Forms :: Existing Data In Field Of Subform Also Filtered By Combo Box On Main Form
Mar 7, 2014
I have a form with subform (datasheet) .
On my subform i have one field which shows the
productId ( which is filtered from combo boxes on main form) .
productId contains two columns
1 bound column(id) ( hidden with width 0 )
2 column (desription) ( shown with width 2 )
Now after entering the data when i come back to the form again . It hides the data from the productId field on subform , because data in combo box (on main form) doesn't match. Although the row is showing up , only the text in field (productId) is hidden.
Now when i change data in combo box on main form to match the ProductId , then the productId field text shows again. after changing combo box it hides . What i need is the existing data should not hide when i change the combo box selection.
see pic 1 where product matches and pic 2 where not. please note i am using master child relationship on the form/subform.
I have faced with a problem while i was filtering my main form.....my problem is when i filter the main or parent form the related sub-form also gets filtered how to manage the main form so that when i filter it the sub-form should not be filtered so that i can get the related record to my filtered one in the sub-form... as for the time being when i filter the main form the related record in the sub-form is not shown and when i press unfiltered on the sub-form its data gets appeared....
How can I get the value from a field in one table (in the sub form) to copy/insert into a field in another table (in the main form) when adding a new record? The main form and sub form are linked using parent/child linking, and the sub form is in a tab.I have table A (Visit Dates) in the main form which is used to record the date of a visit to a church. Table B (Quarters and Peals) is used to record an event that took place at that church during that visit. Note that not all visits in table A require a record to be created in table B - but half or more do.
In tables A and B I have a field called "QuarterOrPealID" and these are both primary keys, though the field in table B is set to 'no duplicates' and in table A it's set to 'duplicates allowed', as table A has its own auto number/pk. They are both linked in the relationships.
So, when I add a new record to table A using the main form, I might then need to click on the tab in the sub form to create a new record in table B, which has to be linked to the same record in table A. When the "QuarterOrPealID" auto number/pk is generated in the sub form (table B), I need that value to update to the "QuarterOrPealID" field of the main form (table A), so that when I'm viewing these records the form pulls all the information nicely together.
Sure hoping someone can help me with this. I have a main form with a continuous subform. I am trying to filter the subform "behavior" combo box with another combo box on the subform "learningtype". The subform filter works fine if only the subform is open, although I can't add records because it would require a record in the main form. However, now that I've added the subform to the mainform, when I open it it asks for the parameter value of the filter combo box on the subform. Can someone help me, please...I'm desperate. I'm attaching a sample for you to look at.
I have a Suppliers database which contains a form that will allow me to place orders with Suppliers. The Main form has a combo box that allows me to select the supplier. The combo box is called SupplierID with the following:
Row source: SELECT Suppliers.SupplierID, Suppliers.CompanyName FROM Suppliers ORDER BY Suppliers.CompanyName;
The subform is called Stock Subform witha combo box called ProductID with the following:
Row source: SELECT DISTINCT Products.ProductID, Products.ProductName, Suppliers.CompanyName, Products.Discontinued FROM Suppliers INNER JOIN Products ON Suppliers.SupplierID=Products.SupplierID WHERE (((Products.Discontinued)=0)) ORDER BY Products.ProductName; Event Procedure - AfterUpdate: Private Sub ProductID_AfterUpdate() On Error GoTo Err_ProductID_AfterUpdate Dim strFilter As String ' Evaluate filter before it's passed to DLookup function. strFilter = "ProductID = " & Me!ProductID
[code]..
The Link fields are done on the Purchase Order ID (PONoID).What I want to achieve is to select the supplier from the combo box (SupplierID) on the main form and then the combo box (ProductID) on the subform to filter to only show products directly supplied by the Supplier selected on the Main Form.
I have a suppliers table and a products table. Two forms, Stock form with combobox to list Suppliers and a sub form with combobox that lists Products.I want to select a supplier from the Stock form and then the combobox in the subform to only list products directly sold by the Supplier.Have dabbled in SQL as follows:
SELECT Products.ProductID, Products.ProductName FROM Suppliers INNER JOIN Products ON Suppliers.SupplierID = Products.SupplierID WHERE ((Stocksubform.SupplierID=Stock.SupplierID)) ORDER BY Products.ProductName;
Within my main form I have a combo box called "workgroup." Also in the main form is a subform called "sfrmSubmissionRecords," and within this subform is a combo box called "covermemo."
