I have created a web-database (? - There are globes over all the forms and tables icons) based on the Issues & Tasks template. This means that most of the data is entered and seen on the "Main" form, which has two tabs - Open Issues and Closed Issues. I have created a form that allows people at my work to input the necessary data and save it, so that it will show up on one of the two tabs. However, once a record has been created, I want to be initially locked if the ID/PK is clicked, so that data can't be changed or entered inadvertently.
SO, I changed the code so that when the ID/PK for a record is clicked, it brings up a different form, but one that looks exactly like the one that is brought up when entering a new form, but I locked all of the fields so that the information cannot be changed. It seems from what I have read that I can create a button on this form so that when clicked, it unlocks the fields on the form so that they can be changed, and then when clicked again it will lock the fields again. Is this true? If so, how can I do it? Or is there something similar I can do? I have seen codes that I could copy and paste, but I cannot figure out the place to copy and paste codes in Access 2010.
I have changed the Form properties so that Data Entry and all the "Allows" are set to No...
I would like to create a form that allows me to search for a folder on my desk top, then once located i can transfer that file to a specific location on another drive, Similar to the Browse / upload function you see on many applications.I am using Access 2003. Is this possible??
If Me.Setfilter.Caption = "Search By Hedging Program" Then Me.Filter = "Hedging Program" Me.FilterOn = True cmd.Setfilter.Caption = "Don't Search By Hedge Program" Else Me.FilterOn = False cmd.Setfilter.Caption = "Search By Hedging Program" End If
Hedging program is the column from the table I am trying to filter, it is a yes/no column. I want it to return all yes values in my query if it says search by hedging program and if it says Don't search by hedging program I want it to disregard the filter. I also have it set so that when I click the button it changes the caption from one to the other. So I don't know if I really need the cmd.setfilter lines because they may do the same as my command button on click function.
I currently have a form for a handover process and am looking to have a button to ideally take a section of inputted information from the form and place this into an email.
I want to copy all these fields from my form, ideally into a new email but if not possible then atleast just to clipboard, is there any way to do this?
I am using code like this to give warning messages and pass on focus to boxes only when things are selected.
Private Sub TextBox2_Exit(Cancel As Integer) If IsNull(Me.TextBox2) Then MsgBox "TextBox2 cannot be left blank" Cancel = True Else ComboBox1.SetFocus End If End Sub
I do this for a series of required fields in order.
However, I also want a command button that is 'Exit without Saving' that should be clickable at any time, but of course when focus is controlled in my required fields sequence, it can't be clicked. How can I separate this button?
I am creating search boxes within that searches customer by lastname, phone number, address and suburb. Will I be able to use one search button for all of them or do they have to be individual buttons?
I am new to MS Access! I have design a database and a form to record the information of customer feedback.
The first thing I want is to search the record from the whole database. Secondly I want to print that searched record. And finally I want to make a Form Reset Button.
I have made a "Clear" button but it is not working correctly and removes the record from the database after saving.
I'm trying to make a form to filter a table and open a data entry form with the filtered data ready for editing. I've got it working when filtering a 1 field but I'd like to filter the data by 3 fields and i can't get it right. the code I'm trying to use is :
Code: DoCmd.OpenForm "Main", , , "[Admin District]='Corby'" And "[AgeRange]='31 - 50'" And "[Gender]='Male'"
it works fine when just filtering one field like this:-
Im trying to make a find page that looks up 7 fields and after reading about the Dynamically search multiple fields i downloaded the sample and changed a few things. But I have a few problems .
1) If you open the FRM_SearchAll from the navigation pane , it will not show the detail form by dbl_click or view button also will not show the picture .
2) If you open it the navigation form , it has the following error Forms!FRM_SearchMulti!SrchText before you start it.
3) As above it will not show the detail form by dbl_click (it has Error) Run time error : 3075 Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression '[Food]Snack a Jacks'.
4) If you try to view detail form with the button (the error comes up) Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression '[Food]Snack a Jacks'

It was, essentially, a type-and-show-as-you-go search functionality for an Access Form. It works great, except that I'm experiencing intermittent slowness when using the form. As I type, the characters appear very slowly and experience a significant lag time.
I only have about 70 records so far, so I'm pretty sure the slowness is not being caused by an overabundance of data. At other times, it goes super fast without any lag.
The code currently works for searching data on ONE single table. What if I wanted it to search data simultaneously on TWO similar tables? I was messing around trying to build up a query that uses both tables but it failed.
I want to create a parametric search for tools on the shop floor based on multiple fields [using VBA]
I've had a good search and turned up lots of useful things; but each example insofar has been fairly specific as opposed to a guide on how to implement it in a wider setting.
