Dsum Function In A Query

Mar 19, 2007

hello
i have a query summing sales data by month.
what i need to do is be able to list in this query the sales summed for same period last year.
I have some other criteria but this is the just of it.
trying to use a dsum function in the query itself and using product id and date range derived from fields that calc starting date last year and ending date last year for time period.

example , sum this years jan and feb 2007 sales and also have the dsum function sum jan and feb sales of 2006 in a field right next to the 07 values.

I can not get the dsum function to work???
any
ideas????

i enen tried creating a temp table with the 07 sales data summed and values for each period in seperate fields ie date1 = 01/01/06 and date2 = 1/31/2006 and the same for feb. The dsum did not work that way either.
If i hard code the dates into the dsum it works by i would like it to be more dynamic based on the date1 and date2 values.

Aggregate Function DSUM

Feb 17, 2008

Hi All,

I have a table namely, leave_details wherein there is a column called DAYS and TDAYS,
DAYS columns represent number of leaves an employee has taken in a single leave application and
TDAYS represents Total number of leaves an employee has availled till date.

To calculate the TDAYS i need to SUM the DAYS column for every employee.

When an employee again log in the application he should be aware of the total number of leaves which he has already availed.

Please help me for the same as I am unable to do so.

Kindly revert back for any queries or any further information.

With Warm Regards,
Sanjay

Pareto Graph And The DSum Function

May 1, 2008

Hi All,

I currently have a Pareto graph created by a query, that counts occurence and then uses the Dsum function to create the cumalative %. The function is as follows:

CumPct: DSum("[CountofConcern_Number]","qry_ProbByConcern","[CountofConcern_Number]>=" & [Total Concerns] & "")/DSum("[CountofConcern_Number]","qry_ProbByConcern")

This is as per MS article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/208373

Now this is OK and is as per the MS article but if you have counts that are the same, it just give the same cumalative % for each one that is the same. Please see attached image for an example of what this query produces.

Does anyone know how I can sort this out? TIA

Forms :: DSum On Main Form From Subform

Aug 11, 2015

I have a subform from which I want to calculate values into a text box on the main form, to keep a running total of weeks for individuals. Using the expression builder to just add the fields, I only get the total for the current sub-form record. If another record is added to the subform, the total reverts to zero, and then it takes that record's input as the total. Which makes logical sense.

I think I need to do a 'DSum' from the subform/table, but I'm not sure how to sum for just the current ID/individual. I have tried to bodge it myself with the expression builder, but it tells me that 'the function contains the wrong number of arguments'.

Forms :: Using DSum In Text Box

Jun 23, 2015

I have a volunteer information database, and I am working on the form that will show the details of each volunteer's hours worked, among other things.

I've attached screenshots of a more or less final version of the Relationships (I've tweaked it a little in the last day or so but nothing life-altering), the section of the form in question, and a query I wrote (probably incorrectly) that does return hours on a given month sorted by NameID, which is useful, but doesn't put the information into fields like I'd imagined I could. If I can't figure out how to make what I'd like work, I guess I could just put a subform that displays the results of the query, but I'd rather do it another way.

I tried this in the controls for each field:

Code : DSum( [tblHoursWorked]![MonthWorked] , "MonthWorked='November'")

Obviously switching out the months, but I'm getting the response of #Name? in each field. No syntax error so I'm not sure if I have something configured incorrectly in the text boxes or if there's a problem with the function.

Forms :: DSum With Multiple Criteria

Apr 30, 2014

I have a dsum statement with multiple criteria that I cant get to work. Basically it returns no records, when it should return records that have a CategoryID = 1 and a State/Province = 14.

Code:
TotalSMECount = Nz(DSum("WorkingDays", "qryTotalUsageForDashboardNew", "CategoryID = 1" And "State/Province = " & Me.cboProvinceFilter.Column(2) & "")) + Nz(DSum("UsageDays", "qryEquipmentDaysRapidProtoCumulative", "CategoryID = 1"))

I am guessing that I just have the criteria portion written incorrectly Is there anything obviously wrong? For the record, when I debug.print Me.cbo Province Filter.Column(2) it returns the value '14', which is correct for my test data.

Help With Dsum/Query In Form

Feb 21, 2008

Just a quick one,

I have a TextBox in my form, that currently has this DSum in it:
=DSum("QtyAdd","Orders","ProdID")-DSum("QtySub","Output","ProdID")

(ProdID is another TextBox in the form, QtyAdd is from the Orders table, and QtySub is from the Output table)

I'm also wanting to query it with more WHERE statements but finding I can only do this once with a DSum.

I'm wanting to effectively do this:
=DSum("QtyAdd","Orders","ProdID AND StockItem = Yes AND Arrival = Yes")-DSum("QtySub","Output","ProdID AND Dispatch = Yes")

So, WHERE the field StockItem and Arrival = Yes in the Orders table and WHERE Dispatch = Yes in the Output table.

Does anyone know how I can achieve this?

I was thinking an SQL query but don't know how to display a Query into a TextBox.

Thanks.

I Want To Avoid Using DSUM In This Form. Dont Know How!

Aug 15, 2005

I have a form based on a lengthy SQL query.

I have several controls in this form whose control Source has the following formula:

=Nz(DSum("Capital","Capital_Act","DatePart('q', CVDate([Capital_Month] & ' 1')) = 1 And [projectid]=" & "'" & [projectid] & "'"),0)

When I navigate from one record to another record in this form, the values in the controls take a looooong time to populate (most of the time they come up as blank and when I move my mouse over that control - the value gets populated....this is slow !!!).

I believe this is happenning because I am using DSUM function all over the form.

What is the fastest way to display this control WITHOUT using DSUM?

Many thanks!

Forms :: DateDiff Function Not Working In A Form

Aug 14, 2014

I have a specific question on the datediff function.

