Forms :: How To Print A Blank Form
Jun 26, 2013
In Access 2007 I'm trying to print out a blank form so users can fill in rough notes while on the phone with a client, etc. I currently have a print macro button on the form, but the entire page shows up blank (titles, everything) when I try to print a an empty form.
A possible solution I've thought of is to check if the form is blank and then open and print a separate report that's just a copy of the form and printing that, but it doesn't seem like a very elegant solution.

I have a form in access 2010 that prints a document rougly 500 pages in length. I want to know if there is a way to tell the form not to print a particular page if one of the fields on the page returns the word "suspended" and or the field is blank. The page has other data on it, as do they all, but if this particular field comes back null or "suspended" I would rather it just did not print that particular page in its entirety.

When entering information into a blank form, I would like to be able to continue entering information to another additional blank form after my last entry. Is there a way to continue to a blank form after entering information into the previous blank form? I would just like to continue without having to close the entire form and then reopening another form.

I have a report with four subreports. If the subreports have no data I have a formula to put the word 'none' in the first field as follows:
=IIf(IsNull([Question]),"None",[Question])
I do a print preview and the word 'None' shows up and subreport looks good when I view just the subreport as well as when I view the full report.
When I print the subreport the text '#Error' prints. When I print the full report I just get a blank space.
I need the subreport to print with the word 'None' if there is not data. How do I accomplish? I tried the above formula both in the query and in the control source of the report. It just comes up blank when I put it in the query.

I have a report that has two sub reports one to report deposits and the other to report payments.
The report prints fine if there are records in both sub reports, however when the payments sub report is blank then the report hangs and won't print to pdf at all.

I've been asked to make sure only certain users in my database are able to print anything (i.e. Administrators). Is there any option/property to do this?
I have already built in User Access controls using the ctl.Tag property. The only way I can think off the top of my head is when a 'general user' uses it, to ensure that every control is displayed 'on screen only'. This of course doesn't stop them printing - just makes them print blank pages!

I have a Lost/Found property database which we use to keep record of the lost/found property and it is working fine.
As per our organization's policy, we keep the item(s) for up to three months in which if it gets restored to the owner then fair enough otherwise after three months the item(s) can be claimed by the "Finder". But for this very purpose we issue the Finder with a "Claim Receipt" which he/she should bring in when claiming for the item(s) after three months period. Therefore, It's just the right time to upgrade the database to a more professional level.
The database has one table and two forms.
One form (LostFoundForm) is visible to the user in which they enter data, this form has two sections; Item(s) & Finder's details and the second section is about Restoring details.
However the second form (ClaimReceiptForm) is hidden to the users (for manual data entry) and has only one section which is exactly the same as the first form's first section, i.e., Item(s) & Finder's details. This second form takes the data automatically from the first form because the table behind them is same and fields are same (please see attachment). Up to here it's all working fine.
I would like to introduce a Checkbox or a CommandButton in the LostFoundForm which when we click should pull up a msgbox asking "Do you want to print the receipt for this item(s)?" with a Yes/No option. On clicking "No" it should, obviously, settle down but on clicking "Yes" it should print the "corresponding record" from the ClaimReceiptForm.

I have one table containing name of restaurant with its address etc. Then i created another table to list out the restaurant workers names and details. Just as an example,
Table:Restaurant
Restaurant name
Address line 1
Address line 2
Restaurant #
Website
Table:StaffContact
Staff Role
Name
speciality
email
phone
I have the main form that has all the restaurant details only. And i have another form containing the Staff information. Please note the two table have a relation and it works well.
Now to make it user friendly(basically easier for the lazy ones), I dragged the staff contact form on to my main form and displayed it as a datasheet(basically a sub form).
Now, my boss does not want users to add/delete on this sub form(datasheet). So,he wants me to create buttons to open new record of staff for each restaurant(new form)
My issue is with opening a new record to enter a new person to the staff list and give them a role as well in form view. The new form has
So i ran a Macro, with open form with Where condition
Code:
[Staffcontact]![Rest Name]=[Forms]![MainForm]![RestaurantName]
But, it does not work .

I would like to add a button to a form that will print the form with the current record in it. Also, to add a level of difficulty, there are 8 subforms attached to the form. As I already have the form developed, I don't want to reinvent the wheel and go off and create a report with 8 subreports. Is this possible? If so, Can we force all the data on the form to one page?

On a continuous form, I would like the user will add a new record via button click instead of popping open a blank record at all times. With AllowAdditions set to False on Form load, and turning it back on button click I can get a new record added. I am having trouble determining where to turn it back off. After Insert - doesn't seem to delete the blank row until I move to the blank row, so this doesn't accomplish what I am looking for.
AfterUpdate (for each field on continuous form) - this did what I wanted, but I was only able to update one field on the form for the new record. The combo boxes then were viewable, but I could not make a selection.

