Forms :: Expandable Form Option - Show More Fields
Jul 28, 2014
I have a form that I want to expand to show more fields depending on whether a user decides to or not.
Basically there will be 5 fields that a user always completes for this form, however depending on whether they answer yes or no on the final field I want it to expand the form and have some further fields that need completing.
If they select yes it should expand, if they select no then the form is complete.
Is there any way to control the "show" criteria in a query from option groups... i.e... a check box for someone to say if they want to view items in the query or not? (But not to affect the actualy query data in any way).
Request from the higher ups to have several expandable sections in a form. Ideally only the title of the section would show, like when using a DAP, then the user could click and expand out the section and enter data. I tried the Tab option, but they are set on an expansion section.
I have form that is tied to a query. When I enter criteria that matches what i have in the table, it returns the infromation on another form fine.
However, if there is no data for the criteria I am entering, I get a blank form. Is there anyway to have the fields of the form show even when there is no data?
I have combo boxes set up with the different choices for major, minor, year, etc. Is it possible for these fields to have an autocomplete option? For example, there are about 30 different subjects that students can choose for a major, so rather than having to look for it in the drop down menu, could the person entering the data just start typing "ant" and have it automatically fill with "anthropology" for example?
I should also mention that the reason I made these fields into combo boxes is because I built SQL in the row source so that it is bound to the primary key but displays the description instead (with the column widths set to 0; 1).
I have a form with option group (two option buttons) and date fields (to select a date range). The form should pull/pass parameters from the query. There's a form button that generates a report based on the query.
Issue: I can't figure it out how to link option buttons and date range to the query so when the button is clicked it generates the report with chosen criteria. The form is for the user to enter parameters.
how can I get dates to show in last updated and last viewed fields..I did get last updated working but for some reason when I tried to do last viewed, last updated vanished :/
I did try writing code (but im a novice lol, I think that's why last updated vanished).I have got 2 unbound fields called HiddenLastViewed and HiddenLastUpdated thought I might need them.
I have a form that is just a display/edit type form and I don't want a blank "new" report to show at the bottom when it is opened up. Is there any way to turn this off or disable it?
How to create a Web Form and include an option group (5 or 6 radio or check boxes)? I really need the page to layout all of the options (not in a drop down). This will allow users compare answers on the fly looking at the form.
i'm a begginer at access, so please excuse me if this question is very basic. i have a multiple table select query which shows me which user has which piece of a equipment at that given time. I also have a form that logs any problems the users have with the equipment, what i want that form to do is show the results of the query based on inputting the users name. ie put the serial number and model number into the relevent fileds on the form. I can get the form to run the query but that just shows it in the query window, i need it to show on the correct feilds on the form.
Hope that makes sense and that somebody can help me.
I'm intending to make two extra fields open up if a particular value is selected. Just as a simple example:
Field: Type of Item Possible Values: Alcohol, Beverage, Cutlery
So if either a beverage or alcohol is selected, I would like a new field to open up. For both Alcohol and Beverage, I would like "Content of bottle in mLs" to open up. For Alcohol, I would also like "Percentage Alcohol content" to also open up.
So basically, if a specific value is selected, I would like extra fields to come up. I'm not sure if there's any simple way to do it, or whether it requires VBA coding, but either way if it is possible I would like it to be done.
1) How do you make an input mask enter from right to left? For example, if post codes can either be 4 or 5 digits long, I put 90000 (requiring at LEAST 4 digits) but if you start entering data, it starts from the 9. Would it work if I did 00009? 2) Is there any way to make a form go through a progression of screens rather than all the input fields being on the one page?
I am doing a worksheet for college and have been asked to create option groups on a form, but I cannot work out how to do this.
The screenshot shows what I have to do but I cannot get the option group wizard to open.
When creating my form based on the design in the screenshot I dragged the Rate field onto the design view sheet but it has only one option button connected to it, I need to add another one that will be connected to the same field and am not sure how to do it. I did try adding another option button from the control bar but I am not sure if is connected to the same field with the correct yes/no properties.
I want to create form with 10 checkbox, each checkbox is linked to a field "name, Address, TelephoneNumber, BuissinessName" I would like to know if it is possible for the user to check the box and then the field will show in query. if only name is check then only name will show in the query.
I have tried using [Forms]![Formname]![CheckboxName] as criteria but this didn't work it when I had more then one checkbox and when the one check box was not checked nothing showed in the forms.
I have a query that i need to run from a form. From form I need to pass criteria
1 for canada 2 for us 1 and 2 for us and Canada
The criteria needs to go into field Pricing Type. If user selects 1 then only Pricing Type 1 will display. If user selects 2 than only Pricing Type 2 should display. I user selects both , Pricing Type 1 and 2 should be listed.
I have two tables called "tblFundingBodies" and "tblGrants". I have a form that allows me to view all the records for each of the funding bodies. By this I mean, it shows information on a funding body but to see information on the next funding body, I must click on the next record button. Just wanted to clarify that it isn't in the form of a table.
