Forms :: Hide And Show Controls Based On Value In Combobox

Apr 22, 2014

I am using Access 2010. I wish to show or hide controls based on the value in the combobox. The combobox is bound with the data type Yes/No. If Yes, controls should be visible and if no, they are to be invisible. The database is a linked one. This selection should update all the users' forms.

General :: Hide / Show Columns Based On Combobox

Jan 28, 2014

I would like to know if the following is possible: I have a table, I have a form based on that table (datasheet view) and I would like for certain columns to visible or not based on the input on a Combobox (list of countries) that is based on another form.

I have searched on the web and I found that the following:

On a button based on the main menu form:

Code:
Private Sub Go_Click()
Dim stDocName As String
Dim stOpen As String
stOpen = Me!cboDest
stDocName = "Datasheet"
DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , , , , stOpen

and then on the event "on open" of the form Datasheet I have inserted the following:

Code:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Select Case OpenArgs
Case "USA"
Forms![Overflow]![Tasks].Visible = True
Forms![Overflow]![Constant Number (Min)].Visible = True

[Code] ....

I have done it as a test, but it appears that it does not work. It opens the forms, but it does not hide or show the columns based on the option, it brings all the columns.

Forms :: Hide / Show Text Boxes Based On Search

Aug 2, 2014

I have a form (employee info) that requires the user to do a search to find the employee before then editing anything that needs to be edited.

I have a search box that will find the relevant record without any problem, however what I am looking to do is hide text boxes on the form and have them appear only once the search has found the matching record.

If no matching record is found, I would then like a message box that states 'No matching employee, would you like to add an employee' and when the user clicks OK, it then reveals the same hidden text boxes and sets focus to the first one of the bunch.

Now, I have used the 'me.textboxname.visible = True (or False) elsewhere, however, I am not sure how to trigger that after a search.

I assume I am looking at an If statement, but I am not sure how to construct it, hence turning to the experts.

Code:
Private Sub txtEmployeeSearch_AfterUpdate()
If txtEmployee = DLookup("EmployeeNumber", "tblEmployeeInfo") Then
Me.txtboxname.Visible = True
Me.txtboxname2.Visible = True
DoCmd.GoToControl "txtboxname"
Else
MsgBox "Employee Not Found", vbYesNo
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
End If
End Sub

I know that there is a massive gap where I have put <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< - but I am stumped as to what to put in there?

Forms :: Hide Controls When A Form Is Opened Conditionally

Oct 7, 2014

I've searched and can only find information setting the visible property when selections are made on an open form--I want to set the visible property when the form is opened depending on which avenue the user chooses from the navigation form.

I have a navigation form (Form A) and a second form with a subform (Form B). The user will choose from a combobox, either an existing record or a new record on Form A. On Form A there are two buttons, one that will take the user to the correct record on Form B for editing and one that will open to a new record on Form B. Once Form B is open, all controls will be blank (if a new record is chosen) or with certain controls prepopulated if an existing record is chosen.

What I want to do is to hide controls on the main form (not the subform) of Form B if the user chooses an existing record. Form A's buttons work correctly to open Form B right now. I want to be able to hide prepopulated controls on Form B if the user chooses an existing record from Form A.

Here's the code I'm using to open Form B to an existing record. I'd like to set the visible property here if at all possible.

NOTE: "Form A" and "Form B" are not the actual names of my forms--it's just easier for illustration purposes here in my question.

Private Sub cmdAddLogEntry_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "Form B", acNormal, , "Activity_ID = " & Me.cboINum
DoCmd.Close acForm, "Form A", acSaveYes

End Sub

Forms :: Hide Form Controls And Resulting White Space

Sep 20, 2013

I have a checkbox that determines whether or not to display certain form controls. How can I also hide the resulting white space that comes from hiding the form controls?

Can I put all of the controls in some sort of container and hide the container? The form objects are all displayed in order, so it shouldn't cause issue.

Can I create a subform for the objects and hide it? This would make the main and subforms based off of the same table.

Occam's Razor would be the preferred philosophy in this case. Nothing too fancy is needed.

Forms :: Enabling Some Form Controls After Selecting From Combobox

Jan 27, 2014

I have combo box in a form. I want to enable (to highlight) some controls in the form after selecting any value from my combobox.

For example, There are three values in the combobox. And :

When I select value1, I want an unbound combobox1 to be enable (This combobox is synchronized with a bound combobox2). So when this unbound combo is enabled, its synchronized bound combo should also be enabled.

When I select value 2, it should do the similar action on a different unbound combobx3 (which is synchronized with a combobox4).

Forms :: Checkbox To Hide / Show Series In Embedded Chart

Dec 13, 2013

I have chart (grpMaster) that is embedded in a form (frmMain), the chart is a line graph based on a query (qryDataFilter) with 4 data series.

What I want to do is have various checkboxes (chk1 to chk4) that if selected show the series and if no don't - It seems straight forward!

I've tried SeriesCollection() but this comes up with errors. (Object doesn't support this property or Method).

The easiest way i can think of is just to hide / show the series line on the chart, but can't figure this out?

