Forms :: How To Add New Values To Appropriate Table From Form
Mar 14, 2013
I have a data input form with multiple combo boxes. The combo boxes are related to their own separate tables. The Row Source on some of the combo boxes are from queries with concatenated fields.
Not sure the best way to be able to quickly/simply input new values into the appropriate tables from here.
I'm making a very basic sales system for my school project and I'm currently working on the stock management part, as I said it's very basic.
My task -When the user receives a stock delivery they need to update the stock numbers. the value they need to update is the StockNumber value in the Products table. to so this I want to make a form that displays all the product names in a table with a textbox or cell next to it in which the user can enter the amount of that item that has been delivered. And at the bottom of the form there is a button which will add all these new values to the existing values.
1. There is no set number of products, the user is able to add new ones, this is preventing me from just making a separate textbox for each existing product
2. I have attached a jpeg I made in paint to illustrate how I want to the form to work as well as my system as it currently stands, there are a few unused forms and queries.
I have a table with the fields Thermometer_ID (primary key) and CalibrationType (combo box list with the options of InHouse or SendOut)
I want the user to click on a button and have an input box to input the thermometer_id. Then if the CalibrationType is InHouse open form Verification and if it's SendOut open form Thermometers.
If I have a text box (Text1) on my form with comma separated values entered i.e. 100,120,250,300 what would be the easiest way to enter these into a table column with a button click event. I would like to enter these values into my table tb_test under column Values.
I have a form, a subform and a master unique table. I need the unique table to updated in the following manner: Form has certain fields that need to be assigned to every record created in the subform[id] and [info1] Subform has a unique [caseid], and contains further [info2] but needs to be bound into [id] in the main form. Example of the master unique table:
I've managed to accomplish this with a linked table&subform structure, but the master unique table looks like crap because it collapses the subform values into sub-records in the master table when the [id] is similar. The data is in the rigth place, i just want it not to be collapsed/expanded, but every unique recors shows in the table in the regular format
I am having a problem with calculated fields that are populated on the main form from the subform not saving to the table the main form is linked to.
I created a Purchase Order table that has information on what emplyee created the record, reason for order, customer information if its ordered for a customer, creation date, eta date and notes while the Purchase Order details table is for information on the supplier, product item number, product name, quantity and cost. they are linked by the Purchase Order number which is the primary key in the Purchase order table. it all looked good so i made the form with the Purchase Order Detail as the subform, i got the form all working great and how i wanted it but then i decided i wanted the supplier name and the subtotal of the cost in the main form populated or calculated by the values in the subform.
I copied the fields i wanted populated in the main form to the subform footer and added the calculation for the subtotal then added the formula to the source code on those fields in the main form so the values would populate. it all worked great on the form and the values populated as they were supposed to so i saved the record and went to look at the tables and i found that while the values in the calculated fields that I populated from the subform showed up in the form they didnt save to the table while the non calculated fields saved fine. i did some experimenting and found that if i delete the code and put the data source back to the table in the form and just type something in the text box it would save to the table but not if i had the code in and let it populate.
an example of one of the codes i used to populate the data in the main form is:
Situation: 3 tables. Manufacturers, Countries & Provinces/States. 1 Form for data entry in Manufacturers.
Countries table contains ID, Country and CountryCode fields. i.e. 47, Great Britain & GB
Provinces/States table contains ID, Province/State and CountryCode. as in 1, Alaska and US.
In the form the country is easily selected from a list refering directly to the Countries table.
Problem: How to make a list in the form from which the user can simply select the province for the country that has previously been selected. And not a list with all teh provinces and states from every country in the world. (This would be a really really long list...)
I need to pull the calculated values from approximately 10 forms into another form. This is a summary form that should have all the totals pulled from the other forms.e.g. Form A has a textbox that reflects the sum of the amount. This is the total balance of form A.Form B, Form C, etc. all have a total Balance. Now, i need to pull all these totals into a summary form
-Form A Total Balance: x -Form B Total balance: y, and so forth.
