I have a subform that is filtered by a textbox on the main form. Is there any way I can add a timestamp to a record on the subform when a user changes anything on that record?
I've tried the Macro that is listed on Microsoft's website regarding timestamps, but I had serious issues implementing that to a subform.
How do I set up a field so that when the record has been modified, the field is automatically filled in (or replaced) with a date? In other words if I open up my member's detail form, and go to Sally Smith and edit her information on 11 July 15, that date is saved into a field called last modified and then updated every time I go into her file and edit & save it.

I have a 3rd party desktop application to manage inventory. The data will be stored in local MS Access database. I want to sync any changes (insert, update or delete) made to this database to remote MS Sql server immediately or in batches using a scheduler.
Is there any method to know the changed rows in an MS Access table after x time. I mean I want to get all the rows in an Access table that have been added or modified after a particular date and time (say "05-23-2007 10:15:00") without using a user defined date time column in that table.
If i can do the above operation, i will write queries to get the added or modified rows and update remote server in batches.

I know that I can add this facility for new records henceforth but I want the date modified information for old records.

:confused: I am trying to add a "now" field to my table and records.
I currently have 2234 records in my table (old records) and I would like to be able to query only new records, or records within a date perameter. I have tried the "Now()" function but I am getting an error in the field when I go to add new records.
I know this is something simple that is eluding me and it is frustrating. I am currently scouring the forums for an answer, but if someone has the answer before I find it in here, could you pls help me out. I am in the process of rebuilding my database and would like to get everything done before I move to the next level.

I have got this form, consisting of 1 form (that needs to add a new record to a table everytime) and 1 subform, that needs to show the last three records of the table.
My problem is that I cannot get it right, now both forms (form and subform) are showing the details on just one record. If I open my subform it shows me all the records of a table, but in as soon as I view the form as a subform I shows me only one record.
Any help is welcome, I attached my db, just in case....
I am adding new record into subform via recordsetclone method. The problem is that record is added but on save it does not appear in the table. If add this record manual using subform everything works. When record added manually update of the record works fine.

I have a subform that has 3 check boxes. If the record was an existing record in the SQL table and I want to change the value I can change it no problem. If I try to check the box for a new record added to the database then it doesn't allow me to save the change. I know that this is a problem with bit values in SQL when deleting so I made sure all 3 fields have a default value, but it still doesn't let me make changes to new records.

Date [Date]
Flower_name [Short Text]
Amount [Long Integer]
Sender [Short Text]
Address [Long Text]
Then I created a form named MAINF with FLOWER_SHIPPING as its RecordSource. The form only has one TextBox: Date.
Then in MAINF, I created a subform named SUBF with FLOWER_SHIPPING as its RecordSource, in Datasheet View. It shows all fields in FLoWER_SHIPPING as it is.
The link between MAINF and SUBF is Date.
I want SUBF to only show record based on the Date chosen in Date TextBox in MAINF. So far, yes it did what I want. But with problems:
1) [SOLVED] SUBF does show record based on the Date I've chosen in MAINF's TextBox Date, but it ALWAYS ALSO shows the first record on the FLOWER_SHIPPING table. And the date in the first record always changed into the Date I just input in the TextBox Date in the MAINF. Automatically.
Example: I chose 6/22/2013, and there are 2 records with that date. the SUBF will show 3 records: those 2 records + the first row of FLOWER_SHIPPING with its Date automatically set to 6/22/2013.
2) When I chose a date in MAINF, I have to click everywhere in the SUBF so that it will refresh its content. Can I have it refresh automatically everytime after a date chosen?
I need to able to quickly find which the last records that have been modified. I have an invisible field "txtModified" on the main form and selecting when changes where made to the record on the main form is easy using a qry on that field. The problem I face is that the form with all details of a particular item contains 2 subforms. Changes to data on each of these subforms doesn't effect the time/date on the main form. However, each of the subforms is also time stamped upon change.The qry to select the last records changed therefore needs to look at 3 fields and select records with the latest date in any of the 3 "Modified" fields. How do I do that? I suppose I'll have to put an expression in the qry?Thanks for your advice.Walter

I have a form with 4 subforms on it and I am trying to find a way to capture the last modified date for the record regardless of what form or subform they touched

Right now I have a macro on before update of Now() on the form and all of the subforms but that is only showing when that form was last modified which is not exactly what I am trying to achieve.
In my access database I am using a form and at times a record may need to be updated multiple times. Is there a way to track and count how many times a record has been modified? I already track the last modified date and time.I searched and was not able to locate what I am trying to do, and maybe my search term was not exactly correct.

When I enter the current record on Subform1 I would like the matching record(s) on Subform2 to be highlighted or otherwise formatted. I can get this to work for only the first record on subform2 due to the way I have my code setup on Subform1:

My thought was that I needed to reference the Recordset of Subform2 and search for all AccountingUnits that match the current AccountingUnit of Subform1,

That works wonderfully, however I would like to add to this the user that modified the record.
Is there a macro code for this??
I tried setting the Item to read [UserModified] and the Expression to be User() however that did not work.

I have a table in my Access 2010 Database with few date/time fields. I have set different formats like Short Time, Medium Time etc. But when I link this table to Sharepoint list, all the date/time fields have been modified to their default format (General Date).
Is there a way we can keep the formats as such even after linked to Sharepoint list? If not, is there a workaround?
I have 2 sub-forms attached to a main form. Each of these forms are based on different tables. Whenever I input the record, it goes into respective tables. However when I try to delete the record, it only deletes the record from the main form. I tried cascade delete. However, since referential integrity has to be established, I cannot add the record to my subform because there has to be a corresponding record in the parent table for me to add the record in the subform.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've created two tables, one containing order data, the other additional order data. Not every order has additional order data.
First i've created them with no specific relationship and filling in data via form worked fine. If i added additional data, a new record in the additional order data table was created automatically.
Later i changed those tables to a "one to one" relationship by setting the long int field that links to the order data table to no duplicates. I just did it because i thought that's how it should bew. But since then i can't add additional order data via the form anymore, but get the error "Record(s) cannot be added; No corresponding record on the 'one' side" instead. I could just revert back to the one to many relationship, but it bothers me.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two subforms on a main form. Both use similar queries and nearly the same set of records and PK. The first subform is for data entry and the 2nd subform is a continuous form that lists the entries in order that are made from the 1st Subform. (for entering in vacation days and appointments)
The continuous form cannot be edited, it is to be a list for viewing the information only.
I have an edit button next to each record on the continuous form. When the button is clicked, I want it to take the 1st subform to that specific record as well (same PK), so the information can be edited there.
I cannot figure out how to get the 1st subform to go to the record on the continuous form when the button next to that record is clicked on the continuous form.
I tried the DoCmdSearch for record and just keep getting object is not open errors.
I have recently started learning to use Access and all is going very well except for the date. As can be seen from the images below I have set up my date function correctly in Control Panel and everywhere I use a date it is displayed correctly. In Access however numbers are added which I cannot figure where they are coming from and don't want them there. In the second image you can see what the various Format options look like. When long format is used in a Form or Report it displays those additional figure. I cannot get 2015 to display but get 15316 or similar instead.
