I have set up a form that allows me to enter information on an item. This form is for initial entry, like an asset item. In this form I have a field for status of the item and the condition of the item.
Where I am having trouble is being able to bring the item up and change the status of the item if it is broke or damaged. I have the item as [label] and set as the primary key. and an item as [studentid] as a foreign key. I also would like to be able to query the different status'.
I am confident I can set queries up but I need to figure out how to recall the [Label] change the [status] and save it. The only other thing that I could hope for is to track then number of times the [status] was changed.
I have several buttons on a form and I want to set enabled = false on one of them when I open the form - that's fine
I have two txt fields - ReceiptNo and BankPaymtId if the both have a value I want to make the button enabled = True
This is the code I have used on the BankPaymentId On Dirty event
Private Sub BankPaymentId_Dirty(Cancel As Integer) If Me.[ReceiptNo] <> "" Then If Me.[BankPaymtId] <> "" Then Me.CreateOutlay.Enabled = True End If End If End Sub
This is the one for ReceiptNum on Dirty event
Private Sub ReceiptNum_Dirty(Cancel As Integer) If Me.[ReceiptNo] <> "" Then If Me.[BankPaymtId] <> "" Then Me.CreateOutlay.Enabled = True End If End If End Sub
I have a form with all the navigation keys and it also lists your own name which you logged in with. Value comes from a string called strUser.
Now i have made a query (based on tblUsers) that returns me the user that is logged in and his status and acces rights. Criteria comes from the label showing the username on the form. I managed to get the value of that checkbox set to true whenever he logs in through a query on the login screen.
Now, whenever the user quits the application i want the status changed. So that the checkbox is unchecked when the user quits. this way the administrator can see who is logged in and logged out. How do i get it to false when he logs out. Thanks in advance
I am working on a Student database for a school. Need changing the student status e.g. A student was enrolled in class Prep. and now promoted to grade 1. How do I solve the problem. I need this for a report (Student Details) Like on 1/1/2014 the student was enrolled in prep and on 1/1/2015 he/she was promoted to grade 1.
I have a subform with two fields [status] and [process], i am trying to get the backcolor of procces to change to red if the status field contains the text "expired".
I have tried vba. plced on the after update
if me.status = "expired" then me.process.backcolor = vbred else me.process backcolor = vbwhite end if this
Changes the color of the field [process] but also all process field colors to red even if the status field does not contain "expired".
I think conditional formatting is the way to go but i think i need an expression to complete this.
My list box will be used to populate a form, is it possible that once the item is dble-clicked, it reverts to a different color to let the user know it has already been selected once or can the row be locked once it has been selected?
I have created a multi-valued field "Product Category" that lookups data items from a linked table. So, the Data Type for the multi-valued field "Product Category" is Number.
Now I want to change the Data Type of "Product Category" from Number to Text, and make a value list that I can type values in and can provide the same data items as the linked table.
How to change item source for the multi-valued field from a linked table to a list that I can type in values? Is there a feature provided by MS Access 2007 can enable such a conversion?

In an access form, I have several checkboxes. There is one checkbox titled "Complete". The complete checkbox needs to be true only if all other "non master" checkboxes are true. If all of the non master checkboxes are not checked, I need the complete checkbox to be false. This is the code that I am currently using on the after update command:
If me.checkbox1 and Me.checkbox2=True then me.completed=True else me.completed=False end if
This works fine if there is no "and" in the if statement and the condition is based on the status of one checkbox as opposed to many (Also I have about 15 checkboxes that must be checked before the "complete" checkbox is true).
I have my main menu form that shows the current time and uses the OnTimerEvent for this. (Set to 1000) Issue is that when I open another form it keeps showing Calculating. It does not seem to affect performance but keeps the status bar from showing the control explanations.
I am trying to automate a membership status flag based on comparing today's date and a recorded expiry date. The expiry date control is on a sub-form. I have the following code in the OnLoad event of the master form:
Dim DateGap As Integer While Me.CurrentRecord < Me.Recordset.RecordCount If Not Me.NewRecord Then DateGap = DateDiff("y", Date, Forms!PersonalMasterF!MemberSubF.Form.MemberExpire ) Else DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext
[Code] .....
With debug pointing to the DateGap = statement I get the error 'Invalid use of Null'. As you can see, I've tried to trap any new records it might run into to avoid nulls in MemberExpire, and there are no null values in the MemberExpire field of the underlying table. I've also tried defining DateGap as Variant, which does not work at all.
I have a query that gets it's data from tblContacts. In this table is a yes/no field for archiving and the query gets only those records with a No in the field. The default is no. Next I have a form based on this query, which I am using to hold a set of command buttons which act on a contact chosen from an unbound list. So far so good but now I would like to add a command that changes the contact's status in the archived field of the table to Yes, so that I can use the form to view/edit, or email, or archive.
I have a table with a list of Students. While the academic year is in progress those students are in an "Active" status. Once the year is finished those students are moved into (hopefully) a "Passed" status or some other status that is not considered "Active".
Throughout the rest of the database I have many forms that refer to the Student Listing. As an example we have a Test so we select the Student performing the test using a Drop Down List and go from there.
I have set search criteria to the Drop Down List via the Combo Box's Query to only display active students and it works fine during the Academic Year. However if I have to review a test from a previous year then the Student Drop Down List no longer displays the name but their ID# (Primary Key) because the Student's status has now changed and no longer meets the query criteria.
