View RepliesSo I'm making a database for an office and I'm having a little trouble getting the information linked together. This is my first access project.
Here's the information:
Desktops_TBL
Desktop ID (PK)
Location (FK)
Serial Number
Product Number
Operating System
etc

How I want it to work:
-New users or equipment is entered via a new entry form and stored in the respective table with a dummy Location (i.e. "Backstock"). This part I understand how to do
-To assign a user and equipment to a location, I want there to be a master form for that location. In that master form, there are subforms displaying the current pieces of equipment attributed (if there are any) to that location. A combo box displays the possible choices, and choosing a choice attributes the equipment to that location.
I have the form with subforms set up. The number of records corresponds to the number of locations in the office. Going through the records displays the correct information of attributed equipment in the subforms.
Where I am stuck: What I want is for the user of the database to be able to click on the Desktop serial number combo box, choose a different record, and have it assign the Location from the main form to the Desktop Location FK so that they link. When I try to do this, it writes a new blank record in Desttop_TBL, assigning the Desktop ID to the PC Serial Number spot, but that's it.
I have a main form and 2 subform. The first subform has a field for %. And the 2nd subform has series of checkbox (Checklist or error made by the student)
Because every checkbox will lower the mark from 100 to x points per checkbox.So, I want that, if the field is not set to 100 yet, then they will not be able to check any box in the subform.I tried, before update of the subform, etc, but none work properly.
I have a form called frmSearch with an option group called grpSearch ,a combobox called comboNyaba and subform called subform_CasesSearch has a checkbox called CaseClosed
The combobox filter the subform based on option group choice and value in textbox called NyID ... it works fine except that if the combobox is empty it give me error the code in main form i put it on Load and on current

Is it possable to create a sub form using a single table. I can create one using 2 tables but am not sure on how to or if it can be done using 1 table. All i can find in forum is about multiple tables.

This is locking the Main form records is there a way to code this so that the fields on the subform are also locked when the checkbox is ticked?
I have a Project form, which holds StockArtProduction_Subform in datasheet view. I need for them to be able to click on the ID in the StockArtProduction_Subform datasheet and it open a single view form (StockArtProduction) with the correlating ID.
Ideally, it would also work for new entries in the StockArtProduction_Subform, but the StockArtProduction form would have to "auto populate" (did I use it right?) with the ID of the currently open Project form.
I have a form with a checkbox (Is a Work Permit required?)and a date field (Work Permit Expiration date). I want the date field to be dimmed when the form opens. I want the focus to go to the checkbox first. The checkbox asks whether a youth is required to have a Work Permit. if the user checks the box (the youth needs a Work Permit), then I want the date field to be undimmed and available to the user to put in the Work Permit Expiration date.
I've tried using the checkbox afterupdate property to enable/disable the Work Permit Expiration date field, but no luck. What am I doing wrong? How do I make this work?

I have about 36 names and each of those names appears anywhere from 2 7 times each. Each name entry has a comment1 and a comment2.What I would like to do is create a form that allows me to choosea name and the display the comments 1 and comments 2 in text boxes.
I have made the form to allow me to choose a name and it shows one of the comment1 and one of teh comment2 in the adjacent text boxes as planned but, I want all the comment1s for Bob to show in the text box for comment1 and all of the comment2s for Bob to show in the Comment2 text box.I believe I need to concatenate the results in the comment1 and comment2 boxes, but I do not know where or how I would do that.
I am going round in circles here; I have a form which has certain text fields that need to be populated before a user can click a command button named 'Record Movement' that opens up another form. What I want to do is disable the 'Record Movement' button until these fields are populated. I am using Access 2010.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a form called PAF_Assignment and on this form there are many textboxes for editing. After all fields are entered, the user clicks on a button and this button populates the PAF_Issued_Date field with the actual date.
Then I want to disable (enable=False) all fields on this form once there is a date on PAF_Issued_Date as I don't want any user to make any changes after submitting it, although the user would still be able to read the information submitted.
I have tried the following...

