I am want to validate the data in a table column as per the data in a corresponding column in teh same table.
Ex. I have a table with column "Frequency" of datatype Text. And other 12column are in the name of the months. i.e. Jan, Feb etc of datatype "Yes/No" in checkbox format. Default value as false.
I have only 4 different values i.e. Yearly, Half Yearly, Quarterly And Monthly.
If the value is Yealy then I should able to change the value on Only "Jan" from False to True.
Similarly If the value is Yearly then I should able to change the value on Only "Jan" & "July" from False to True.
Same holds true for Quarterly changing the values only of March, June, Sep & Dec from false to true.
Here is my dilemma: I have a table where I am entering data for quantity of a product received. This data is further segregated by the mill it comes from, the grade it is, and the size it is. I have a second table where I track the output from when the product is processed through our system.
I need to be able to query / report the difference between these two sums (i.e. sum of total qty received from that mill/size/grade versus the total processed from that mill/size/grade). Basically, I am creating an inventory report showing how much "raw" product I have, grouped by the mill then the grade and then the size. I have to sort the data out this way because I purchase the exact same grade and size product from more than one mill.
My problem is that any query I have created so far wants to only show data from the two tables where the mill/grade/size match. In other words, if I have product that has been received, but nothing has been processed from that mill/grade/size combination, then I don't get data showing up at all. I need to be able to show all sums of product from the "receipt" side, and then only the "processing" data where I actually have processed something from that mill/size/grade combination, then show the difference. So the result would show something like "50 received, 0 processed, resulting in 50 on-hand" for that mill/grade/size.
When I learnt to use vba in excel (to basic level) I was always advised in a userform to validate data at end of record input i.e. when pressing enter and next. Is this true also with access or should i be putting validation rules at the afterupdate stage of a particular control?
I'm a BA so i'm converting my excel issues list into a database with a front end where i can create new issue records this uses a form that sits on top of the issues_table.
Howver, i have created a table called Projects and a table called Test_Plans
Each issue is logged against a project and a test plan. Lets say ProjectA has TestPlan1 and ProjectB has Testplan2.
On my issues form, i can select ProjectA in the project field.
In the Testplan field i can select EITHER TestPlan1 or Testplan2
Testplan1 is the only valid entry.
How do i
a) Once I have selected ProjectA in the Project field only display Testplan1 in the Testplan field?
or
b) If the user tries to enter testplan2 for it to error?
I've tried creating a query and linking the controlsource field to it but it doesn't like that!
I've two tables, QA (Quality Assurance) and Instruments. I'm using form to add data to QA.
There's a field in QA, named InstrumentUsed. The criteria is that InstrmentUsed should only accept value when 'status' field in Instruments table shows 'working'. If status is 'faulty' or 'need repair', it should pop up the related error message and cursor stays on the same field.
I've not starting learning VBA yet, so I'm trying to make use of Macro's.
How to use data from another table as a validation criteria for a field in form?
Pops up a MessageBox and stays on the same field, on the form, unless error is resolved?
Is there a way to have multiple validation rules in one column in a table. In one column, I need the values to be in all lower case and the first three characters need to be three letters.
How to create a table in MS Office. Current table has name in first column and start & finish dates in other two columns. It is necessary to create a table in MS Access which has name in the first column and validation dates in the second column. For Example:
currently
1. White 16 xxxx19 2. Black 1 xxxx 5
required
1. White 17 1. White 18 2. Black 2 2. Black 3 2. Black 4
This is a form used to enter in the hours worked for each employee for any particular job. What I'm trying to do, is show a total for all the hours worked for the job in a text box under the list. The cells that I want to total up are named "StartTime" and "EndTime," and they come from "tblRelEventEmployee." The form shown here is "frmEvent."
Each job can have anywhere from 1 - 30 employees, and I need to be able to basically have a calculation that does EndTime-StartTime for each employee, and then add up the total for each to give me a grand total of hours worked for the job.
Dim i As Integer, c As String With Me.ListBox.Column(0) For i = 0 To Me.ListBox.ListCount - 1 c = c & Me.ListBox.ItemData(i) & ", " Next End With c = Left(c, Len(c) - 2)
This works great!! Now I am trying to concatenate the column 3 of the listbox.
Tried to use the code below (pointing to the second column) but it always returns the first column data.
