Forms :: Duplicating Tabbed Form And Change Record Source
Aug 7, 2014
I have a navigation form that has a tabbed form on one of its tabs. The tabbed form has a 'current client' query record source and allows one to choose from a list of current clients and when a client is selected - details relating to client are displayed on various tabs on tabbed form.
I want to duplicate tabbed form and change record source to a query selecting 'exited clients' so I can see same information but for exited clients.
I have created a new tab on navigation form for my new exited clients tabbed form and changed record source by creating a new exited client query but when I change record source on exited client tabbed form it automatically changes record source of current client tabbed form to the exited client query and visa versa.

I have a form that currently uses a "catch all" table for listing available equipment to choose from for an equipment field. I call it tblEquipment. What I want to do is to make it so when I type a name in (1 of 35) in one field of the current record, the record source for the equipment field immediately looks at a different table that has equipment available only for that name. To do this I plan on making 35 different tables with limited data originally found in tblEquipment. I would call these tblEquipment1, tblEquipment2, etc. I do not use a sub form, nor do I want to.
So my questions are:
1) can this be done
2)If it can be done, how can I do it?

I have a main form that has 10 sub forms Each sub form’s record source is link to a different Query.
It takes more then a minute to open the form, (because it’s running the query for all sub forms). So I changed the sub forms source to SELECT * FROM tblTest WHERE false;
I also changed the main form. When the button on the main form is clicked, it’s adding the following:
Me.SubMySub.Form.RecordSource = "select * from qMyQuery"
Me. SubMySub.Form.Requery
However, after I close the main form, the sub form’s record source stays linked to
SELECT * FROM qMyQuery;
And will take the same long time again to open the main form.
Does anyone have any solution?

In my database scenario, a patient would see a doctor and the doctor would check off fields in a form representing different disease symptoms that the patient has to calculate a final score (for ex. if the patient has 2 symptoms, the final score would be 2).
After a few months, the patient would visit the doctor again, and the doctor will have to fill out the same form, adding any new symptoms the patient might now have. I would like to have the disease symptom fields checked off in the previous visit automatically show up in the new form, so that the doctor only has to add the new symptoms, and then recalculate the score using both the old and new data (for ex., if the patient had 2 symptoms before and 3 more symptoms now, the score would be 5).

I have a form with a duplicate record button.Sometimes when duplicating a record the duplicate is created but the form remains in edit mode (small pencil in the form margin).I also have a manual record counter on the form which does not refresh to the newest record number following the duplication? Both issues happen together and not independently.
I now have the standard MS Access record counter visible on the form to see whats happening and this always jumps correctly to a new record number when duplication is triggered, so when the problem happens the MS Access counter is showing one more than my own record counter.
If I use the standard MS Access record navigation buttons and go back and then forward by one record, the duplicated record is then corrected. The edit mode pencil is gone and both record counters read the same, which I assume has happened this has forced a save to happen
If Me.Dirty
Then Me.Dirty = False
End If
- in the current event of the form, would solve the problem, but it doesnt make any difference at all, its still no better, or no worse than before?Using CTRL + S removes the pencil, but doesn't correct my bespoke record counter?

On that form we have 4 tabbed pages, 3 of which get used regularly. Unfortunately though, the Notes page does not get used very often. The reason is because people say that they don't want to click on the page if there is not going to be any information there to read, and they don't want to enter information if no one is going to read it.
Therefore, I was wondering if there was a way to have the page name, "Notes", change color if notes have been typed? Or, maybe an asterisk (*) shows up next to the page name if notes have been typed.

OK. I have a report that I want to use as a master and use with about 4 different querys. In the report properties I've bound it to a query. I've tried for ages to change the record sources with on click command bottons on another form. I think things have become complicated because there's a subreport on the report I AND a there's bunch of code to make things invisible in the on page event of the report.
anyway, here's what I'm using:
DoCmd.OpenReport "rpt_master", acViewPreview
Me.RecordSource = "qry_rptPrintRollClass"
Is this the right way to do it??
Any ideas on how I can clean it up??
Thanks
Damon

I created a button in a form that duplicates the record so our employees can fill in the form more quickly.
I know I am being greedy, but is there someway to change the VBC so I only duplicate certain fields in a record, not all of them?
I have attached a (.jpg) of the Duplicate record code that is automatically created by Access when you use the "Duplicate record" option when making up a button on a form. I have attached a 2nd (.jpg) which shows the (7) fields I want to duplicate, out of the (20) available fields for each record.

This code loads a new subform in the frame. It then scopies a value to an input field but then i need to set the record source and display the data. This latest pasrt does not work.I've been trying for some time now by changing the part before recordsource but no luck.
Code:
gekozenwo = Me.Keuzelijst0
Forms!switchboard.subfrmWindow.SourceObject = "frmInformation"
Dim frm As Form
Set frm = Forms!switchboard.subfrmWindow.Form
frm.DataEntry = True
Forms!switchboard.subfrmWindow.Form!Tekst33 = gekozenwo
MsgBox gekozenwo
frm.RecordSource = "SELECT * , [orders_maint_detail]![woisnr] & ' / ' & [orders_maint_detail]![Ordernummer] AS Expr1 " _
& "FROM orders_maint_detail " _
& "WHERE (((orders_maint_detail.woisnr)='" & gekozenwo & "'));"
Me.Requery
wonr = gekozenwo

Access 2013 on a Window 8.1 system.
I have a combo box based on a look-up table which I use to filter the records in the form. Seems after closing the form and reopening it, the filter remains.
I'm not sure if this is referred to filtering or restricting the records.
The value in the record source doesn't get changed but the records displayed don't reflect this. The records shown are the last filter I selected in the combo box.
The only work around I have found is I must explicitly set the record source in the on open of the form.
The was not occurring with access 2010. And I have made no changes what-so-ever.

