous value if not valid and then change focus to another control.I thought that the following code would work but the selected value remains in the control and I cannot move the focus to another control.

Forms Instead Of <Variable>: [Prompt] In Queries/reports
Mar 30, 2005Ok, so now this is where it's getting more complicated... (though I guess this is where you guys usually start)
When you have a query, and you type in your inputbox thingy like so:

PeriodEnd: [Enter period end date dd/mm/yyyy: ]
And you can have multiple, then it will prompt you for several of them.
Now this is not very tidy, so I'd rather do it on a form. How can I display the form as the query/report runs, and insert the values entered into the form as the inputs into my variables? (This case PeriodEnd)

Queries :: Parameter Query Prompt Twice In Forms
Aug 27, 2014it also prompts twice when i try printing or try to save the current page as a pdf and also when i switch record? i think its a problem with the subform as it always is trying to fetch data. would there be a way to make it so that the subform and the form are linked so that the parameter query prompts once and the information stays there rather then having to prompt again when printing or saving as pdf?Two more things - on my total value box i wish to be able to always show 2 decimal places
The code already in place is :
Net : =Sum([TotalValue])
VAT: =Sum([TotalValue])*0.2
Gross: =[Text8]+[Text10]
(Net is Text8 and VAT is Text10)
i have already specified that the decimal place value is 2 instead of auto but it still doesnt work - if the number is a whole number i still wish to see .00 at the end of the field.One last thing - Would their be a way to carry over the information from my delivery note to my invoice note? which would save a lot of time retyping the parameter query.

Is there a setting for this in the form design. Or do I need VBA, in which case what form event would I tie the msg box too?
Forms :: Closing Command Button Won't Bring Up Prompt
Jan 6, 2014In the past I've used command buttons with both VBA & Macros to bring up a prompt to save or discard changes to the current record then close the current form.For some reason, on just one single form that I just created, none of the techniques seem to work. It will close the form but will automatically save changes without bringing up a prompt. I've tried creating buttons from scratch, trying out both Macros & VBA, and I've tried copying/pasting buttons from other forms--of course making the appropriate changes.

When I click on some of the records on the list box the form closes. On some of the records I get a parameter prompt to enter:

Forms!frmSelectWebOrderToOpen!dteEndDate
I inserted the echo commands to prevent this, but this has not worked!
Why am I getting the prompts? How do I prevent them?
Forms :: Text Prompt In Fields When Bound To A Numeric Field
Sep 12, 2014I have several combo box fields in a bound form where they are selecting values from a list (values stored in a separate table) and then loading a number into the bound table field when selected.
How can I put a text prompt in these fields when loading the form which gets removed when focused and of course is not permitted to attempt a save into the bound numeric fields? I've done quite a bit of searching but can only find materials about doing this on bound text fields. I've also seen solutions using Nz which don't seem to work.
Forms :: Can't Get DLookup To Work
Oct 16, 2014I'm trying to build a form that Pulls data from several tables, though will update only one. I'm having issues right now with a field that is supposed to draw from a query. I made a query that is supposed to concatenate different fields in another table, look for duplicated words and remove them, but although that isn't working yet, that's not my issue. My issue is that the DLookup in the form isn't even trying to look at the query. The query prints out workshop IDS and a concatenated field right now, so there is data to pull.

Jul 23, 2014I have a new Customer Form(Profile) and I have the same customer data in another Table(Contacts).
I create a Dlookup... the system pull the data correctly from my Combobox but when I try to close the form, the system display a error like: The first name is empty...
I think the Dlookup need something to update the new table.