Forms :: Show / Hide Main Form Buttons When Clicking Into Subform

Dec 11, 2013

I'm currently building a database in Access 2013. I've used Access many years ago, and not really in anger since maybe 2003, so I've been re-learning quite a lot. Here's an overview of my scenario, and issue:

The main purpose of my database is to allow engineers to log various bits of information when building, servicing and testing manufactured products for offshore exploration. Because some of the engineering team aren't so great with data entry etc, I've decided that, rather than deleting data, I'm going to use a 'deleted' flag: user clicks what he considers to be a delete button, but in reality an update query will simply update the flag and, because the form is built on a query which includes a 'where deleted = 0' filter, it'll no longer be shown. This will allow us more control over the data and will also allow me to check that everything is running okay.

My main forms include a number of subforms, including one which includes a second tier of nested form: Pin Maps for (electrical) Connectors.

What I need to achieve is fairly straightforward: as the user navigates around the form, I'd like a 'delete' button which is specific to that subform to become visible and for any other 'delete' buttons to become hidden. Once tested, the buttons would be 'stacked' in the same position at the top of the main form, so the user just thinks they're deleting the relevant record in the sub, or main, form.

Forms :: Calculated Controls Based On Weekday In Form

Sep 18, 2013

Here is the basic info:

Table has Checkbox column
BusinessDate column (mm/dd/yyyy format)
OrderTotal column (in dollars)
There are others but these are the relevant ones

In the header of the form I have a calculated control box with the following control:

=Sum(Abs(nz([Checkbox],0))*nz([OrderTotal],0)),0)

Which works just fine. The user is presented with a list of all the orders from this table in the form. They check the checkboxes and the control in the header shows the total of the records checked. I need to make 7 of these calculated controls, one for each day of the week. Is this possible? This way the user can see the order totals for each day of the week they have selected.

I tried:
=IIf(Weekday([BusinessDate])=2,Sum(Abs(nz([Pull],0))*nz([OrderTotal],0)),0)

but it still sums up the whole week as the expression holds true.I do not know VB, and I'm sure there is a really neat and easy way to do it in there. I just don't know how.

Forms :: Populating Controls Based On Input In Others From Reverse

Aug 3, 2015

I'm using I have a secondary control being populated by an entry from another control. I was able to find the code I needed to do this using a combo box here in this forum.

me.txtDependent=me.cboPrimary.column(#)
(specifics changed to protect my company's paranoid view of privacy)

the code itself was showing up in the secondary control instead of any value. I found though that moving the code from the On Change event for the primary control to the On Current event for the form itself everything is working beautifully.

However, I have a different task now that I need to be able to accomplish with the same two tables but in the opposite direction. I suspect that I'm going to need to create a second set of controls and maybe even a second relationship or table to do this. To use a set of specifics that I think will get this point across, if I had a master table which includes a field for "City" and a secondary table, CityState, which contains both "City" and "State", and two controls, a combo box cboCityState to look up the specific City and a text box, txtState to display the State, putting the following code in the City combo box's On Change event populates a text box with the State when the specific City is selected, or putting it in the form's On Current event will be sure that State shows up in all the copies of a form when the form is used in a search and the City is not changed :

me.txtState=me.cboCityState.column(2)

What I need to do now is to set up a control which allows me to type in the State and have the results show all records that include that State.

I'm using this in a Filter by Form environment. I know the objections to this method and the benefits to creating a dedicated search form, but this method appears to be working well in all other ways for us for now. I have several situations within this form where I have one control showing up at the initial load of the form and at the beginning of the filtering process, allowing selection of multiple values from a long list of values in a list box, for instance, (using the On Filter event) and other controls showing up as a result of the filtering process, to display the selected criteria only, for instance (using the On Apply Filter event), so I'm aware of how to make this work if that's required. I'm thinking I may need to create a second control, something like txtStateInput, to accept the State search criteria and another, something like txtCityResults, to show the cities that are part of the resultant records.

Forms :: Unhide Form Tab Controls Based On Drop Down Selection

Selection 1: stay hidden
Selection 2: unhide
Selection 3: unhide
Selection 4: stay hidden
Selection 5: unhide
Selection 6: stay hidden
Selection 7: unhide
Selection 8: stay hidden
Selection 9: stay hidden

I think one I figure this out then I can use the 'OnCurrent' event to check the drop down selection as a user selects the a record or scrolls through records.

Forms :: Hiding / Unhiding Tab Controls Based On Combo Box Selection

Oct 16, 2013

I have frmIncident that has a 2-column combo box (cmbIncidentType). Column (0) is IncidentType, Column (1) is YES/NO. This combo box feeds from a Query and currently has about 15 "types" of which 4 have a "Yes" tied to them, then rest "No".There are situated on a TabControl (tabIncident) with 5 sheet tabs. If the Incident Type selected in the Combo Box has a corresponding "Yes" in Column (1) then all 5 sheet tabs need to be visible. If it is "No", then only three of the five are visible. Here it he current code I am using for the AfterUpdate event on the combo box:

Private Sub cmbIncidentType1_AfterUpdate()
If Me.cmbIncidentType1.Column(1) = "Yes" Then
pgEmerIncidentRpt.visible = True
pgNarrClose.visible = True
Else

[code]...

When I open the form is will set the proper sheet tabs that need to be visible, however once I cycle to the next record, or select a different Incident Type, even one with a "YES' in column (1), it will only show the (3) sheet tabs. I can never get it to show all 5.

In the code, the only (2) sheet tabs that need to visible = true or visible = false are shown, starting with "pg".