'Dim i As Integer, d As String With Me.ListBox.Column(2) For i = 0 To Me.ListBox.ListCount - 1 d = d & Me.ListBox.ItemData(i) & ", " Next End With d = Left(d, Len(d) - 2)
ItemData does not allow pointing to my 3 column of the listbox.
I am trying to run a simple update query to copy data from one column (Addrl1)to another column (Working_Addrl1) within the same file and I can't for the life of me figure it out. Then I need to repeat for addrl2 and addrl3 to working_addrl2 and working_addrl3.
Below is a formula that I have in my query. The problem I now have come up with is sometimes I will not want the allocated qty to be summed back onto the qty outstanding.
I have more fields in my form ( allocation)of which one is called " consumable" what I need the formula below to do is the consumable is not empty then don't add the " qty allocated" to the "qty outstanding"
I need to input a string into a column named "EventType". The code should first check if the column "Agent Name" contains any strings. If there is none, it will input "IBM Director" into the EventType column.
Once it has looped through the agent names, the code will then loop through the Details column and input into EventTypes based on what is displayed within the string.
These are the codes that I am using to achieve this, however nothing is being input into the EventType column.
Code: Private Sub Command11_Click() Dim dbs As DAO.Database Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Set dbs = CurrentDb Set rst = dbs.OpenRecordset("Final")
[Code] ....
I think the problem lies with the code that checks the agent name. When I removed it, it managed to populate the EventType column based on the details. But I still need to find out how to check the agent name too.
Hi. I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I would like to take data from multiple columns and put the data into one column. Additionally, I do not want to exclude any data (union all) and I would like to group the resulting union by another field. For example:
So far I'm using the following SQL. What do I need to add or change to get my desired result of grouping the unioned depths by the 'sample event' field?
I appreciate any help anyone may have to offer. Thank you.
SELECT Depth1 AS Depths FROM Depth_Velocity_Substrate_Correct Union all SELECT Depth2 FROM Depth_Velocity_Substrate_Correct Union all SELECT Depth3 FROM Depth_Velocity_Substrate_Correct Union all SELECT Depth4 FROM Depth_Velocity_Substrate_Correct Union all SELECT Depth5 FROM Depth_Velocity_Substrate_Correct
I have a Access 2003 file and I want to filter anywhere where there last name is "expired" and change the column first name to say "no". How do I do that?
I need a query that could split data into 2 different field. The table pic is attached for your ready reference. I tird with Left & Right funtions with no results.
Any one can help me please.
Table name is Agcad and field on which I need to split is Board_Size. The problem is Board_Size data is sometime in 3 digit (first half part) and sometime second half part is in 4 digit. It is a text data type field.
I have two separate columns in my query but they contain the same kind of data. These two columns data should match but some of the data doesn't. Can I write a criteria that will show me only the rows that do not match.
DUTYPOSC 11B111B1 11B111B1 11C111B1 11B111B1 92Y111B1 11B111B1 13F121B1 For example, I want the query to show me only the rows in which the data in the Duty column doesn't match the POSC column.
I have several fields that I fill in on a form and they all need to add up in the last field. The first way that I tried this worked good for the initial data entry on the form. However if I need to edit one of the fields in the form then it resets the TotalCost field and I have to enter all of the numbers again. Is there some way that I can make this work? Or is this an Access quirk I will have to live with?
I tried to do this two different ways.
Here is the code for the first method:
Option Compare Database Dim C1 As Long 'For Total Cost Dim C2 As Long 'For Total Cost Dim C3 As Long 'For Total Cost Dim C4 As Long 'For Total Cost
[Code] .....
This way works great the first time that I tried it, I had to re-enter info in all the fields if I wanted to change one.
Here is my second method:
Which didn't work, i received an error message:
"The expression After Update you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Invalid outside procedure."
And then nothing changes.
Code: Option Compare Database Dim C1 As Long 'For Total Cost Dim C2 As Long 'For Total Cost Dim C3 As Long 'For Total Cost Dim C4 As Long 'For Total Cost
I have a Question about validation rules. I have a table with a field where the values can either be 3 numbers (like 321,245) or 4numbers separated by . (like 321.4). Other employees update these fields so it is importatant that they can't put in text etc. In the field for validationrule I put the text (Select Distinct [fieldname] from table) but that did not work. Do anybody know an easy way to set the validation rule?
I am trying to validate a text field (named Customer_Surname) and i want to make it so that only letters can be entered into the field and no other numbers or symbols. Is there any way this vlaidation can be done and if so, how?
