Forms :: Increase Maximum Characters Allowed In Expression Of Macro Setvalue Action
Apr 23, 2013
Is there a way to increase the maximum characters allowed in an expression of a macro setvalue action ?
I have an expression in a macro setvalue action that adds multiple form textbox values. I need to change the form name from "RATING ENGINE 2" to "E RATING ENGINE 2". When I do this, I exceed the maximum characters allowed in the expression. Is there a way I can rename "RATING ENGINE 2" without this problem. The expression is as follows:
I am building a purchase requisition (PR) database.
The tables are (simplified) as follows:
Table1 - tbl_PRList - contains only 3 fields with one of these fields being the "PR No". Table2 - tbl_PRData - contains all the item data, also with a field "PR No".
The intent of the "item entry" form is to add items to the latest PR that has been generated.
So, whenever an item that is to be placed on the new PR, you type in the item description, qty, etc in the form and then you press a button that saves this item to the main 'data' table (Table1). What I would like to do is, "on click" of this button, I'd like this record, prior to it moving to the next record, to set the value of the PR No field in Table 1 to be the same as the DLast value of the Table2 table.
It has been a month and I'm still 'stuck' on my Microsoft Access lessons due to a peculiar error. I have a video of the error, but it won't let me post a link until I have 10 posts. When I create an action button and then scroll at all, the button jumps in size 50% to the right and down, but this extra space can't be edited. Clicking on the 'extra space' is like clicking the background.
I have tried
1. Reinstalling Office 365 2. Reinstalling my graphics card drivers (Using a GTX 560ti SLIx2) 3. Manually entering the size for the buttons in the button properties (still increases in size)
I have a project where the schedule calls for a web-enabled database for 100+ users to merge five separate systems into one. If I can't get past this problem, I can't continue my lessons.
I'm using A2003 (yes, still). An accounting type form requires the "Type" be entered as either (numeric) 1, 11, or 2. On the same form, one of the three Yes/No fields must be checked as confirmation.
My hope is that I can use the "SetValue" action in a macro.
My first attempt (to set the "Assiniboine" field to "Yes" or "On"):
The default value for the "Type" field would normally be 1 (but that presumes the user will not skip past it without confirming it) so I have no default value.
The other two Yes/No fields would also be Set by the same logic: (if Type=11, [Bank]=Yes) (if Type=2, [PettyCash]=Yes)
Alternatively, I've tried the reverse approach: If [Assiniboine]=Yes, SetValue of [Type] to 1 so far without success. I'm not using VBA, since the bookkeeper changes from year to year and there is no Administrator. Although the computer has A2010, and can run an .mdb file with macros, successfully, making changes within A2010 produces an 'embedded macro' that isn't readable in A2003.
I have set up a form to use for entering and specifying report criteria. I followed the instructions from general Access help. Everything worked fine in MS Access 2000. Now, I've transferred the database to a computer using MS Access 2003 and I get and error that says, "You entered an expression that has an invalid reference to the property Visible. The property may not exist or not apply to the object you specified." If I change the Macro for the "OK" button from Action="SetValue", Item="[Visible]", and Expression="No" to Action="SetValue", Item="[Forms]![frmParameterQuery].[Visible]", and Expression="False", which I though may be the correct way to enter this for the newer 2003 version of Access, then I get a different error message that reads, "You don't have the license required to use this ActiveX control. You tried to open a form containing an OLE Object or an ActiveX control or you tried to create an ActiveX control. To obtain the appropriate license, contact the company that provides the licensed OLE Object or ActiveX control" Please help!
I want to run a macro which is having three action queries from the another database when i click the button from my current database. I am using Access2010.
Ok. I have a database which tracks the sales and wherabouts of my artwork. Mostly I sell works on a sale or return basis, so I have a form which finds the delivery and opens the delivery details in a subform. This way I can tick off individual items in the delivery as they sell.
