I have a form that contains a blank text box for each field in a record. Until very recently it functioned correctly for years. Lately data enterers tried to fill a ten character field with five characters (ANNNN format, example X9999). Some records require an entry in this text box, some do not, so their field is left blank. Lately when a new entry is tried in this field, only the first three characters are accepted, blocking character four through ten from being entered. It acts as if the text length for this text box has been changed to three characters, but it is still the correct length in the Properties box.
The system keeps track of clients who have attended a nutrition education class and the form involved is the location the class was taught.
Hi. I have a main table (with other tables related to it). It has the 255 max number of fields. (I know... But bear with me.)
ANyway, I need to change some field's size to smaller sizes. But if I try to change them, even 1 at a time, I get the cannot do because I have too many fields defined.
My training table consist of 3 fields and using unbound form
1st field custid (text field)
This can't be NIL or Can't duplicate
What I am looking for learning point of view (duel check at same field with different behaviour). If record is duplicate "Popup message" and curser move back to same field. If field is empty "popup message" Do you want to continue, If yes, move back to field if NO, close form..Therefore, on Before Update event I wrote the following.
Private sub txtcid_beforeupdate (cancel as Integer) If Dcount("[custid]", "[customerdetails]", "[custid]='" & me.txtcid & "'") > 0 Then MsgBox "Customer ID already Exists !!!!" Cancel = True Me.Txtcid.Undo
[code]....
Just a quick update "I tried to used YES or NO option in Exit event too, but no success.
Will keeping your field size shorter result in a smaller MDB file?
Or does Access only use as much space as there is real data in its fields.
Way back in the dBASE III days, dBASE would pad all your "real" information with as many spaces as necessary to fill up your field. I suspect that the MDB structure is probably smarter than that.
Another question on the same topic - I believe there is a maximum number of characters in a record (4000?). Can your field sizes add up to more than 4000, as long as the actual data, all combined, never totals 4000...? Thanks............ ..dc
I have a subform that shows notes entered but if there is more text in the field then you cant see it all. Can I make it so that this field will grow so the whole input is visible or can I make it so when you click on it it opens in a larger window showing all the txt?
I am relatively new to using MS Access 2010. Some fields which i have set up as Memo fields to take report comments. Is there anyway to make the size of the memo field box variable to fit in with the text in the form when viewing in htis mode?
I have a form to input data into a table1. On the form I have a combo box to read from a next table exchange rate to input into the table1. Field in Tablet for the exchange rate is set to Field size double, Format currency, and decimals 6.
I am unable to set the field size on the form to read the 6 decimals. The combo box is set to Currency decimal 6. I tried General Number and it still only shows only one decimal.
Good afternoon. I am brand new to posting on this forum but I have been using this forum for help since I started my new job and I would like to start off with thanking you all for that. :)
Now onto my problem: I am currently trying to create a form in Access 2003 that can be easily read and seen because it will eventually be used as a touch screen interface. I have several text boxes on this form that simply display a counter's value that is updated by a neighboring updown control. The text displayed within the textbox is just the value of the updown control. This updown control is more specifically a Microsoft UpDown Control ver. 6.0 (SP4). Due to this interface ultimately being used as a touch screen, each and every button needs to be large enough so fingers can easily touch only one button at a time.
My problem is that I do not know how to change the size of the actual Up/Down buttons on this updown control. I can alter the height, yet I can not alter the width of these vertically oriented buttons. If anyone knows how to correct this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. The sites I looked through that deal with Visual Basic reference do not deal with resizing the updown buttons, but with other properties of the updown controls. Thank you for your time and assistance.
I have windows 7 access 2013, I had a query made, and wanted to add fields to it, so i went into the SQL and added several fields. Only the first one i entered didn't work and on the query is called "Expr1003" when in datasheet view. Its right in layout view, and even when i tried adding the same field in layout view, it made it "Expr1004". spelling is correct, in both source table and query, i don't know why this field doesn't work especially when the others did.
I want to use to count how many times a record is displayed in the period and lesson field, in another table, so that this data can be used to show how many people are attending a class. e.g how many times people are attending art 1, by counting how many times art one appeared in the first table.
I'm running MS Access 2003. My SQL editing window has a really small font size. How do I change this window's default font size? Is it in tools or options?
Help!!!!!!! I'm going blind!!!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being willing to help out!!
I hope I can explain this clearly. I have a subform that has a lot of information and I was wondering if there is a way to make the subform appear as if one turned up the resolution, thus making it's contents smaller, allowing me to pack more info in it. I would love to leave the size of the main form alone. I'm using Access 2000. The sub form is currently displayed as datasheet.
