Forms :: Data Not Updating When Open Form - Refresh Actions?
Jan 31, 2014
Test findings showed that when I open a form the data does not update. I added a refresh action after the openform action. If I want to open three forms via the macro, do I need three refresh actions, one after each openform action, or simply a single refresh action that would apply to all three forms.
Scenario 1:OpenForm1, Refresh, OpenForm2 Refresh, OpenForm3, Refresh
Scenario 2:OpenForm1, OpenForm2, OpenForm3, Refresh

Is there any possibilities to open form after INSERT INTO? I think Ms Access can't fast refresh data in the table after that, so form opens up clean:/
Code:
...
strSQL = "INSERT INTO tblZlecenia (id_zlecenia_info, DataPrzyjecia) VALUES ('" & ostateczne & "', Date())"
CurrentDb.Execute strSQL, dbFailOnError
DoCmd.OpenForm "Formularz2", WhereCondition:="ID_Zlecenia=" & ostateczne

how I can automatically change the Client settings either with a macro or code. Specifically for the three confirm actions (Record Changes, Document deletions and Action queries). I have a database that is distributed to end users in different offices around the world. The old way lazy way, was to go to each computer and set these settings to "off" manually, but this isn't possible. I want to be able to run delete queries and action queries in the back end without the end users knowing its happening and having to select yes all the time.

I have an open form "MattersFileFrm" that has total fields on it.
I have a transaction form open where the user is entering figures into a few fields. I then want to add those figure to the total fields on the other form.
This is the code I'm using without success
Forms![MattersFileFrm].[AmountPaid] = Forms![MattersFileFrm].[AmountPaid] + Me.AmountTotal
Forms![MattersFileFrm].[CommisionPaid] = Forms![MattersFileFrm].[CommisionPaid] + (Me.AmountTotal * 1.2)
Forms![MattersFileFrm].[AmountOwed] = Forms![MattersFileFrm].[AmountOwed] - Me.AmountTotal
My referencing to the other form fields is wrong .

Here is the scenario:
Form 1 - Data entry for a new project
Form 2 - Data entry for a task associated with the project in the Form 1
Button on form 1 that opens Form 2.
What I am trying to do:
Use a combobox on Form Two to choose the Project entered into Form 1, so I can capture the Form1 PK as a FK on Form 2.
Here is the problem:
Refreshing the record on the button click so that the new option entered into Form 1 shows up in the combo box on Form 2.
Full disclosure:
I'm not much good at VBA so I have been trying to do this by customizing the button macro. I have tried Refresh, and Requery, but I can't seem to get it to update the list in the combo box.
2 questions:
1. How can I get this accomplished?
2. Is there a better way to get this data into the table than what I am trying to do?

I have a graph on my form, an Update/Refresh button, and a textbox that display a calculted value.
The textboxes controlsource is "=GetMyValue()"
Now when I click the Update button on the form, I would like to have the graph to refresh first, and then the textbox should update its value by running the GetMyValue function. But it works the other way around.
I've even tried to reset and set the textbox controlsource in the click event but it still get's preference above the refresh of the graph.

I have a main form[frmResearchNotes] with combo box controls that filters a query populating [subfrmNotelist] containing several records from the filtered query. From there, I double click on a field within one of the remaining records, [CompanyName] for example, and it opens the new form[frmNoteDetail]. The problem is that second form is not displaying that selected record. The second form's record source has been set to the same query so when it loads, it displays the same info but it's displaying the 1st record out of the entire filtered list, not the record I clicked on in that list.
I figured I could use the strWhere function to copy the record I selected in the event procedure and then open the new form with those details. Not sure how to actually do this with VBA or if it's even the correct approach.

Suppose I need a database with customers, able to store: what different events, were performed on what date.
So let's say possible actions are: a customer called, emailed or visited.
(note, it might be possible that a customer both called, emailed and visited on the same day)
Should I start with four different tables for: customers, called, emailed, visited? Or would the three actions just go into one table?
Another aspect that I don't understand at all yet is how to proceed with the dates.
Should I create another table with a long list of possible dates for the coming x-years?
I would like it to work:
I am thinking about creating a form with buttons behind the terms 'called', 'emailed' and 'visited'. When one of those buttons is pressed, I want an entry for that action, day and customer entered in the database.
So that later on I could e.g. look up on what day how many customers called, etc. etc.

I have a number of charts that correspond to form fields. Once the fields are filled out and the form is saved I want the data automatically to update in the chart. I tried inserting a button to allow the user to manually do it, but it says that it is unavailable. The charts update when i click refresh, however I dont want the user to have to do this.

I have a form called frmStartTimeEntry where a user inputs data using a barcode scanner. In this form there is a field called Part_No where after a value is inserted, I'd like the form to check if table_lines_per_part includes this part. If not found, then I'd like the form to open another form called frmLinesPerPart where the form would pull the same Part_No inserted in the previous form to fill in the Part_No field (which is hidden) and then the user would type in a qty for the LinesPerOrder. A user would then click a button btnOk to append this new record to table_lines_per_part and be returned to the frmStartTimeEntry to continue filling out the rest of the form.
This is the idea I have but I don't know how to code the part where the form checks after update if the part_no exists in the other table, nor how to capture the part_no to the other form and then append both the part_no and the lines per part to the other table.