I also sell things outright. However, when I am paid for these sales, I want to be able to tick a 'sold' check box in the main form which then automatically fills in the date sold field (on both form an table) as the current date for all the items in that delivery, i.e. I want to tick the box once in the form causing the date to be entered into each record in the subform automatically.
I have tried making a command button on the form with a SetValue macro. I cannot get this to work with a date (maybe I have got the expression wrong) and also it only works with the first record on the subform.
Can anyone solve my problem or do I just have to be patient and enter each date individually?
I am currently using the SetValue function from within a macro to set the value of one text box to the value of another. It works fine under full version but when I use it under Runtime which is where the final application will be run from, it brings up the Halt box and will not continue the macro. Does anyone know what can/cannot be done within Runtime. Is it just the same as A full version but without Design functions or are some other functions removed. I am painstakingly having to go through all the vba code that I wrote in full version and I am having to change so many things in order for it to work with Runtime. This is a real pain the backside! Any thoughts would be huuuugely appreciated.
Hello everybody. I made a small access program. When I run a macro I get a error message saying that the macro can only run 20 times. I tried to solve this problem by having one macro calling another macro, but it does not work. Anybody any idea how to solve this problem. As attched file I send the program in ZIP format. If you want me to send it in not ziped, please tell me. OK how can I send attachements here. I don't see it. So please tell me if you want me to send it to you by mail. My address is bvdhaegen@gmx.de If you go on record 12 and click on refresh, you'll see the problem poping up. Thank you all for your help.
I have inserted a function via a module at the beginning of a Macro using the RunCode action:
Function Msgbox_Yes_No() Dim Response As Integer Response = MsgBox(prompt:="Select 'Yes' or 'No'.", Buttons:=vbYesNo) If Response <> vbYes Then End If End Function
However, it doesnt stop the macro from continuing on its way to delete a load of records if the user chooses no.
My users do a fair bit of copy/paste from any number of sources.
How do I force the paste action to strip out any hidden characters? Now I realize that a return and a space are hidden characters, so how do I strip out everything but the ones that I want?
Why when I set up a macro with a PrintOut action does it always prompt me to "Save As" before it prints? I have a default printer set up in the system, but it still asks to "Save As." It does print after.
I have a Macro setup and SendObject is one of the Actions. It is setup to send an existing report. Is there a way to insert a fieldname from that report into the Subject line of the e-mail that is sent? That would be great, instead of having the same subject line for every e-mail, using the date or something like that. Please let me know. Thanks.
This error occurs at the OutputTo line. This code is part of an user form with a button “save as PDF”. When this code is run, the report is visible as an example (as meant to be) on the screen. The code stops at the OutputTo line.
When I use DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, acFormatPDF, StrDocumentName,, False the problem still exists.
I tried to save the report manually by Preview > Export > PDF. The preview is OK, saving as PDF results in the same error 2501. This may lead to the conclusion that this problem is not caused by the VBA code.
I verified whether user write rights are OK, and whether a default printer is available. Both are OK. The report consists of 1 page. When this very same application is used with Access 2010, everything functions as expected.
I am having issues with the SetValue macro. Basically, my database is for HR and uses a series of forms to enter a new hire, and to export this new hire to excel for a data upload. The weird thing is that it worked before, then all of a sudden, it gave me error 2950 while trying to run a macro which had a few SetValue functions.
I went to another form to see if that one worked w/ SetValue (because the database is trusted in my system), and it did. So my problem is that I'm receiving error 2950 (trust issues) in one form, but not receiving the same error, from the same function, on another form.
I have cut and pasted a procedure to enable me to display pictures on a form and somehow got to be where I am right now with something that sort of works. Dont ask me how I got this thing working because I have no clue. The fact that it works is truly a miracle of sorts.
There 3 issues which I cannot get sorted out with my extremely limited access knowledge
Firstly, when I start up my database I get a Security warning VBA Macro which never happened before. I think this has to do with the picture procedure that I copied from the supplied site. As I know I should not have any macros in my system, there is probably one now embedded in there somewhere. If this is the correct line of thinking, can you please help me get rid of it.