I have one form which houses all my product information via the use of a query and subforms where appropriate. I would like to filter it in order to find records missing certain information.
I want to filter the information using a combo box.
The combo box has a user friendly name (Product Dimensions) and the name of a query related to that name (qryfilter_missing_prod_dims - this query is the record source query for the form plus the query that has the missing info, the query is set to return all records that match ie. all records that are missing info).
I want to write a vba code to filter my form based on that query.
And i can't get it to work using the cmd.applyfilter (docmd.applyfilter me.cbo_missing)
I've also tried to use me.recordsource. when i do it filters perfectly, but i can no longer edit any of my data in the form.
How to filter my form using a query that is not in the native form's record source?

In short can I display a field on a form that is not in the forms field list without using a sub-form? I am trying to show a value from a query on this form. I tried this in the control source:
[qry_op500_entry_delta]![countofphone model]
I get an error stating that this is not in my field list for the form.
If the answer is No or if needed I can give more information on what I am trying to do.

In my database I have a form who's record source is a query. That query is based on a table, and have set a criteria on one of the fields.
When I use the form to add a new record I want the value of the field in question to automatically be what I have specified in the query.
Instead, the record is added but without having that value in the field, and when I go back to the form it doesn't display the record because it doesn't meet the criteria specified in the query that the form is based on.

Is it possible to assign a query to the recordsource of a form dynamically? I assume the answer is yes. Can this action be done when the form is not open? If yes what is the correct syntax to use when the code is in a normal module as a public sub? I tried many possibilities and could not get it to work.
Code:
Dim ForNm as string
Dim Qry as string
ForNm = "PersonalFm"
Forms(ForNm).Recordsource = Qry
Forms![PersonalFm].Recordsource = Qry
[Forms]![PersonalFm].Form.Recordsource = Qry

I am setting up a generic form template that will enable me to maintain data in a standardised way. All generic code is stored in a module. There is very little code specific to the table being maintained. Much of the form functionality is determined by data held in supporting tables therefore data driven.
When a form is loaded a commonly named query is created that is used as the Record Source of the form. This query only ever returns one record and uses the value of textbox on the form as criteria in the unique id field.
Despite immediately creating the query in the Open event of the form, Access tries to process the form first and returns an error as the Record Source query applies to another form, the one last opened.
How can I create the query before anything on the form is referenced / processed without creating it before the form is opened?

I am building a database where one Form displays records from 14 different tables. For some reason, when I recently try to add a field on to a form from a new table, the ENTIRE form loses the record source, and every single field that is already on the form gets that green dot in the corner with errors surrounding a record source that cannot be found. What am I doing wrong? Am I exceeding some limitations with forms?

First off a big thank you to this forum... have solved a lot of questions I have had and some I never knew I had. Keep in mind this is all from a non-programmer so my question(s) might not be technically sound.
The issue I have is I have built a database to track documents that we process. It is uses an autonumber and that has worked great. The issue is eventually this document gets processed in our accounting system and I want to retrieve data from there and add it to the document record.
I figured out how to like the ODBC database and that worked, but I get an expression error. The field in the ODBC database is text and in Access it is an Autonumber.
Is there a way to copy the autonumber field and change it to text property to align with the other database?
All help welcome and appreciated.

I have a tabbed form in a navigation form with a chart on it. The records source of the chart is a query. The query runs when you click the tab and takes a long time. I changed the Row Source of chart to "" and that eliminates the query running on form load. I've read many posts on changing that row source when a command button is clicked. I tried
Code:
Me!Suspend_Trending_Dashboard![chart].RecordSource = suspend_trend_CHART
in the onclick event of the command button. This doesn't work. I've tried many variations of the syntax. I don't know if I have to tell the query to run after the row source is changed.
On a side note, the query criteria is based on beginning and end dates entered into text boxes on the form. This all works if the query loads when the form is opened.

I have a form with a listbox in it. I want the listbox to update as the record changes.Let me get a little more in-depth...The form will be used to identify merchandise that exists in the company to fulfill current POs.
What I want is for the listbox (which displays Store Locations) to update when the PO# updates on the form (so as the record changes).Currently, the listbox only pulls all the store locations no matter if you hit next record to get a new PO.The two main fields I am working with are PO# (text box) and Store Locations (the listbox).How can I get the listbox to update as the record changes on the form?

I've set hyperlinks to a couple of forms using the hyperlink address in properties. All works fine, and I've done it this way because the cursor changes to pointy hand when hovering over.
However, I need to navigate to a tabbed form in a main form.
Is there a way of doing this? I've been searching all sorts, and the most probable is to concatenate the destination?
description##Page1#page2... or something like that?
Is this correct?
What ever I've tried doesn't work, this includes ...
adding the main form destination to Hyperlink Address, and tabbed form in the SubAddress (Can't find main form)
Using the hyperlink builder. (Can't find anything)
Objects in this database (Only one form).
