Forms :: Label And Field Being Displayed On Another Form
Jun 6, 2013I've added a label and field to a page on an existing form. However these are now also displayed on other pages on the same form.

View RepliesHi there,
I have created a form containing contact details for a 100 or so different people/companies. I want to have a button that will allow me to print an address label for the current displayed record (e.g. when I find the company I wish to contact in my form I wish to click [Print Label] and then get this company's address printed on my label).
Have some programming experience but not sure how to go about this in access?
Also as an aside question, is it possible for me to display a list in my form instead of individual records. What I mean is that I would have Name, Address, etc as titles accross the top and then would have a list of all records below these. Then I could click on a record to get more detail and also click on one of the titles to re-order the data by this field?......I know these are pretty big questions but a pointer to somewhere with this info or a sample app doing something similiar would be great. :)
Thanks for your time, regards,
Lavaghman
I have a table that holds the SQL texts for ca. 1000 Select queries (mostly minor variants that are used to programmatically swap out RowSource strings for combo boxes). I'd like to have a quick and easy way to open/review/modify these queries.
One strategy would be to display the SQL strings in a field on a Datasheet form, then use an onClick event on a text box linked to the SQL-holding field (or perhaps an onClick event tied to an unbound text box on the form) to open the associated query. That would allow me to view the SQL of the query that I want to open, allow me to quickly scroll through the list of stored SQL texts, and give me options for sorting or limiting the SQL-texts displayed in the datasheet form.
But, I can't seem to get the onClick event to work. The problem seems to be that I can't figure out how to pass the SQL string contained in the field to a function that will use that string to open the query .
I wish to change the backcolor of a field on a current record being dispalyed in a 'multiple items' form. However when using me.A.backcolor = makes refrence to all fields called A on the 'multiple items' form and therefore all fields change colour not just the current record.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat event would you use to update a label caption relative to a number field in the same form, so that each time a new record is displayed, it goes through my complicated "if" bva code. I want the letter "th", "st", "rd" to display beside a text box relative to the value displayed.
I suppose I could do this in the query. :confused:
i want to make it equal to my forms adjusted width but i don't know how to do that. Also i thought it would look like a form enwrapped within a rectangle or a square yet its gluded onto Access with no border

I am setting up a database to run a shop. In my 'Orders' form, i have a subform of the order details (The item (combo box), price, quantity and subtotal (price*quantity).
In the form in which the subform is displayed, how can I display the total of the subtotals? Is it easy, could anyone show me roughly what i need to write?
Many, many thanks,
- Smiffezo.
I have a form with a subform that has started a strange behavior... Periodically (no apparent pattern) whenever I leave the form (go to next record, print report, send an email...) the field list (Add Existing Field) box pops up. I always thought that those boxes (property sheet included) displayed or were hidden based on the state the last time it was used in Design View. I have confirmed that all forms and subforms do not have the boxes in display state in Design View.
I can go into Design View, close the box and all is well for awhile. It seems to happen more frequently when I go to print a report based on the data on the current form. My question is - what causes the Field List or Property Sheet to toggle on/off and can I suppress it either on a form or in the VBA code?
I saved my form with a particular name and I have used that name all throughout my code and it still works fine. But when I open that form, the name I see on the top of the form is not that name at all. It's actually some value I gave a combo box a while ago.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a series of forms that become current in a certain order. For example a menu form comes up. This is followed by a search form where the user gives search parameters. Then appears the results list. If the user wants a detail form comes after that, etc. Now when the user closes the last form I want the form before that one to show up and when he closes that one the one before that and so on. That is I am going to use the close button to go back to the previous step. How can I do this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Assess 2007 database with a user table. This table holds database user names and user passwords an entry permission to the database. I also have a welcome form that activates when user enters the database using either of the user names and user password in the user table. Now, I would like to display the database user name (NOT THE SYSTEM USER NAME] on the welcome form of the user that enters the database.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet that my company uses that has about 20 clients presented in a single sheet in Excel so I was wondering if it was possible to display only a selected range (i.e. only one client) in a specific form in Access to cleanse this up a bit.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for displaying the totals from a query onto a form.