Each cover memo is assigned to a specific workgroup, so my intention is for each time a new workgroup is selected from the dropdown, the covermemo combo box in the subform becomes populated only with the covermemos associated with that workgroup. I'm almost finished except for the final step when I try to make the values regenerate...Access says that can't find the referenced form "sfrmSubmissionRecords"
This is the code that I'm using:
Private Sub cmbWorkgroup_AfterUpdate() Forms![sfrmSubmissionRecords]![cmbCovermemo].Requery End Sub
I have a main form that has some sub forms on it linked by master child on PK. When I select a new record on the sub forms I want to take a date value from the main form and populate the value into a field in the sub form. How do I do this as I cannot see a new record event on the sub form?
I have a mainform set to data entry to add records to TABLE1. I inserted a subform that shows fields from TABLE2. I have a field in TABLE2, let's say TBL2FLD1(NUMBER). I want to add TBL1FLD2(NUMBER) from TABLE1 in the mainform to TBL2FLD1 and update said field in TABLE2.
My problem is:
(1) I get a #TYPE! error when I try to add the two fields, which I have tried many, many ways (adding them together in the Default Value; creating an unbound field to hold the calculation and then putting that field into the Default Value of TBL2FLD1; ETC), and (2) I don't know how to get the subform to update TABLE2. It seems like the control gets stuck in the subform. Is there a way to accomplish this without coding it?
tblEmployeeAbsences for employee absences tblVacation for employee vacation info
While entering the employees hours I want an adjacent subform to show the matching employees absence and vacation days taken if any.My approach was to use a Cartesian qry for the record source for the subform and link it with a fake key from the main form.
I am currently stuck on set focus property. I have a main from with nested subform. I am trying to move the focus from last field of the subform to another field on the main form.
Now I have a field name [Securedesign] in frmOrderdetails and I want the tab order to navigate to field [CustomerID] in frmAddresses which is a subform to frmCustomers.
I have a music database. It's somewhat over the top in terms of the information stored in it, but I like it. My issue is with getting the total number of tracks, as well as the total duration, for a given album (and for each disc, but if I can solve one that should also solve the other).
I have a lot of tables and forms, but for this problem I only need to deal with two of each. They are the tables for albums, the table for tracks, and their associated forms.
In my album table I have information such as album title, artist, release date, and album length. The tracks table contains information on each song - track title, track number, parent album, and track length.
My main form is for the album itself, and contains a subform for the tracks on said album. They correspond to the relevant tables.
What I want to do is obtain the value of the album length by calculating the sum of the track lengths for that album, and the number of tracks. Easy enough - Sum(TrackLength) and Count(TrackID) respectively, both of which can be stored in the footer of the subform.
My problem is that, rather than simply copying those values into text boxes on the main form, I want to copy them into actual fields in the album table. Furthermore, I want them to update as I add or edit the track lengths in the subform.
I have an entry form with a field(combo box) called cboGetCode. I also have a sub form (continuous form) with number of fields, also an entry form. Now, I have added a code behind the cboGetCode AfterUpdate event to populate the result to relevant fields in the main form.
I have a main form titled "projects" with a subform titled "inventory". They are linked by two fields "project" and "fiscal year" with a one to many relationship. These fields are also the primary keys in the main form. I also have the referential integrity option activated.
Whenever data is entered in the subform inventory, it duplicates the main form and all the other subforms linked to the main form. (I have about 11 other subforms linked to the main form). So if I enter 2 records in the inventory tab, there will be 2 records for the same project and fiscal year in the subform and all the other linked subforms with the same data, so it is almost like it is seeing the inventory subform as the main form. I have tried deleting the duplicate record from the main form, then it deletes the 2nd entry of the subform. I have attached a pdf with a print screen of the 2 duplicate records with the same fiscal year and project name.
I have another form called Notes that has a similar relationship, but doesn't have this problem. I think it might have something to do with the conversion. I originally created the database with Access 97 and we are now using Access 2007. Am I missing something that needs to be done in Access 2007 to link the 2 forms, so I can enter records in the subform without duplications?
Also, the database is split so there is a back end and front end. I have all the tables and relationships set in the back end.
I have form where I will show the details of one table(member details table). In same form I have subform where I can get the member family details (here I am using the relationship table), now my problem is when Member detail form open based on the member id, the below subform data should be fetched...
I have a main form with several linked by ID worksheet sub-forms. I would like to add a on-click function to delete the main form and all related record on each sub-form. I have tried several methods but nothing is working correctly. The cascading delete function is not available as part of the form relationships. How I can accomplish this?
I have a subform embedded in a main form, the subform has a field (text box) that is doing automatic calculation so no manual entries are needed from the user. I have tried to pass automatically the final result to a text box in the main form, but all events are not working (afterupdate, On change, On Dirty), etc.
