Forms :: How Does Access Relate A Control And A Label

Oct 14, 2013

How does Access relate a label to a control?

We can delete the label, and then re-'attach' it, but there seems to be no visible property that retains this information - in either the label or the control (only done the detailed comparison for text box so far.

The reason for this is to be able to export enough data to recreate an Access form in html, and I need a label value if it exists. (And for most controls, of course, it does!)

Forms :: Access Form With Tab Control Pages Each With Embedded Forms

Apr 13, 2013

I have an access form with tab control pages each with embedded forms. In one page I have a list of records as a datasheet form with the record identifier field configured as a hyperlink. When I click on this it passes its value to a form field in the form in the following tab page (works without the hyperlink but its a useful way of highlighting which field to click) which is a display/edit form of the details of the individual record. The Subroutine which does this sets the focus on this field it is passing the value to on the other form and the 'On Got Focus' event in that triggers the query that fills the editor form.

When I click back on the following tab to select another record to view/edit, the identifier value of the other record is passed to the other form but the data displayed in the rest form doesn't change. I understand this is because the field with the 'On Got Focus' never lost focus and so the query function was not called. To correct this I tried adding the same function call to the 'On Change' event however this does not work (the field is a text box set to 'locked' if that is relevant).I can get the form to do a new query properly if I click on a different field in the form before going back to the list tab or (as this is removing the focus allowing the On Got Focus to work again) if I click on a button to select a different record (which just takes me back to the list form).

Is there any way I can get this to work without having to manually remove the focus from the problem field? I have tried setting its On Got Focus event to move the focus to another field after the query function call however this prevents the Setfocus line in the code in the previous form from working. Here is a snippet of my code below. This code is for the list form and passes a value to the editing form:

Private Sub SalesID_Click()
Forms!Mainform.Requery
Forms!Mainform!Sales_Admin_Form!Sales_Admin_SalesI D.Value = SalesID.Value
Forms!Mainform!Sales_Admin_Form.SetFocus
Forms!Mainform!Sales_Admin_Form!Sales_Admin_SalesI D.SetFocus

[code]....

Relate Chart To Search Form On The Fly

Mar 17, 2006

Hi,

I'm having problems relating a pivotchart with search criteria automatically after the search - all on the same form. This will be a nifty trick if it is possible, and I can imagine other uses for a form like this.

Without being overly wordy, I attach a mdb in hopes that someone with a bit more skill than I will take an interest and set me on the right track.

How To Relate Tables And Display The Correct Values..

Feb 15, 2008

I'm sorry if this is obvious, but I have asked local professionals and scoured this site for answers before posting...

I have a database that I'm using to store and analyze language samples (basically, the mistakes that students make when trying to speak in another language). For each bit of language, I want to be able to say what domain the mistake belongs to - e.g. the 'clause', 'phrase', or 'word' domain. I have a table containing the five domains. I also have a table for each of these domains, containing the specific types of mistakes relevant to that domain. It is conceivable, but unlikely, that I will ever add to the domain table, but highly likely that I will add types of mistakes in the five related tables.

As I analyze bits of language, I will be appending each analysis (record) to a table as shown in the attached image. So far so good. The part that I cannot fathom, though, is how to display (let alone perform calculations on) this data: While the ErrorDomainID is a foreign key to the ErrorDomain table, the ErrorUnitID could refer to one of five tables, so that an ErrorUnitID of 2, for example, could refer to one thing if the Domain is 1 but quite another if the domain is 1 or 5 or whatever.

I've tried all kinds of coding and SQL workarounds, but I have a feeling I'm just missing something very basic here. If anyone could offer some guidance, I'd be extremely grateful!

Populating The Text Box’s That Relate To The Chosen Combo Box’s With The Sum Of A Cal

Sep 29, 2005

Hi, I'm in the process of building a program in access 2003 for estimating roofs, I've ran into a little problem, as described below. any suggestions would be very useful

Populating the text box’s that relate to the chosen combo box’s with the sum of a calculation.

In other words if X combo box is chosen (There are many combo boxes to choose from) populate xx text box with the sum of a calculation.

Refer to the print screen example of my program: http://www.roofmart.net/Rest.asp

Notice under the label felts the 15lb 36” felt combo box is chosen and it displays the value of 11 and next to the combo box is a text box that displays the value of 25 The calculation will be (11*25) = 275 this value of 275 must be added to the text box values that are being shown in the forms header under 30yr where it reads $4,606.80 and 40 yr $6002.80 only, this is because the 30yr comp and the 40 yr comp combo boxes are the only chosen roof types under the label roof types above the felt label.
Hopefully this makes sense.
Thanks -- Any help with be greatly appreciated.

Forms :: Visible / Invisible Control Based On User Access?

Dec 2, 2014

My company has a new database that we will use to track PTO (paid time off/vacation), including the submission/approval process. Not everyone should have access to the approval dashboard as that should be restricted to only managers. Everyone will have the same basic form so that they can see their PTO history, hours remaining to be used, etc.