I have a query which has a total line showing a count of the number of entry's in each column. I would like to be able to display these totals on one of my forms in text boxes (or any other way). Is this possible and if so how do I do it ?
I've created a button on my ACCESS 2010 form that will send a PDF via email. However I only need to send the single record displayed on the form not all records.
The on click command of the button sends the PDF of the report. (I read that this is what should be sent; but still get the same results.)
I don't understand how and where to attach VBA code:
Me.Filter = "RequestsID=" & Forms![OD Reversal Requests]![RequestsID]
Me.FilterOn = True
I am creating a form and I have some fields I don't want people being able to change so I selected to disable them in the datasheet but now the labels have a strange double text, it looks different than all the other labels and is driving me nuts. when I enable it the font on the label goes back to what the others are but once I change it to disabled it goes funky again. how do I fix this?

Unbound Form
I have a onclick tied to a label (for decoration purposes) that when clicked it launches VBA that essentially updates a form. All that part works except it will not recognize any changed value of the field I was last in?
Just to try to explain best as I can what happens.
- Form gets opened
- I change field (quantity field)
- I click the Label
- It reverts to pre-existing value.
if I click off of the text field first then do the onclick - it recognizes just fine.
I have a userform that pops up when I am implementing a VBA subroutine. The nature of the form is simply to update the user what progress through the operation the code is using a label called lblProgressText.
So, I have a form called frmProgress and in my loop I use:
Code:
DoEvents
Form_frmProgress.lblProgressText.Caption = Format(rsLongItems.PercentPosition / 100, "0.00%") & " - Long items"
Form_frmProgress.pbProgressBar = rsLongItems.PercentPosition
Form_frmProgress.Requery
Form_frmProgress.Refresh
Form_frmProgress.Repaint
I know I don't need the .requery, .repaint and .refresh lines but I put in there just to check it wasn't that causing the issue.
When my code runs, the form is opened using:
Code:
Form_frmProgress.Modal = False
DoCmd.OpenForm Form_frmProgress.Name, acNormal, , , , acWindowNormal
The form Popup property is set to Yes.
The lblProgressText control just wont update (but earlier today it was so maybe I have broken something).Btw, all this code is run from a Module, not in the form object.
I have a text box in a form, in which users enter updates. I would like that text to become the caption on a label in a printable report. How would I write the VBA to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some code on a button that opens a form and changes the caption of a label:
Code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmRepair", , , , , , "CancelNo"
Forms![frmRepair].Form.[lblmain].Caption = "Missing Parts"
This code works well and frmRepair opens with the updated label caption. The original value was "Return/repair Information"
A few other things need to change on frmRepair depending on this caption as well as the values of some other fields, so I use the following code in the onload event (although I later tried the onopen even)
Code:
'Disable labels button if there is no RMA and the item is a repair
MsgBox Me.lblmain.Caption
If Me.lblmain.Caption = "Return/Repair Information" Then
Me.txtRMA.SetFocus
MsgBox Me.txtRMA.Text
[Code] ....
However, I cannot get this to work as the "if" statement always returns "Return/Repair information" and not the modified caption. The message box confirms that this is the case.
I suspect that this has to do with the point in time that the frmRepair loads or opens and when my code enters the modified values.
I know this is a simple question. I searched but could not find what I was looking for. Or it is handled in differently than what I am thinking.
I have a field where I enter a dollar amount. But if I do not enter a dollar amount the field displays $0.00. How can I make this field blank if no dollar amount is entered.

For any help I can get
I have set up a form which has 2 combos.
Combo A pulls from a query which gets surgery address1, address2, and surgeryID. It displays only the first 2 fields.
Combo B gets info from a query getting staff firstname, surname, title, staffID and surgeryID, and shows the first 3 fields.