My example is =DateDiff("d",[Policy Issue Date],Date()) where [Policy Issue Date] is the inception date of an Insurance Policy.

I need to determine how many days the policy has been inforce. The formula works great in a query and I can see the number of days in that field when the query is run.

However, my dilemma is I want the same function to run off of a text box using its control source property and have the number of days calculate and be visible for each record on the form. This part is not working and the field is returning the #Error? message.

Forms :: How To Use Count Function In Navigation Form

Jun 1, 2014

I want to be able to use the Count function that will reside in the header of the main navigation form that will count the records in each navigation sub form (of which there are 6 sub forms)

Each sub form has the same primary key which is what I am doing the count on.

I have done this on another form with no subforms by creating a Textbox with this code: =Count([PCNumber])

I have tried to put this in the header of the main navigation form with various itterations, the last being: =Count([Form]![NavigationSubform].[PCNumber])

But what ever I do seems to come up with "Error" in the textbox.

For info, the form names are:

Main form :StockViewsForm
Subform:NavigationSubform

PCNumber being the PK I want to count.

Is this possible of do I need to specify the names of the actual forms that reside in the Navigation Sub Form ??

Forms :: Restrict User To Enter Data If Dsum Exceeds Total

Sep 8, 2014

I need to be able to restrict users enter a value in the text box (on Form B) called "FTE Assigned" if Dsum of a field called "FTE Allocated" in another form A is less than what is going to be sum of FTE Assigned after the value is entered.

Both these forms are used by users to enter data in the 2 separate tables which are linked together through a join.

Master table - having FTE Allocated values and secondary table having FTE Assigned values.

Basically a message box would do if Dsum (of FTE used) is coming out higher than FTE allocated.

Forms :: Combo Box - Search Function Not Working Within Form

Jul 23, 2015

I recently created a database to be used to store incoming invoices. We have 4 suppliers which supply the same material and wanted each supplier to have its own database.

I began by making a database which included all the key tables, forms, queries and functions I would need to then save 4 copies, one for each supplier. This just meant I would not have to repeat the process for each individual supplier.

The problem is all my data is external and upon importing it into the database it has made the search function (combo box) not return results.

I believe this is because:
1) The form was created before the records existed
2) The records were imported from an external source and not created using the form.

However, the way I have designed the form is so I can see all relevant information linked with a specific invoice. This aids in gathering information quickly about an invoice but also so I can input credit note and invoice query information linked to a specific invoice on the same page.

Is there anyway to remedy this?

Or use a similar search function that returns records in my form "Main View"

The last thing I want to do is have to create the form again, although I don't think this will work either as reason 2) states.

Forms :: Refreshing Table Form Through Search Function

Apr 7, 2015

I am having some minor issues with my current database. The way it works currently is having a MainMenu where you can either go to customers/ ProductList/ Product OR ProductList straight away. I have a CustomerT and a ProductT. I have made a Query where I link the two tabels to have the feature showing the customer to the specific product with the criteria: "Kunde: [CustomerName] & " " & [Subsidiary]" on the form I have a txtsearch (Textbox) connected to a button with this coding:

Private Sub Kommandoknap49_Click()
Dim strsearch As String
Dim strText As String
If (Len(txtsearch.Value) > 0) Then
strText = Me.txtsearch.Value

[code]....

This allows me to search for text in each of the boxes with information on the single product(s) for example searching for Kunde (Customer in Danish) or ProduktNavn (Name of product) HOWEVER when I do this the "Kunde" turns into "#Navn?" c..If i reopen the Form it will show with the right information. I also tried to code the "Byactivation" to

PHP Code:

Forms :: SUM Function Produces Error From Calculated Function

Jan 30, 2014

I have a project at hand and it's been a predecessor of mine and client has asked me to do some work on it and extend functionality - but I have not really delved into Access before and I have had to worked my way through to this final snag :/

The Main Form has one sub form. This sub form allows the user to add multiple order items i.e. qty, stock, description from records within the system - fairly straight forward. At the last column of each row is the sub total of those particular items i.e.

Qty Unit | Item ID | Total
-----------------------
2 | 1234 | 80.00
------------------------
1 | 43526 | 20.00
------------------------
> | |

So the total is a function of =[Qty Unit] * [Unit Price].Then in the Footer of this SubForm is the Sub Total

=SUM([Qty Unit] * [Unit Price])

All fine and well..... However, the additional functionality kicks in.

Lets add the additional customer_id from the Main Form. Each Item bought is dependent on the customer_id i.e. they get special prices depending on who they are.So a New table is made which has the Item ID and SpecialPriceID (of a table to define as a specialPrice) and the Price linked to this Item and Special Price category. So say that there are two groups of users "wholesale" and "nonwholesale" these would be SP_1 and SP_2 and each client is defined either one of these, and each stock item has a Price for each SP_1 and SP_2. Hopefully I've explained myself there.

Back to the SubForm. So now the Total needs to calculated differently with needed the external customer_id from the Main Form.

Code:

Function CalculateSpecialPrice(ItemID As String, CustomerID As String, Unit As Integer)
Dim SPSelect As String
SPSelect = "SELECT Price FROM [Items_SpecialPrices] WHERE"
SPSelect = SPSelect & " ItemID = '" & ItemID
SPSelect = SPSelect & "' AND SpecialPriceID = (SELECT SpecialPriceID FROM Customers WHERE customer_id = " & CustomerID & ") "

[code]....

its the sub total I just keep on getting #Error on. I have even watched (using alerts) that the correct return variable is the same as the individual rows. This is the equation I used for the SubTotal within the footer.

=SUM(CalculateSpecialPrice([Item ID], [Form]![FormName]![CustomerID], [Qty Unit]))
#Error
