Let's assume we have 3 tables:
Order_Category (Order_Category_ID, Order_Type_Name) with 2 records:
1, Minor
2, Major
Order_Type (Order_Category_ID, Order_Type) with 4 records:
1, Book
1, Pencil
2, Car
2, House
Orders (Order_Category_ID, Order_Type, value) with 2 records:
1, NULL, NULL
1, NULL, NULL
2, NULL, NULL
I want to create a Multiple Items form presenting Orders table with two Combo Boxes:
1. A combo box to select Order_Category_ID.
2. A combo box to select Order_Type. When 1 (Minor) is chosen in the first combo box it should show Book and Pencil, when 2 (Major) is chosen it should show Car and House.
Examples in the Internet show how to do it on a 'single row' forms using the RowSource property. I tried to use a query like:
SELECT Order_Type
FROM Order_Type
INNER JOIN Orders ON Order_Type.Order_Category_ID = Orders.Order_Category_ID
WHERE Order_Category_ID = [comboBoxOrderCategoryID]
But it sets same values for all records in the Multiple Items form and it should return different values in each rows based on value in the first combo box (Order_Category_ID).

I'm using a datasheet that can be filtered for certain fields. I have a macro that opens a form to the record that was selected (aka "current") in the datasheet. It filters this opened form to "1 of 1" which makes sense. How would I go about filtering that form for all of the records left (after filtering) in the datasheet?
I hate macros, but I'm doing client-specific work. The primary key is a field (autonumber) called "ListingNumber".

I have this database with the purpose to storage all the tasks that are done in my team. I have a table named Tasks with all their fields. Now, I would like to set a more user friendly way for clients to update this table. I have created another table with a list of most common tasks, so when a client wants to add their tasks list they can choose one of this tasks and add it to the list. I had created a form with multiple items that contains the common tasks and next to each task a button that adds the information they choose into the table "Tasks". This works just fine. However, I would like to add a single button at the top to add all the tasks instead of having to choose one after one.
The "Add All tasks" button has this code:
Private Sub Command79_Click()
Dim valSelect As Variant, MyDB As DAO.Database, MyRS As DAO.Recordset
Set MyDB = CurrentDb()
Set MyRS = MyDB.OpenRecordset("Tasks", dbOpenDynaset)
[Code] ....

I wish to change the backcolor of a field on a current record being dispalyed in a 'multiple items' form. However when using me.A.backcolor = makes refrence to all fields called A on the 'multiple items' form and therefore all fields change colour not just the current record.

I have a header/detail form working well. I use a Dsum to update a TOTAL field in the header - based on all the detail records for that Header.
However, I want to 'filter' or condition the records which the form will initially display from the Header file. I have a conditioning field (Invoice date) in the header which should 'block' it from display on the form. I may also desire to SORT the selected Headers record into a different sequence before display...
Looks like any "filtering" I try on the header table makes it difficult to go back and update the TOTAL in the Header?

I am using Access 2013, I have a recipe project with multiple one-to-many relationships. The main table in all of them is RECIPE. Child tables are HOLIDAY, SPEC_NEED, COURSE... each one of these child tables are comprised of multiple checkbox columns (yes or no)...
I need to filter the RECIPE records based on the selected checkboxes in these child tables..so for example if COURSE.Appetizer is checked and HOLIDAY.Christmas is checked RECIPE will produce the appropriate records. How to pull this one off...I am currently using the Options Group design tool and have used a separate Options Group design for each of the child tables...

