I have created a database to track our contacts for the office. I spent some time working on the relationships and making sure everything was normalized, as I've only just recently understood that concept. However, I'm afraid something got messed up in the process and I may have missed a step or done something wrong when creating the relationships.
Basically, I just created the form with all of my fields in it and when I try to view the form I see that no fields display (it's just a blank white screen). I wondered if I should actually be creating the form based off tblcontact, and then add subforms for each of the other tables.
See my attached database for further reference ...
I have a Form which I have linked correctly to a subform. The Text boxes are showing in the Design view but are not when one switches to the Form View. Labels for Fields are visible in the Form View. Have even created a new subform and that will also not display the Text Boxes.
Have created a form to display/change table info in Datasheet View and added the form to a switchboard. When selected from switchboard, it displays a single record. When executed from the Forms (objects), it displays in Datasheet view.? How can I get it to display in Datasheet View from Switchboard?
I prepared students details in access, but when i look the form view students particulars looks automatically (like name, age, weight and address). But what i need is students details has to come after I enter the name.
After reading many of the posts here, I decided that one of the problems with the tables in the db I was working on was in the primary keys. I had used the same field name as the primary key in all of my tables. This was RecipID, which was a user entered textbox with an example in a label beside it showing the format to use.
After reading stuff here, I decided this wasn't a good idea. So I changed RecipId to be an autonumber in the parent table (Household_Info) and a long integer foreign key in the children. Also, I added some fields to the parent table to identify the head of household (lastname, firstname)
I already had a continuous form made with a subform and a pop-up form associated with it based on my previous tables. Reran the query underlying the form, and the new fields showed up in the field list box for the form. The fields are all still present in design view, but I get a totally blank form in form view. I checked the forms recordsource and made sure that it was set to the new query.
Can anyone give me an idea about what I'm overlooking? Do I have to recreate the form?
(Sorry if this is a repeat of a question someone has already addressed, but I couldn't turn up any relevant threads after several hours of searching.)
How can I control the display of fields in a form? I see in a given database, that in the design view that some fields exist in a form but in the form-view some of them are not displayed.
I can't find how it was done, i see no difference in the fields' properties. Another question is how can i make a comboBox to display just the text without the ID number...
i have a main form named(EMP) i have a subform named(SEMP)with EMPID i have an another form Named(SDetail) with EMPID i want to open form Sdetail with filter records for data select in subform (SEMP) ,EMPID field Subform SEMP in as datasheet view. i can open sdetail for selected records only
I would like to only display certain fields on a form depending on a criteria in another cell. For example if some enters 4 in 'Schemes' it would display 4 data entry boxes scheme1, scheme2, scheme3 etc - is it possible?
My forms work well, but in form view are widely separated from the user tool bar. That is, the form is in the upper top left corner of the screen and the tool bar for choosing records is in the left hand corner at the bottom of the screen. I cannot get the tool bar in a position near the bottom of the form where it would be easier to work with.
I want to display the linked image in form view. 'ole object' has the property 'display type' as content or icon. but both settings shows only the icon and file name. 'attachment' field does show image in form view but attaching images (jpeg or png) will increase database size.
Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?
I am creating a dentist booking system and i need some way to display appointments today for a certain dentist and then from their to click the customer and view their teeth details that the dentist will use to update...
I have 4 tables and around 440 records but can only view up to 417 in the form I have designed. I have been adding new records via form and it has been added to my main table, but when i try to view it in form view - the record is not available to view. What do I need to do to correct this problem?
I have checked that there are no filters, data entry is set to No, Auto deletions, additions and edits are set to yes.
Also to mention it seems that the problem has arisen since I set up some new queries, there is a one to one relationship between the tables!
I also posted this in the report section, but it doesen't seem like the readers over there have any answers. I'm hoping maybe query people will. I'm working on someone elses database, and I'm not too familiar with access.
He's got this form called Customer_Select, and when you click on a check box for a customer, it's option value is recorded in a field called Product, which then corresponds to the product/customer id located in a table called CustomerCharacteristics.
