I am extremely new to Access. I have my database up and running ok(ish) and would like to know if in my data entry form, I can have the "Date Entered in Database" box display the current date that does not change from day to day. I know you can use the "Now()" function but won't this just change everyday?

I have a subform (based on table "Source") that allows the user to create a new record in another table "Events" (it copies some entries to facilitate entering new data). The data should then be dispayed in another subform. However, the newly created redord is does not show in the subform although I use Me.Refresh. When I close the form and then open it again it works - but there has to be an easier way.
How can I reload the data from the table. I have looked but am unable to find the right method.
The code:

I am a little familiar with Access but having a problem figuring out how to alert a user that the date entered on a form is not the current month. I was hoping to have a warning msgbox pop up alerting the user. I am trying to prevent incorrect date entry.

The user is copying a date from an old form.
Sometimes the form will have the date entered as 00/00/97
How can I change the month and day to 01/01 and of course leave the year as it was.
I've tried using split with no success.

I have a quick question on how to enter the current date in a record automatically when the record is created.
Here is the situation. Say I have a Products table that lists the products that have come into the inventory. There is a field that denotes the day the product was introduced into the inventory. So ideally when the user creates a new record for the product, I would like this field to be populated automatically with the actual date that this filed was created by the user. Note that in future the user may edit the product (i.e other fields in this record), but the entry_date field should not be altered from what it was the first time is was created.
Is there a way I can do this? Any help much appreciated. thanks.
I have created a basic Volunteer Events and Hours Volunteered tracking database.
I created a form Volunteer Hours to allow an end user to use that form to record the volunteer and hours volunteered on a specific Event. There are two tables needed in the form Volunteer Hours to be used for the end users to record the Event, Volunteer, Date and Hours. The form has drill down fields from two tables:
Table A - Volunteer Events (event name, date, descr, owner, co-owner, loc, status)
Table B - Volunteers (name, co, div, emp#,title)
I want to be able to select the Volunteer Event and have the event date automatically populate in the Volunteer Hours form date field when the Event is selected to eliminate the end user from having to enter the date in.
Also; I would like to be able to add more than one volunteer at a time to an event on the form, this would also decrease the data entry time.
Are one or both of these things possible?
In my main form, there is this date entry selection and a subform with data on it.
How can I make the subform filter its data from date entry selection?
I have already created a relationships for my tables
I created a query for this subform (should I need to?)
It does not refresh my subform or I do not know what to do?
I have a db that is a checkbook register. I use a field in each transaction record to tell whether the transaction is current or is a future transaction (if it is in the future then it doesn't yet affect my balance). For instance, if the item is not scheduled to be paid for two weeks (I schedule payments with online banking), I check the "future item" box, then that record for that item isn't included in the report that tells me my current balance. How can I automatically take away that check mark on records when the date in that record becomes todays date (or before today)? Because at that point it is no longer a "future" transaction but is current. I could do this manually but it seems like there should be a way to do it automatically.

I don't know where the mistake is occurring or indeed I don't know if the error is in the table or in the form.
The form is showing full length of the text but when I look it in the table, it has just one or two bits of the full length.
I have a form that each day needs to be filled in by staff of their activities.
By selecting a date, I want to the textbox to display the contents of the comments memo pad field in the table (tblToday...columns are t_date and t_comments).
My very limited access and previous SQL knowledge has eluded me and cannot fathom how to get the text box to show data based on the date selected?
What I really need is for when the form opens, it looks at todays date, then matches current user and then goes to that record for today, if no current user there, then will goto new record..

I have a report that shows all visit dates and the rep that did the visit. How do I only show the most current data. I use an append query to add records to a specific table. The report pulls from that table.

So, for example: I have 3-OVI, 3-Conduct Unbecoming, and 3-Did not transport for the current year.
When I run my report, it will show the above data for the current year, but in this format;
OVI-1
OVI-1
OVI-1
Conduct Unbecoming-1
and so on.
What I would like is;
OVI-3
Conduct Unbecoming-3
Did not transport-3
Total-9
If I take out the date code for the current year in my query, then I get the desired results but I get all data.
If I leave the date code in, then I get the data for the current year but I get the first example above.

