Forms :: Enter Multiple Classes To A Record

Jan 21, 2014

I have a new scenario today! I have searched database design to try to figure this out and have an effective database as well as adding multiple records to one table that is linked to 1 record in the other table.I have a master student list with their information that has the fields

Student ID
LastName
FirstName
Address
City
Zip
Community

I have another table that has the fields

ClassName
Date
Community
Instructor

What I would like to do is be able to create a form that can add multiple classes for each student. For example, I have Student 1. Student 1 has attended class A, B, C, and D. I would like the form to have the student's name and ID with a way to add multiple classes linked to that student.

Register A Student To Multiple Classes (forms, Combobox, Checkbox, Listbox, Query)

Oct 7, 2005

Hello everyone,

I tried to post this yesterday but it didn't go through for some reasons.

I've attached my database that contains student, classes, and couple other tables. I also created couples of forms and I wanted to register a single student to multiple classes at once.

For example: There're 3 classes (Math, English, History) on 1/3/2006. Student A wants to register 2 classes, Math and English. I should be able to check those two and submit and I'm done.

Currently, I have to select Math and assigns to student A, then select English. That's not good at all. What if there're 10 classes in one day and a student just want to register 8 classes? I have to do eight times.

It'd be great if you could help me. Thank you in advance.

Forms :: How To Auto Enter Date Of Previous Record Into New Record

Aug 26, 2013

I need to know how to auto enter the date of the previous record into a new record. I have this db for my vehicle log sheets and I submit monthly a claim for the business km from my company. I usually cant remember the date of the previous claim and have to scroll back until I find the field with a date. It will be useful if the date was copied into every new record until I edit the date when I submit the claim. What I ask is during the new month all the dates will be the same until I submit the claim. I do not know how to do this, and yes I have done a search.

Forms :: Enter A Value Once For Multiple Records

Apr 17, 2013

I work for a foundry and we bring in lots of raw material for conversion to alloy. Each incoming lot is assigned a number on arrival and is then broken down and processed in batches, typically 9. Each of these batches is then assigned a number as well, again a consecutive number which also includes a letter (the letter designates the product). Process data for each batch is kept and final QC analysis data is also recorded.

My question is: how do I set up a form on which I input the lot number, customer, and source once but that fills in that info for each row in the table with which the form is associated? After conversion, I would like to be able to analyze the process data by one of those 3 values so I need them filled in in the table (I plan to pull the data from the Access table into Minitab for statistical analysis).

Forms :: Enter Multiple Records From One Form

May 12, 2015

I am attempting to setup a database and need setting up a form that captures/enters multiple records from one form.

We have batches of case files consisting of 25 folders each. I would like to setup the form where the user only has to enter the [User], [FileGroupID], [Examiner] and [DateAssigned] just once, but also allow for the individual 25 case file numbers in that batch to be entered. (See attached image)

So far I have created 2 tables; BatchLog table which would capture the batch details that is entered once and a CaseFiles table which would capture the individual case file numbers.

Forms :: Unable To Enter New Data In Form With Fields From Multiple Tables

Jan 6, 2014

I had an existing database with 2329 records entered into it. All of the fields (220ish) were all in one table. Myself and my co-workers wanted to rebuild the database without losing the data. We wrote queries to transfer the data from the original database to the new database and split the data from the original 1 giant table to 9 smaller tables.

The transfer of data worked so I went to start making forms. When I went to add fields from different tables I had to built a relationship, which I did. All of the data that transferred over from the new database is in the form (now multiple forms linked by button) but I can't add new information. I get an error stating, "You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table ..." and the table referenced keeps changing.

Forms :: Cmd Button To Open Form To Enter New Record?

Oct 23, 2013

I have a main form created from a query (FrmQuerySearchResults) which has a sub-form within, (FrmPresentationsTabular) which I am using to show each presentation to our service made by any given client.

For ease of use, I've removed the navigation buttons and want to replace them with my own command buttons. For appearance, I've changed the properties of the sub-form so that 'allow additions' is set to No. This is so that the list of presentations users see does not show the bottom row as a new record.

I'm trying (using macros) to add a button in the footer of the subform that opens a new form (FrmNewPresentation) which opens to a blank record allowing the user to click button, enter info, hit close.

I'm having all sorts of trouble getting this button to do as its told! So far, I have a macro that has 2 steps, first it opens FrmNewPresentation, then it has action GoToRecord, with record set to New, object type set to Table, object name set to Presentations (the name of my table populating this sub-form).

I realise the problem may be the allow additions property being set to No, so I believe I need to add parts to this Macro that goes to that property and changes it on opening the input form - I keep getting a message saying "The object 'Presentations' isn't open.

Forms :: Updating Record On Table - Enter Parameter Value Dialog Box Appearing?

May 16, 2015

I am having a problem updating a record on a table called BookInTable . The field I want to update is called Engineer and the record is found using the field Barcode. I have a form with 2 text boxes BarTxt and EngTxt as well as a button called SaveBtn. on the OnClick event of the SaveBtn I put the following code

Code:

Private Sub SaveBtn_Click()
If IsNull(Me![BarTxt]) Or (Me![BarTxt]) = "" Then
MsgBox "Please enter a value!", vbOKOnly, "Invalid Search Criterion!"
Me![BarTxt].SetFocus
Exit Sub
End If

DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET Engineer = " & Me!EngTxt & " WHERE BarCode ='" & Me![BarTxt] & "'"

End Sub

But this is bringing up the enter Parameter value dialog box for whatever I type into EngTxt. If I enter text into that box and then click okay it then updates to the record. how can I stop the from enter Parameter value dialog box appearing?