This form also has a subform in the same format that shows each of the grants that funding body has provided. When I select the next record from the main form, it will show me the grants from the company in the next record. The field that has the funding body is a text box.
I want to be able to add a seach facility to the main form that allows me to search for a funding body and get back exactly what I have described above, but just the details on that funding body/grants. In other words, I want the form view of the funding body I search for with the sub form of the grants from that funding body, not in the form of a table where you can see them all at once, I want to be able to click through each grant in the sub form.
i have a standard database with tblProducts, order, employees, customers, suppliers etc. i also have a table called tblperson with personID which acts as a one, with the many in three different tables (customers, suppliers and employee) the person table holds data such as first name last name address city postcode and phone. now, ive created a form called frmPerson that acts as a adding data to my database. ive got a load of buttons a working add, delete and a save button, i also have the option to switch through records next, last, end and first. now basically in this form i want to be able to add data i.e. fill out the text boxes and then have a combo box or something similiar that when i add the data i can basically click an option the says 'employee' 'supplier' or 'customer' and then the data gets added to my person table however the difference is that it will also be associated to the record in the wanted table.
I have a simple data entry form with drop down facilities on 2 fields. One of these fields incorporates a drop down list from a table but there are occasions when I wish to make a free text entry for the single record, but do not wish to add it to the drop down list.
I have tried to achieve this with a Combo Box but without success, although I am sure that I have read that it is possible.
I have a form and a subform in MS Access 2003. I have made some changes to database structure, so I decided to change the subform also. When I changed the Link child and link master fields, the controls of the subdatasheet dissapear- they show only in design view. If I clear the contents of Link child and link master fields they appear again, but the records are not binded. Is there a setting on the parent form that also has to be changed, to make the new binding?
I have several comboboxes in my database from which users select values. However, in most cases, I do want to give them the option to add an item that does not appear while simultaneously updating the underlying table which stores those dropdown values. I have made use of the builtin "allow edit list items" feature of Access 2007 but the form always opens on the first record of the form on which they are to add the new item. Is there a way to specify that it should open in Data Entry view apart from using VBA?
I stumbled upon the Option Group function just yesterday and, happy as a clam, I created a group with 2 options in radio button style. I assigned the values to a field called Registration_Type as the 2 options are "Confirmed Registrants" and "Prospective Attendees".
[Great. That part works well. When I look at the table, a 1 or a 2 is in that field so it's great to know how to control accidental ticking of radio buttons (previous 450 records or so didn't have this option group functionality so one might easily tick one of the buttons. So one part of controlling option group I know I can handle via the table itself for now.]
The challenge is how to ensure the user always ticks one or the other ... I went back to the main table and tested the 'required entry' option for the Registration_Type field but forcing an action like this is not ideal in my mind. The usual error message vagueness for the average user is no good and I don't want to limit the user so much.
Is there a way to simply have a popup come up warning that neither radio button was ticked? Perhaps something linked to the form - i.e., maybe "after update"?? I only learned about attaching code to before and after update on controls a couple of days ago, so not sure if this would be best approach.
Just something to let the user know that nothing has been ticked in the option group as that controls in which of 2 reports the data will show up in so any record not ticked might mean a registrant being left out, which would be rather disastrous <g>.
I want to use an option group with a seperate check box for yes and no for a series of yes/no fields. I find that when I do this, once a record is started all have these items have "no" checked. I tried defaulting the value to null and other such things, but to no avail.
I have a totalquery that runs fine and give me the sum for both fields I'm looking for but I can't get the outputs to fill the fields on the form. I have tried the Dcount query in the control source but that just returns an error and locks up access.
Code: SELECT [Tble-wcDelays].Causedby, Sum([Tble-wcDelays].HoursDelay) AS SumOfHoursDelay FROM [Tble-wcDelays] GROUP BY [Tble-wcDelays].Causedby, [Tble-wcDelays].LinkingID HAVING ((([Tble-wcDelays].LinkingID)=[Forms]![Frm-ePlusCent]![cleanID]));
I am trying to add the name of the employee show up in on the opening form after logging into the database. I am able to get the user right (Admin only), but not the name. In the Default Value in Properties, I have it set to =CurrentUser() and I have the Employee field in the Control Source to record current user.
How can I make this so it indicate the user logged in?
Once I enter records in my form and move to a new record, they won't show up in the form. For some reason there are a few records showing in the form but not all. Unsure what has happened or what I need to do to get the records showing.
If I open a the form called frmhome, I can enter information search on hours completed and even enter new towns. The table that the information gets entered into is called Crisis_support_workers. If you open this table, you will see a lot of information that has been entered. However, if you open the form that is meant to put info into that table, there is only 7 records and most of them are blank records. The form where info is entered is called Crisis_support_workers v3.