I have created a databse with three tables that are linked (customers, quotes and invoices). I have my main form (customers) with two sub forms (quotes and invoices).
Is it possible to create a query to show the data just from the current form that i am viewing?

i've designed a rental database (which seems to do what i want) - it's not perfect....
But i can't figure out how to accomplish this.
If i have a tenant, who has previously had a lease agreement on one of my properties, but then moves out, and then moves into one of my new properties, i can't seem to see how to get access to display just the new lease details.
I've attached a blank copy of the DB with some sample data to illustrate this.
you will see that test tenant has two leases, one expired lease, and one active lease, but on the main form it just shows the expired (original lease)....
is their a way to have a query to only show data on every monday in current month.

I have a little "y2k issue".
My DB has many (!) forms that are based on Crosstabs queries. The headers are years, and therefore my formfields has controlsources like 2014, 2015 and so on.
Example:
The table it comes from looks something like this:
tblProject
Project: Myproject
Value: 1000
EndYear: 2014
The crosstab then takes the EndYear as a coloumn header. Then my forms use these fields, now named 2014, 2015, 2016 .... and give me a nice looking table showing the accumulated "end" for multiple projects.
The problem is when the year changes after 31/12, all fields must manually be changed. This means I have to manually change 2014 to 2015, 2015 to 2016 and so on in all of my formsfields controllsource.
I have played around to find a way to change the source of the field, and hoped I could say something like =year(now()) and for the next year say =year(now())+1 but this only returns that year as a value, and not as a controlsource...
The query functions nicely (ive changed the system time, and it has no issues with this structure), but the forms source is still in the previous year, and returns and error (of course).
When the year changes past new years eve, so will the headers (fieldname) change... but how to make the form change fieldsource?
I create a database through ms access and there have a birth date box and admission date. Another box for Age.I want to see the age in month or year figure in to the age box when I go next field. Which will be calculate from admission date to birth date.

I want to be able to differentiate between current and past staff using different colors, i.e. Black text for current employees and red for employees who have left, based on a field (True/False) in the original staff table.
in a continuous form i want to click on one record and have the one field change the background colour to highlight it. When I use the code: Field. BackColor = vbYellow it changes the background on all the records. Is there a code to say only for the record with focus?

There is vba to populate the appropriate Monday when the user selects something other than Monday via the date picker. This code is in the on change event. However, this is not friendly to a user entering a date in this field. I did try after update event, but that requires user to leave the "week of" field. This is not acceptable in this instance, there are other form fields that change as a result of this "week of" value.I also tried evaluating the length of the text or else exiting the code. However, I was expecting the date being returned from the date picker to always be 10 positions, but for March 3rd, it would return 3/3/2015...which is only 8 positions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the button color on a subform if a related form data changes.Main form is products with a continuous subform with serial numbers of products i.e, serial number, location, price and a button to add addtional issues if there are any for this particular serial number (this will open up another form related to the serial number so I can add an issues if there are any).The reason I would like the button to be a different color is so I can quickly see if there are any additional notes been added to the serial number. Just in case you may ask why not add the field to the continuos form is that the issues and be quite lengthy and there may be lots of serial numbers on the form

I wish to change the backcolor of a field on a current record being dispalyed in a 'multiple items' form. However when using me.A.backcolor = makes refrence to all fields called A on the 'multiple items' form and therefore all fields change colour not just the current record.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to change a combo box to a text box control in a subform for a field that is based on a two-column value list. I want to be able show the value in the unbound column (which is a text value instead of a number).
My subform has a field called "ProjectStatus". This field is a value list in my projects table with the following row source:
1;"Built";2;"Unbuilt";3;"Active";4;"On Hold";5;"Completed (Master Plan)";0
So, it is set as a two-column value list with a number data type for the bound column. In my forms, column 1 is made invisible (set to 0") so that only the text value is shown to the user. This works fine with combo boxes.
However, I want to change the unsightly combo box to a text box and show the text value of the unbound column (this form will only be used to show data not for entry). When I change it to a text box control, the value that appears is a number, of course.
If ProjectStatus were based on a table, rather than a lookup value list, I would query it but I am not sure how it should be done with a value list. I could just store the text value instead, I guess, and redo a bunch of stuff or I could create a "Status" table and redo a bunch of stuff (this seems like my lot in life lately) but I feel like there should be some way to do this.