I have a form with a listbox in which users should be able to move the items up and down. The listbox has 4 columns and multiple selection is enabled.
For a NON multiselect box I have it working, and also for a multiple selection box but in that case it works only for one row at a time.
For a NON multiselect listbox:
Code:
cmdDown_Click()
Dim i As Integer
Dim t1 As String, t2 As String, t3 As String, t4 As String
i = selectie.ListIndex
t1 = Nz(selectie.Column(0, i))
t2 = Nz(selectie.Column(1, i))
[Code] ....
You can select an item and then press "Down" as many times as you want to put the items as "down" in the list as you want it to be.
Multiselect listbox
This code also works for a multipleselection listbox when one item is selected, however, after you press "down" the item is still selected (highlighted) as the code reselects is (last line) BUT the value of selectie.listindex apparently is set to "-1".
Pressing "Down" again generates an error (i = -1). I can evade the error by adding "if selectie.listindex <=0 then exit sub", but that doens't fix the problem that the only way I can manage to reset the listindex to the new "position" of the item is to click on it again and THEN press "Down".
To fix this and be able to press "down" multiple times listindex should be set to the new value.
Adding a "me.selectie.listindex = i -1" doens't work (error), it seems like this value is readonly.
I can't find a way to "simulate" a mousepressed selection and really set the listindex.
The other problem is of course that this code doens't support moving multiple items at once: listindex points to the last selected item, but only one.
So, I tried another piece of code to move multiple items, not using listindex (since that resets to -1), but I run into another problem
Code:
Private Sub cmdDown_Click()
Dim var As Variant
Dim i As Integer
Dim n As Integer
Dim t1 As String, t2 As String, t3 As String, t4 As String
n = Me.selectie.ItemsSelected.Count
[Code] ....
The problem with this is: I can select multiple items and press "Down", but the problem now is that the selection is lost as soon as the code removes the first item, and the 2nd loop skips the if selected(i) = true (nothing is selected anymore).
The me.selectie.selected(i+1) = true doens't work since that would only reselect the first item after moving it.
The code "forgets" which items were selected and moves only one item...So I guess I need to put the indexnumbers in memory while moving the items.
I have been searching a lot, but can only find VB-solutions. In VB it's a lot simpeler using f.e. the .list property of a listbox, which is not available in MSAccess
The solution I'm thinking about is:
- set an array with the numbers of selected items
- put indexnumbers of the selected items in the array (f.e. 3 and 4)
- move items based on the indexnumers in the array
- when moving an item update the indexnumber in the array (3>4, 4>5)
- after moving all items reset the selection based on the array
It occurred to me then if I'm going to use an array anyway, I might as well load all items in an array, do the "resorting" and the reload the items in the list from the array. Might be more straightforward?
Btw...It seems VB has a simple solution to moving items: listbox.list(i) = listbox.list(i+1) or something like that moves an item. Even Excel seems to have this property but not MS Access!

Need some help here....
I am designing a database to keep track of workers for a haunted house. I have a Roster table, a table of all the nights we are open, a table of Spots in the house, and a table to record who works what nights and what spot they are in. This table has a Room combo box and a Spot combo box. The Room combo has a Row Source of SELECT DISTINCT SpotsAll.Room FROM SpotsAll ORDER BY SpotsAll.Room; The Spot combo is then populated with VB code all the Spots that are in that room. That works fine. This is what I'm trying to accomplish: When a Spot is assigned to a Worker for that night, I want that spot to no longer be available in that list FOR THAT PARTICULAR NIGHT. So, lets say Joe Somebody works in Spot 1 (out of 4 lets say) of the Library Room, when we assign another person to the Library room, I don't want Spot 1 in the Spot list.
Can this be done with a query or VB code? If I'm not making sense, please let me know. I can also upload the Database I am creating so that you can play around with it and see what I mean.
(I have attached a word doc. that shows the table relationships.)
Thanks a lot ahead of time!!

I have what should be a really simple database to build. In table tbl1PlanHdr is the header item. Many items in tbl2MaintItem will then be allocated to each header. MaintItems items will be allocated to more than one Header.
I want to set up a form that has the tbl1PlanHdr as the main part of the form and tbl2MaintItem as the subform. Possibly as a datasheet, or continuous form.
I need the ability to update items in the subform back to the orginal table.
I have a relationship of one to many from the tbl1PlanHdr to tbl2MaintItem using the primary key in tbl1PlanHdr.
But should this be a one to many from tbl2MaintItem to tbl1PlanHdr
The end result required is to be able to get a data dump of all the tbl1PlanHdr items with the corresponding tbl2MaintItems items.