I am having a problem with computation of monthly actual generated from the Amount column which is in a purchase order table..... The monthly budget amount is generated in a query named category query... I have computed like Jan Feb Mar till Dec the column fields in the query.... A form named PO form has been created with the category item combo box ....
The problem is when a user selects a combox box he or she is presented with the monthly actual textbox that shows the amount computed( on a fiscal basis(not calendar days)) and that is done by looking up at the date converting into a month and then computing the amount for that particular category item selected...sum done if there was the same category item like repairs and maintenance done for this amount on the same month different date...I need a way to look up at the date convert into a month and then show the sum in the field textbox using the Dlookup function ..>Can this be done??)
Monthly budget I cant figure a way to get the monthly budget by looking up at the date and show the computed amount on a "fiscal basis" since the monthly budget for different months jan feb mar is computed seperately in seperate fields in the query

Jun 17, 2013I have a form for new customers. One of the fields is the product they have chosen ("new model", "old model", etc.) in a drop down Combo box. I want default pricing to appear in the form based on the what user selects for the product. But, I am getting nothing shown in the price box after choosing the product.
I've tried two approaches but with no luck. What am I doing wrong? This is in the default property for "price"

Forms :: DLookup As Source For Text Box
Jun 2, 2014Database has a form on which the user is to select a PP Type. This is a choice of up to 8 different kinds of types. There is a table in the database that keeps track of what each of these types are, either a pallet or a case. I need to create an unbound text box on the form that will display wether the chosen Type is a pallet or case. I understand DLookUp is the way to go on this but I am having a problem with the where clause part of the code.
What I am trying to write here is display in the text box the "Pallet Case" field in the "PP Type TBL", where the "PP Type" field of the "PP Type TBL" is the same as the selection in the combo box name "Type". PP FRM is the name of the form I am working on and where the text box is as well as the combo box.
DLookup("[Pallet Case]", "[PP Type TBL]", "[PP Type] = " & Forms![PP FRM]![Type])
I get #Error in the text box. My confusion is how do I refer to the PP Type as it is int he PP Type TBL in the criteria?
Forms :: DLookup To (print) Another Table's Value
Mar 29, 2013I have two tables each containing fields Brand, Form, Area. Table 1 has some other information that needs to be gathered (data entry) and Table 2 is just a reference table for changes to these areas. This reference table has an additional field labeled area point value which is the value I want to "print".
The form is based off of Table 1 and has all of the fields I want the users to input. Stripped down, I have three combo boxes for the user to choose Brand, Form, and Area...I also have an unbound textbox control where I want the area point value to based off of the value of the three aforementioned boxes.. I believe this can be achieved with a lookup but I've never actually used a lookup in a control this complex before...

Forms :: DLookup - Changing Value In A Form
Feb 26, 2014I'm making a form for colleagues to use which will eventually populate a table. I'm using DLookup to populate some of the fields in the form from another table. The problem is that for a few of the fields in that other table, the values are incorrect.
(Obviously the most sensible thing to do would be to amend the source data but for various reasons I cannot do that.)
For example, "date built" in the original table might be "f" but that needs to be changed to "h", so I tried the following but it doesn't work:

Jun 4, 2013I have an old Access 2000 database which needs some functionality update, and I can't get things working as they should.
The issue is related to frmOrderDetails form based on tblOrderDetails table, with following fields:
Order_ID
Product_ID
Ordered_Quantity
Product_Price
For entering ordered products there is a combo box for Product_ID which is displaying information about available products, their stock level, and price.
The Row source for Product_ID looks like this:

Because I can buy one product from different suppliers (for different purchase prices) and purchase prices (so selling prices too) of the same product may vary over time, qryStock4Orders may list more then 1 available Selling_Price for that product, for example:

Value Isn't Valid Error
Dec 4, 2005I have a sub form in a tabbed control that collects client income data. A subform of that [Tax table calc frm] calculates the tax payable and the following code displays the result in the [c1TaxMedi] and [c2taxmedi] fields on the income form.

The problem is that when I put data in the clients wages field then click the command button I get an error message "Run-Time error-2147352567(80020009) The value you entered isn't valid for this field.
When I go into debug the line Me.C1TaxMedi = Form![Tax Table Calc Frm].Form![Text58] is highlighted. If I don't do anything except close the debug window and return to the form the currency is display correctly in wages and if I press the command button again I get the tax to display without any errors.
I cannot fathom what is wrong with this code to get this effect.

Not Valid Path
Feb 3, 2004I have transfered an MS Access file to my PC from another, but when i try to open the forms in the database, an error occurs.It states that the path is not valid.
How can i correct the path?
Do i have to define the path for each form, report an etc seperately?