The problem is that I just realized that this Product field existed. When I view the form as a datasheet, I see the fields: Product, Lot_Nr, Version:, and Last Update: However, when i look at the field list for the same form in Design view, I get: DateTime, VersionDisplay, and Description.
Does anyone know what's going on here? I need to reference the Product field in a query I'm modifying, but the expression builder can only 'see' the fields that are visible in design view.
ive got a form with a number of different fields and labels and a number of boxes which help keep like fields together visually.
The problem i have is that if i click on the box when viewing it the fields dissapear behind the box despite me setting the box to the back of the form.
Anyone know what is happening? is there anyway to lock the items in place?
I got a form called "Make quote". In this form a user can select a product from a line of fields. This "line" contains: article code, product, price and quantity the customer requests.
Each single quote can contain a very different amount of products. Some quotes just have 1 product, other quotes have 25 products.
I'm looking for a way to let the user add as many "lines" as necessary for the quote. BUT I don't want him to need to go into design view.
I'm thinking of maybe adding a button to the form which does this, but I'm not sure how.
I have a from which asks for a date, then displays the records from a table that match that date. On that form, I can make changes. Then I hit a recalculate button which has an EVENT which attempts to manipulate those field names from the table, BUT those field names in a debug.print are coming up blank. How do I get the values from the form/Table to be available to the Event? Probably simple, I'm just not sure how.
In the Lesson tutorial shown above I am clicking on tools and adding existing fields. I get a lot of output label and text box pairs for each field that I add.
However, they are all on right below the other. That is no problem just move them. No way.
Whenever, I move it a label and test box for say Order Status, I get ... nothing. It stays where it is.
They (label and text box) do not move together. So how do I get them to move together.
I'm making a database for HR. I have an entire form of all the fields from one table. But I made another table for credentials because one employee could have more than one.
Now, the form: Sample.jpg
I want to display the credentials fields on one of the tabs. I want it to look like a datasheet (datasheet view). But I don't know how to link it to the current employee ID. I've already set the relationships for the t_Employee and t_EmployeeCredential. I've already tried making a subform. But it just doesn't automatically reflect. I'm not sure if I'm making sense. I can't really explain it.
Best way to display "notes: field that gets updated/added to multiple times, in a form. (Access 2007)
I've got a DB to track information about product changes. Each month we have a meeting and discuss problem products. I'm concerned with a notes/comments section. Currently it is a memo field in the source table that can be added to, so the notes are cumulative. But we want to auto-add a date to each new entry (in case the person inputting the data forgets, and so that notes can be sorted by order on a report).
There may be many comments on a certain product or there may be none. Sometimes the note may be very long, other notes on the same product may be very short. I created a new table with a one-to-many relationship to case ID (to link it to the main form), auto-populate a date field, and field for notes in order to link multiple notes to each case (and of course an autonumber PK).
I can put the subform in the original form, but then the note field will be the same size for every note, though notes are not all uniform in size/length, and it ends up taking up a LOT of room on the main form. So I created a button to click to open the subform, but it brings up all records for all cases, not just the currently selected case. Again, have the problem of one uniform field size for all notes, regardless of size/length.
Then I considered a report to view past history (field size can shrink or grow as needed) then a button on the report that opens a form for data entry/entry of new note. But again the report displays all records for all cases, not just the currently selected case.
There must be an easy answer to this! I have searched the forums but have not found what I need to make this work the way I want it to. I have a three part reference field. The records in the form are supposed to be sorted into ascending order Field1 first, then Field2 and finally Field3. The forms RecordSource is a query that brings through the relevant fields from my table. I have the query sorted according to these three fields so that every time I open the database it sorts the way I want it to. What I want to do is have a button that will sort the records into the correct order when the buttion is clicked. I am sure this can be done, but cannot get it to work on more than one field at a time! Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciatted.
Is it possible to have a count of all records matching a certain criteria displayed on the form?
I have to schedule customers for certain dates but never know how many have been scheduled by date while in the form. I am not sure how to reference the field from the table to be counted. I have several unbound boxes with:
=date()&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date() =date()+1&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+1 =date()+2&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+2 etc.
not sure what to use for {XXXX}
As always, any help is appreciated.....
Someday I will contribute some answers instead of questions.....