Finding Missing Classes, Pt II

Jul 18, 2006

First I want to thank everyone who sent me a response to my original problem. Unfortunately I still have not been able to get the results that I need. So for those new individuals who may have missed my original thread I will try again:

I have 1 table (Student Records) that looks like this:

Last Name, First Name, Class Title, Completion Date

And I have a 2nd Table (Course List) that looks like this:

Class ID, Class Title, Frequency

What I am looking for is a query to tell me which of the classes in the table Course List are not in Student Records Table. Basically I needto know which students haven't completed a course.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Adding Students To Classes

Sep 2, 2015

I am in the process of setting up a DB for my partners school.

I have student and class tables. I have these linked in a many to many with a junction table.

I am making a student data entry form and I cant work out how to add the student to the class.

Ideally I would have a combo box to select the class and then when one is selected a fresh empty combo box would appear beneath it.

Students, Lessons, Classes Problem

Oct 31, 2006

I've been designing a database for a private school.
Every Student attends some Lessons in specific Classes.

To my knowledge I can meet the above requirement by using a join table
which holds StudentID, LessonID and ClassID,
or to have a join table StudentsandLessons which holds StudentID and LessonID
and another table with a one-to-one relation with StudentsandLessons which holds the ClassID for every Student-Lesson record.

The first way has the disadvantage of not allowing null values for records.
This is a problem for me, because in the school the want firstly to enter Lessons
and afterwards - when Schedule is ready to - enter Classes.
I thought a solution to the above restriction could be the Classes field to have a default value e.g. NoClassYet but this isn't aesthetically correct for me.
The second way overcomes the above restriction, but it doesn't seem "programmatically " correct to me.

Any ideas would be far more than just helpful.
Thank you in advance

Form I Can Enter Multiple Values Into.

Feb 17, 2006

Hello,

I am making a database and I am currently doing my forms. I have been using wizards and so far everything I have wanted to be able to do has been achievable, except for where I am now! I am making a 'purchases' form. What I want to be able to do is make multiple purchases in the one form. Let me try and give you an example to further explain myself.

Lets say Mr John Smith wants to purchase 1 black pen, 1 30cm ruler, 2 rubbers and a compass.

I want it so that rather than have to add each one of the purchases one by one, I want to be able to add them all in the same time and be able to go back to my purchases table and see:

Mr John Smith - 1 black pen
Mr John Smith - 1 30cm Ruler
Mr John Smith - 3 rubbers
etc

Hopefully you understand what I mean?

Can anyone assist me?

Most appreciated!
Adam

Enter Parameter Dates Once For Multiple Queries?

Jan 16, 2008

I have created a db with 10 linked tables from 10 db's.
I then build 10 queries associated to these linked tables.
The 10 queries filter data by start date and end date.
The data generated from each query is then exported to excel (each query has its own sheet in the woorkbook).

Dim Output_Path_And_File As String

Output_Path_And_File = "C:" & "Production Labor hrs Querie.xls"

DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs 3-WAY", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-ACV", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-EAP", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-EVMV", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-PFE", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-propor", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-SEGR", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-TBO", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-VCA", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, 8, "labor hrs-VFS", Output_Path_And_File, False, ""

How can I set these queries up by typing the start date and end date only once rather than 10 times?

Thank you

Forms :: Multiple Entries For One Record

I have created a DB to hold training records for a company and have been using it for some years. When I record training I have to enter the data for one person at a time which is fine when you only need to do 10 or 12 but recently I had twenty people complete the same training and I don't really want to enter them one at a time.

What I would liket to be able to do is to bring up the Training Form, select the one Training Description (TrainingDescriptionQuery) and then select multiple Employees from the EmployeeDetailsQuery.

Forms :: Create One Record In One Table And Multiple In Another

Oct 8, 2014

I have two tables which are in a one-to-many relationship (the example I am dealing with is a mother and her children).

I want one form for the mother, with fields such as date of birth, and when you click Add Record I want the mother table to be updated with the new record.

However on this form I also want a field for "number of children" and when the Add Record button is clicked, not only does the table containing all the mothers get a record added, I would like XX records added to the children table where XX is the number of children entered into the form. These should have separate IDs but retain a common field that identifies the mother.

Forms :: Find And Update A Record Using Multiple Criteria

May 30, 2015

I Have a forms which brings up a record in textboxes when you hit a search Button using a value that you type into a Textbox called BarTxt. My problem is that this value may not be unique. Therefore I'm trying to find and update the table using 2 values from the table (Barcode and PurchaseOrder).I have entered the code

Code:

Private Sub SearchBtn_Click()
PNTxt = DLookup("PartNumber", "BookInTable", "BarCode ='" & [BarTxt] & "'" And "PurchaseOrder ='" & [POTxt] & "'")
End Sub

This however is just bringing up a Type mismatch error. Even though both are text fields. Also even if I just use Barcode to search which works. My update Code

Code:

DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET DateBookedOut = '" & Me!DateTxt & "' WHERE BarCode ='" & [BarTxt] & "'" AND PurchaseOrder ='" & [POTxt] &

I get an Compile error saying "expected expression".

Forms :: Multiple Record Input At Same Time In Form

Sep 15, 2013

We store data for clients which can be found online. Our current method of getting the data so we can analyze it is to copy a table found online and pasting it into excel.

What we want to do is to copy that data into an access table. This equates to inputting multiple records at the same time. There are 5 columns and around 20 rows (records) pasted at the same time. I want to do this in Access, through a form which would them store that data in the appropriate table.

I assume there is an ActiveX control out there which can put a spreadsheet in an access form. Then i could maybe write a VBA procedure to input the data into a table.