I have a button to do the above mentioned in the main form, but I don’t want to use that button, I want to do all the process from the subform.
Also, from the subform I was able to do click on the button on the main form (programmatically), however MS Access is too quick and the value extracted from the subform is always empty (zero); Acees is finishing before the calculation is done.
So I am creating a Complaint Tracking Database with Access 2013. In my 'complaint entry form' I have added to ability to "Open" and "Close" the complaint. While the complaint is open the user is able to enter/edit data in the complaint (new or old). When the complaint is "Closed" (done so with a button on the form that prompts the user to enter a date of their choice) the user should not be able to enter/edit data in the given complaint. In my original thinking, I placed checks on various events (on load, after update, on click) that checked to see if the current complaint had a date in the "Close date" field.
If the close date field was null then that meant that the complaint was open and the the controls would NOT be locked. If the close date field was NOT null (i.e. a date was present) then the complaint was closed and the main form fields were locked but the data was still viewable and unless they "re-opened" the complaint they could not change the data.
Now, in the complaint entry form, I have a subform that acts as a action tracker that is used by the user to keep track of the actions taken on the complaint (i.e. they requested documentation from such and such on this date..etc). My problem through all of this is upon closing the complaint and locking the main form controls, my subforms data just vanishes! At first I figured the problem might be with the linking of master and child fields, so I made sure that I left the ID in the main form unlocked when I loop through my controls during the locking process. This did not solve my problem. Code below:
Private Sub Form_Load() Dim ctl As Control If Not IsNull(Me.close_date) Then Me.FormHeader.Visible = True Me.btnClosed.Enabled = False Me.btnOpen.Enabled = True For Each ctl In Me.Controls
1. I have a switchboard. I want to click a button, that opens a form with a dropdown list, when I make my selection, it opens a subform in add mode, but the linked field in the subform isn't empty, but filled with the mainform's field value that I selected?
OR
2. Is there a way for me to open a form in add mode, add data to it, click the add button (I will add an add button) that allows me to add again, but this time a particular field is not empty, but filled with selected info from previous selection?
Say for instance, I have 2 fields (both combo box fields), I click add, made selections for both fields, I click add again, but this time one of the fields stays constant like it's already been selected. It's filled with what was selected from before.
I have a Main form with a sub form. The main form is a customer record (form view), and the sub form is all other customers (same fields) datasheet view.I have a navigation bar to filter (using different queries) the results in the sub form
same postcode Same company (different location) everyone except Main form customer
I cannot get a different filter (Query) to show only customers whose name begins with the same letter as the customer in the main form?I have been trying Like but think I am referencing it wrong, as it prompts me to enter a value rather than using the value in the field in the main form. This is what I have in the query (of the subform)
Customer ID: <>[Forms]![NewAllCustomerListF]![CustomerID] Customer Name: Like "[Forms]![NewAllCustomerListF]![CustomerName]" & "*"
I have a form that request the User to enter a Parcel ID number (99-9a-99-99aaa-aaa-aaaa). The sub form asks for the subdivision number, block number, and lot number. The subdivision number, block number and lot number are normally part of the Parcel ID number but sometimes they can be different. I want the sub form to fill in the Subdivision number, block number, and lot number as a default but allow the user to change the value if needed. currently the sub form will only show what is entered into the table itself if a change is made on the main form the sub form does not reflect the change.
I have a pretty simple form that includes subform. Subform's table is linked to main form's table with parent/child relation. Connecting fields are main table's ID field and corresponding field in child table. Subform is in datasheet view. This is pretty basic stuff so there should not be any problems, but every time I apply a quick filter in main form it causes data in subform become invisible. There is single row in subform, but all it's fields are empty.
In my database main form with subform. subform have query as recordsource.total of one of field in subform shown on main form. all is ok and show total correctly but when subform have no records then total field on main form shows #error. How to convert this value either into null string or zero(0).
I have a subform that has two fields one called 24 months(date field) and one called status(text field), what I am trying to do is after the suborm has been filtered if the date field and is <=date then it will place "expired" into the status text field.
I am currently developing a crude Contact manager database and need a quick way of entering data into a selection of records (around 1000 at a time). At the moment I am manually going through all records and changing the "DateLastEmail" field manually, which can be very tiring.
Any way to assign a button to change the field for all records to today's date or something of the like.
Currently I have a form which filters my subform. The subform resides as a seperate query and when the "Apply Filter" button is pressed it requeries with a change of .filter property, so I guess that all that needs to be done is to change all records that exist within the query, but I am stuck on a way to do this without manually entering it.