I'm working with a table of bird survival data I am trying to summarize in a query. I've got a bit of a roundabout way to achieve my goal, but I'm curious if there is a simpler approach.
Background : In my table, each row represents a day I check a given nest and includes a [Nest ID] (not unique, multiple visits to each nest), a [visit ID] (auto numbered, so it's a unique value for each visit at each nest), the calendar day I visited a nest [Date], and [Survive] (1 or 0) depending on whether a nest survived or failed.
I'm trying to convert this detailed table into one that is more concise. Instead of each visit to a nest being a row, each nest becomes a row with 4 fields: The Nest ID, the minimum date (the day I found a nest), the last day a nest was checked (Max[Date]), and the last day a nest was checked alive (essentially max date where survival=1).
My current solution is to run 3 separate queries. The first queries the max date where survival=1, the second queries the max and min dates regardless of any other criteria, and the third brings both queries together.
I am curious if there is a way to create the same final product in a single query rather than doing multiple ones as I have done?
How to count the number of times that the data appears in a certain field (which is [Ema!l]). I have a list of ema!l addresses and I want to find out whether that ema!l address has appeared once, twice or more. I want to add this as a field in a query. I don't want to delete it or anything because it's perfectly fine for the ema!l address to appear more than once, I just want to be able to identify when the ema!l address has already appeared.
If I was using Excel I would use a Countif function to count how many times the data in the specified cell appears in the whole column, and that would give me the number. I'm not use to the language of Access so I can't figure out how to achieve this.
I tried adding a Total row to the grid in the query and then changing the total to 'count' but this just returned 1 for every row.
I have a calculated control on a form that is summing other controls and then a subtotal on a subform. This is access 2007
The calculated control does not display the value until I enter a value other then the default in all of the source controls. If I hit the "refresh" button, the value appears in the calculated control for a moment, then disappears.
I have set the default of the source controls to be 0, so none are null.
the calc control value does not stay until I put a value in the subform and its subtotal thus has a value
I have a form called frmElements which has its Data Entry and Allow Additions properties set to 'No' so that only existing records can be edited, this is all good and works fine when used from the Navigation Pane.
I have created a macro which opens this form from a button on the ribbon, this is where the problem lies because it opens the form and allows new records to be added, I know this because there is an empty record with an '*' at the bottom of the form. If I change to design mode the Data Entry and Allow Additions properties are still set to 'No', when I then change back to form view the form functions as it should.
It does not seem possible to set form properties using the macro builder and it appears to override the forms property settings.
I have a form for updating contact details of customers/suppliers. Upon clicking an edit button the user can update txt boxes (as opposed to updating the table data directly and making a mistake). When they press save the below code runs:
Code: If Not IsNull(Me.txtp_fname.Value) Then Dim strFirstName As String strFirstName = Me.txtp_fname Dim FirstName As String FirstName = Replace(strFirstName, "'", "''") End If
On a data entry form bound to a single table, there is a subform displaying all the records in the source table. If the user accidentally adds a record that they didn't mean to add (or if I add a record to test the form's functionality), and then right-click and delete the record, "#Deleted" appears in all the input controls.
Can you have a form that will make a cosmetic change base on the value of a field?
So I have a Member's Detail form and I would like the form to look a little different (say header background a different color) based on the member type. Is this possible?
In the database, there is a table called "Jobs" which sales enquiries are entered into. In this table, there are fields called "JobStatus" which has the default text of "Quotation Pending" and a combo box "JobLive" which is a "yes/no" field. Normally a job will come in as quotation request and the "JobsLive" field will be set to "no".
Occasionally, a job will come in as confirmed from the outset. In this case, the job will be marked as "live" in the combo box "JobLive". Is it possible to change the "JobStatus" field to "Job Live" when this combo box is changed to "yes"?At any other stage, the "JobStatus" field will be changed using an update query as and when changes are made.
I am working on a school database, today I am working for fee collection form and I am facing trouble. In attachment At the top right area the hidden field I would like here changes according to selecting Fee Type under Fee Detail. I want to achieve this,
If feetype is ABF then Hidden field = 1500110 If feetype is ASF then Hidden field = 1500120 If feetype is EXF then Hidden field = 1500130 If feetype is MTF then Hidden field = 1500140 If feetype is RBF then Hidden field = 1500150
How I can perform this ?
Table structure is (tblstudents) Contain students data (tblFee) Contain, Student Id linked with student table, month, year, amount, date, narratives and FeeType that looup values from FeeType tbl, this hidden field also in tbl fee.
The codes that are 1500100,1500120,1500130
These are necessary for GL entries that's why I must have it on my form. I had as well apply method of Default value but in that case I only present only a single value, but I want that in hidden field values take changes according to the fee type.