Let us say, for example, that my database has three fields each with a bound combo box: location; house-type; number of bedrooms
As I type in location, I want it to filter my results in the other boxes to that location (should be a simple case of applying a filter?) - which leaves me with all the house-types and bedroom-counts in that location.
As I type in the house-type, I want it to then narrow down the search again to filter the "location"+"house-type" to leave me with the available number of bedrooms.
What is the best way to implement this, given that I have about 20 fields*, some of which will inevitably be blank: as the user types in (or selects using combo boxes) the data required, it narrows down the search - and finally there's a "search all" button which returns all results matching the current criteria.
When I say "implement" I mean what underlying structure should I use. Is it best to create a query and update the query as items are entered, or would it be better to filter the form that's having the data entered?
The fields are organised sensibly into sub-forms for various characteristics (i.e manufacturing data, materials data, cutting data, etc, etc), don't worry - it's note a huge mess - and the code is all there to pull the data together as required!
I'm trying to implement a macro to filter through accidents to see if my company has already been hired on a particular case.
In the first form the user enters the date, location, and last name of one of the drivers. Then they click a button which opens a new form as a datasheet with accidents that match ANY of the three controls. Evidently, I need a filter that contains some form of a series of OR operators.
However, whenever I try any variation of a button that opens the second form and then applies the filter, I always get no matches.
I am rewriting an old Access 2003 database in Access 2010. When creating new command buttons, the current theme gives them a default appearance. I need to apply this appearance to old command buttons. I know there is a way to select the default button and apply its properties to others quickly. I have done it before but didn't write the process down .
I haven't used access before and have been set the task to create a data of photos. The table is called 'Find a Photo' and contains 6 catergories of various information including river, site and date. I would like to create a search/command button by which i can type the river, site and date into seperate text boxes and search all of them at the same time.I don't know how to connect a command button to command button and not sure if any macros/queries are needed. Hope all this aint to hard to do.
I have a subform in which I want to put in a Command Button to open another form.
I used the wizard as per normal, but when you come to matching specific data fields, there is nothing in my left hand column of the sub form. I have checked the record source property and it is bound to the correct table.
I have read that this is an issue with Access 2007? Is this the case or am I missing something obvious here?
I have a form with two fields in the header meant for filtering the form data - SelectAtty and SelectClient. The query under the form is restricted based on the values selected. I also have a "button" that if clicked should filter the records (probably unnecessary but I thought it would be clearer for the user). I'm seeing two issues. Sometimes when I select a value - it doesn't appear to apply it to the query at all. When I add msgbox statements to try to see what is happening, the problem goes away (weird right). Also I run into a "no current record" error when it requeries. Mostly this seems to happen when I have two events that fire in a row and both requery. The event procedures are below and you can see where I put my debugging msgbox statements.
1. No current record fires consistently on the filter image click and (I think) always when it requeries twice (like I changed the value and then clicked on the filter).
2. The fact that sometimes the selections are picked up in the query and sometimes aren't I have no good pattern for other than msgboxes seem to actually fix it - as if it forces access to look at the values and they they show up.
Private Sub FilterImage_Click() MsgBox "filter: " & Form.CurrentRecord MsgBox Form.RecordSource
I want to open a new form with information related to the main form.
The code I've used is: Private Sub GoToContacts_Click() On Error GoTo Err_GoToContacts_Click Dim stDocName As String Dim stLinkCriteria As String stDocName = "Contacts"
Alright I give up. I searched the forums and read up but still not grasping it. I know I've done something like this before but my brain must be dead today.
So I have 4 important tables. I have a main one and 3 tables that have records related to the main one. They're all the "many" sides of the one to many relationship with the main table. Outline is below:
Main Table: EMP_ID (Primary key) ...and other fields
So basically what I'm looking for is to have a main form pop up that has the Main table information (employee info). Then on that form I want 3 command buttons, each one going to a new form that relates to the three tables above and is relative to the Main table. Each employee may have several hire/fire listings, insurance listings (if they change their insurance), and skill ratings (updated as they improve). When I have set all my relationships so that the EMP_ID on the Main table has a one to many relationship with all the EMP_IDs on the other tables. When I create the command buttons though and start to populate a record in one of the three "subforms" the EMP_ID is not populating to be the same as the EMP_ID from the main page thus making me unable to create a record because it doesn't recognize a related record.
Working on a form and when using the wizard to add a command button or a txt box the wizard gives it a funny name like command989. Im wondering why? Where does this default come from and why is the number so high? There is no way anywhere near that number of command buttons on this form.
I have a form with command buttons that run different macro's that downloads queries into Excel.
What i would like to do if it is possible, is to somehow add an explanation of what the download will contain if the user should either hover over the button or even better if there was a way of adding ? box to the button so that the user could click on the ? and get a description of what will be downloaded.
I do have a very brief description on the button stating what it does but I would like to give the user a more detailed description of what is in the download.