I have a form for timesheet entry that has 2 subforms.
The main form has a combo box for selecting staff name and another for WkEnding date. The form is based on table "SELECT StaffRef, WkEnding, Status FROM tTimesheets".
SubForm sfTimesheets is based on table tTimesheets. The subform is linked by StaffRef and WkEnding. (This has been working for ages.)
Recently added second subform sfOnCall based on table tOnCall. The subform is also linked by StaffRef and WkEnding.
If the user has a timesheet entry for the date, then sfOnCall displays and operates ok. But if there is no entry in the timesheet table, the sfOnCall form doesn't show the appropriate entry from the OnCall table.

I did try basing the main form on a UNION of the 2 tables, but whilst the query showed the correct data when I ran it - all the controls on the form disappeared!

How can I make it search multiple fields at once? I feel like you can just use the "Or" operator, but where do I put it?
Private Sub Command82_Click()
Me.Filter = "TASK_NUMBER Like '" & "*" & Me.Text80 & "*'"

I want to create a form in MS access for General Journal input for an accounting software. Problem is that my client required a form in which he can input as many Debits and/or credits as he likes, for one transaction on one form. For example it may be 2 debits and 4 Credits in one transaction. Its a simple one table entry with fields; TrNo (Transaction Number), Date, Type (Debit or Credit), Amount, and Narration (for details of transaction). Out of these field TrNo, Date & Narration will be same for all debits & credits in one transaction.

Basically I have a table where freelancers have multiple records for each module they teach. What I am trying to do is show all records for each person onto the same form, but anything I have followed still only brings up the first record.
This information is all on the same table, so would this be easier to be on separate tables to then create relationships?

I am attempting to setup a database and need setting up a form that captures/enters multiple records from one form.
We have batches of case files consisting of 25 folders each. I would like to setup the form where the user only has to enter the [User], [FileGroupID], [Examiner] and [DateAssigned] just once, but also allow for the individual 25 case file numbers in that batch to be entered. (See attached image)
So far I have created 2 tables; BatchLog table which would capture the batch details that is entered once and a CaseFiles table which would capture the individual case file numbers.

I've developing a QA/QC database for testing chemical products and I'm stuck on the best way to continue with adding multiple records by using one form.
I have two tables:
tblProductSpecs with two primary keys, "ProductName" and "TestName"
tblResults with three primary keys, "ProductName", "TestName", and "LotNumber" and a number field named "Value"
A product can have multiple tests associated with it, e.g:
ProductName - TestName
XXX - Density, pH
ZZZ - Density
YYY - % soluble, cloud point , freeze point
This is my tblProductSpecs table
I want to store the "Value" of each "TestName" of the "LotNumber" of that "ProductName" in tblResults by a form. (All TestName values are number values).
I want a form where I can select "ProductName" and have the "TestName"s displayed for that "ProductName". Then I want to store the value of that "TestName" for that "ProductName" and "LotNumber" in tblResults.
The problem is that each test per product per lot number is a record and I can't figure out a way to create multiple records from one form.

I have an unbound new contact data entry form that adds records to many different tables. I have no problems adding one record to a child table at a time, but one of the things we are collecting is a list of online networks a person belongs to, and I want to be able to stick a "check all that apply box" on my form and have it add multiple records to the child table. Here's the basic set up, I have a parent table with the main contact information with a primary key field "IID", a lookup table with "Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter..." etc in it with a primary key field "online_id", and a bridge table to link the two which should have multiple entries for IID, one for each online_id. I want to use a listbox (or something like it) that the user can select multiple online networks and then have records added to the bridge table. I can figure out how to add the listbox on the form, what I can't figure out is how to get the values out of the listbox. T
