Modules & VBA :: Check If File Exist On HTTP Server

Sep 13, 2013

I found and modified this code to allow me to check (fast) if a file exist on a http server or not (without downloading it).

Code:
Public Function CheckNetFile(WebFile As String)
Dim XmlHttpReq As Object
Set XmlHttpReq = CreateObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP")
XmlHttpReq.Open "HEAD", WebFile, False

[Code] ....

In the above code I managed to declare Webfile as a string so I can call on it later but one thing I still need to tweak is to also get a result out of the test code in a better way than having to publically declare the "CheckNet" variable somewhere else in my app.

First prize would something like this:

If CheckNetFile ("http://www.mysite.co.za/test/test.txt") = 1 then "Yes" else "No"

How do I build the 'booleon check' into the original function?

Forms :: Check / Uncheck Checkbox On Parent Form If Records Exist Or Not In Subform

Jul 23, 2015

I have a parent form which has a yes/no checkbox in the form's record source. Then in that parent form I have a sub-form. If NO records exist in the sub-form I want the checkbox to be UN checked. If records DO exist in the sub-form, I want the checkbox to be CHECKED.

But I want this to happen as records are added or deleted from the sub-form. In other words, if the parent form is opened and no records exist in the subform then the checkbox should be unchecked. But as soon as the first record has been entered in the subform, the checkbox on the parent form should be checked. Likewise, as soon as the last record has been revoved from the sub-form, the checkbox on the parent form should be unchecked.

What code do I need to accomplish all of this?

Forms :: Export Query To Text File With Specific Formatting?

Oct 28, 2013

I have successfully put together some VBA code that will accept a user's input into a textbox on a form. A cmdFindprinter button is clicked and the query is ran. The user is asked via an inputbox for their login ID so that the query is exported to a text file on the desktop. The query then pops up in a new tab and also automatically exports the queried record to a text file on the desktop. I have upward of 30 users using this form at any given time and I need the following automated.

What I would like to do is to have the text file go into a specific format. For example:

IP address:
Serial number:
Location:

The name of one of the queries is "Xerox IP Query", the field names would be "IP Address", "SerialNumber", and "Site Name".

This is what comes up in the text file right now:

"CXF345946","157.229.243.58","123 Happy Ave"

I'd like to remove the quotes and have the info fall into place as shown in the example above.

This is the code so far:

Code:
Private Sub cmdFindprinter_Click()
On Error GoTo cmdFindprinter_Click_Err
Dim strPath As String
userNT = InputBox("Please enter your NT ID", "ServiceBase Xerox Printer Query", "Enter your NT ID")
strPath = "C:Users" & userNT & "DesktopPrinterQuery.txt"
If Heading = 0 Then Exit Sub

[code]....

Forms :: Open A Specific PDF File Per Record With A Command Button

Apr 18, 2013

I need to open a specific pdf file per record by using a command button. The pdf files will all reside in a specific folder in a partition on my hard drive. Each pdf file will have a unique four digit file name e.g 1234.pdf.The file name will match a unique number allocated to each record. This number is generated by adding 1000 to the record ID.Record 10 will therefore have an associated pdf file name of 1010.pdf.I have created a text box field , named 'TestReportID', to capture the unique four digit number per record that I assume is needed to be referred to when setting up the code to find and display the correct related pdf file.

I have set up a command button on the records form and as simple test using the hyperlink address to the folder where the pdf files reside, I can open a pdf file by clicking on the command button but it does not matter what record is open when I click the command button, it will always open the same pdf file.If I don't identify a specific file name in the hyperlink address, when I click on the button it will display a file open dialog which lists all the relevant pdf files and I can then select and open the required file.I would like to cut out that step and get the correct file to open when I click the button.

We have an access database which has a form that has a list box that details particular records. See attach "list box".

What I would like to do is double click on the record and this would look in a powerpoint folder (see attach "path") and open the presentation if there is a match to the value in Listbox Column 5 i.e. Tool Number.

I can get it to open the presentation if I include the tool number in the path but I cannot seem to be able to get it to compare the values and only open if there is a match.

Funny Output On The Record Number Indicator

Jan 16, 2006

Hi all

basically i have implemented something in form that says record 1 of 5 etc

the way this is implemented is done straight into the text box on teh form ...

