Forms :: Number Of Buttons Which Open Other Forms And Filter Results Using Embedded Macro
Apr 6, 2015I have a bit of a problem with a database in Access 2013. On 1 of the forms, I have a number of buttons which open other forms and filter the results using an embedded macro. All has been well until a few days ago when error 2950 pop up box started appearing. After fiddling around for a while it all works OK (without actually changing anything) until next time the database is opened. I checked to make sure the location is "trusted" and all seems OK.

Apr 13, 2013I have an access form with tab control pages each with embedded forms.In one page I have a list of records as a datasheet form with the record identifier field configured as a hyperlink. When I click on this it passes its value to a form field in the form in the following tab page (works without the hyperlink but its a useful way of highlighting which field to click) which is a display/edit form of the details of the individual record. The Subroutine which does this sets the focus on this field it is passing the value to on the other form and the 'On Got Focus' event in that triggers the query that fills the editor form.
When I click back on the following tab to select another record to view/edit, the identifier value of the other record is passed to the other form but the data displayed in the rest form doesn't change. I understand this is because the field with the 'On Got Focus' never lost focus and so the query function was not called. To correct this I tried adding the same function call to the 'On Change' event however this does not work (the field is a text box set to 'locked' if that is relevant).I can get the form to do a new query properly if I click on a different field in the form before going back to the list tab or (as this is removing the focus allowing the On Got Focus to work again) if I click on a button to select a different record (which just takes me back to the list form).
Is there any way I can get this to work without having to manually remove the focus from the problem field? I have tried setting its On Got Focus event to move the focus to another field after the query function call however this prevents the Setfocus line in the code in the previous form from working. Here is a snippet of my code below.This code is for the list form and passes a value to the editing form:

Forms :: Embedded Value Into Table
Mar 31, 2013I have a form with a calculated time difference between a "Start" and "Stop" time I have managed to get the correct formula however I would like to display this value in a more civilized forma as HH:MM on the example attached I have some values that appear as 4:8 and it should be 04:08.
The second problem is I need to embed this calculated value on my tblTime as doing so I can run more easily some queries.

Forms :: Embedded Macro - If True Go To Control
May 21, 2013I'm trying to create a simple embedded macro for a checkbox control on a form [Company?]. The default value for this checkbox is No.
I want to write an If statement that basically says "If[Company?] = Yes, then GotoControl[CompanyorNameCombo], Else GotoControl[CustomerFN]
Although the checkbox field label and the control itself IS named [Company?] in the table and set as a Yes/No field, when I try to write the If statement I get an error that says "Microsoft Access cannot find the name 'Company?' you entered in the expression"
That's the name of the control and it is included in the table and shows in the field list.
Forms :: New Buttons Are All Suddenly Embedded Macros?
Feb 3, 2015I've been developing a new db and have been adding buttons to forms all along without any issue.
I would create a button and under the event tab in the properties sheet all the buttons used to indicate "On Click" would produce an [Event Procedure]. Suddenly the "On Click" now indicates an [Embedded Macro] is going to run, which is not what I really want to have happen......
Linking An Embedded Image From A Form To All Reports And Other Forms
Mar 4, 2005I thought this would be pretty simple, but I cannot figure out how and wasn't able find the solution here or anyway.
I have a source form. (I can resort to having a Table with OLE Object if I must, but prefer not to.) On this source form I wish to include different things such as company logo. This will determine what logo shows up in all the reports, so all the reports will have an image linking back to this embedded image on the source form.
Pseudo-code Example:
frmSource contains imgLogo
rptSample contains an image whose
control source = Forms!frmSource!imgLogo
How can I do this or achieve the same effect in a more-or-less simple way?

Forms :: Embedded Chart OLE Not Plotting Data Correctly
Aug 8, 2013I am using Access 2007 with Windows XP. I have a scatter chart embedded in a form that is plotting data from a subform with a trendline that is extracted and used on the form for calculations. After having the table set up correctly and running fine, I closed the database and then reopened it to have the table plotting the data in a made up 1 to 1 relationship rather than what is in the datasheet. The only way I have been able to fix this error is to change the chart type to something else then back to a scatter plot and remake the trendline. Why this is happening and how to prevent it?

Dec 13, 2013I have chart (grpMaster) that is embedded in a form (frmMain), the chart is a line graph based on a query (qryDataFilter) with 4 data series.
What I want to do is have various checkboxes (chk1 to chk4) that if selected show the series and if no don't - It seems straight forward!
I've tried SeriesCollection() but this comes up with errors. (Object doesn't support this property or Method).
The easiest way i can think of is just to hide / show the series line on the chart, but can't figure this out?

