I need saving 2 input fields into a table. Here is the situation
tableA studentID Name
tableB studentID Name Course Fee
I have a form with a drop down list, to select studentID from tableA. I selected a dropdown from studentID to display Name, and that I tied to txtName
I then type in txtCourse and txtFee whatever value I want, example:
txtCourse = English txtFee = 50.00
Now, I'm able to transfer studentID and Name from tableA and save to tableB, and delete the record I just selected in tableA.
The issue is, I can't save the txtCourse, txtFee as I don't know how.
Here is what I have
Private Sub Insert_Click() Dim strSQL As String strSQL = "INSERT INTO tableB SELECT studentID, Name FROM tableA WHERE studentID = '" & txtstudentID & "'" CurrentDb.Execute strSQL
strSQL = "DELETE FROM tableA WHERE studentID = '" & txtstudentID & "'" CurrentDb.Execute strSQL End Sub
I'm stuck on how to save txtCourse and txtFee into tableB where I have Course and Fee fields.
I want to be able to have two text boxes on my form that firstly concatenate the values inputted and then saves this string to a field.
It's a "new record" form that generates a new record in table "tblUsers".
txtB1 & txtB2 and the text boxes would represent First Name and Last Name.
But it can't be allowed to be saved as the acctual names. - Insead I'm looking for a way to take the first two or three letters of the name and concatenate these into one string of text and save that string to the field tblUsers.ConcatenatedName.
I.E.txtB1:"Carl" txtB2:"Chapelle"
would generate "CarCha" and save that from the form to the field ConcatenatedName in tblUsers.
Btw, the values form txtB1 and txtB2 (Carl & Chapelle) cant be saved anywhere either!
Found the answer myself;
create a txtB3
And set that source to Left([txtB1];3) & " " & Left([txtB2];3)
I have created a query with the parameter for the Domain field. however on the form the user enters this information via a drop down menu. i was just wondering could the parameter box be set to a drop down box as well to save the user entering in the full Domain field name?
I want to save input into an Array, and then show this information.To enter data I am using a textBox. After "Enter" it should save info into the Array.If textBox is empty, it should show information. I would like to use a textbox too, that shows all the Array after pressing Enter.
textbox on the Form: txtInput, txtOutput..I have the following code, but I am not able to get it work:
Code:
Option Compare Database Public Sub Form_Load() Dim Data(10) As Integer Dim i As Integer Dim j As Integer
I need to refresh listbox field (Total_price) situated on parent form. My sub form is called "Lines_form". I want to sum values of all lines for column "price". Result of calculation I want see in parent form in field "Total_price". My parent form is called "Main_form".
On "price" field settings I used AfterUpdate event : Me.Parent!Total_price.Requery
I see result in parent form, but value isn't saved to table and I can't use it in next calculations.
I need refresh/requery/save patern form. I try this code:
I have a button that when clicked moves a piece of data to a subform. I have put the whole sequence below. The trouble I am having is :
- The event will not happen until the form is saved. I think this is because fkTaskID is a new record (auto) number which hasn't generated yet. - If I force the form to save it does work but then I get an error on the INSERT command when not all required fields of the form are complete (see sample in second part below).
Is there a way to save the record and maintain the integrity of the form input - and still have this code work?
BUTTON CODE ========== Private Sub BTNAddReasonRw_Click() Dim dIndex As Long DoCmd.SetWarnings False For dIndex = 0 To Me.LISTReworkReasonsUnselected.ListCount - 1
Is there a way to setup the format on fields to only allow text inputs, no numbers wanted. I know I can do this at the table level but is some cases numbers are ok. So I want to code it so I can control when numbers are ok and when there not.
I would like to know what the best way to input a duplicate record is with the exception of 1 field that is used to correspond with the proper parent of the record?
Here is an example of the problem, We receive a letter with pertinent information that corresponds to 30 of our facilities. I would need to enter this 30 times so that when the users of this information run their reports for their facility I can ensure that the letter would be referenced.
I need to create a field in an input form that is simply the concatenation of two other text fields. I have tried all sorts of things, but when I look at the data in the table that field.