How and what is the best method to approach?I have tried using Forms![Formname]![Total] to get the data. This necessitates the need to hide all these forms and I ended up with blank forms, etc.Even so, the total sometimes appear and sometimes it does not. so it is very unstable.
I have a form with a combobox and a treeview. When I select an item in the combobox, the treeview is updated with info related to the combobox value. When I browse through the nodes in the treeview, I want to see which other values will give that very same node. I could use the concatenation function* I found at Allen Browne's site, which will return a number of values in a single string.
What I'm looking for, is basically some sort of tag cloud. If the user selects node X, the tag cloud needs to show which values in the combobox will all lead to node X. The combobox values that lead to node Y shouldn't be visible at all in the tag cloud, or maybe just shown in a different color. The user should be able to click on the value, which will trigger the combobox_click event.
how many values there will be in the table behind the combobox. That's what's making this problem difficult to solve. Putting the form in design view, adding a textbox and returning to form view is not an option. How do I create a dynamic tag cloud? Is it possible to transpose a table column on a form?
I would like to create a command button on my form that copies values from 5 fields in the current record into a new record leaving all the other fields blank except for the new record ID.
The fields that contain the data that I want copied into a new form are:
I have an option group which should display a value from a table if txtWords is null, but the result of a query if txtWords is not null. But though it shows the right results when I load the form, updating txtWords gives me all sorts of errors.
txtWords is in the main form, while the option group optLengthCat is in a subform (but inline).
Form_OnCurrent() event:
Code: 'Enable or disable the option group If Len(Me.txtWords.Value & vbNullString) = 0 Then Me.fsubLengthCat.Form!optLengthCat.Enabled = True Else Me.fsubLengthCat.Form!optLengthCat.Enabled = False
[Code] .....
When I put this into txtWords_AfterUpdate() it starts throwing up errors. Specifically, when I delete a subform record using SQL I get 'record was already deleted by another user'; I think I might have fixed the problem with Me.Requery, but it feels really inefficient.
Should I be using an unbound control? If yes, how do I make an unbound control that can edit or add new records?
I am trying to get a value from a textbox into a table I created...
The textbox "calculates a number based on which radio button is pressed example if radio button 1 is pressed it returns 0 if radio button two is pressed it returns 8 and if radio button 3 is pressed it returns 15." I need to save the 0,8, or 15 depending on which radio button is pressed into the table...
I know you aren't supposed to store calculated values into a table but the report would never need to be changed and it just saves a new one each time with that being said anyway to make this work would be very useful!
Also how can you use the answer of calculated textboxs in other calculations?
I have form named home page in this homepage form in the form header i have inserted some fields from some tables like province, district, community etc. these fields are unbound and are used for filtering purposes, when i select a province all districts related to that province displayed and when i select a a district all related communities displayed, there is a one to many relationship between district table and community table,
What I want is, when i select a district on the form header(it is unbound as i explained before) of this homepage form, the DistrictID should appear in community subform under DistrictID(as there is a one to many relationship between district and community) .

Am I correct in thinking the only way to have a combo box with different values in each column is to create a table and then bind the combo box to the column you are referring to if you want it to represent a value from another.
For example if I have a combo box with the words January, February etc can that combo box have a corresponding month number value in a separate column (this combo would be derived from a list) or would I need to create a table holding both the month names and numbers and then bind to the name value for selection but use the month number value?
The reason I ask is I wasn't sure if for every type of list I wanted with multiple column values, I would need to create a table.
In my form's table (tblMain), I've got a lookup field (drop-down list) that lists the primary key field from a different table (tblDiff). tblDiff includes 3 more fields. In my form for tblMain, I want to include 3 more textboxes that get filled up with these 3 fields from tblDiff when the corresponding primary key is selected in the drop-down box.