Aug 15, 2013In a form I have a button which creates (in preview) an outlook message with a pdf report. It opens and displays just as I want it to, but if I chose to save that message in outlook and either send or cancel (i.e. allowing user to save to drafts and send later) then MS Access crashes.To ensure this wasn't to do with any compile / corruption within my full application I mirrored the process in a very simple 1 table / 1 form / 1 report db and still the same - access crashes after saving the outlook message and either sending the message or cancelling out the message.

Passing Variables Between Forms In Shared Mode
Sep 28, 2006Before I go any further w/this current application, I want to make sure this will work.
I have an access database w/a few forms that will sit on a shared drive on a network. Each user will also have their own username and password because each user will have a certain level of access to what they are allowed to see. The problem I am facing is that if I put the users ID into the global variables module, and two users log on at the same time, then access seems to somehow use both of the IDs when running queries. This makes sense that all uses can see it, since it's Global... but I need a way for simultaneous users to have a persistant unique id so I can query data that's only meant for them. I found this example of code that might remedy the situation by passing variables between the forms.
Call the code below in frmOne to pass the variable.

Forms :: Cascading Combo Box On A Shared Subform
May 30, 2013I have a subform that I use on two parent forms. The subform has a cascading combo box. The LocationID field gets filtered after CompanyID (named: cboCompanies) is updated. The problem is that I can only get the combo box to work on one form (Contacts_All). When I open the second form (Contacts_Clients), it asks for the Parameter Value.I am entering this into the criteria for the LocationID field:
[Forms]![Contacts_All]![SUBFRMContactsCompanies]![cboCompanies] Or [Forms]![Contacts_Clients]![SUBFRMContactsCompanies]![cboCompanies]
So, the "Or" is not working.Do I need to make a separate subform for each parent form or is there some way to get this working? I already feel as if I am managing way too many forms and need to simplify.

How would I recode this requery when it shared between 2 forms. frmMainformnoproc is the name of one of the main forms.The code above was present after an update was completed in the subform. Maybe I should be doing it after I close the subform and refresh the mainform. Based on that line of thinking I tried to add the code in the Activate event / Got Focus event of the mainform but the form did not get refreshed.
Forms :: Split Database In A Shared Folder
Nov 9, 2014I have recently been experimenting with adding an Access database to a shared folder (in a network HomeGroup) and have it working on two networked PCs. Then tried the same with the database split but I get a path error on the PC joined to the HomeGroup (where the database resides) whenever the backend (tables) are accessed by a form or from the Tables listing. If I however open the backend file directly from the file directory, the tables all open as expected.
The path stated as being invalid in the error message starts with "C:Usersetc..... instead of LAF-PCUsersetc..... so it looks (to me at least) that it is attempting to load the file from the local hard drive rather than the host computer.
Why a split database works differently in this situation than a non-split.

Mar 29, 2013I understand that their are several ways to work with pictures and comboboxes. Working with an OLE Picture is not prefered. But I only need to add 5 little signatures. Previous attempts, like trying to connect with my SharePoint site and our server didn't work. So I have only one option left which is to work with an OLE object. Because the pictures (signatures) are just arround 15kb, I think it will not influence my database a lot.
Because I only have about 2 weeks experience working with Access, I can't enable to show the signature (Picture in jpg or bmp) when a person is selected in a combobox. I compared the code with several other posts but all do it very differently. Signature is an OLE field. In this field for each inspector I paste his Signature.
In the form I'm trying to show his Signature via a combobox. But I can't find out how I have to make the connection between the Picture field and the table were the picture is stored. And this in combination with a combobox. Here is my code were I'm struggling with:

May 19, 2014The form is specifically made to be wider than the screen, so that there is a scroll bar at the bottom. I have an embedded picture for the background which is intended to be the size of the form, meaning that the picture is also wide.
In Design view, I can see that the background picture fits the form perfectly, which is what I want to see in Form View.
In Form view, though, the picture is squished to fit the screen. The only time it doesn't do that is if I set the Picture Size Mode to Clip, but then it only shows a portion of it, and when I scroll horizontally, the background picture doesn't scroll with it.

Jul 25, 2014I have looked all over for a way to calculate the difference between water meeter readings. My brain may be Friday slow, but all I can find is for calculating differences in dates. My water table has 3 fields: ReadDate, Reading, Calc1
ReadDate is the date the water reading occurred
Reading is the meter reading
Calc1 is calculated (when I find out how!) by subtracting the current reading from the previous day's reading.
I would like to add the write script in my form so when the readings are entered, the calculation auto populates the field for the user.
