Forms :: Is There Any Limit To Number Of Fields In A Form

Jul 8, 2014

I am new to Access and I am developing a form. I have already read and found useful resources on internet but there is something I am not able to sort out.I have seen that the limit of fields I can enter in Access is 255 and my survey is far below that number.So no issue at all when I created the fields in Data view.However, the issues started when I created a form.

I created a form by Create>Form.The last few fields, at the very bottom of the form, are squeezed onto each other as if there was not any space available. Is there a limit to the number of fields I can have in a form? There should not be if I am allowed to enter up to 255 fields. How can I go about it? Should I alternatively create 2 forms? I would rather not to though.

Forms :: Limit Number Of Records That Can Be Accessed In A Form

Mar 14, 2014

I have a database that has transactions since year 2009. I want the users to only be able to view and edit transactions that were entered in the last 6 days. I was initially able to do this by putting a filter in the Property Sheet section of the form and choosing Yes for Filter on Load.

However, a user was able to discover that by clicking on Clear All Filters, the filter I set was also cleared, thus making them see all the transactions beginning year 2009.

Forms :: Way To Limit The Number Of Entries A User Can Make To A Form Based On A Value

Jan 20, 2015

My problem is the following: when I receive say 5 computers in a purchase form, I want to register the serial number of each of them in another form, bound to another table.If I receive 2 units in the purchase form, my user should only be able to input 2 records in the serial form (a continuous form), if we receive 3, then only 3 records,I cannot quite figure out how to build this second (serial number registration form), so that it refuses input after the correct number has been reached.

Limit Number Of Fields Returned By ODBC Table

Jan 9, 2008

Hi all, I've searched this with no success.

I have a ODBC (Firebird) table linked using a DSN connection which has >300 fields. In Access, the linked table only show 256 fields (max for Access). Otherwise the link works fine. I have no control over the source Firebird table.

What I'd like to do is limit which fields from the Firebird table are shown in Access. I don't need all the fields, but I need some that are at the end and are not linked in the current setup.

I'm very much a novice at using ODBC, but can I somehow use SQL or some other method to specify which fields to show in the linked table?

Thanks for any suggestions,
John

Forms :: Limit Number Of Clients In Date Range

Aug 30, 2013

Ok, not sure if this is even possible or where to even start..

I've got a form that has all the info for a client, eg..
Client First Name
Client Last Name
Client Hours
Client WE/CS/EE
Client Day And Times
Client Phone
Client Comments

Begin Date & End Date (2 boxs) on there for date input..

and what i'm trying to do is limit that any date entered between begin date and end date, it'll check and make sure there is only ever 20 clients on any 1 day..

i thought Datediff would be the way to go, but then again how do you get it to search each day and make sure theres only 20 clients on there..

Forms :: Limit Number Of Selections In Multiple Value List?

Apr 8, 2013

Is it possible (without using VB) to limit the number of selections a user can make in a multiple value list?

My list is one a form and when in the form field it brings up a total of 15 names with checkboxes, allowing you to "check" each name you want. However, I want to be able to have as many names as I need in the list, but limit the user to selecting only two of them.

Forms :: Sort Of Limit On Number Of Columns Contained In Data Source For Such A Box?

Jul 14, 2014

I have a form I created in the past that auto-fills some of its fields based on the user's selection of a record from a combo box linked to another table. The form has been working perfectly however I recently tried to add a couple of more fields to the form that need to be autofilled. I added the new fields to the source table and added columns to the combobox that should allow my VB code to fill those boxes. However only one of the new fields is filling correctly. After trying a few different things I notice that the problem seems to be with whatever data field becomes the 21st column in the combobox. Is there some sort of limit on the number of columns contained in the data source for such a box?

Option Compare Database
Private Sub EmpIDAutofill_Change()
Me.EmployerCatAutofill.Value = Me.EmpIDAutofill.Column(1)
Me.StreetNumAutofill.Value = Me.EmpIDAutofill.Column(2)
Me.JobCityAutofill.Value = Me.EmpIDAutofill.Column(3)

Forms :: Way To Limit Records Visible In A Form Using Field On That Same Form As A Limitation

Oct 25, 2013

We have a database with one main data entry which stores records in a seperate table. There are several thousand records keyed in using this form. Therefore, alongside the entry we have a search form which allow the user to search for a specific record and display it in the main if he/she needs to edit one.

We have received a request from users for a functionality which allows users to browse all records, using the main form layout, that they have keyed in. I guess what I am asking is: Is there a way to limit the records visible in a form using field on that same form as a limitation (ie. the users name - which is a required key-in)?

Forms :: Limit Filter To Current Row Of Continuous Form

Jul 28, 2015

I've built a basic inventory management system that allows a business to add products and the ingredients (and labour etc.) that go into them so they can work out costs and profit.We've run into a bit of a usability problem in the sense that they have 700 different ingredients and so adding them to products has become a little unwieldy as the lists in the comboboxs are massive.

What they've asked me to do is to add a filter combobox to the Ingredients subform of their New Product page that allows them to constrain the Ingredients by type, to make the lists more manageable. So if you imagine they are entering a record for a new cake and need to add Eggs as an ingredient they could either...

a) Scroll through the list of 700 ingredients as they do currently and find "Size 3 chicken egg".

