Forms :: Linking Labels To Controls

May 17, 2014

I cannot link a label with a control. I don't know how it happens, or rather how I do it, but on various forms the label is not linked to the proper control. I try to do it by clicking on the warning popup on the right side and indicate I want to associate the label with the control, but sometimes it just doesn't work. That is, if I set the visibility of the control to True or False depending on the value of another control, the label still appears.

I've looked in the properties of each, but there doesn't seem to be anything there to indicate the link or association. Other than laboriously copying and pasting the label back on the form with the control highlighted, is there any way else to do this?

Aligning Labels And Controls.

Mar 16, 2006

How do I get my labels and controls to line up vertically? If I click on align and up or down, they all get moved on top of each other with no spaces inbetween them. I want an equal amount of space inbetween them. How do I do this?

Reports With Sub Forms Hiding Labels.

Dec 17, 2004

Hi,

I have a command button that opens a report. The report has many subforms in it. I am sending open args which existingstewardship. I want one of the labels of the labels to be visible if the me.openargs = "existingstewardship". the code is not working. I have tried to debug when I do this I have found the open args are null and I am wondering if the open args are null is this because they were sent to the main report from the command button and the subforms in the main report do not get passed the open args.

Does anyone have any idea ? how I could make the box visible or not visible in subreport from the command button. The other option I have would be two different reports. Thanks PWF

Forms :: Referencing Labels In A FOR Loop

Apr 1, 2014

I want to be able to do something to several labels, e.g. make them invisible, using a FOR loop. They are all named similarly, with ascending numbers on the end, e.g. lblName20

Say I want to make lblName20 to lblName40 invisible. I need something along the lines of:

Code:
Dim labelname As String
For c = 20 To 40
labelname = "lblName" & c
labelname.Visible = False
Next c

Of course, that doesn't work, because it doesn't recognize the string as a label name. How do I go about this?

Forms :: Vary Sub Form Labels Depending On Other Value

Jan 21, 2015

I have a form containing a sub form.

On the sub form I am selecting products that I am selling to a customer whose details appear on the main form.

The products on the sub form are selected from a combo box. This section is in datasheet format.

Depending on the product sold some of the labels on the sub form are not relevant. And when this is the case I was thinking maybe the label is rendered invisible.

Maybe this is not the best way to handle this - or is it. It certainly is expedient.

Perhaps as well when the label is rendered invisible entry of a value into the corresponding text box becomes impossible.

Is there a better way to handle this?

How I can render the label invisible and disallow data entry depending on the value of the combo box.

Forms :: Address Labels - How To Keep It From Overflowing To Push Down The Next Line

Feb 11, 2015

I am trying to generate standard Avery 2160 address labels. Fonts are small enough to allow for up to 4 print lines none of which quite touch. Players have entered their own names and addresses via a website form, so I we never quite know what is in the fields. If the player has a foreign address, it will all be entered in the address field, whereas US addresses have 1 or 2 lines in the address field, and city, state and zip in their respective fields. Line 1 is set as name, no shrink or grow. Line 2 is set as address, shrink and grow set to yes, and line 3 (text4) is set for city & state & zip, concatenated and trimmed in the query, shrink and grow no. The detail OnPrint event is the following:

Code:
Private Sub Detail_Print(Cancel As Integer, PrintCount As Integer)
Me.Text4.Visible = False
If Len(Text4 & vbNullString) > 1 Then
Me.Text4.Visible = True
End If
End Sub

The problem: Any row containing at least one label with 4 print lines pushes the next entire row of three labels down one line, throwing off the spacing of the labels. If I set line 3's can shrink to yes, then the label following the four-line label never has its text4.visible turned to yes, and the other problem (pushing next row down one line) persists. These labels were originally set up via the labels wizard (Access 2010).

How can I keep it from overflowing from one label to push down the next line? This just shouldn't be this hard!

Forms :: Access 2003 VBA / Unable To Tick Labels Property Of Axis Class

Dec 3, 2013

I have the following code:

Dim FrmGraphObj As Object
Set FrmGraphObj = Forms![frmE Weekly Efficiency]![gph_WeeklyEfficiency].Object.Application.Chart
FrmGraphObj.Axes(xlValue).TickLabels.NumberFormat = "0%"

I continually receive a runtime error 1004 " unable to get tick labels property of the axis class"

if I remove this code, then I error on the following code:

Dim FrmGraphObj As Object
Set FrmGraphObj = Forms![frmE Weekly Efficiency]![gph_WeeklyEfficiency].Object.Application.Chart
If FrmGraphObj.SeriesCollection(2).HasDataLabels Then

also a runtime 1004: "unable to get the seriescollection property of the chart class" on the last line above

searched this forum and found:

If your chart is in a form (or report), you have to:

1) refer to the form (or report) name (Form_Charts)

2) refer to the name of the object frame holding your chart (.Graph1)

3) refer to the object within the frame (.Object)

4) refer to the application that created the object (.Application)

5) refer to the actual chart itself (.Chart)

6) refer to the axes collection and select the axis you want to reference - in this case the category, or X-axis (.Axes(xlCategory))

I made the assumption, that I would just replace xlCategory with xlValue for the Y-axis. So I'm back to:

Set FrmGraphObj = Forms![frmE Weekly Efficiency]![gph_WeeklyEfficiency].Object.Application.Graph
With FrmGraphObj.Axes(xlValue)
.TickLabels.NumberFormat = "0%"
End With

Same error....