I have a table form (I want to have many records available in the screen)
I want to disable fields based on a value of another (main) field.
The fields are check boxes, so the automate formatting is not available.
I use the VBA code below:

I have a table in which there are approximately 15k records. The name field has approximately 2500 unique values. I need to search the table for multiple names and return the results from the table. This would then be used as a report. Due to the users being very novice, a form is needed for the search.
Example:

My knowledge of forms is basic, however, I can be a quick learner if on the right track.
Im constructing a form with check boxes next to names. Id like to have the checked names input serially into a single table field like:
IssuedTo
Name1, Name2, Name3
There are 8 possible Names. Is there way to do this without a long complicated If-Else-Then function?
I have a form called frm002_PAF_MonitoringMAIN and on this form I have a subform called frm002_PAF_Monitoring. The subform has a button to another form for contact details called Contact_Details. The Contact_Details form opens with the details of the person who I have selected on frm002_PAF_Monitoring. There are some fields on frm002_PAF_Monitoring that I would like to be populated on Contact_Details when opened, like FirstName and LastName. i have a form with a subform. the first line of the subform is supposed to mirror some of the data filled in the form. as soon as the appropriate data is filled in the main form, i would like the first line of the subform to reflect this sama data. i also want this first line of the subform to be disabled so that users cannot have different data between the main form and this first line....
is this possible? how would i disable just this first line? is there any function to disable it?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm having difficulty controlling data entry to (disabling) a subform when a new record is being added to the parent form. I can set the subform to be disabled if there is no index value in the parent form (this allows the subform to function for existing records) but then the user has to create the parent record and move off of that record and then return to it in order to add child records to the subform. This is basically a create new records/data entry problem and I'm feeling pretty stupid. There must be a way to handle this...

I am trying to develop a service dispatch DB and would like to have a print workorder control button. I have it working OK until I enter subsequent records into the subform. OR..am I better off creating a report for the specified workorder? IF so, how? Any direction would be appreciated.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow can I get the value from a field in one table (in the sub form) to copy/insert into a field in another table (in the main form) when adding a new record?The main form and sub form are linked using parent/child linking, and the sub form is in a tab.I have table A (Visit Dates) in the main form which is used to record the date of a visit to a church. Table B (Quarters and Peals) is used to record an event that took place at that church during that visit. Note that not all visits in table A require a record to be created in table B - but half or more do.
In tables A and B I have a field called "QuarterOrPealID" and these are both primary keys, though the field in table B is set to 'no duplicates' and in table A it's set to 'duplicates allowed', as table A has its own auto number/pk. They are both linked in the relationships.
So, when I add a new record to table A using the main form, I might then need to click on the tab in the sub form to create a new record in table B, which has to be linked to the same record in table A. When the "QuarterOrPealID" auto number/pk is generated in the sub form (table B), I need that value to update to the "QuarterOrPealID" field of the main form (table A), so that when I'm viewing these records the form pulls all the information nicely together.
I am currently stuck on set focus property. I have a main from with nested subform. I am trying to move the focus from last field of the subform to another field on the main form.

I have written code to look up a value in a table that then enables or disables a subform in my main form. The code works, but I know it is now as efficient as it can be. The main problem is that I have multiple values that determine if the subform should be enabled or disabled. I would like to use an IN statement but I'm pretty sure this doesn't work for Dlookup. Below is an example of the code I currently have:

Like I said, this works fine, but I am concerned if I need to add more items to look up and the stability of the code in general.
I am doing this all as a bound form
My main form got a field named 'PersonID'.
My subform also got a field called 'PersonID'
The subform 'PersonID' populates however the mainform 'PersonID' does not.
I just need to write code, or maybe do something that will copy the number from subform and paste it in the mainform field, maybe at the click of my save button.
If I have the following Code to disable a field based on the value of another field:
