Forms :: Database User Name Displayed On Welcome Form
May 15, 2013
I have an Assess 2007 database with a user table. This table holds database user names and user passwords an entry permission to the database. I also have a welcome form that activates when user enters the database using either of the user names and user password in the user table. Now, I would like to display the database user name (NOT THE SYSTEM USER NAME] on the welcome form of the user that enters the database.
I need to know the procedure or event code for user login form at opening.
I am working on database which is almost done and i defined tables for users with passwords.
I need to know how i can assign Login Form to be appear on opening of database no other person than listed users should be able to enter or open database without password, to enforce this i made a login form.
i want to make it equal to my forms adjusted width but i don't know how to do that. Also i thought it would look like a form enwrapped within a rectangle or a square yet its gluded onto Access with no border
I saved my form with a particular name and I have used that name all throughout my code and it still works fine. But when I open that form, the name I see on the top of the form is not that name at all. It's actually some value I gave a combo box a while ago.
I have a series of forms that become current in a certain order. For example a menu form comes up. This is followed by a search form where the user gives search parameters. Then appears the results list. If the user wants a detail form comes after that, etc. Now when the user closes the last form I want the form before that one to show up and when he closes that one the one before that and so on. That is I am going to use the close button to go back to the previous step. How can I do this.
I have a spreadsheet that my company uses that has about 20 clients presented in a single sheet in Excel so I was wondering if it was possible to display only a selected range (i.e. only one client) in a specific form in Access to cleanse this up a bit.
I am looking for displaying the totals from a query onto a form.
I have a query which has a total line showing a count of the number of entry's in each column. I would like to be able to display these totals on one of my forms in text boxes (or any other way). Is this possible and if so how do I do it ?
I've created a button on my ACCESS 2010 form that will send a PDF via email. However I only need to send the single record displayed on the form not all records.
The on click command of the button sends the PDF of the report. (I read that this is what should be sent; but still get the same results.)
I don't understand how and where to attach VBA code:
I have a table that holds the SQL texts for ca. 1000 Select queries (mostly minor variants that are used to programmatically swap out RowSource strings for combo boxes). I'd like to have a quick and easy way to open/review/modify these queries.
One strategy would be to display the SQL strings in a field on a Datasheet form, then use an onClick event on a text box linked to the SQL-holding field (or perhaps an onClick event tied to an unbound text box on the form) to open the associated query. That would allow me to view the SQL of the query that I want to open, allow me to quickly scroll through the list of stored SQL texts, and give me options for sorting or limiting the SQL-texts displayed in the datasheet form.
But, I can't seem to get the onClick event to work. The problem seems to be that I can't figure out how to pass the SQL string contained in the field to a function that will use that string to open the query .
I wish to change the backcolor of a field on a current record being dispalyed in a 'multiple items' form. However when using me.A.backcolor = makes refrence to all fields called A on the 'multiple items' form and therefore all fields change colour not just the current record.
Is there a way of allowing user to reference/update from either databases ? If user enters an item code and it is not found in database A, can the program direct it to retrieve/update from/to database B ? Assuming database A and B are item databases with different contents.
I want to develop my database and forms to fit a 1600 x 900 resolution screen and would like to know, whilst I am in the Developer mode of Access 2007, is there a key that I can press that will switch to display the database/forms so that I can see what the User will see?
I have a call log database that is used to log calls (Obviously), i have several users over a network and everything works great, but i have been asked to create an alert function that notifies the user when a new call is logged assigned to them by a different user, similar to outlook when a new email is received.
I was planning on having a timer even which checks for new calls every few mins or so and opens up a form to display the new calls which have not been dealt with i thought it was gonna be simple but i have come across a few problems.
1. verifying if a new call has been logged 2. displaying only new calls 3. only displaying alert once per new call
I have attached the database but have had to remove all information from the tables for security reasons.
I have a fully functioning login screen with a combo box for name and a password box. It also has an option to create a new user or exit the database. On my main form I want the employees to have to log out of the database as opposed to close it out. How would I go about this? Also I need tracking login and logout times for each employee.
I have several data entry forms in my DB. What I would like to do is capture the windows user name of the people adding records and changing records. How do I go about doing that? I was think of an on change event to a given field that would then pull the username and insert it in another field/object.
Lets say the an on change of me.cmbModel update txtUserName.
I have made a very simple log on form that requires the user to type in a user name and password. The user name and passwords are stored in a table. New users are added to this table to allow access to the database.
Is there a way I can add a counter to see how many times a particular user has logged onto the database?
