Forms :: Duplicate Records Created Using Two Subforms In Main Form

Jun 23, 2014

I have created a database in microsoft access 2010 to show invoices for different customers in different countries. In doing so, I created using a two subforms in a main form. I have used the "country name" to link the subforms to the main form. When I enter new records into the subforms for a specific country, I realized that a duplicate record of an old record are being created in the subforms. What can I do to prevent this from happening? I tried to change the query link between the main form and subform to "invoice number" but the same problem has occurred.

I am novice to microsoft access 2010 ...

Confused: Main Form, Subforms And New Records

Feb 23, 2006

Hi All,

I’m hoping someone can help a very confused newbie

While I have knowledge in using MSAccess I can honestly say I am well and truly stuck. I have searched the forum, but cannot find anything to help me out … if there is anything I am sorry for re-posting. While there may be helpful responses, they mostly involve code, which I do not know.

I have a Main Form (frmPreApprovedTravel) and numerous Subforms (sfrmFlightRail, sfrmHotel, etc). I have designed my Main Form with tabs and each tab contains staff details, flight, hotel, taxi, etc information.

My problem is that when I go to the next record in my Main Form I want the Subforms (all of them) to go to the next record as well. I know this is possible but having tried to figure it out myself for the last 2 hours, but know I’m still missing something!

I would appreciate any help and thank you in advance for the help and taking the time to read my problem.

Button On Main Form To Change Records Of All Subforms In Sync

Aug 29, 2012

I have a main form and four subforms all of which were created from the tables without queries. The main form pulls employees personal data (never changes). The subforms pull Events attended, Lodging at the event, Family that attended the event and Employee minutia which changes per event. I'd like to have a button on the main form that changes the records in view for all of the subforms at once. This way it is easier for the users and I know that I am view all the pertainent info for event A instead of viewing event A's lodging info with event B's family info.

Forms :: When Duplicating A Record Duplicate Is Created But Form Remains In Edit Mode

Feb 25, 2014

I have a form with a duplicate record button.Sometimes when duplicating a record the duplicate is created but the form remains in edit mode (small pencil in the form margin).I also have a manual record counter on the form which does not refresh to the newest record number following the duplication? Both issues happen together and not independently.

I now have the standard MS Access record counter visible on the form to see whats happening and this always jumps correctly to a new record number when duplication is triggered, so when the problem happens the MS Access counter is showing one more than my own record counter.

If I use the standard MS Access record navigation buttons and go back and then forward by one record, the duplicated record is then corrected. The edit mode pencil is gone and both record counters read the same, which I assume has happened this has forced a save to happen

If Me.Dirty
Then Me.Dirty = False
End If

- in the current event of the form, would solve the problem, but it doesnt make any difference at all, its still no better, or no worse than before?Using CTRL + S removes the pencil, but doesn't correct my bespoke record counter?

General :: Linking 2 Subforms To Parent Form - Merging Duplicate Records

Aug 28, 2014

Users are too lazy to check whether a patient record exists or not. Consequently, we have a number of duplicate records that I would like to merge.

My problem is finding a way of linking 2 subforms to a parent that is not based upon a query.

On the parent form, I want two Comboboxes called 'Patient_to_Keep' and 'Patient_to_Discard'.

The two subforms called Frm_DUP_Patient1 and Frm_DUP_Patient2 should then display the data of the respective combo boxes.

Once I have this working, I can write the necessary code to compare and update the data as required.

Is there any way to open the forms in a subform in my main form?

Forms :: Linking Two Unrelated Subforms To Main Form

Feb 5, 2014

I am trying to link two unrelated sub forms to a main form so I am able to query data all at once and make a report that displays all this data at once. I do not know if this is possible. I will tell you to the best of my ability about what I have going on.

My main form is a shift report. The primary key is a auto number ID. The rest of the fields are date, name, shift, vehicle. etc.

The first sub form is area attendance. Field are as follows auto number ID (primary key), report ID(which comes from the main form, linked), the area, and the area attendance.

The second sub form is the event log. Fields are as follows auto number ID (primary key), report ID(which comes from the main form, linked), time in, and events.

My relationship now is simply primary key from the shift report (the autonumber) going to the first and second subforms report ID's.

Problem is I can not query two distinct subforms like this (I realized).

Forms :: Main Form With Multiple Tabs - Sync Two Related Subforms

Jul 28, 2014

I have a main form with multpile tabs - each tab containing a different subform.

Link Master Field: ClientID (field in Master Form)
Link Child Field: Client ID (field in all subforms)

There is another field that all the subforms (continuous type) have: ObligorName. All the subforms are based off of a huge table (subtable) with fields: Obligor Name, Address, Zipcode, City, DOcuments Required, Bank Account Number, etc......

