Forms :: Disabling Command Button If Record / Records Not Saved?
Dec 19, 2013Is there a way to disable my print report button if the user has not hit the save button ???? and maybe display a msg box?

Disabling Command Button
Apr 14, 2005Im new to this, and a beginner at database design, but I am currently stuck on disabling a command button.
Basically what happens is the form is loaded and there are two buttons (save and undo) both disabled:
Private Sub Form_Current()

Me!cmdCancelAddNewAd.Enabled = False

once a text box has been filled in the next occurance happens:
Private Sub Form_Dirty(Cancel As Integer)

which enables both buttons. but the problem is when a user clicks the undo button i want both buttons to be disabled again, i cannot get the undo button disabled, the save button was easy enough:

but if i put (Me!cmdCancelAddNewAd.Enabled = false) i get an error message saying 'you cannot disable a control that is in focus'.
Disabling A Command Button
Sep 4, 2004I'm designing a database to do invoices.
Items_sub is a continuous form.
For an item being returned I've made a command button that brings up a "return" form which is related to the Items form with a one-one relationship, (so the two primary keys are linked). Obviously an item can only be returned once, (logically and because of duplicate primary keys), so i'd like to disable the command button once it's been clicked. At the moment i have:
Private Sub cmdReturn_Click()
Me.cmdReturn.Enabled = False
End Sub
This doesn't work because it disables the button for all the records (It's in a continuous form).

Forms :: Command Button To Save Changes On The Record
Sep 30, 2014I have a form named CORRES_TYP with 3 text boxes and a list box. I also have a separate table with 3 field from where the information I put in the form was saved.
In my form whenever I put information on the textbox at hit add record button, these information are saved in my table and will reflect on the listbox on my form below the textboxes. Also if I select a record in the Listbox the record I selected will apprear on the corresponding textbox in the same form.
My problem is that I have been trying to create a command button that will save and change the existing record everytime I select an item in the list box and modify the information through the textbox. Here are some infromation about my table and form:
Table name = CORRES_TYP
Field 1 = CODE (Primary key, No Duplicates)
Field 2 = DESCRIPTION
Field 3 = FOLDER
Form name = CORRES_TYP
Textbox 1 = CODE
Textbox 2 = DESCRIPTION
Textbox 3 = FOLDER
Listbox name = LIST14

Jan 15, 2014I have created Command buttons on forms with VBA code. Records GoTo previous and GoTo Next Record so both of working is good. But Next Record command is force to a new record. If suppose when we clicking on last record. It is go to new record without any message. So No need to force a new record with Next Record Command. Only just move to next record if there is no records show a message. Below mentioned both VBA codes so there is any changes on GoTo Next Record Code?

Forms :: Command Button To Add New Record In Subform
Nov 5, 2013I am designing a database to manage hospital patient data. I will have to enter info at various points, e.g. when a patient is referred, admitted, discharged...
So for example, I have a main form with the patient's name and two subforms, one with the referral details (e.g. date, name of referrer...), and one with the admission details (e.g. date, diagnosis). They are linked through Parent-child links to the main form by PatientID. So, when I enter a new PatientID in the main form, the ID in the subforms is automatically added/synchronized.
However, I would like it not to be...since not all patients that are referred are then admitted. Therefore I would like to have a command button in the main Form that allows me to control when a new patient record is added to the admission subform. In other words, I would like an "Add a new Record in the admissions subform" button, which then creates a new record, with matching PatientID in the admissions subform (and in the related table). Is this possible???
I have tried using the command button wizard but it either requires a record to be already present in the subform, or it takes me to the first record of the form, and not the matching PatientID one.
Forms :: Copy Record Button - Command Or Action Isn't Available?
Jan 13, 2014I've rebooted my copy record button and just used the macro wizard for now, it seems to work as far as I can tell but there is something strange about it.
I've added in some text boxes so I've got some confirmation, but when I click this copy button I get the following error;
"The command or action 'RecordsGoToNew' isn't available now."

Sep 17, 2013I have a form which displays some product details and a stock level. The subform below it allows entry of a quantity to issue and a control button to run a small macro, write a movement record to a stock movement table and then close the form. This works fine.
But the user can also cause the movement record to be written just by keying in a quantity and tabbing out. If this is done several times it writes several movement records and doesn't close the form. I want to ensure that record is only written when the command button is pressed.
Perhaps there is a more conventional or better way of achieving what I want but I can't think of it.

Jul 7, 2014Is it possible to use a command button (update) to update matching records in a form (Test)? I have a file (april.xlsx) in which the first column Cytogenetics ID (14-xxxx) is a unique identifier that matches a record in the database. The next column Result (NL-F, NL-M, F-VUS, M-VUS, A-M, A-F) and the date column next to it are what need to be updated in that record. In the database there is a field called Result that needs to be updated with
the text from column 2:
NL-F and NL-M = Normal
VUS-F and VUS-M = Variant of Unknown Sig.
A-M and A-F = Abnormal
There is also a Final TAT Date field in the database that needs to be updated with column 3 in the spreadsheet (Final TAT Date).So basically when there is a match with column 1 in april.txt to a record in the database, the Result field in the database is updated with column 2 of april.txt and the Final TAT Date field in the database is updated with column 3 of april.txt.

I know how to create a command button that will delete the current record of which ever form I'm in (either the sub or main form) but I wish to do so both at the same time with one event procedure. I currently have been experimenting with a button in the subform but I don't really care if it's in the subform or main form.