I just realized why I wanted to stop using Access long ago...anyway here's my problem.
I have two tables: table1 and table2 (I know, creative). Anyway, table1 is linked from another database, table2 is local to the open database. I use table2 as a temporary table to hold data from table1. table1 is then set as the datasource of one of my forms.
I have a button which is used to refresh the data. Basically, it deletes everything in the temp table (table2) and inserts data from the linked table (table1). When I do this, the rows in my form then all contain #Deleted, but it never refreshes with the new data after I have inserted it.
I've tried using the Refresh, Requery and even Repaint methods. Still no luck. Then, I clicked Remove Filter from the toolbar and the new data appeared, but I don't have any filters in place. So then I tried to do this programmatically by setting the subform (I'm using subforms ) Filter = "", its FilterOn to False and its OrderBy = "".
Any suggestions?
Cheers

I have a form and this form shows some values from one table. One of the fields named as Key. I want to open another form and show the record that has the same value as Key.
I am able to make this with filter but the form opens and when the user navigates the record, it creates a duplicate value in related table.
I want to open form and find specific data to display and then stop at this record.

I am currently creating a database in a hierarchical system that is to be used by multiple users to enter information specific to them. The tables are arranged like this:
Owners
Modules
Tasks
Highlights
Theses are connected using primary ID's and Particular Entries in the next table so they form a hierarchy - when you expand owners it brings up a list of Modules attached to that owner, then expand each module and it brings up a list of tasks associated with that module, expand the task and it brings up a list of highlights associated with that task. This is all very straightforward of course but what I would like to do is create forms that basically match so that the users can navigate from their name, through their modules and tasks and then add highlights to each task.
For this I have been using continuous forms to list all the different entries and inserting a button in each entry that I would like to link to the next form and find the specific data, however when I try to do this the button always without fail will just return all the entries from the form rather than the specific ones requested. I set up the button using the wizard and select 'open form and find specific data' and then select two entries that are identical on each form. I have trawled the internet quite a bit to try and find why this is happening and have inserted various bits of code etc into the embedded macro in an attempt to make it work but to no avail.
I wonder if there is something I need to activate on the form that the button connects to aswel or if I need to connect these forms using the relationship that I used to connect the tables (I am still using a unique identifier). If I connect to a single form it will display the first entry on the list (and I can cycle through them all) on a continuous form it will display all entries starting with the first.I would like it to display all entries for the selected record on the form.

I apologize if this has probably been asked countless times; however, in my search of this forum I could not find something that seemed to work for something so simple.
**************************************************
Scenerio:
I have 2 forms. The first form is my main form and the second form is my "popup" form. Both of these forms access the same table. In my main form I have it so people can not enter in a ID so it reduces accidental data entry. Therefore, I created a "popup" box that allows ID entry.
Everything works great except when I close out of the popup form, the newly entered data is not available unless I close the main form and reopen.
Million Dollar Question:
How do I refresh or requery (dunno the correct term usage here) the main form to reflect the addition I made in my popup form. I would like the refresh event to happen when I click the close button on my popup form.
**************************************************
Again, I know this is probably simple, but I cannot find it anywhere or most likely I am blind
Thank You

I have several comboboxes in my database from which users select values. However, in most cases, I do want to give them the option to add an item that does not appear while simultaneously updating the underlying table which stores those dropdown values. I have made use of the builtin "allow edit list items" feature of Access 2007 but the form always opens on the first record of the form on which they are to add the new item. Is there a way to specify that it should open in Data Entry view apart from using VBA?

I have combo box that lists data from another form (frmCity) . If the required data in not in the list then frmCity is opened, a new record is entered and form closed. The combo box in the first form (which has remained open) does not show the new entry unless it is closed and re-opened. How can I get the new record to show without closing and reopening?

I have forms that show commitments by Client, by Cost Centre, by Provider etc.
If I add new commitments or edit commitments it is done through the Commitments by Client form, as all other forms lead back to this one.
To create a new or edit an existing commitment, it is done through a Commitment Form, which goes into a query (query A)which does all the calculations. My client form has subforms based on Query A, however my other forms (commitments by Cost Centre etc) have subforms which have querys that are based on Query A . I hope that made sense.
My problem is that If I edit a commitment, the client form and subforms refrlect the changes imediately, even though they are open and I can see them changing when I change the commitments. However the other ones don't unless I close them and re-open them.
My navigation within the database is based on once a form has been opened it is set to be invisible untill called on again (i.e. visible = False).
How to requery all the forms without having to close them.

I have a form that has a check box on it. For some reason the check box is not being checked when an update query is run prior to load. I issued the 'Me.Requery' command after the update query is run (via 'On Load' and 'On Open' in the 'Event' property . . . neither worked) of the form. Is this the correct way to refresh a form after an update query is run ?

I have an Access 2010 database with a form that allows me to input data which is saved into two tables (i.e. Orders and OrderDetails). I use a simple select query to bind the form to the tables.
When the form loads it asks for an order number, which it uses to pull details from the Orders table and auto-fill some fields on the form (these fields are not enabled as they are predefined, such as the order date).
So, when the order number is entered my VBA code does a Form.Refresh, which then breaks the code with the Run-time error 3022 - "The changes you requested to the table were not successful yada yada.." (I'm sure you all know the one)...
I have checked that there are no duplicated keys in my tables, I have checked that what should be indexed, is indexed. I have done a compact and repair on the database, and even created a new database and imported all the tables (used new data). Still get the same issue.

I have a form that displays records from a table.
When opened it displays all records (no selection yet).
I put would like to put 2 buttons to filter records (Male/Female).
I'm thinking of 2 possible options:
1-on click run a script that will close current form, then reopen it with selection criteria
2-directly apply a filter on the current form that would automatically refresh itself with the right records
Another (heavy, inelegant?) solution would be to create duplicates of this form. they would be loaded from separate queries that select the right records in either choice.

I need refresh/requery/save patern form. I try this code:
Me.Parent.Form.SetFocus
