View Replieshow to set a subform or table in a form that has no navigation at all?
View RepliesI have made a navigation form that prints the current record out as a PDF and also the option to send the current record by email as a PDF. Both work perfect when you open the form outside the navigation form. But when you open it inside the navigation form, it does not print any of the information.
The problem is in the Query report, In the criteria box for field [RequsetID] it has
Code : [Forms]![FRMRequestForm]![RequestID]
(The above works outside the navigation form.)
I have also tried adding the navigation form name
Code : [Forms]![Main]![FRMRequestForm]![RequestID]
But none work.
I have a data base in which there is a table where each record describe properties of one fishing trip. The first column in the table is a number (unique but not autonumber format) and I already made 10,000 records with only this index number . Now me and others in my lab are entering data to this table for each of the records.
The data entry is done using form which show one record at a time (lets call it "sail_info_F").
I made another form which has only two elements:
1. text box in which I enter a number
2. button which opens the data entry form ("sail_info_F") showing the record with the same index number as the number I enter on the text box.
(the code for this button is "DoCmd.OpenForm "sail_info_F", , , "[RECORD_NUMBER]=" & Me.TEXT_BOX_NAME"
So far so good and it does open the form in the wanted record. BUT when the form opens I can't use the buttons I have placed in this forms which move between records. Those were made with the wizard, and are working OK when I open the form directly without using the second form (The one which opens "sail_info_F" on a specific record).
I have a main form created from a query (FrmQuerySearchResults) which has a sub-form within, (FrmPresentationsTabular) which I am using to show each presentation to our service made by any given client.
For ease of use, I've removed the navigation buttons and want to replace them with my own command buttons. For appearance, I've changed the properties of the sub-form so that 'allow additions' is set to No. This is so that the list of presentations users see does not show the bottom row as a new record.
I'm trying (using macros) to add a button in the footer of the subform that opens a new form (FrmNewPresentation) which opens to a blank record allowing the user to click button, enter info, hit close.
I'm having all sorts of trouble getting this button to do as its told! So far, I have a macro that has 2 steps, first it opens FrmNewPresentation, then it has action GoToRecord, with record set to New, object type set to Table, object name set to Presentations (the name of my table populating this sub-form).
I realise the problem may be the allow additions property being set to No, so I believe I need to add parts to this Macro that goes to that property and changes it on opening the input form - I keep getting a message saying "The object 'Presentations' isn't open.
I am not able to disable NavigationButton when i login navigation form using login form. I am using MS access 2007 - 2010.i am using below code but getting error.
Forms![Navigation Form]!NavigationButton13.enable = False
Error
Run-time error '438'
Object doesn't support this property or method.
Any other method to disable NavigationButton.
I currently have a database where new records can be entered in a "New Part" Form and Records can be viewed(but not altered) in a "Part Search" Form. The forms are the same except one is allowed to edit. I have also created another form where I am trying to search the "Part Search" Form via a tracking number. I want to have a text box where users enter a tracking number then click the button to take them to the record on the "Part Search" Form.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to know how to auto enter the date of the previous record into a new record. I have this db for my vehicle log sheets and I submit monthly a claim for the business km from my company. I usually cant remember the date of the previous claim and have to scroll back until I find the field with a date. It will be useful if the date was copied into every new record until I edit the date when I submit the claim. What I ask is during the new month all the dates will be the same until I submit the claim. I do not know how to do this, and yes I have done a search.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Access 2007 and am a former user of an old flat-file 32 bit program under Windows 3.x. I am fairly new to MS Access 2007. I run a filter or query, which will return X number of records. Then, I will search those X records by specific text, such as "assist" from the record navigation buttons. I search for "assist" and the text will be highlighted each time it is found in any text or memo field in the record. Hitting Enter takes me to the next occurrence and highlights the text. If "assist" occurs in 4 fields in a record, for instance, it will be highlighted in each of those 4 fields one by one as I hit Enter. The next Enter takes me to the next record and will then continue to the next occurrence of assist" in any of its fields. It will continue to highlight "assist" in those fields, in succession, until the last occurrence in all of those records is found, in which case Enter does not return "assist" anymore because the last occurrence has already been found.