Is there a way to use the Filter/Search Criteria to chose from a listing of Active Students but once selected it will display the Student name regardless of their status?
My database has a text field "Status" where the text is either, A, W, C. There is a form to update this field; currently it uses a standard Access created text field. The users want a checkbox which will show up as checked when the status is W, if the status is anything else, the checkbox will be blank. If the user clicks the checkbox within the form the status will be changed to W.
If [table.status] = 'W' then checkbox = 0 else checkbox = -1
We sometimes make an error in entering a stock code and have to change the code.
Our main table is = Investments01_tbl Other tables that use the same stock codes from the above table are = Alerts_Stocks = Investments01_tbl_SubForm
The table = Investments01_tbl_SubForm = can contain the same stock code many times. How can we create a query that can be used to enable us to change the stock codes in the 3 tables at the same time?
I have a form that simply lists the items: DEPARTMENT_NBR and DEPARTMENT_NAME
In the table: DEPARTMENT_TBL
When I edit the field DEPARTMENT_NBR and it is in error (must be between 01 and 99) I want to put out a message in a MSGBOX and SetFocus back on the DEPARTMENT_NBR.
I coded the MSGBOX with vbokonly and then DEPARTMENT_NBR.SetFocus, but after the message displays and enter is hit for the ok the cursor jumps to the DEPARTMENT_NAME on the current line. Is there a way to get the SetFocus to work properly on repeating items like this? I can never seem to get them to perform the same as they do on non-repeating items.
Thanks for your help.
HERE'S THE EXACT CODE: If IsNumeric(DEPARTMENT_NBR) = False Then If DEPARTMENT_NBR <> "00" Then MsgBox "DEPARTMENT NUMBER must between 01 and 99.", vbOKOnly DEPARTMENT_NBR.SetFocus GoTo DEPARTMENT_NBR_EXIT (exits the paragraph skipping other checks) End If End If
Also, is there a way to look at a specific item in a list like that? IE. I want to reference the 3rd row's DEPARTMENT_NBR. Thanks.
I am trying to change the button color on a subform if a related form data changes.Main form is products with a continuous subform with serial numbers of products i.e, serial number, location, price and a button to add addtional issues if there are any for this particular serial number (this will open up another form related to the serial number so I can add an issues if there are any). The reason I would like the button to be a different color is so I can quickly see if there are any additional notes been added to the serial number. Just in case you may ask why not add the field to the continuos form is that the issues and be quite lengthy and there may be lots of serial numbers on the form
I have a form "WorksheetList" that has a list of records upon which when one selects a record a new form opens "Worksheet" with the data from "WorksheetList" everything seemed to be working fine then suddenly I get the error "Method 'item' of object 'forms' failed"... Here's my code:
I want to select an item in a listbox that has a specified value when I open the form that contains this listbox. Most I've found describes selecting records based on their index value but I want to select an item according to the actual value that's displayed in the listbox. For example, the first number below is the index value, the 2nd is the number I'm interested in and the 3rd is another column in the listbox:
0 1 12345 1 2 33256 2 4 36280
I'm using the OpenArgs property to pass the value (a long integer primary key) to the opening form but I don't know the syntax or correct terminology for ensuring the specified row is selected in the listbox. At present, using the above example, if I want to select the row with the value 2, it's selecting the 3rd row rather than the 2nd.
I have a list box on a form and I would like the user to have the possibility to add another item not from the list into the table using a command button. How can I do that?
I have a combo box that won't allow me to select an item. The box is on a subform. When viewing only the subform, it works. When viewing the subform from the main form, it won't work.
I am trying to create a form for a query so that I can filter on a chosen record and have the data presented in a more reader friendly format: the idea being that I have the common data show once in the form header and the rest show in the detail section (kind of like a form with subform type)
First I tried using the form wizard to create a Tabular layout form which I could have easily customised, but I am unable to use this because I get an error message telling me the wizard cannot create my form due to me choosing too many fields.
In my next attempt, I elected to use the Multiple Item form option, which seems to work OK but presents the following problems:
1) It has not included all of the data fields in my query... though it looks like I can add these manually 2) I am unable to reorganise the text boxes and labels the way I would like, as they all seem to be locked together Is there a setting somewhere that I can change to stop this from happening?
I have a list box contains 10 times . I have UP and Down buttons to move item up and down. My VBA works only if i set listbox multiselect property to 'None'. For the multiselect=simple option it throws error like in valid use of null in this line of code :
sText = lbfNames.Column(0, iIndex)
My VBA
Code:
Private Sub cmdUP_Click() Dim sText As String Dim iIndex As Integer iIndex = lbfNames.ListIndex 'check: only proceed if there is a selected item
Is it possible to remove an list item from a combo box list after it has been used.
What I am trying to do is use a combo box that has a list of questions, after the user selects a question from the combo box list and answers the question when they reselect the combo box that question will not be seen again till the form is reloaded.
My form utilizes five list boxes. The user must choose from each of the five list boxes in order to filter out a specific product from a products table.Every time the user makes a selection, the next listbox is filtered, and set focus to. Each listbox often contains more than 1 choice within it, however, there are a few cases where there is only 1 choice to be made.
How can i determine with code when a particular listbox only has 1 choice so that I can have the choice be made automatically and then set the focus to the next listbox in the series?