I have a form that I would like to have blank fields when it is opened. I put the following in the "On Open" Event field of the form properties:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
End Sub
However, it does not work. I have an unbound combo box on the form for users to select from, in which all the records on the form will populate with whatever is selected in the unbound combo box. I thought this was the problem at first, but even if I remove that from the form, the form still opens to the first record. If I set the "Data Entry" field to "Yes" on the Data tab, that works, but then none of the fields populate when using the combo box.

I have a continuous pop up form which, at the most, will contain about 10 records. The ten records take up less than half the screen space - but there is a bottom half to the form - even though there is nothing there. How can I get rid of the unused space on my form?

I need to find a way to print the currently selected record (by clicking a button in the form) as a form. I know printing is almost always done in records, but they use the forms by hand before entering them into the computer database.
One tough part of this is that this printing function needs to be sustainable through revisions of the form, as we will be constantly updating it.
Is there a way to print the form with only the current record shown without creating a second form or report?

I have almost completed creating a continuous form which I want users to be able to filter though the records based on to/from date, badgenum and a response string.
I then want to have a button, btnSelect, that will select the remaining records and open a report based off only the remaining records.
1.) Everything on the continuous form works except when trying to filter a combo box, cboBadge, field name "BadgeNum". BadgeNum is data type "short text". I have modified the code below from the following Allen Browne link. It keeps throwing a debug on me.Filter = strWhere at the bottom of the btnFilter sub.
2.) As far as the btnSelect and printing remaining records, I guess I'm not sure where to start.. I currently have another print button that will print individual records only which works fine.
[URL] ....
Code:
Private Sub btnFilter_Click()
Dim strWhere As String 'The criteria string.
Dim lngLen As Long 'Length of the criteria string to append to.
Const conJetDate = "#mm/dd/yyyy#" 'The format expected for dates in a JET query string.
[Code] ....

Why I cannot print a report using a single record in a form using Access 2007.
I have added the button, I am using the following code:
Private Sub cmdPrintRecord_Click()
Dim strReportName As String
Dim strCriteria As String
strReportName = "Receipt"
strCriteria = "[ID]='" & Me![ID] & "'"
DoCmd.OpenReport strReportName, acViewPreview, , strCriteria
End Sub
However when I click the button nothing happens. I have attached the database ...
I am using the Contacts Entry form, and when I am on a record that someone has paid I want to be able to print from the Receipt report that has a simple formed up letter.

I have a DB in Access 2007 which I'm having trouble with. I have a form, "Sub_Det_Frm", on which I would like to place a button to print the current record, (Primary Key is an autonumber "Employee Number") to a report "Sub_DetForm_Rpt".
I've used the instructions from, oops I can't show you the link! It's h(double t)p(colon)//allenbrowne(dot)com/casu-15(dot)html but I'm getting this error:
The expression On Click you entered as the property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Employee Details was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control.
This error occurs when an event has failed to run because Microsoft Office Access cannot evaluate the location of the logic for the event. For example, if the OnOpen property of a form is set to =[Field], this error occurs because Access expects a macro or event name to run when the event is fired.

I have a [Order Central table] that compiles products from four different categories that employees can order from.
Employees using the database will select from four categories on buttons which opens up the order form EX: [Category 1 form].
They enter their order info on [Category 1 form] into a subform sourced from [Category 1 Table] called [Category 1 subform].
Is there a way that they could select the "Category 1" button, which would run a macro opening [Category 1 form] with the [Category 1 subform] having a where condition of 1=0 (or just so that the subform appears blank)?

Very suddenly today, when I'd done seemingly nothing, all of the records from my form that I'd built from a blank form disappeared, with the exception of the first record. When I try to just close everything down, nothing changes. When I put in a new record to the form, however, it's saved in the table. But when I save and close, the form goes back to only having the first record! This is very annoying, for easily perceivable reasons. I even tried creating the form from scratch, to see if it's some residual SQL update code acting funny, and nothing changed! It seems to work if I select a table and just create a form, though. It doesn't even work when it's a splitform and whatnot.

I have created a navigation form with quick access to the forms and reports I use most often. The Navigation Form (which I named Control Panel) automatically lands on the Tutor_Information Form on a current record. However, I would like for it to open to a blank form instead while retaining the ability to access the current records. Individually, when opening the Tutor_Information Form from the Navigation Panel, it opens to a blank record.
I used a 2 step macro
1. OpenForm
2. GoToRecord - New.
How can I make it do the same thing when landing on the Navigation Form (Control Panel)? I am using Access 2013.

I have a form that I populate after making selections in two combo boxes but when I load the form the text boxes are already filled in with the first record. The combo boxes load blank, which is what I want.
How do I get the rest of the form to be blank on load? It is made up of text boxes and check boxes that are all bound. Will this only work if they are unbound?

I am working on a DB that will have multiple reports available. What I would like to do is to have a form that lists the reports available from a reports table. In other words, each detail line of the form will contain a report. I would like to have a button or link placed in the detail line that will open the report for that detail line when it is clicked. This will keep me from having to add a new line to a static form every time I add a report.
I have tried the DoCmd.OpenReport command, but it requires a report name, and I can't find where you can place a field name variable in the command line. I have tried other things I have seen here, but none have done the trick.
