Basically I want to put a code in the "on load" event of a form that enables or disables navigation buttons based on a value in a table (the table has 1 record and 1 column).
So if the value is "A", I want to hide navigation buttons on load; if it is "B", I want to show navigation buttons on load.
I know I can set this property in each form, but I have a number of forms that I want to configure at the same time.
My problem is that I don't know how to reference the value in the table.
I have a parent form containing a subform (Datasheet view). The parent form also has a button that I only want enabled when there are records showing in the subform.
Were the records contained in a listbox (as opposed to a subform) - I could simply check the recordcount property but short of running SQL to count the number of records in the underlying table - how can I do this? Any ideas please?
I have created a form in Access 2010 that opens in view only mode. I do this as I do not want data being changed in error. There are times when the user may need to edit some data on the form.
Any way to place an "Edit" button on the form that allows the user to edit the current record? I thought about creating two sepasrate forms, but I really don't want to maintain two of them.
So I have a form that allows me to view the information associated with a specific record. Within this form is also a subform that shows additional information about the record from a junction table. I want to create a button that allows me to edit the information on both forms.
I have created a form (races) with a subform (yachts in a race) to edit data in joined tables. It seems to be working well but I am having difficulty selecting which record to edit in the main form. I can scroll through the records until i get to the correct race but this won't work well when there are a large number of races to choose from.
I can see that I can use linked forms to select a race from a multi form or datasheet and call up my desired form by a double click on the ID field. This should work but isn't really elegant with users scrolling down a long datasheet to select the race record they want to work with. Is there a better way?
Races are uniquely identified by 3 attributes: SeriesDivision, Date & RaceNumber.I have created an index in the Race table for these 3 fields which forces them to be unique.I would love to create an interactive routine which asks users to select from a list for each of these 3 attributes and then returns the form for editing with the appropriate race record selected or even cascading - users select a SeriesDivision can then choose the valid dates for the selected SeriesDivision and can then select the valid raceNumbers for the selected date
I have created a web-database (? - There are globes over all the forms and tables icons) based on the Issues & Tasks template. This means that most of the data is entered and seen on the "Main" form, which has two tabs - Open Issues and Closed Issues. I have created a form that allows people at my work to input the necessary data and save it, so that it will show up on one of the two tabs. However, once a record has been created, I want to be initially locked if the ID/PK is clicked, so that data can't be changed or entered inadvertently.
SO, I changed the code so that when the ID/PK for a record is clicked, it brings up a different form, but one that looks exactly like the one that is brought up when entering a new form, but I locked all of the fields so that the information cannot be changed. It seems from what I have read that I can create a button on this form so that when clicked, it unlocks the fields on the form so that they can be changed, and then when clicked again it will lock the fields again. Is this true? If so, how can I do it? Or is there something similar I can do? I have seen codes that I could copy and paste, but I cannot figure out the place to copy and paste codes in Access 2010.
I have changed the Form properties so that Data Entry and all the "Allows" are set to No...
I have all of my text fields disabled and I want the user to press a button to make them enabled. I have a field that links to the database called, "lastName".Under the button's clicked property, I have coded,
Private Sub Command44_Click() lastName.Enabled = true End Sub
I'm trying to have a button in a form that, when clicked, will time stamp a text box already formatted for time. But once the text box is filled with a time, the button then disables itself for that record.
If I switch to another record where the text box is empty, the button will enable itself without closing the form, but obviously re-disable itself if I go to a record the text box is filled.
I'm sure I could use conditional formatting for it, but I don't think I'm going about it the right way. I already got a basic button built to timestamp.
I have a subform in datasheet view. In the main form I have various combo boxes to filter the data in the subform. I want to be able to check off the checkbox in the subform then filter all records that are checked, however, I am not able to check any of the checkboxes when I'm in my main form.
Example: Sales Region, Order Date, are two fields
I can go in and select "north", "5/20/2013" then filter and let's say I get 55 records
So within the north region on 5/20/2013 I only want to select 5 of the 55 records by checking them off in the subform then in the main form I would drop down the unbound combo box to 'yes' and it would give me all records in the 'north' region with an order date of '5/20/2013' that I checked which should be 5 in this case. But, it won't let me check the box in the subform.