...or...

b) Use a combobox on the ingredient row to pick "Eggs" which would in turn filter the ingredients combobox on that row from 700 ingredients down to a handful e.g."Size 1 chicken egg", "Size 2 chicken egg", "Size 3 chicken egg", "Size 1 duck egg" etc.

the filter combobox applies to all rows in the subform! Is there a clever way of telling the Filter to only apply itself to the current row of the continuous form?My code is...

Code:
Private Sub FilterRMs()
Dim mySql As String
If Me.RMTypeFilter.Column(1) = "999" Then
Me.FilterOn = False

Forms :: Navigation Form - Limit Access To Tabs

Feb 7, 2015

I have navigation form with 2 tabs I'd like to limit access to users with certain type of account.

There are 2 tables in database that contains user names and types of accounts (tblSecurityLevel and tblUser), and they are used to set user name, login and security level.

It works this way: when you open form, it checks if PC name corresponds to name in UserLogin field (tblUser), if it does it gives appropriate access level depending on set user security, if PC name is not on the list user will be logged as guest.

So far, I used this code and it works great for limiting access to 1 tab:

Code:
Private Sub Form_Load()
Dim UserLogin As String
Dim userLevel As Integer
UserLogin = Environ("Username")
Me.TxtLogin = UserLogin

[Code] ....

Is there a way to expand the code and add second tab (or even third) with this table structure (I'd like to be able to keep login which 1st checks for pc name).

Forms :: Limit User Access In Form And Report

Jun 19, 2015

what is the best way and good practice in limiting user's access in form or report.For example, i have 2 users in my UserTable, one is Administrator and the other is just ordinary user.In case i want the ordinary user to open the form in "Read Only" mode, and the Administrator in "Edit" mode.

Do I need to make a code for each form to be opened or there's another easy way to handle this? (I am thinking for additional fields in UserTable to store their individual rights, but after that i don't know what to do next)

Forms :: Using Form To Limit Results Shown In Query?

Aug 14, 2013

Essentially I have a table for rooms around my school and what the rooms contain. Most of the details for the rooms are Boolean (e.g. If the room has a projector, Yes/No). So what im trying to do is have a form where i can select a checkbox(s) and if i tick one, a query that holds all the room details will only show rooms with projectors in them, which i can then display those results in another form.

My question is how do I get the check boxes in the form to narrow down the room results to only show the ones with the criteria i have selected in the form?

Limit Number Of Tables

Aug 1, 2006

Hi,

I have searched for an answer to this question a lot, but I could not find it. I hope anyone can help me with the following:

I need to do a database in MS Access; however, there is so much information and some of it is not related. After normalising it, it looks like I need a number of tables. Is there a limit to how many tables you can have on Access? And how many tables is the recommended size?

Any help will be very much appreciated.

I have a webpage on our intranet so users can go and enter their information to it, and they get a nasty error whenever they try to enter information. I'm trying to figure out why and i was just wondering... i know it's not the webpage because when i connect it to my test database it works fine? so i dunno :confused:

any help is greatly appreciated!!

Limit Number Of Records....

Mar 29, 2005

Hi All.
Is it possible to limit the number of records in a form, to a number given in a linked form.

For Example.

tblA
StreetName
No_Of_Houses

tblB
Name
Number

I would only want the number of records in tblB to be the same as No_Of_Houses in tblA.
I have seen previous threads where you can limit it to a number, but do not know where to go from there.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Frank.

Limit Number Of Results

Jul 29, 2005

I am designing a database for a marketing company. One of my tables has all of the company's contacts. On the contacts form, I have a button that opens up a query that shows the information for the company that contact works for. I have a problem where if I have more than one contact per company, it will return that many results (which is just a repeated list of the same company information). It is an eyesore to look at the same information in two or more rows, so I was wondering, can I make the query return only one result? I've been looking online, and I haven't found this at all. Thanks a lot.

Limit Number Of Record Entries

Mar 3, 2006

HeyI'm trying to create a Library database. This involves restricting the number of loans available to each member (currently 3). I need to make it so no more than 3 records exist in that table for each member. For now ive just entered a VB script that has a message box saying not to enter more than 3 loans per person but I dont think thatll be enough, I need some sort of validation for the whole table rather than a field.I know how to limit the returns of sql queries which is all I can find, but not how to limit the actual amount of entries. The loan table is part of a double query within a subform of the member form if it helps :s

How Can I Limit Number Of Digits Entered In The Text Box? Please Help!

Dec 14, 2005

Hi guys,

I have a text box, which requires a 8-digit number entry. I have wrote the code to check that the length is 8 and if it isn't a label will turn visible next to the field telling the user entry must be 8 digits.

This works for when i enter a number less than 8-digits but when i input a number with more digits as it does not fit into the text box it turns it to a scientific format value and when the code runs it shows the length is actually 8! And therefore the entry is valid!

I.e. when i input 123456789 the text box shows 1.23E+08 which is 8 charecters!

I dont want any error messages to pop up as i handle them by code and use labels to show the error message next to the problem field and i would like to keep this consistent. Is there any way i can do this by a function or a property in the table or form?

I appreciate any help/advice

cheers