This does not always work. Often, I get every occurrence of "assist," but in the current record only, even though the word exists in other remaining records that were returned with my original filters/query.
I've spent far too long searching for the answer to this. On my form's onCurrent event I want to check if I am on the last record and if so, disallow navigating to the next "record" which is blank. I'm not sure why Access will let this happen to begin with when selecting Next Record. Isn't that what New (blank) record is for?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've inherited an Access 2000 database that is used to enter and print various types of data. I am using Access 2010 and when I open it I am in a forms view for the main user interface. I want to see and/or edit the objects that make up this database but I can't find a way to see them. The navigation pane is not visible and using F11 doesn't open it. How can I see the database objects?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a new scenario today! I have searched database design to try to figure this out and have an effective database as well as adding multiple records to one table that is linked to 1 record in the other table.I have a master student list with their information that has the fields
Student ID
LastName
FirstName
Address
City
Zip
Community
I have another table that has the fields
ClassName
Date
Community
Instructor
What I would like to do is be able to create a form that can add multiple classes for each student. For example, I have Student 1. Student 1 has attended class A, B, C, and D. I would like the form to have the student's name and ID with a way to add multiple classes linked to that student.
Hi
I want a filtered pop up form to accept new records.
The archive posting that I found suggested that I insert
[MyForm]![LinkedField] as the default value of the linked field.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

How do I allow a user the ability to enter in text into a combo-box so that it saves to that record?

I am having a problem updating a record on a table called BookInTable . The field I want to update is called Engineer and the record is found using the field Barcode. I have a form with 2 text boxes BarTxt and EngTxt as well as a button called SaveBtn. on the OnClick event of the SaveBtn I put the following code
Code:
Private Sub SaveBtn_Click()
If IsNull(Me![BarTxt]) Or (Me![BarTxt]) = "" Then
MsgBox "Please enter a value!", vbOKOnly, "Invalid Search Criterion!"
Me![BarTxt].SetFocus
Exit Sub
End If
DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET Engineer = " & Me!EngTxt & " WHERE BarCode ='" & Me![BarTxt] & "'"
End Sub
But this is bringing up the enter Parameter value dialog box for whatever I type into EngTxt. If I enter text into that box and then click okay it then updates to the record. how can I stop the from enter Parameter value dialog box appearing?
New to the navigation form: I need several forms in the navigation form to all relate to the same client ID field. I have this information on the main form but the form with in the navigation form will not pick it up.
I have tried =[Forms]![Frm Client Information Navigation Panel]![ClientID] But just cant get it to pick up that information...
I would like to have something like the master link fields and, child link fields but when I add a form to the navigation form this option in not available.
I'm creating a simple database to document our supplier's contact information, addresses etc. However, when I create a combo box on the form and try to enter a record not on the list it gives the message "The Text You Entered Isn't an Item in the List".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to create a Navigation Form to allow another computer in my network to be able to utilize necessary forms within a database (through RunTime). I was hoping this would be a clean task by simply loading the forms into the tabs of the Navigation Form, however that is clearly not the case.
For starters, When attempting to use a form that has some VBA behind it (Docmd.ApplyFilter based on a selection from a combo box), I am given the error stating: "The action or method is invalid because the form or report isn't bound to a table or query."
After searching on this error, I believe it's because my Navigation Form does not have a record source. If this is the case, then I am confused as to what record source it should have, as with the 3 forms I need to access through the Navigation Form all pull data between various tables and queries within the database (some not related).
Now I've also come to the conclusion that my VBA references now must change in order to correctly use my forms. A correct reference would look something like:[Forms]![Navigation Form]![NavigationSubform].[Form].[My Form's Control]..Is this necessary in order to write any events, such as an AfterUpdate on a combo box?