I have the following code in the afterupdate of box A (surgery_combo)
Private Sub surgery_combo_AfterUpdate()
staff_combo = 0
staff_combo.Requery
End Sub
HERE IS THE PROBLEM:
The queries seem to work fine, as box B displays the staff that work at each surgery. However on selecting a staff member, you can only SELECT the ones who have a salutation (mr/mrs etc) in the first column. And when you DO select this - the combo shows a most unhelpful "Mr" whereas I want the name there.
How do I change the column that the combo displays once selected?
I have a combobox which lets you select from a list of pseudonyms. Each pseud belongs to an author; authors can have multiple pseudonyms and exactly one main pseudonym. This is the table structure (picture of relationships attached below):
Code:
tblStory: StoryID (PK), AuthorID (FK), Title, etc.
tblAuthor: AuthorID (composite PK, autonumber), MainPseudID (composite PK)
tblPseud: PseudID (PK, autonumber), Pseud, AuthorID (FK)
The combobox list shows all the pseudonyms and then stores the corresponding AuthorID. At the moment, the pseudonym displayed in the combobox (once a selection has been made) is simply the first alphabetically for that particular author: for instance, if a story has AuthorID = 5, and Author 5 goes by anon, anonymous, and unknown, the combobox for that story will display "anon".
How can I make the main pseudonym (tblAuthor.MainPseudID = tblPseud.PseudID) be displayed instead?
Control source is tblStory.AuthorID
Row source:
Code:
SELECT tblPseud.AuthorID, tblPseud.Pseud, tblAuthor.MainPseudID
FROM (tblAuthor LEFT JOIN tblPseud ON tblAuthor.AuthorID = tblPseud.AuthorID)
LEFT JOIN tblStory ON tblAuthor.AuthorID = tblStory.AuthorID
ORDER BY tblPseud.Pseud;
I have a "Currency" field in a table and it holds large numbers (on which I will need to do basic arithmetic operations at some point, so I must store them as a numbers). I have set the "Standard" format on the TextBox used to display it on a form because I want to have thousand separators; I've also set "0" for decimals as I don't need to display them.
So everything displays as I want it even with the largest number that can be stored all the decimals are showing in the text field, but when I click on the field to edit the value instead of having the complete value it is displayed as scientific notation. I would like to display the complete value when editing it instead of the scientific notation, how can I achieve this, if it is possible?
A numeric example: If a user enters 1234567891012, the value displayed is indeed 1234567891012 but if they click on the field again the displayed value while editing is 1.23456789012E+11 (and it switches back to normal notation when the focus changes to another field). I would like to show 123456789012 all the time. I know that Access is capable of it most likely because if I set the Format to "Fixed" the values are always displayed completely (no scientific notation), but unfortunately I would like the thousands separators to show and it is not possible with the "Fixed" format.
Two last details, the scientific notation while editing does not kick in unless there is more than 11 digits in the number and the field width (and/or TextBox width) are sufficient to display up to 20 digits.
I'm new to Access VBA and I am having a bit of trouble. I want to find the dates between 2 dates(both inputted into textboxes), when I press a button I want them dates found to be displayed in a listbox.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a pivot chart that has site locations, and hours on the bottom, and then count of records with each site. Which is how many people used this site during this time for each bar. My problem is when I generate my pivot chart, every single time I have to fix the scale on the right hand side because it has decimal points in it. They only appear when I add dates/times to it.I want to give this to my boss that has access runtime, so all he has to do is click the button to get the chart and then print or send it off. How do I get rid of those decimal points when the report is generated?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a working combo box on a form that displays issue numbers for part number typed into a text box.This all works fine when the list of issue numbers is below the displayed list (16), but when the list is longer than 16 you cannot seem to select anything after item 16.
When the combo box has, say 25 items a scroll bar appears allowing the user to scroll down to item 25, but when you click the mouse the list just reverts back to the first 16 items? The only way to select an item after 16 is to select item 16 which then closes the combo box, then when you reopen it the list now shows items 17 to 25 which you can then select item 25.
This is the same in reverse, when you have item 25 selected, you cannot select item 1. When you click the mouse the list reverts back to items 17 - 25.The combo box is populated in code using the lost focus event on the text box for the part number.
