Forms :: Displaying Result Of A Calculation In A Form

I am creating a driving school database and have four different tables. Student, Instructor, Lesson and Lesson Type.
In the footer of my subform which works out what lesson type the student has taken and from which instructor, I have created a calculation to multiply the number of hours a student does to what type of lesson they take.
=([LengthOfLesson]*[cost]) (This works ok)
I then want to add all of these options together. I have tried:
=sum([OverallTotal]) in the footer (This doesn't seem to work)
and then
=[Booking].[Form]![OverallTotal] to show it in the form
The name of the subform is correct (booking) and name OverallTotal is also correct but I keep getting #error message.

Have a query which looks up an address using the text input into a textbox by the user.
What I'm now struggling with is getting the query result into the textbox.
Am still new to access and am hoping this is something fairly simple.

Hi all.
I have a TableA with 3 fields: FieldA, FieldB, Result. A Form1 based on these fields. User will put data in FieldA, FieldB and calculate in Result. Problem is how to keep result of calculation in TableA?

Hi all,
First timer here, so please forgive any daftness on my part. I'm a novice to access setting up my first database. This forun has been brilliant and helped me a great deal. However despite lots of searching I've not been able to sort out this problem.
I have a Form (New Client Details) with a primary key (ClientID), bound to a table (Client Details) and a Subform (Episode of Care Subform1) with a primary key (EpisodeofCareID) bound to another table (Episode of Care). They have a Master/Child link e.g. a client can have multiple episodes of care.
Using a search method I found on this forum I have created a search form (Client Search) which searches on First Name, Surname and Date of Birth. The search is operated by a command button (CmdSearch) with results shown in a Listbox (SelectSearchClientInfo). So the list could contain a number of entries for the same client if they have had multiple episodes of care.This works fine, however I also wanted to be able to select from the list and display all details for that selected record on the 'New Client Details' Form. I've used code found on this site but when I run it the form opens but will only display the first record for that particuler client. This is the code I've tried.
Can anyone help me out and show me whay I'm doing wrong?

I have an issue I do not know how to tackel. I have a select query that selects from three tables to calculate the commission for each transaction. The query is working just fine.
My problem is that I need an additional function ... What if I need to charge a special commission for that specific trade ?
I need to ammend the commission based on a figure I input in a text box from the form view.
Example:
- Commission (calculated by the query) is 100.00
- Special Commission (which is a text box on the form) is 80.00
Then Commission field = 80.00
PLEASE HELP .. Please let me know if you have any other suggestion in tackling this problem. Thanks

Here's what I have so far...and it works fine; however, some results have decimal places; i.e., 2.1666666.
I just need the result to be the whole number. I can't seem to get it to come out that way...I've used "round"...but I must not be putting it in the right part of the formula.
TEST: IIf(Year([EndTerm])>Year(Date()),0,IIf((Year(Date())-Year([EndTerm]))/[Renew]<1,1,(Year(Date())-Year([EndTerm]))/[Renew]))

I have a formula box in my form (textbox) called InventLeft that would calculate product in my inventory. I'd like to make this box flash if the result in it is Less than 2..This way it would catch attention to my user to order more product..Is this possible? Thanks in advance..

I have a very simple table with a field that will have only the values open or closed
I created a query based on this table and used the count function (to count open or closed cases) and in the next querie field I used the group by open.
This gives me a count of all open cases
I can do the same for closed cases.
I want this count to be displayed on a Switchboard form but i cant get my nehad round how to get it there.
Can anyone help me out ?

Hi there,
I've read through the forums on saving the results of a calculation into a field is a bad idea. I somewhat understand the reasoning for it. But I don't think such situations arise for everyone.
But I have gone with the suggestion and created an updatequery, which simply goes through and updates the calculated value into a table. Now each time the updatequery is run its asking for permission as to the fact if I'm sure I want it to be run. How do I turn this option off. And should I call this updatequery afterupdate or beforeupdate?

I am sure that in earlier versions it was easy to write the result of a calculated field on a form, back to a table, but I can't find the method in the help file for the current version of Access.

I am maintaining an Access 2003 application that is running on Windows 7 64Bit Enterprise OS setup.
I have a form in the application that displays a number of records with each record having a unique id and a field called ClockHrs which is stored as a Number (Long Integer) type.
I have a textbox that displays the sum of the ClockHrs field.
The textbox contains no code behind.
The Control source property of the textbox is set to '= SUM([ClockHrs])'

1. I created a table that contains information about people and their details (mainly numerical info).
2. I created a form containing a command button and a label.
3. I have written a VBA script under the button so that when the button is pressed, the result of the calculation appears as the caption on the label.
My problem is...How do I get the script to run so it does the calculation for every record and places the result as a field in a query.

I have been given a form that you pass a parameter into and on the basis of this it performs certain amendments to the particular data AND also runs 2 stored procedures on this data. I need to get the data to display on the form so that the user can visually verify if it is the correct data and then they will on click to execute the amendments and stored procedures.
I cannot get the data to display on the screen? I have tried to create a variable in the VBA code to store the data in and then used a message box to try to display it but to no avail?

I have a form where users can look through different records as well as add a new record through a control button. When a new record is added, all the relevant data should end up in the corresponding back end tables.
The problem I am having is that some of the new records I am adding work perfectly (sync with the tables, etc). Other records, however, are showing up in the tables but not in the actual form. For example, when I attempt to search in the form for the record name, nothing comes up.
The Datasheet View is set to No, so it's definitely not that. I'm not really sure where else to look - the new records appear in tables and the report I have linked to the form, they just don't all show up in the actual form!

