Forms :: How To Create A Query On Lookup Of Multiple Values
Oct 19, 2013
I wanted to create a form where you can select multiple values from the table "years" and on a button it would open a query displaying all the records in "students" in those years selected.
Is there anyway to have a single field in a table which is populated via the use of a lookup onto another table, but allowing multiple value selection out of the lookup table and populating those into the field...
For example
Table 1 is customer details Table 1 field 3 = areas of interest
Table 1 field 3 is populated via a lookup into Table 2 interests
Table 2 has 4 records
Sport Household Motoring Family
I want to be able to select 1 or more of the Table 2 values and populate them into Table 1 Field 3....
I have a database and on the main table one of the columns is "Status". The values in that column can be either "Worked, Unworked, or Overdue".
I would like to be able to create a form so that the user can run a query and select which Status' they want to see. For example maybe they only want to see Unworked and Overdue so they can select those and run the query.
I am trying to do a lookup from a field from one of my databases (DB1) onto another field in (DB2).... I have been using excel to do vlookups but a report that I do weekly I do atleast 7 lookups for the past weeks... So I am trying to find a way in access to do lookups and save those lookups each time i run the report... Do I have to create the query and make the ID the primary key on both the databases and then create a relationship?
Hi, not sure if this is possible or the most economical approach but here goes:
I have a lookup table (tblHolidays) with a list of holiday dates (fieldname "HolidayDate") in it.
I need an update query that can check all "StartDate" values on a table called "tblMasterLog" and where this date matches the ones on "tblHolidays", will add 1 day to the "StartDate" and then keep repeating until there are no more dates to change.
I have three large source tables imported into my database. I have created queries to retrieve relevant values from fields in each source table which feeds into my form. Each field on my form that is connected to the relevant query is a lookup field. For example, one field called "Supplier_Name" another called "Supplier_Code" and a third called "Route_Number".
Needless to say each of my lookup fields are very long. I am trying to filter my search based upon the selection from the previous Lookup field. How I can filter a lookup field's value based upon the previous lookup field selection? Each Supplier has a code and assign route(s) and I have already established these relationships.
Firstly, is it possible to hide unchecked values in a listbox? I have a user with several roles and I want to only show the ticked roles in the listbox.
Secondly, can you create a hyperlink on listbox values? i.e, if I click on "Manager" in the roles listbox, it follows that to another form and opens the record about managers?
I have a split database and need a field (Combo type) in the table to lookup values from a query in the front end. How do I do this as it doesn't see the querys because the front and back end are split?
We have a form, which has a field linked to a "Recipients" table through a lookup. The field is bound to the recipient's name, but the lookup displays additional columns for user to identify the correct recipient in the case of duplicate names.
The "Payment" table's Recipient field only displays the recipient's name. So where duplicates occur, it's impossible to know which recipient is the correct one associated to a payment.
I would like to add an additional field to the "Payment" table called "RecipientIDNo". I need a way to auto-populate this field, based on the already existing Recipient field. Is this possible?
Why I just don't modify the recipient field on our payment form to be bound to the user ID number, there are two reasons.
(1) The field is linked to too many other reports and queries at this point. I believe it could cause an enormous amount of work to modify. (2) the form likes to display whatever it is bound to. There may be a workaround for this, but I'm not aware of it and don't want the form displaying a number instead of a recipient name.
I am trying to create a lookup wizard to record the number of people who attend a regular event. I have a table recording the names, surnames and DOB of registered members and a number of other tables for regular events we hold. Previously people have been manually adding the names of attendees and of course there have been inconsistencies in the data. I want them to look up the names from the table of registered members. I have been using the lookup wizard, but it is only displaying the first name in a string. I need it to display id, first name, surname and DOB in a table. I also want to be able to type in the first letter and then pick from the list.
I work for a Local Council and trying to streamline the DA process a bit by using Access. I have two tables.
tbl_Conditions which has ConditionID(PKey) and ConditionDescription Fields.
tbl_DA has the field DA (PKey) followed by numerous conditions for simplification let's assume I have only five conditions each with there own field. SC363, SC449, SC106, S105, SC32.
For each DA in tbl_DA I go through and if condition SC363 applies I input SC363 if it does not apply I input NO. This is repeated for other conditions.
Everything above this point I have working like a charm. However from here on in I am seriously struggling been stuck for two days with no success!!
I would then like to create a new table ready for merging into word. The table would be the following
tbl_DAMerge would have fields DA (Pkey), SC1ConditionDescription, SC2ConditionDescription....., SC5ConditionDescription.
The condition descriptions would be coming from tbl_Conditions the description would only be inputted if the condition applied otherwise it would be left blank.
I have tried Dlookup, and update queries with multiple joins but it always comes back doing something random.
Am I correct in thinking the only way to have a combo box with different values in each column is to create a table and then bind the combo box to the column you are referring to if you want it to represent a value from another.
For example if I have a combo box with the words January, February etc can that combo box have a corresponding month number value in a separate column (this combo would be derived from a list) or would I need to create a table holding both the month names and numbers and then bind to the name value for selection but use the month number value?
The reason I ask is I wasn't sure if for every type of list I wanted with multiple column values, I would need to create a table.