Apr 18, 2013I need to open a specific pdf file per record by using a command button. The pdf files will all reside in a specific folder in a partition on my hard drive. Each pdf file will have a unique four digit file name e.g 1234.pdf.The file name will match a unique number allocated to each record. This number is generated by adding 1000 to the record ID.Record 10 will therefore have an associated pdf file name of 1010.pdf.I have created a text box field , named 'TestReportID', to capture the unique four digit number per record that I assume is needed to be referred to when setting up the code to find and display the correct related pdf file.
I have set up a command button on the records form and as simple test using the hyperlink address to the folder where the pdf files reside, I can open a pdf file by clicking on the command button but it does not matter what record is open when I click the command button, it will always open the same pdf file.If I don't identify a specific file name in the hyperlink address, when I click on the button it will display a file open dialog which lists all the relevant pdf files and I can then select and open the required file.I would like to cut out that step and get the correct file to open when I click the button.
Forms :: Command Button - Form Opens To New Record But Not Specific One
Jul 2, 2013I have a form that opens from a different form based on the primary key within the original form. Unfortunately it seems to be opening a new record every time I open the form--not only from the original form but also straight from the sidebar.
The command button that opens the second form from the first uses the following VBA:
DoCmd.OpenForm "ZooMobile Incomplete Booking-Return Client", , , "[Event_ID] = " & Me.EventID
This exact coding worded perfectly in a similar set of forms that I had created; the only difference is a change in the form name & primary key field.
Add onto this, I think that the code DOES work, but then it immediately opens another new record. When I open the second form from the command button, then change to Design View, the form's Filter property is set to [Event_ID]=X (where X is the proper key from the first form) and Filter On Load is set to Yes. The X in the Filter changes accordingly when it changes in the first form. Also, every time I open the form a new record is added to the underlying table.
I've tried setting "Allow Additions" in the second form to No, but then when I open the form nothing appears. Literally; the entire form is blank, no labels, textboxes, combos, buttons or anything. When going to Design View it's still all there.
I've also checked the On_Load, On_Current & Form_Current events and found nothing. I even deleted them and the problem still occurred.
Blank Record Saved When Click On Previous Button

I have a form with my own navigation buttons. The problem is a AddNew button is clicked for a new record, but it automatically adds into the relevant table when I click on the MovePrevious and MoveFirst button without data entry.
Has anyone encountered such problem? Kindly help me.

Apr 8, 2013I have a tabbed form in a navigation form with a chart on it. The records source of the chart is a query. The query runs when you click the tab and takes a long time. I changed the Row Source of chart to "" and that eliminates the query running on form load. I've read many posts on changing that row source when a command button is clicked. I tried

in the onclick event of the command button. This doesn't work. I've tried many variations of the syntax. I don't know if I have to tell the query to run after the row source is changed.
On a side note, the query criteria is based on beginning and end dates entered into text boxes on the form. This all works if the query loads when the form is opened.

At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.

Records In Different Forms Cannot Be Saved And Updated
Aug 24, 2014I have 2 Linked forms :
frmINVOICE
frmINSURANCE
Several of the fields in frmINVOICE are supposed to be repeated in frmINSURANCE, example Field name such as [Invoice No], [Invoice Date], [Description] etc. are identical in both forms.
My problem : After update of the fields frmINVOICE, the linked record will not update in frmINSURANCE.
I have manipulated by adding the below controls/commands to the field event and/or current form of both forms but nothing works :
- DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, 5, , acMenuVer70
- Refresh macro
- Requery
- Me.Dirty = False
Nonetheless, I noticed following outcomes :
1) if I tap between the forms twice, the field record from frmINVOICE will be updated automatically in frmINSURANCE
2) when I close and open frmINSURANCE, no change occurs
3) after I manually save frmINVOICE, then the field record from frmINVOICE will be updated in frmINSURANCE
What should I do now ?
Forms :: Command Button To Unlock And Lock Fields / Edit Button?
Feb 19, 2014I have created a web-database (? - There are globes over all the forms and tables icons) based on the Issues & Tasks template. This means that most of the data is entered and seen on the "Main" form, which has two tabs - Open Issues and Closed Issues. I have created a form that allows people at my work to input the necessary data and save it, so that it will show up on one of the two tabs. However, once a record has been created, I want to be initially locked if the ID/PK is clicked, so that data can't be changed or entered inadvertently.
SO, I changed the code so that when the ID/PK for a record is clicked, it brings up a different form, but one that looks exactly like the one that is brought up when entering a new form, but I locked all of the fields so that the information cannot be changed. It seems from what I have read that I can create a button on this form so that when clicked, it unlocks the fields on the form so that they can be changed, and then when clicked again it will lock the fields again. Is this true? If so, how can I do it? Or is there something similar I can do? I have seen codes that I could copy and paste, but I cannot figure out the place to copy and paste codes in Access 2010.
I have changed the Form properties so that Data Entry and all the "Allows" are set to No...

after google searching this subject i found the LastModified Syntax but i just don't understand whether i use it in VB or marco, or even how to implicate this. Should I make macro on each txtbox or should i create module? if i have to create either macro or module.

Forms :: Force Update Of Field Before Record Is Saved
Aug 1, 2013How can I force a field in a form to be updated before the record is saved / changed?
For instance I have a form with information on it and I want to ensure that any time the form is updated the user fills in a section providing the date and by who it has been updated by. I dont want the record to save unless that information has been filled out, and I also want it to take you to the field if you press save and it hasnt been filled out along with an error message.
To try and be a bit clearer. At current I have a Save and New button. This saves the form if dirty and opens a new record.
I want to add in the step that if record has been changed and FieldA has not just been updated then go to fieldA (Showing a message box). If FieldA has just been updated then save record and open new as normal.
My current save & new button properties are as follows (in Macro Editor)