I did a search in the form forum and couldn't find anything close that had a response.
I have a parent form and a sub form.
I have the parent set up to make the enable property false for the command buttons that aren't appropriate when you first open the form: Like Save and Undo.
I want to do the same for the child form, which has different data linked to the parent form.
The parent form always grays out the inappropriate boxes.
The subform will gray them out only if I open it as a stand-alone form. When I put the code in the Open, or Load or Gotfocus events I get an error message that it cannot locate the subform.
I have written code to look up a value in a table that then enables or disables a subform in my main form. The code works, but I know it is now as efficient as it can be. The main problem is that I have multiple values that determine if the subform should be enabled or disabled. I would like to use an IN statement but I'm pretty sure this doesn't work for Dlookup. Below is an example of the code I currently have:
Code: Sub enablecontrols(setting As Boolean) Inv_subform.Enabled = setting End Sub Private Sub Form_Current()
[Code] ....
Like I said, this works fine, but I am concerned if I need to add more items to look up and the stability of the code in general.
I am working on Data entry form where a user can enter the details in the form and save and go ahead, its a single form in default view. I want to provide an edit button with navigation control in this form only where they can edit their wrong record for update.
My programming abilities are mediocre, but not novice.I have a pretty large scale management system to build (more than 40 tables, lots of relationships, forms, etc). One of the structures in the database is the following:
+ Main table ++ Secondary table connected to Main table via FK1. +++Tertiary table connected to Secondary table via FK2.
The above when making the user interface is expressed as a form (Main Table), a subform (Secondary table) and a subform within the subform (Tertiary table).
I need to create a button that duplicates the contents of the main table, the secondary table and the tertiary table. I have already been able to create a button that duplicates the contents of the main table and the secondary table by using Allen Browne's code found online.how do I move forward to embedding in that method the ability to duplicate the contents of the Tertiary Table?
I'm creating a database about Vets and I need to make a button on my menu form that will open something like message box that will allow me to type in something (in my case Customer ID) which will then apply the filter on the customer form and allow me to do edits. I have only done the macro that will open the customer form but can't figure out how to do the filter part.
I thought "Undo" was only available while in the current record. Here were my steps:
1 - Loaded form that shows 1 record per form page. 2 - Edited a record 3 - Moved to another record with status bar nav arrow 4 - Verified my edit was in the underlying table 5 - Moved back to the original record, again using status bar nav arrow 6 - Clicked my "undo" control and the original data appeared in the form 7 - Moved to another record 8 - Verified my original data was now back in the underlying table
I created a form called cptSearch On that form has a list box
What i want to do is when user clicks on cpt in list box and clicks on the edit command button it will open the frm called frmcpt so user can edit details for the specific cpt code
I have a simple split form with datasheet on the bottom and a couple of comboboxes (unbound) on the form header which the user can use for filtering the data. When some users open the form the allowedit property of the form is set to false, because those users can only view the records. But the result is that also the comboboxes cannot be set, hence no filtering!
I have two command buttons in a subform "sbfScoutRegDetails", one that launches a report and the other attaches the report pdf to an email, associated with the record ID when clicked.
Both of these buttons work fine when just the subform itself is open, but when viewing it in its main form, I get a window saying 'enter parameter value' for "Forms!sbfScoutRegDetails!ID" (this is the WHERE condition in the macro). The report then opens with all the record information blank. The full WHERE condition
Code:
[ID]=[Forms]![sbfScoutRegDetails]![ID]
Not sure if it's because of using a continuous form as a subform? I need the user to be able to view/print or email a contract to each group/contact that signs up.
i've got a Form that contains Subform with an embedded Query that contains 2 tables only (Payments & Invoices) the Join properties between them show all records from payments and what matches it from Invoices where the joined fields are equal (Invoice no).. So, when i enter certain data in the main form the Subform show the results for it from Payments table and only one field needed from the Invoices table !!
The problem is.. i can't edit or add any data in the Subform results with the previous setting, but when i completely remove the Invoices table from the embedded Query then swift to the Form and it's Subform.. i become able to edit and add data in the Subform easily... !!
So, how to enable the edit/add in the Subform with the 2 tables in the embedded Query ?! Cause it's really needed to show that field from the Invoices table.
