Forms :: Determine Which Form Is Displayed After Current Form Is Closed
May 1, 2014
I have a series of forms that become current in a certain order. For example a menu form comes up. This is followed by a search form where the user gives search parameters. Then appears the results list. If the user wants a detail form comes after that, etc. Now when the user closes the last form I want the form before that one to show up and when he closes that one the one before that and so on. That is I am going to use the close button to go back to the previous step. How can I do this.

I am running Access 2010. I am building a form that is finding the "Docket Numbers" from three different forms. In order to get these numbers, I put in three text boxes with these statements:
Text box1
=[Forms]![Jobslist]![Docketnumber]
Text box2
=[Forms]![Jobslist2]![Docketnumber]
Text box3
=[Forms]![Jobslist3]![Docketnumber]
However, not all three forms will necessarily be open at one time so I am trying to use an Iif statement to check if the form is open. I can't seem to figure out the function to check if the form is open. I am looking for something along these lines:
Text box1
=iif([Forms]![Jobslist] = closed,"",[Forms]![Jobslist]![Docketnumber]
What i need to figure out is what to used instead of "= closed".

I wish to change the backcolor of a field on a current record being dispalyed in a 'multiple items' form. However when using me.A.backcolor = makes refrence to all fields called A on the 'multiple items' form and therefore all fields change colour not just the current record.

I am having trouble getting the ID of the current record displayed on a form. The code I have written is this:
Code:
Dim ProjID As Long
ProjID = Forms![ProjectDetailsAll].CurrentRecord
The problem is that this code returns the record number relative to other records (so, this record is number 2634 of 2634). However, I am trying to get the ID of the record, which is an autonumber and is not the same as the record's order amongst other records. There have been record deletions ahead of this record, so the ID might be 3096 even though CurrentRecord tells me that this record is number 2634. Is there another way of writing this to get what I need?

I saved my form with a particular name and I have used that name all throughout my code and it still works fine. But when I open that form, the name I see on the top of the form is not that name at all. It's actually some value I gave a combo box a while ago.

I have an Assess 2007 database with a user table. This table holds database user names and user passwords an entry permission to the database. I also have a welcome form that activates when user enters the database using either of the user names and user password in the user table. What I really need is for when the form opens, it looks at todays date, then matches current user and then goes to that record for today, if no current user there, then will goto new record..
i know, sounds complicated, and probably is really easy, but my heads not with it today, as about to get drunk as its my 40th, and got people ringing and texting and still trying to get this done....
I've included a copy of this database, named Timecards..

I have a spreadsheet that my company uses that has about 20 clients presented in a single sheet in Excel so I was wondering if it was possible to display only a selected range (i.e. only one client) in a specific form in Access to cleanse this up a bit.

I've created a button on my ACCESS 2010 form that will send a PDF via email. However I only need to send the single record displayed on the form not all records.
The on click command of the button sends the PDF of the report. (I read that this is what should be sent; but still get the same results.)
I don't understand how and where to attach VBA code:
Me.Filter = "RequestsID=" & Forms![OD Reversal Requests]![RequestsID]
Me.FilterOn = True

I have a query that retrieves one of its criteria from a form. I have referenced correctly the value on the form from the query, and it works, but what I wanted to do is a bit more complicated: when the form is closed, I want to launch the query with a "default value". I tried to do it in 2 different ways:
a) Defining an "IIf" at the query criteria: I would need a function that checks if the form from which I retrieve the values is open.
b) Defining public variables with a default value, which would be changed from the form: I don't know where/when to initialize the value of the variable.
Query gets criteria from form when it's open. If form is closed, query uses default value.

What I would like to do is create a list box that will only display the information from another form that is related to the current form.So I have a form call Equipment Catalog and that form is related to Equipment features 1 to M relationship and the Equipment Features is related to a Features form M to 1.
So what I want to do is display all the related equipment features in a listbox that is related to the current PK of that form.So if there is only one feature on one form the list box will only display that one item however is there is 6 features on another it will display all 6.I have been trying SQL and Queries but I still can't get it to work.