Is there a way to make the password expire every 365 days requiring the user to reactivate their account and log in details.
Hi, When the user clicks on the file name, I want the form to load automatically & also at the same time minimize the database window (i.e. the window where all the tables, queries etc are listed). Any suggestions?
I have a 2007 back-end db on a network share and around 15 regular users who access it through their own front-end db/interface. One user on Windows 7 is able to launch and use his front-end copy fine except when he goes to launch one form for data entry.
This form clocks and freezes the entire application. I sat with him and was able to determine that the issue is that the form_load code is never running. He clicks on the button to launch the form (done in vba) and the code never runs. If he opens the form in design view first then changes to form view, the code runs fine and there are no issues. This is his present work-around, but I had to give him an unlocked FE copy to pull it off (not ideal!).
I tried this with him on different PCs, with different front-end copies, and even in the back-end copy. Same result each time. None of the other users have this issue, and he can replicate this issue on different PCs. I'm at a loss for what might be causing this since it really seems so user-specific.
I have a multi user database in Access 2000 that is on a server. The individual users have shortcuts pointing towards the server instance. One user and one user only when opening the shortcut gets the error "you do not have exclusive rights to the database" .
All other users can enter the database with no error box. I have checked the advanced setting under options and they are correct. Ironically if you go to start and open access then navigate to the database shortcut. It opens with no error.
I have a database that has a main form, and from that main form there are buttons that open their respected forms. I am curious as to how I control the size of all of my forms. They are all pop-ups at the moment. It all works fine on my monitor, but when opened on a smaller monitor it is too big and I can't even see the bottom of the screen. The main form is set to open automatically after the user logs into the database and it opens to fit the screen. also, all of my forms are modals.
I have a combobox which lets you select from a list of pseudonyms. Each pseud belongs to an author; authors can have multiple pseudonyms and exactly one main pseudonym. This is the table structure (picture of relationships attached below):
The combobox list shows all the pseudonyms and then stores the corresponding AuthorID. At the moment, the pseudonym displayed in the combobox (once a selection has been made) is simply the first alphabetically for that particular author: for instance, if a story has AuthorID = 5, and Author 5 goes by anon, anonymous, and unknown, the combobox for that story will display "anon".
How can I make the main pseudonym (tblAuthor.MainPseudID = tblPseud.PseudID) be displayed instead?
Control source is tblStory.AuthorID
Row source:
Code: SELECT tblPseud.AuthorID, tblPseud.Pseud, tblAuthor.MainPseudID FROM (tblAuthor LEFT JOIN tblPseud ON tblAuthor.AuthorID = tblPseud.AuthorID) LEFT JOIN tblStory ON tblAuthor.AuthorID = tblStory.AuthorID ORDER BY tblPseud.Pseud;
The user will be creating a new project that contains a bunch of releases. The releases have standard names which are stored in a table tbl_ReleaseNames It should be noted that the list of names is not static.
The user selects which of the releases pertains to their project and then based on their selections, new records would be created in tbl_RFP_Release and then a subsequent form would open where it would display each of these newly created releases where they could enter additional information. I thought of creating an unbound checkbox associated with each of the standard names, and then checking to see if the checkbox was checked and then creating the new records followed by opening up the new form.
I'm new to Access VBA and I am having a bit of trouble. I want to find the dates between 2 dates(both inputted into textboxes), when I press a button I want them dates found to be displayed in a listbox.
I have a pivot chart that has site locations, and hours on the bottom, and then count of records with each site. Which is how many people used this site during this time for each bar. My problem is when I generate my pivot chart, every single time I have to fix the scale on the right hand side because it has decimal points in it. They only appear when I add dates/times to it.I want to give this to my boss that has access runtime, so all he has to do is click the button to get the chart and then print or send it off. How do I get rid of those decimal points when the report is generated?
I have a working combo box on a form that displays issue numbers for part number typed into a text box. This all works fine when the list of issue numbers is below the displayed list (16), but when the list is longer than 16 you cannot seem to select anything after item 16.
When the combo box has, say 25 items a scroll bar appears allowing the user to scroll down to item 25, but when you click the mouse the list just reverts back to the first 16 items? The only way to select an item after 16 is to select item 16 which then closes the combo box, then when you reopen it the list now shows items 17 to 25 which you can then select item 25.
This is the same in reverse, when you have item 25 selected, you cannot select item 1. When you click the mouse the list reverts back to items 17 - 25.The combo box is populated in code using the lost focus event on the text box for the part number.