="Application " & [CurrentRecord] & " of " & IIf([NewRecord],[CurrentRecord],Count(*))

The problem with above implementation is that when adding a new record sometimes i get say record 3 of 2 instead of 3 of 3

somettimes its 3 of 3 but when scrolling back i get 2 of 2

any ideas how i can implement this in a stable manner??

thanks

Forms :: Recordsource Does Not Exist - Combo Box Value Is Null

The problem comes when the combobox is null, the program errors out and even if I try to exit the routine with an if statement, it still compiles the line of code and errors out because the object doesn't exist. how I can get it to not compile that error if my combo box value is null?

Forms :: Value Missing When No Records Exist That Meet Filter Criteria

Dec 17, 2013

I have a main form with 3 subforms. Each subform is identical except for the value of the filter property. The filter is for the same field, but with a different value for each subform. So, for example, the first subform has a filter of:

Code:
[WBS Element]="DEF" And [Period]=Forms!frm_ProjectFinancials!Period

while the second subform has a filter of:

Code:
[WBS Element]="PPE" And [Period]=Forms!frm_ProjectFinancials!Period

and the third subform has a filter of:

Code:
[WBS Element]="EXP" And [Period]=Forms!frm_ProjectFinancials!Period

The recordset for each subform results in a single record with numeric values in each field or no records at all. When the resulting recordset is empty (no records), the bound text fields on the subform display as blank. I want these fields to display 0 instead of blank so I can use them in other calculated fields. Functions such as Nz or IsNumeric do not work since there are no records and the values are neither null nor numeric.

How I can display zeroes in the bound fields when no records exist that meet the filter criteria? Or is there a way that I can dummy a resulting recordset to have all zero values when there would otherwise be no records?

Forms :: Form Reminders For Specific User Only?

Query collect all the information about the unfinished business at the base and at the start-up of the base shows form reminders.

The base is splitet into front and back end, and are located on the server. Each user is assigned rights what can be done in the database.

The problem where I am "stuck" is to make the form reminder that can be seen only by those users whose jobs are not completed and not all users of the database. Each user uses his computer with your username and password. I tried to connect to form reminder with this information, but I failed.

Forms :: Open Form With Specific Subform

May 16, 2014

Basically I have a database that records commitments for clients. The user can go a client form, and within that form there is a subform which shows each expenditure commitment for that person (wihtin the subform there is also another subform that shows all income attached to each commitment). The user can use the Next and Previous buttons to navigate through the expenditure commitments (and the same if they want to navigate through the income commtiments within each expenditure commitment).

If you double click on any specific commitment whithin any part of the subform, then the expenditure commitment form (or the income commitment form if it is an income one) opens to allow the user to change stuff.

My database is set up so that each time a form opens the previous form closes. So when the user has the commitment form open and clicks close, the client form will re-open. My issue is that is always goes back to showing the very first commitment and the user then has to navigate back through till they find the one they have just updated.

What I would like to be able to do is when the user closes the commitment for that the client then the form opens up with the specific subform on the screen that they have just changed. The code I currently have written on the Close command of the Commitment is as follows:

Code:

Dim stDocName As String
Dim stLinkCriteria As String
stDocName = "frmTotalCommitmentsbyClient
stLinkCriteria = "[FrameworkID]='" & Me![FrameworkID] & "'"
DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , stLinkCriteria
DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmCommitments"

I essentialy just need the bit that would also say show the subform (which is called subfrmComms2) where the commitmentID = the commitment ID on the Commitment form. Now just to really complicate matters, I would also like this to happen if someone has the Income Commtiment form open and they close it, only the Income Commitment subform is actualy a subform of subfrmComms2 (above), but equally the income commitment form has within it the Expenditure ID, the Income ID and the FrameworkID.

a. The row source: SELECT [tblCustomer].[CustomerID],[tblCustomer].

[CustomerName] FROM tblCustomer ORDER BY [CustomerName];

b. After Update Macro:

Open Form (Form name: frmCustomer)
SearchForRecord (Object Type: Form Object Name: frmCustomer

Forms :: Auto Sum If Specific Values Come Up Within A Form

Jun 24, 2015

I am trying to have a field auto sum if specific values come up within a form. The form is a survey. Total all number zeros, total all 1's, 2's etc. so that I get a discrete value total for each option.

Ex.

Q1) 1 Q9) 0
Q2) 1 Q10) 1
Q3) 0 Q11) 2
Q4) 2
Q5) 1
Q6) 1
Q7) 3
Q8) 1

Total Number occurrences

Total 0's= 2
Total 1's= 6
Total 2's= 2
Total 3's= 1

Each question in the above example is a field within the same Form. Each total is its own field.