I have a list of incidents in my Incidents Management Database. It comes up as a grid view when users open the database.
This is what it looks loke (paste the following into address bar of your browser. lh5.google.com.au/snehal.dabhi/R8oc22J_RfI/AAAAAAAABz0/bbIkCzg5whk/image001.png
I want particular incident to open in a form when users double click on any particular incident from the list above.
For example double clicking on the first incident (dated 1/03/2008 in the list above) should open the form below with THAT PERTICULAR incident. And double clicking on 22nd incident should open the following form with 22nd incident loaded, so users can edit that incident

Any detailed help is much appreciated. – I am too new to understand macros and vba.
Thanks!
Any way (VBA script, etc) to make it mandatory for a user to enter data in a textboxes in a form before proceeding to the next record on a form? I know I am able to do this in the table by selecting the value "Yes" in the Required area in the General Tab but I was wondering if there is a VBA script you can enter it in a form instead.
On attachment is an Access Database in winzip. In the __Property form, I want to make it madatory for users to enter data in the County Shapefile Gross Acres, Township, Mineral Severance Tract, and Unit name fields before proceeding to a new record. If data is not entered in these textboxes for these field, then a person will not be allowed to go to the next record.
I'm working on the Navigation Form template in Access 2010, which is new to me. It appears that one needs to use the BrowseTo command to open up a form in the built-in subform module. I'm trying to create a couple of buttons where each button opens a form in a different data mode; one in read-only and one in add mode. Here is the syntax I used for read-only:
DoCmd.BrowseTo acBrowseToForm, "frmSales","frmNavigation.NavigationSubform", , ,acFormReadOnly
frmSales is the Sales form I want both of the buttons to open and frmNavigation is the Navigation form. It seems to be ignoring the data mode part at the end however. It only will open in Edit mode. Is there something I'm doing wrong with this command?
I would like to know if it's possible to open an specific subform inside a navigation form using an event.
I also need to to this using macros ( really can't use vba in this project =/)
Form example:
the main form has "nav_opt1", "nav_opt2", "nav_opt3"
By double clicking a record in "nav_opt1", it will open "nav_opt2" with some filters (but all in the same window), as if I was just browsing through the navigation forms usually.
I have a Navigation form that has multiple forms that I linked to buttons at the top. They open the forms (now subforms) for the most part just fine. The issues come into play when I click on a combobox that pulls from a query of a table. Once this data is selected I have another combo box that is supposed to be filtered based off of the original combo box selection. Everything works on the original forms but once they are in subform form I get the error "Forms!MGM Search Form!STATE" which is the name of one of the forms and its asking for me to enter a parameter value for the query. Its almost like its not requerrying the data like it does in the original form
Private Sub State_AfterUpdate()
me.Facility.Requery
End Sub
basically the first combo box is a list of states and then the second combo box is a list of facilities in that state. Once you click on the state in the first combo box it filters the facilities in that state. But again once in the subform view it will not requery.
I'm attempting to create my first split database and I'm failing. Here is what I did in the exact steps.
1 - Created a database with one table and 11 forms (database is on my desktop).
2 - I created a split database and saved the back end on our company network.
3 - The front end is on my desktop(works fine)
4 - I put a copy of the front end on the company network (near the same location as the back end)
When I tried to open the front end from another persons computer who has access to the location i saved the back end and front end db's . It open fine, but my navigation form will not open the other forms. I get a blank sheet.
So I have made all the necessary forms to start working with my Access, and now I need a main form, a home where I should put all the buttons to enter each form.I have used the Navigation Control on a New form URL...
A row with buttons appeared, and I complete the property: Navigation Target Name with the target form, but it is giving me some trouble with a searchForm and a Query. Every time I enter this form (using nav control), Query asks for an Input.