On a click of a button from the Form the following should execute. I have created 50 queries. Each query has more than 1000 recordsets.
1. I want to count the number of rows for each query (50 queries = 50 different values) 2. create one table and populate those 50 different values into the table 3. Using those values in the table; a Stack column chart has to be created.
In simple explanation; on a click of a button the data should be processed and chart has to be created.
I am trying to create a query to append new records from my NEW database into my old excel database.....
The old DB has 4-5 extra tabs that the NEW database does not have so when I append, in those extra columns the new database will just have blank records since the column doesn't exist.
Usually I do a append query in design view. but sometimes it gets funny because it creates duplicates...
How would I go about it, so its quicker and persistent like creating a macro excel.
I have a lookup value in a table, and I would like to remove all values of the lookup value from vba. How can i do it via vba? i've been trying to do it in a query but i have always some errors and i can not remove them.
I want create combination of navigation forms, navigation forms with two horizontal level and vertical level that link to navigation buttons in second level of horizontal navigation.
I'm trying to create a query that can sum values of different fields in different tables...Can I sum values of a field and put the result into another field in different table?
I have two tables which are in a one-to-many relationship (the example I am dealing with is a mother and her children).
I want one form for the mother, with fields such as date of birth, and when you click Add Record I want the mother table to be updated with the new record.
However on this form I also want a field for "number of children" and when the Add Record button is clicked, not only does the table containing all the mothers get a record added, I would like XX records added to the children table where XX is the number of children entered into the form. These should have separate IDs but retain a common field that identifies the mother.
I've developing a QA/QC database for testing chemical products and I'm stuck on the best way to continue with adding multiple records by using one form.
I have two tables:
tblProductSpecs with two primary keys, "ProductName" and "TestName"
tblResults with three primary keys, "ProductName", "TestName", and "LotNumber" and a number field named "Value"
A product can have multiple tests associated with it, e.g:
ProductName - TestName XXX - Density, pH ZZZ - Density YYY - % soluble, cloud point , freeze point This is my tblProductSpecs table
I want to store the "Value" of each "TestName" of the "LotNumber" of that "ProductName" in tblResults by a form. (All TestName values are number values).
I want a form where I can select "ProductName" and have the "TestName"s displayed for that "ProductName". Then I want to store the value of that "TestName" for that "ProductName" and "LotNumber" in tblResults.
The problem is that each test per product per lot number is a record and I can't figure out a way to create multiple records from one form.
I am trying to create a query that takes values from a search form and provides records. I was having issues with getting results when some boxes on the form were left blank. I found a solution to that and it worked with a small number of fields. However when I make the full form query (about 8-10 fields) and run it says the query is too complex. I wrote the sql as I could not get designer to do what I wanted. Attached is the sql that works and that which is "too complex".
I would like to make a form that can insert more than one row at one time. Something like add first column, then ask the user how many of the second row they would like, then prompt them for what is in the second row then add the information for the rest of the columns and have a separate row for each of the second column. So every row with have the same first column, but from there have a different row for how ever many desired in second column. So lets i enter for the first column, ABC, then I wanted 3 rows with ABC, then prompts me for the rest of the information for each of those rows separately.Something looking like this, oh and it would be updating an already existing table.
EDIT: I would also like to know if it is possible so it does it in ranges and dont have to do it manually like you enter the first column then enter a range for the second column and a bunch of rows are made with each value in between the range that was specified.
I'm working to create a staffing database that houses changes to staffing week over week.
I have one primary table, the "empMaster" table, that stores the employee's name, contact information, etc. I have other individual tables for noting which employee reports to which manager, what their business title is, what group they're in, their training history, etc.
Once I've populated the empMaster table with employee information, I want a form that allows me to update each of the other tables IF there as a change. Some weeks will have a manager change, some only a business title change, some a group change, some a training change, some all of the above. The problem I run into is that I will sometimes process hundreds of changes a week, sometimes only 10-20 so I almost have to use datasheet view for mass edits. I'm relatively new to Access and I'm having a hard time getting my form to allow this level of flexibility and to update all fields needed.
When I build a form that includes more than two tables (let's say I want to update a Manager and a Business Title), the form will not work and populates nothing. I believe it's because Access wants there to be an existing record to match to across all three tables and there will not always be.
How do you create a form that is not tied to one single record source? In other words, I want to be able to select the record source that it updates. I have a bunch of tables that have the same data structure but are separated due to geographical nature among other reasons. Is there a way to do this?
What the database currently has: A payment entry form consistenting of many fields. This form populates a payment entry table. Some of the fields within the payment entry form are linked to other tables and queries for data (such as a recipient list).
What the database now needs: A group payment option. Should ten people attend a dinner, the total cost needs to be divided among the attendees, and then the payment entry form table populated with ten different entries and the subdivided cost of the dinner per person.
My thoughts: The most ideal thing to do is to have a hidden recipients window show up when the user indicates that this is for a group event. The user could then add all the additional recipients (beyond the primary which is already collected on the form), and the total amount for the meal. The database would then generate an entry for each recipient listed, dividing the total cost among them, and then simply duplicating the rest of the information as is.