The second and more irritating issue is when I load my default form: Frm_Contacts_Details_All_Full_Page I get the following error
Access cant find the field Picture_Location referred to in your expression.
I have figured out that this must be in an expression on the form properties somewhere, but Ill be dammed if I can find it. Please help!
And lastly: Why is it that I can only open Frm_Pictures in the default view whereas all the other created forms, I can open and then select the design view.?
If these problems can be solved by you, I will gladly send you the shell of the database so that you can see what I am actually talking about here. Thanks In advance
I have an asset database I am designing to manage our computer inventory and assets.
I am trying to get a DLookup to work with one of my forms that will auto-populate some of the fields depending on what is entered in to the ProductID field. For instance, Make, Model, Asset type...
My problem is that the string that returns contains special characters, specifically "#" and gives me the error message -
Run-time error '3075': Syntax error in date in query expression 'productID=EN371UA#ABA'.
My expression is definitely working, it just looks like it things it has something to do with date/time which it does not. Unfortunately, most HP equipment contains a # in the Product ID number.
Here is my expression -
Private Sub ProductIDCombo_AfterUpdate() Make = DLookup("Make", "productlist", "productID=" & [ProductIDCombo]) End Sub
Make is the field I am looking up from the ProductList table. The Product ID is the ID I'm looking up from the ProductList table to find the make. My problem is actually getting it to return the correct value of "HP or Dell or Lenovo". etc.
I'm facing an issue when I'm creating a Data Macro After Insert in Access 2010. In the value for the SetField, I use the expression builder. I wanted to use the DateAdd function but it not showing, also I cannot see my user define function (Module).
This behaviour seem to occur only in the instance of Expression Builder while in the Data Macro, everything is fine anywhere else including macro.
I don't know, I have noticed that the SETVALUE argument is not openly available in the lookup tables when setting a macro. (But that aside) I have set my drives c: and d: as trusted, and also thicked the sub folder option.
I have had a form working for ages. It has a main form and eight subforms at the bottom of the form. The main form can be edited in all fields.
I have taken a copy, modified the form added new fields to the main source table and updated the query that feeds the form.
Now (in the copy environment) it won't allow me to edit any of the fields. All of the form control properties are the same as the working model (in the live environment) I can run the query by itself and all is OK
There is obviously some little control that I have inadvertently changed and can't see it.
I have created a list that has 5 column. Data is filled in list using a query. I know how to remove 2 columns, but I do not know how to increase the width of columns.
How do I put an upper limit on the amount of time allowed in a date/time field?
For example - during a heart procedure a person is exposed to radiation, it will never be more than a total time of 10 minutes. I want to know how much, but I want data integrity so I don't want them to be able to enter more than 10 minutes.
I have a datasheet on a form that is unable to show all records in the size allowed. Consequently it has a vertical scroll bar. However, the scroll bar allows scrolling to the bottom whereby there is white space almost the same size as the data records. The horizontal scroll bar does much the same.
Is it possible to just show the records and only the width of the data in them.? No extra records exist in the table to cause this.
I have a form for users to be able to delete or edit records. I have 2 command buttons (Delete and Save), when I click on them I get this error "the command or action is not available now"... It was working fine before but for some reasons it stopped. Even two other buttons actioned by vba codes do not work (No message popping up for these 2)
I think it has to do with the query my form is based on, as I tried a dummy form based on a table and the button worked fine...? I tried re-creating query+form and no luck. I did remove a field from my query at some point this morning, not sure if this might be the cause of issue, as this field was not connected to anything in my form.
On Error GoTo Err_Command124_Click Dim stDocName As String Dim stLinkCriteria As String stDocName = "PRINTSQUARE 1" DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, 3, , , , 4
An command button would open a form to display some query result, and how could I do something after user exit that form!! I have tried to put some action afater the Docmd and EXIT_COMMAND124_CLICK:, both didn't work!!
