How to populate the parent form's PK to multiple records in a child subform set to a default view continuous form?
In other words, how to auto populate the primary key to multiple records displayed the subform?
Is there any way to identify the Top row in a continuous view form?This changes of course as you scroll down. What I'm thinking of doing is a page jump page forward, or back. The form is based on a query and has a line number field, but I can't figure outhow to get at it in code.

Both of these buttons work fine when just the subform itself is open, but when viewing it in its main form, I get a window saying 'enter parameter value' for "Forms!sbfScoutRegDetails!ID" (this is the WHERE condition in the macro).The report then opens with all the record information blank.The full WHERE condition

Not sure if it's because of using a continuous form as a subform? I need the user to be able to view/print or email a contract to each group/contact that signs up.
i'm creating a database which holds all animals. i'm trying to make the parents selectable in a subform based on the same table as the main form - this doesn't work for whatever reason ("table is already opened exclusively by another user,..."). it can't just be one field or a query, it needs to be a subform because besides name and eartag i also want to display a small picture of the parent and only the filename is being stored.
i'd really like it to be selectable records in a continuous subform, so the risk of selecting a wrong id is minimized. is there a way around this not being able to use the same table for a subform?
I would like to know how i can have a continuous form or subform with dynamic record source.
Before I was using a list box with dynamic row source and i had not problem.
Now about the continuous form i have problem when i define record source of form on the fly how we have to add fields to the form.
I have an entry form with a field(combo box) called cboGetCode. I also have a sub form (continuous form) with number of fields, also an entry form. Now, I have added a code behind the cboGetCode AfterUpdate event to populate the result to relevant fields in the main form.

I want to have like 2-3 columns with 5-6 records each.
I have a Project form, which holds StockArtProduction_Subform in datasheet view. I need for them to be able to click on the ID in the StockArtProduction_Subform datasheet and it open a single view form (StockArtProduction) with the correlating ID.
Ideally, it would also work for new entries in the StockArtProduction_Subform, but the StockArtProduction form would have to "auto populate" (did I use it right?) with the ID of the currently open Project form.
I have a mainform. When I click on a command button, it opens up another form. That form is designed to be as a continuous form, yet it does not display the header. The header is present in the form view. I have attached the screenprints to show the header in my form and the corresponding properties window.

I have seen that in some sample db's rightclicking the mouse showed the menu with an option to check or uncheck the dataview option, unchecked the formview was applied, but when i 'just' import the subform, i cannot find somewhere the possibility to change from dataview to formview.
Maybe someone can help me with this, probably very simple(?), question?
What I am trying to do is put a subform within a subform. The trouble is I want both forms to be continuous forms.
when I put the subform within a subform, access comes up with the following message:

You tried to add a subform to a form in design view.
MSAcess will reset the property to Single Form.

which it does my higher level form becomes a form only showing single records at a time whilst the subform is a continuous form.
does anyone know of a way around this?
what about Access2003 does it allow this?

In the buttons click event I am using a public function (named Sort_1) to change the sort order. The first element of the event call is the name of a generic query (named Sort_1_Query1) and the query field to sort (LAST_NAME OR FRIST_NAME, depending on the button.)This is the Click Statement.

I think the problem is in the use of quotation marks or trying to pass the query field name to the Do Command or the use of an ampersand.
I have a continuous form in which I put a command button for each record called "detail". I would like to click on the "detail" button and make it open another form containing all (and only) the info on this record.
At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

Sure hoping someone can help me with this. I have a main form with a continuous subform. I am trying to filter the subform "behavior" combo box with another combo box on the subform "learningtype". The subform filter works fine if only the subform is open, although I can't add records because it would require a record in the main form. However, now that I've added the subform to the mainform, when I open it it asks for the parameter value of the filter combo box on the subform. Can someone help me, please...I'm desperate. I'm attaching a sample for you to look at.

View 14 Replies View RelatedFirstly, apologies if any of the following seems to denote bad database design or a lack of forward planning. It does, but I've inherited it, so I'm stuck with it (for the time being).
I have a Subform (Training_Records_Sub) linked to a Form (Employee_Training). Both forms get their data from tables of the same name.
Up to now, these have been linked on the field Employee_ID. This has been working fine, as all information stored related to permanent employees, so everyone had an Employee_ID value.
Now, however, I've been informed that the system also needs to store information on temporary and contract staff, neither of whom have an Employee_ID number. In fact - for reasons I fail to understand but which I'm sure make sense to management - there is no unique indentifier stored for any of these people.
The best I can come up with is as follows:
Permanent Personnel - Can be uniquely identifed by Employee_ID and Cost_Center.
Temporary Personnel - Can be uniquely dentified by Last_Name, First_Name and Requisition_Number (this last number can apply to many people). I realise that two people of the same name COULD be hired under the same requisition number, but I've been assured that this won't be allowed.
My problem is in working out how to now link the Form and Subform.
Is there some way to use an 'If...Then..Else' statement? Even in VBA? I've sort of got an idea of what I need, but a day of playing with the code hasn't worked, so I thought I'd try posting.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

i am having a problem linking my subform data to my form data on more that one fitler.
that is, i have a form that contains Last_Name and First_Name and a subform that pull a different set of info form anther table as i scroll through the main form.
on the properties of the subform i have Filter set to "Me.FilterOn="Last_Name".
BUT i need to bring in the filter on Last_Name AND First_Name because of different entries that have the same last name.

I have 4 tables and around 440 records but can only view up to 417 in the form I have designed. I have been adding new records via form and it has been added to my main table, but when i try to view it in form view - the record is not available to view. What do I need to do to correct this problem?
I have checked that there are no filters, data entry is set to No, Auto deletions, additions and edits are set to yes.
Also to mention it seems that the problem has arisen since I set up some new queries, there is a one to one relationship between the tables!

I have a form linked to a subform by an activity field, Both have a UID field also. I want to store the UID from the main form in each record in the subform. How do I link the two? I've done it before but cannot remember how and have been trying now for AGES! Any help would be much appreciated :)
I created a subform on one of my forms and in design view it looks all nice with a nice background and stuff. But in the form view it looks just like a regular datagrid. I'd like it to look like it does in design view. Any idea how?