Looked in the Microsoft Graph Visual Basic Reference and it indicated:

"Tick-mark label text for the value axis is calculated based on the MajorUnit, MinimumScale, and MaximumScale properties of the value axis. To change the tick-mark label text for the value axis, you must change the values of these properties."

I reset my code to call these 2 functions prior to changing the number format.....

Public Sub txtMaxPercent_AfterUpdate()
Dim FrmGraphObj As Object
Set FrmGraphObj = Forms![frmE Weekly Efficiency]![gph_WeeklyEfficiency].Object.Application.Chart
FrmGraphObj.Axes(xlValue).MaximumScale = txtMaxPercent
End Sub
Public Sub txtMinPercent_AfterUpdate()
Dim FrmGraphObj As Object
Set FrmGraphObj = Forms![frmE Weekly Efficiency]![gph_WeeklyEfficiency].Object.Application.Chart
FrmGraphObj.Axes(xlValue).MinimumScale = txtMinPercent
End Sub

now I am receiving error 1004 again, this time it states "Unable to set the minimumscale property of the axis class" erroring on this line....

FrmGraphObj.Axes(xlValue).MinimumScale = txtMinPercent
debug.Print me.txtMinPercent
0.51

Referencing Controls On Forms

Mar 30, 2012

I have a main form, 2 sub forms, and 2 text-boxes on the main form. I have a search box now for the first subform. Works perfectly. Once the users filtered based on name, I want them to be able to select that filtered record which would filter another subform.

Right? ok.

My first attempt was to assign the ID that was selected to a textbox on the main form, then automatically requery the second subform based on that value. I used this way on my search box. I'm sure there is a way to go directly from clicking the value to requerying the second subform, but i don't know it.

That being said even the indirect first attempt isn't working. It all has to do with the ".", "!", and ordering of this stuff. It has to do something with Parent child, but beyond that I'm at a loss.

Code:
Me.[Collateral] = Acct_Reference_id
Me.[Navigation]![textbox] = Acct_Reference_id
...
'Me!Subform1.Form!ControlName
'Me!Subform2.Form!ControlName
'Me.Parent!ControlName

I did find this very useful site [URL] ...... It shows what code you can use depending on where you are and what you're doing. Even with that as a resource, i'm still at a loss.

Remove Controls On A Forms' Opening

Sep 29, 2006

Hi there,

I've been puzzling over this one for a few days. I've done a few searches on here to borrow some code - but the fact is I don't understand how to implement the suggestions. I'm hoping somone can help.

Basically, I have a form for editing the database, however, there are a number of reasons for opening this form - so at the moment I have several copies of the same form all with very minor changes. In order to streamline the way I've done this, I'd rather have controls always call up the same Form - but state in their code whether or not certain controls on the editing form are visible or not...

:mad: :eek: :mad: :eek: :confused:

It's all gone rather Pete Tong here. And I must admit I'm button bashing the code a bit now. Basically, when a button is pressed, I want it to load the form "frmEditJob". Depending on what I want visible, the Tags "N, M and V" will activate and deactivate certain controls on "frmEditJob".

With me? :confused:

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers.

Forms- Subtable Filtering Controls

Apr 28, 2008

Hi,

I'm new to Access and am having trouble designing a database that houses application details.

All applications have a list of unique wrap id's but have different tables housing different details for these wraps.

I have a main table which is for data entry and lets me input whether or not a piece of software is Vista compatible (yes/no) etc.

I also have a field in this table showing which analyst is responsible for researching compatiblity of an application.

I have another table with different regions i.e. london, manchester etc that has the region/city listed as the field heading and then contains a list of wraps used in that city under the relevant field.

My main entry form is linked to the main data entry table that holds specifics for an app, name, vista compatible etc. This form is used for data entry. I want to add a subform on this form which shows a list of all applications, in table format, but I want a drop down list so I can select an analyst name / region so that analysts can update details for a specific area assigned to them. In the table I want all of the records based on this criteria to be displayed.

I guess I need to make a filter button on my subform but do not know how to do this. I put in a button control for apply filter by form but then dont know what to do.

I'm new to access and don't know much VB - e.g. the only thing I can do in VB is a make a message box that says hello world on the screen.

Any help is sincerely appreciated. Apologies for the Essay.

Kind Regards
Bal

Forms :: Controls Not Repainting After VBA Routine

Jul 23, 2014

Access 2007

I have a subroutine which cycles through all controls on a form, and for controls with applicable tags, either enables or disables the control.

The routine accepts a form as the parameter (frm), and is called from a button on the form itself.

Despite trying frm.repaint in the generic routine, and, me.repaint from the calling form, the controls do not seem to repaint until the mouse moves over them. A command button, for example, will be grey-ed out, despite being enabled, but will un-grey when the mouse goes over it.