I have a field called ID that I want to be created like this:
=Format([UniqueID],"00000") & "-" & [Mosque]
This works well in my output fields, but does not work the same way on the input form. It needs to be based on the currently input values from the current record. Anyone have any ideas?
I just started my project database on my subject ITM4. My Database is entitled PCExpress Inventory System. I would like to know how to input (Text) in a Field where the Data Type is (Number) just like the North Wind.
I would like to enter a couple of alphanumeric groups into a field on an input form. After I enter an alphanumeric group, I hit the enter and the data will add into the field and refresh to empty box ready for next entry. If I continue to enter another group and hit enter, the next group will be added to original field with a comma and a space in between. build the VBA in after update event to accomplish the task.
I have a form in Access2000 with 5 text fields which get transferred to the table for each new record. Is there a way i can "LOCK" one field so that once the user has input that data it never changes until closed. I can already lock the field but once i create a new record the field then goes blank.
After I enter data into one field in a record I would like the form to save the record when I move to another field in the same record. It seems that the record is only saved when I exit it entirely. Is there a way to save a record when moving between fields in that record? Can this be done without using an Event Procedure for each field?
I an trying to create a data entry form (IndividualsEntryFm) to input data for fields such as (First Name),(Birthdate) etc., these to be saved to the (IndividualsTbl)
I also have another table (NamesTbl) which has family names etc. The two tables are linked by a (MainID) field. I want a combo box on the individualsEntryFm so that I can select the family name. Then I wish the empty fields for the IndividualsTbl to be available to enter data.When I press the save button I then want this data saved, together with the MainID from the combo box to the IndividualsTbl.
I have set the IndividualsTbl with a (PersonID) field as an auto number each individual therefore has a unique PersonID but may well share the MainID. I'm trying to link many people to the same address.
From a table I want a text field which has a path to a file to be copied automatically into a another field of the same table with a hyperlink text type...
Hello everyone, I have been trying to calculate the number of working days a person has off sick between two dates.I was aware of how to calculate the difference between two dates using datediff, this was not quite hat i needed. after much experimentation and a little searching I came across this site that has I would recommend to other beginners to use as a query and a module.
http://www.mvps.org/access/datetime/date0006.htm
I have a calculated field that uses this function to work out the number of days, My question is, Is it worth me saving this calculated field physically in my table instead of in the query?
The reason for this is that im only with company for limited time and others will be building reports in the future and would prob prefer to build reports on tables rather than queries. If so, how can I go about setting the field value to that of the query result?
i have probleb with the comboboxes if i change cobobox value, then comes a error :to make changes to this field, first save the record the combobox code is
Private Sub CatecoryID_AfterUpdate() On Error GoTo Err_CatecoryID_AfterUpdate Dim strFilter As String strFilter = "Products.CatecoryID = " & Me!CatecoryID Me!ProductID = DLookup("ProductID", "Products", strFilter) Exit_CatecoryID_AfterUpdate: Exit Sub Err_CatecoryID_AfterUpdate: MsgBox Err.Description Resume Exit_CatecoryID_AfterUpdate
So I have this relatively simple problem: I need to create a button that once clicked will open the Save As dialog box and allow the user to save a copy of the current database where he wishes. The filename should contain todays date in DDMM format along with some pre-set text e.g. DDMM PresetText.
I added a new field to a table, and saved the table. When the table is reopened, the new field is not there! I thought perhaps I forgot to save the field, so I tried adding the field again. When saving, the error said, "cannot save; duplicate field name".
If I go to toolsoptions and click the "show system objects" the field will show up??
Do you think the best course of action is to import all the objects into a new db and try again?
Hi. I have urgent report to send and thefield must be numeric and read 999999.99 but as integer or even double, it won't do it. Double with 2 decimal places set, gives 999999.00
I have a form which calculates alot of numbers. Im trying to figure out how to save the calculation to a table field. Is this possible? Can someone help me with a solution please
In ContactIDForm it contain 1 textbox name 'TextBox' with Button Name 'Btn'
In ContactIDForm there is only 1 Text Box ContactIDTextBox and 1 Button. User Enters ID in TextBox and On Button Click Event it should check data from TextBox in Table name (ContactDetailTable) in field ContactID and if there is record matching, ContactInfoForm should Open else NewContactForm should open with ContactIDTextBox value in it.