Essentially, the user will fill in the 10 obligor names associated to ONE client on the first subform on the first tab + address + zip code + city.

When the user clicks on the second tab to fill out the next subform, I want all 10 obligor names to be there already, so then they can fill out Documents Required + BAnk Account Number.

If I fill out the first subform and then exit out of the form and then reopen it, the other subforms autofill.

HOWEVER, I dont want to have the user have to do this. It wastes a lot of time. What can I do about this so that the table is automatically updated right away. They are all based on the same table so I do not see why there is so many issues.

Forms :: Main Form With 2 Subforms Fails To Open Current Record

May 12, 2014

I have a main form "frmDriverNoticeRecord" with 2 subforms, "frmSubDriverNotice" and "frmSubVehicleRecord"..The main form uses "IncidentID" as the PK. Each form stores data in its own table. The tables are related via IncidentID and there is a 1-many relationship between tblIncident (main) and tblDN (sub) and tblVehicle (sub).

I have a form "frmIncidentLog" displaying records in a table view with a few fields for quick reference and to allow selection of a single record for detailed viewing. I created a command button with the intent to open the "frmDriverNoticeRecord" at the current record. The main form and child link fields appear to be linked correctly; i.e. IncidentID on all three. If I open the form manually it opens and I can use it and search and filter as I want. If I try to open it via the command button It opens a small window asking for the IncidenID, when I enter theIncidentID number, it opens the form to the first record every time. Here is the code:

Private Sub comOpenDR_Click()

Dim frmName As String
Dim recID As String
frmName = "frmDriverNoticeRecord"
recID = "[IncidentID]=" & Me![IncidentID]
DoCmd.OpenForm frmName, , , recID
End Sub

I tried running the the DoCmd.OpenForm command directly from the button using the where condition (in various manners) with the same results.

Automatically Adding New Records In 5 Other Tables When ID Is Created In Main Table

Jan 13, 2008

Okay I had an idea and I thought I might get ffedback as I am relatively new to this. I went through a period a couple of years ago when I used access alot and was becoming familiar with VBA etc but I havent touched it in 2 years so Im pretty rusty.

I am running a study and need to have to create a database that:

a. collects data about participants
b. Has a number of questionnaires (5), each of which can be filled out by participants.

THe main table has a number of fields that collects info about the participants the most important of which will be the ParticipantID - an automatically generated number which is my primary key.

In table 2/form 2 I will host questionnaire one. This will be linked to Table 1/Form 1 (Particpant Information) by this tables primary key - also the Participant ID. The relationship will be 1:1. Each participant can only have one Participant ID and will only need to fill out questionnaire one once.

Is it possible that when I add a new participant to the Participant Information table/form I also automatically create a record in Table 2/Form 2 (Questionnaire 1), as well as Table 3/Form3 (Questionnaire 2) and so on so that they have the same ParticipantID...?

I was reading a similar query somewhere else and they said to use the Form_AfterInsert Event command? Is this right (see here http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1687644.php)?

I feel a bit stupid but I am willing to learn and try new things Once I get started I think I will be okay. If you could steer me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Forms :: Tracking Database - Update Information In Subforms Automatically From Main Form

Jul 6, 2013

I am attempting to create a patient tracking database for a clinic I work in and I am stuck at one small but major part.

I have a parent form called frm_Patient_index. On this form you can enter patient details such as personal details, observations ect. I need to create a lab request form for certain tests to be performed.

I want so that a button on the frm_patient_index form opens a subform where the relevent tests can be requested via tick boxes. Now here is my problem I have managed to create all of that except for the information to be entered into the frm_lab_request automatically and get SAVED to its corresponding table. It will not save for me.

I can get the information such as Badge Number, First Name, Surname and DOB to all enter into the fields automatically but getting them to save to the table is not happening.

Forms :: Records Don't Show When Created From Blank Form?

Aug 29, 2013

Very suddenly today, when I'd done seemingly nothing, all of the records from my form that I'd built from a blank form disappeared, with the exception of the first record. When I try to just close everything down, nothing changes. When I put in a new record to the form, however, it's saved in the table. But when I save and close, the form goes back to only having the first record! This is very annoying, for easily perceivable reasons. I even tried creating the form from scratch, to see if it's some residual SQL update code acting funny, and nothing changed! It seems to work if I select a table and just create a form, though. It doesn't even work when it's a splitform and whatnot.

Queries :: Mass Duplicate Main Records And Related Subform Records

May 29, 2014

In my simple database (attached), I need to mass duplicate Tasks and their Notes.

I have three tables: tbTasks (PK: Task_ID), tbNotes (PK: Note_ID), jtbTaskNotes (FKs: Task_ID and Note_ID). jtbTaskNotes is my many-to-many junction table that ties Tasks to Notes.

The main form (fmTasks), bound to tbTasks, has a subform (sbfm_TaskNotes) that displays notes associated with each Task. On themain form, you select which Tasks you want duplicated via a checkbox. The append query (quCopyTasks) will duplicate all tasks that have the checkbox checked. All good there. However, I can't figure out how to also duplicate each task's Notes.

I found Allen Browne's solution [URL] ....., but that only handles duplication of one record at a time, whereas I need to duplicate many records at a time (sometimes 10+ records). How do I go about duplicating multiple Tasks and their associated Notes?

Before you ask "why are you duplicating records?": There are times when tasks need to be re-accomplished and therefore need to have a new record. It's easier to duplicate records than it is to hand-jam everything again.

Forms :: Duplicate Record Created Each Time In Customer Relationship

Sep 14, 2014

I am creating an access database for recording calls and follow ups for a company

relevant tables
mst_customers
card_call

ID from customers and customer_id from card_call have a one to many with all records of card_call

Although its more elaborate than this, lets get down to the problem

I created a form with a subform that should basically allow selection of customer and based on this, the creation of records in card_call as per customer selected. form and subform are linked by customer_id

Everything is working except a peculiar issue where if i select a customer_id it shows all relevant records + an additional record (usually 1 or 2) that just changes the customer_id for that record.

Example

customer_ID = 2 (combobox bound to column1 and showing name/column2)

output
call_ID | Customer_ID
1 | 2
2 | 2
3| 2

changing customer_id to 4 will change to
1 | 4
(new) |

Summary From Subforms On Main Form

Feb 17, 2006

Hi everyone

I use Access 2003 and have created a form with several subforms which I've placed onto a number of tabs. I'd like to have some of the most recently entered data from the subforms displayed on the main form.

For instance - if one of the subforms details the repairs to my car, in terms of date, items repaired, name of the mechanic and the cost, I'd like the most recent date of repair to be displayed on the main form. I know that I can see it be clicking the "Car Repairs" tab then scrolling down the information, but I'd like to have it displayed for easy viewing. I'm not sure if I'd need to have some VBA to do this or if it can be achieved by, for instance, creating a query to populate the appropriate textbox on the main form.

Thanks for your time and patience!

Accessing Subforms From Main Form

Jul 25, 2006

I have two subforms. They are in nice neat grids as access setup for me. Both of these forms should have similar data, based on a upc. What I need to do is turn the text of an entire row to red when there is no matching upc in the other subform. The two problems I cannot figure out is as follows.

1. How can I access the forecolor property of a text box in a subform from the main form?

2. How do I access only one row of data, in the default grid?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Forms :: Display Subform Records On Main Form As Text

Jun 28, 2014

I have a form with a subform in it. The Subform relates to a junction table.

For each record on the main form, there may be more than one record on the subform. The Subform only has one field on it (a combobox).

What I want to be able to do is have a text box on the main form that shows a concatenated list of all of the records on the subform.

For example, if I have 2 subform records, 'Yellow' and 'Blue', I want a textbox on the main form record to show 'Yellow, Blue'.

I have tried so many things I have found online (over about 5 hours, including a module called ConcatRelated) and absolutely nothing works!

Forms :: Check All Records In A Subform Based On CBO Of Main Form

Jun 28, 2015

I have a form with 22 subforms (in about 11 tabs). Each one of these subforms has a controlling field in the main form (table) that dictates if the associated subform needs to comply with data entry rules or not.

For example:
Field in main form cboMed (Yes; No)
Subform: frmSubMeds has a list of medications

I want to be able to loop through all the records of the subform and determine if they are complete.

This check is run from a command button; that should also consider the value in the combo box. i.e. Check only if the combo has a value of "Yes"

Since i have 22 subforms and have to run the check on everyone of them, i have used the tag property to check if the record is blank or not. This is what i have so far

Code:
For Each ctl In Me.Controls
Select Case ctl.Properties("ControlType")
Case acSubform ' only look for subforms
If ctl.Enabled Then
If Not (IsNull(ctl.Properties("SourceObject"))) Then 'if it is a subform type

[Code] ....

The problem with this is that it only looks for the selected record in the subform and doesnt look for ALL the records.

Forms :: Adding Multiple Records To A Table Using Main Form And Not A Subform

Sep 12, 2013

I have an existing Main form that has a sub form that the user uses to enter multiple records into a table....it works fine EXCEPT that I need to make it even easier and more intuitive and add a lot of labels. Basically the user selects items from a drop down list that adds items to a Work Order. I need to add some labels to the form to make it more descriptive for the user.

So, what I want to add multiple records using a single main form.

Is is possible to?:

1. simply turn the subform into a single main form? Can this be done by using a Command button or something similar?

2. copy all of the controls etc from the sub form into a new main form and have it all work nicely?