I am using Access 2010 - Version 14.0.61.29.5000 (32-bit)
I am building a custom Export Wizard to export data to Excel using the Report Wizard for the basic ideas.
All I am trying to do is have a [Back] button on a form to open another form and close the current form.
Private Sub cmdBack_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_ExportWizardPage2", , , , , , Nz(Me.OpenArgs)
DoCmd.Close acForm, "frm_ExportWizardPage3"
End Sub
The new form is opening but then the current form is not closing. All forms are the same size, shape and positioned centrally although this should not make any difference.
Could this be anything to do with which form has the focus when I open the new form?

I have a table that holds the SQL texts for ca. 1000 Select queries (mostly minor variants that are used to programmatically swap out RowSource strings for combo boxes). I'd like to have a quick and easy way to open/review/modify these queries.
One strategy would be to display the SQL strings in a field on a Datasheet form, then use an onClick event on a text box linked to the SQL-holding field (or perhaps an onClick event tied to an unbound text box on the form) to open the associated query. That would allow me to view the SQL of the query that I want to open, allow me to quickly scroll through the list of stored SQL texts, and give me options for sorting or limiting the SQL-texts displayed in the datasheet form.
But, I can't seem to get the onClick event to work. The problem seems to be that I can't figure out how to pass the SQL string contained in the field to a function that will use that string to open the query .

When I have a form called "SiteForm" open and click a button "NewCalloutButton" I would like it to open up a form called "CalloutFormEntry"
I've done this using
Private Sub cmdOpenDetail_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "CalloutFormEntry", , , "CalloutID = " & Me!CalloutID
End Sub
However this brings up all the records linked to the calloutID
What I'm after is to open the CalloutFormEntry from the SiteForm in a dataentry kind of format but to carry over the current SiteID based on which site is open on the SiteForm. That way there's no user error logging callouts to incorrect sites.

Hi all,
I am stumped as to how to get a form to update/refresh. Heres what I have!
My main form:[Daily Log From] is opened, with a subform:[DailyDSQry subform] populated by a Query. This form has a command button that opens another form: [NewDSLog] in "acAdd","acDialog".
What I need is: when the [NewDSLog] form closes, the [DailyDSQry Subform] needs to requery/update so that it displays the new entry.
I have tried the following in a command "CLOSE" button in form [NewDSLog]:
docmd.Runcommand AcCmdRecordSave
Me!Forms![Daily Log]![DailyDSQry subform].Refesh
Me!Forms![DailyDSQry subform].[Query].!Requery
doCmd.close
but no LUCK.....Keep getting errors
Any Ideas
Thanks all, I do appreciate the help

I have a form which is associated with a table. When I put some values in the fields which are connected to the database and try to close the form, it gives me an error that "Can't insert record the primary key might be duplicated"...! and then it closes.
Does the form store a record in the table while closing??
If so is there a way to prevent it??
Please reply..

The database window opens and THEN the Switchboard opens (on top of the database window). There are some who I wish not to see the database navigation window). Also, is it possible to OPEN the switchboard again when a Form is closed?

First, I am a beginner with Access. I am a graphics designer that has been assigned to cover for a db programmer that quit!
Here is my problem:
I have a database that we use to hold customer information. There are 22 fields in each record, and we are now well over 3000 records.
Once upon a time, to find a specific customer, we would just go to the bottom of the page, and use the arrow buttons to scroll through them all. This is no longer possible as the size is too big to manually search.
What I would like to do:
Upon Access startup, display a form that has a single input field and a button titled "Search". The input field is titled [UserName], as this field is the unique key identifier for the record. When the user types in the UserName and clicks the SEARCH command button, another form appears to display JUST THAT RECORD in the easy to read form!
If this is really basic, I appologize. I have 20 years experience with commercial illustration and only 7 days experience with Access. I have purchased books, and hit the forums, but I am not a VB programmer, and my skills this area are REAL weak!
My resourse books include the following:
Wiley - Access 2003 Bible [Prague, Irwin & Reardon]
Osbourne - How to do Everything with Access 2002 [Anderson]
O'Reilly - Access Cookbook [Getz, Litwin & Baron]
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi all.
I have a form that opens up another form when you click on a button. The button does more than just open the form, it does other checks. I want to wait until the opened form is closed to continue with the subroutine. Is this even possible in VBA? I was wondering if there was a frmFormName.IsOpen or some kind of flag that would tell me if a form is open or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sub open
Checks things
Checks things
checks things
Opens form(frmDetails)
Wait for form to close (THING I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO IF POSSIBLE)
Checks things
Checks things
end sub