I'm trying to place a picture on my forms using a browse button code i found on the net. After picking a picture, the image won't display automatically during run time, i still need to select design view and finally form view just to display the image. Im using the events form current, and the text box afterupdate.

I have a combo box on a form that is liked to a table (current). That table has a list of available items and a count at the end of it. For example, apples, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, 4. Is it possible to have the combo box on the form subtract 1 from the count when an item is selected from the list? So when apple is selected the count of 4 is changed to 3.

I have a field called PriceSoldFor and I need to calculate and display this field multiplied by 3.4%. This is what I have tried and reading elsewhere it should work.In the Control Source of an unbound TextBox I have entered the following:
=[PriceSoldFor]*[.034]
But when I view the form the field displays the following:

I am trying to create a form where I store the literacy and numeracy results of a group of students. So far I have designed a form which gives me a tick box as to whether the test they took was literacy or numeracy, then a box where I enter the score. Literacy tests are scored out of 72 and numeracy out of 50.
what I would like to do is write something that shows the literacy numeracy levels of each student after each test. So for literacy, the score ranges are as follows:
0 - 13 Below Entry 1
14 - 32 Entry 1
33 - 52 Entry 2
53 - 65 Entry 3
66 - 7 Level 1
What I would like to be able to do is tick whether or not they sat a literacy or numeracy test, enter the score and the db to come up with their level and display it on the form.

I am using Access 2007.I have an application that keeps track of automotive parts and accessories.I have a table called "PARTS" that contains information about the various parts such as "part_name", "part_id", "price" etc.
I also have a website/shop that displays these various parts and also has an image of each part.I have managed to incorporate Microsoft Web Browser ActiveX functionality within the app so that when I scroll through the Parts table using the PartsForm, it automatically "reads" the URL from a field in the Parts table called "ImageURL" and displays it in the Microsoft Web Browser ActiveX browser window...this works great.

I am making a database for my work place where there is telephone counsellors and they need to complete a certain number of supervision hours and a few other categories of hours required for training and several other things. The manager wants to be able to see the total supervision hours and the other categories for a worker when the worker is selected and the date range for the queried time entered.
I have a form that has quite a few items on it. I have two text boxes that allow me to enter a start date and an end date, I have a combo box that allows me to select a worker and I have 3 text boxes that I want to populate with the sum of 3 separate columns in another table when the date is entered and the worker selected so the manager can see, at a glance, how many hours each worker has done on the separate items. Maybe I would need an update button at the bottom that, when clicked, would perform the required calculations.
I have 3 queries that return the required information but I need to get one of the columns from the query results put into each of the 3 text boxes. Basically, when I click on the buttons the right query appears, I just want column 3 (which is a sum column) to get put in the corresponding text box and I want all the boxes to display the sum of their corresponding queries when a date and person is selected.The form is called frmSearch, the 3 queries are called qry_sumisshours, qry_sumisshours and qry_sumtcshours. The 3 text boxes I need to get populated from the queries are called txt_ results_ sv_ hours, txt_results_TCS_hours and txt_results_iss_hours.

I have a bound form to an invoices table. The form details all invoices raised, all payments made and an outstanding balance. The outstanding balance control is just a basic text box.
On form load, I go to the payment table and select all payments into a recordset, I then add up all payments and use the following calculation:-
Balance = InvTotal - paytotal
The Invtotal is the control on the form that has it's control source set as sum(invoicetotal)
The calculation used to work and the correct balance was displayed, indeed, for one particular client, the calculation works, but for all others, the summed value is blank and so the balance is effectively set to the paytotal value.
I know this is to do with the timing as the form loads and it's records/data are made available, as I have an update button that does exactly the same things as the form load and when pressed, all numbers work.....primarily because the summed invoicetotal value is now available in the form control.
I can see what is happening, but not sure why...I thought that form load gave you all records and would have populated the summed control before triggering the load event....obviously not.....

I have a form that a user will use to search records. Upon selecting a record, there are three buttons that allows the user to look at more detailed information. This information will be on the many side of the relationship. So I will have multiple values. The called form is just a popup form that I use for several other instances, like displaying memo fields from other tables.
The problem I am having is that only one record shows up at a time on the called form. I have read through the postings and have changed the properties for Default View, Filter on Load, Data Entry, etc. Nothing seems to change the outcome. I have run the query in SQL view and have no issues. It returns the correct records and multiple rows when expecting. Why they don't show up on the form. There are no errors, just the first record from the many side of the relationship shows up in the form. I would like all records to show up, just like when I run the query.

I have created a navigation form with quick access to the forms and reports I use most often. The Navigation Form (which I named Control Panel) automatically lands on the Tutor_Information Form on a current record. However, I would like for it to open to a blank form instead while retaining the ability to access the current records. Individually, when opening the Tutor_Information Form from the Navigation Panel, it opens to a blank record.
I used a 2 step macro
1. OpenForm
2. GoToRecord - New.
How can I make it do the same thing when landing on the Navigation Form (Control Panel)? I am using Access 2013.

How you could display a few selected fields in different rows within the same table.
SO as an example
Machine_No Board_No Board_Mode Board_Data

Based on which Machine_No i pick, i would like to display it's Board_Mode and Board_Data for all Board_No values (1,2,3)