What I want to do is have a button on the form that is visible only if the person is a manager. The button will open the PTO approval form. How can I make a button visible/invisible based on user access levels?

Forms :: Referencing A Control On Access 2010 Navigation System

May 29, 2015

I have an Access 2010 Database frontend to SQL Server 2008 Backend. So far there are 3 Tabs in the Navigation System. The first one is the primary Data Entry form which has a tab control with 3 subforms.

Here's the problem. The database is designed to track potential members based on different types of Ads. The primary Data Entry form holds all of the demographic data for the person that called in response to an ad. The first tab has a subform to track how many times that person has contacted us. The second subform tracks which advertisements the person is contacting us about and the third tracks which Events that person attended. There is no correlation between contacts, Ads and Events.

On the Advertisements we have about 7 different types of Ads we do and each ad can be run multiple times on different days. We want to be able to track which Ad the person contacted us about. The Advertisement subform has a comgo box for the Ad type and a combo box for the ad date. the source for the combo box for the ad date includes the combobox for the adtype as the criteria. That criteria is what's giving me the problem. I've used:

forms!mainmenu!navigationsubform.form!potential_me mbers!frmAdvertisements!cboadvid

Along with every other variation I can think of. The form itself is frmAdvertisements but I'm using it in a tab control and I also tried:

forms!mainment!navigationsubform.form!potential_me mbers!adv!cboadvid

Forms :: Creating Tabbed Form In Access 2007 - Control Alignment?

Mar 29, 2013

I'm creating a tabbed form in Access 2007, and in the first 3 tabs, when I dragged the field controls onto the form, they stretched to the width of the form and all stacked nicely underneath each other.

Now on the next tab they are coming out as much smaller. I don't want to stretch them to fit as I want them a uniform size and I just want to find how to get that setting back! I've been messing with the anchoring buttons to what seems like no avail!

Forms :: Syntax To Refer To A Control On Nested Subform In Access 2013

Mar 20, 2014

I have searched to find the correct syntax to refer to a combo box control on a nested subform. All the examples I've found Access 2013 will not recognize or find the appropriate control.

I have a parent form called IncidentDetails. On that form I have a control called ctrlLogDetail. Within that control is a form called sfrm_LogDetail. On sfrm_LogDetail, I have a control called ctrlType which houses a form called sfrmType. On sfrmType, I have a combo box called cboType. I need to be able to place the cboType choice into a query to filter records for another combo box on that same form. the query works appropriately when I have sfrmType open, however as soon as I try to call the query from the IncidentDetails form, Access cannot find the cboType control.

I've tried multiple variations of the syntax to call to cboType that I've found online. I found a very useful reference from BTA Development: however the syntax there will NOT work in Access 2013.

What is the appropriate syntax would be to get to my control within my 3 deep nested subform? I'm working Access 2013 and won't have a choice regarding Access versions.

Forms :: Use Formula In Caption Property For Page In Tab Control (Access 2007)

Oct 7, 2013

Is it possible to use a formula in the Caption property of a page in a tab control (i.e. to make it dynamic)

I have a number of tabs each with their own subform (with each subform driven by its own unique query)

I'd like the tab name to include the number of records returned by that query (so as records are added, the tab name is automatically updated with the new number)

So something along the lines of :

Page 1 (" & DCount("[ID]","[qryQuery1]") & ")"

Such that the page name appears as :

Page 1 (7)

I know I can code this programmatically but then that code has to be triggered by some event and I need the counts to be as real-time as feasibly possible rather than requiring the user to click on a control to trigger it. I was hoping by using a formula directly in the Caption property of the page, it would be dynamically updated every time a new record was added without the need to trigger an event first.

Forms :: Access 2007 - Binding Control To Form RecordSource With Criteria?

Nov 12, 2013

I have a form with a (large) number of controls which acts as a kind of read-only dashboard of data. The data is split across a number of tables (4, for now, but may grow) I've created a query which amalgamates all of the data from the tables into a single dataset and set that as the RecordSource (Snapshot) of the form. I now want to bind each of the controls to a particular field returned by that query.

However - I have a combobox (same form) which allows users to select a date and I need the controls to update with the relevant data for that date whenever the combobox is changed. The query already returns values for each field over a range of dates so the data is available within the form's RecordSource - I just don't know how to include the date criteria, as specified by the combobox, when binding each individual control?

Forms :: Web Browser Control Inside A Tab Control Display

Jun 18, 2014

I have a form with a tab control, inside the tab control I placed an ActiveX control (Microsoft Web Browser). These are at the bottom of the form.

Everything displays fine if the entire form fit on the screen but if the form is too long and I scroll down the browser control is getting obscured by the tab control and getting chopped off (the contents are covered). It is as if the browser control is staying in space where it was and moving behind the tab control as I scroll.

This problem does not occur if I place the browser control directly on the form. Also I note that the browser control is sitting correctly within the tab control.

I have been through all the settings and properties of both controls and haven't been able to fix it. I searched all over the web but no one has previously stumbled across this one by the look of it.