I am struggling with calculate difference between two query table values, I first created a make a table query(current meter reading) which contains one column called "meter read" , and I created a second make a table query(previous meter reading) which also contains "meter read" column, I linked those two make table queries to calculate the value difference between two date, how can I create a form to calculate diff between any two date?
I have created a login form and create user page form, the tblListofUsers has two columns, UserName and Password, on the log in form when a user enters username and password, it should be matched with the tbllistofusers if true then msgbox"Welcome" else Msgbox "wrong username or password", I have written following code but gives error
Private Sub Command5_Click() If DLookup("UserName", "tblListOfUsers", "UserName = " & Forms![loginpageForm]!User) And DLookup("Password", "tblListOfUsers", "Password = " & Forms![loginpageForm]!passworduser) Then MsgBox "You welcome" Else MsgBox "Wrong username or password" End If End Sub
i just created two forms which r so inter-rel. with each other 1. FormName : Invoice_SL Form controls which need to be copied to another form : a> PO No b> PO Date c>Dispatch Details d> - is a filtered list depending upon UID of Invoice_SL Form
2. formName : Challan_DLR Form fields are : ChallanID, Challan Date, PO no., PO Date, Dispatch Details list of items to be sent-- a filtered list depending upon UID of Invoice_SL form
now what i want: Just a command button in Invoice_SL Form to Open(pre-made form) Challan_DLR form and Copy-paste all these controls (same named) from Invoice_SL to Challan_DLR form
Have one form that contains values AssociatedProject and AssociatedRelease that need to be passed onto another form that opens with a new record. Have tried different variations based on what I read here and couldn't get them to work.
Initial form - frm_ViewList contains the values that I need to pass on and has a "Add" button to bring up the new form that also creates a new record. The add button contains the following:
Dim stDocName As String MyAssociatedProject = Me.AssociatedProject MyAssociatedRelease = Me.AssociatedRelease stDocName = "Frm:ManageQuestionsAnswersProc" DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, acNormal DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec
Then in the second form Frm:ManageQuestionsAnswersProc the following code is contained in the Before Insert:
Help. I know just enough about Access to get myself into trouble.
What I want to do is have a form where I enter a low work order # and a high work order # with a series of yes/no questions and then have that autofill a table with work order #s incrementally from the low value to the high value and attach all of the yes/no answers to each work order #.
How do I get the table to autofill from low to high work order #?
Thanks for any help in advance and type slowly. I'm not very bright.
I have a table containing line items which are appended to another table using Append Query. But in the table being appended to I have a field 'QuoteRef' and i need to append a value from a form into this field but am stuck how to do this.
I am new to VBA, and i need some help in my system..... basically i am creating a appointments Form, and in this i have some txt fields and a listbox which contains the available times ... What i want my form to do is that as the user enters the values in the form and the time selected, as clicking the "set Appointment" button it should add the values to the table.
I have included a word document of my form: Just as some help... Could you guyz help me with the coding... I am not at all good at coding! Thanx alot guys.. I really appreciate your help!!
I have a form full of cascading unbound combo boxes which allows me to assign companies and people to a project.I have a save button which writes the selected values to a table. To view the assignments when the record is later viewed I have placed a bound field behind the combo box.
I'm working on a table for work which will serve as a database of bins and the products currently in those bins, as follows:
ID Bin Amt Product 1 34 25 110001 2 33 15 200005 3 32 23 110003 etc.
Basically: employee A will use a form to update "Bin 34" (ID=1), with information (Amt, Product) until it is emptied by employee B and cleared using a separate form. No new records will be made or deleted, just the adjacent fields (Amt, Product) cleared and filled in and cleared again over and over.
What I'm trying to figure out is, when employee A clicks on the combo box on his/her form to select a Bin and enter information, how can I filter what is listed in the combo box to display only those bins which have no values under Amt & Product. The real-world risk of overwriting a bins fields before it has been cleared by employee B (who physically empties the bin) can be extremely high monetarily so I am trying to reduce that risk by eliminating it from the combo box until employee B has cleared those fields.
