Forms :: Any Way To Disable Hot Keys At Login Form

Nov 16, 2013

I have a fully functioning frmLogin that appears when the database opens. After correctly logging in, it takes you to the appropriate switchboard. The problem is that I set autokeys to allow F1 to automatically open the switchboard, but I don't want users to hit this to bypass my login screen. The reason for keeping the switchboard open is to force the user to close the database using the switchboard(eventually I want to limit the user to only the forms that I have created in a split database).

My other option that I tried first was writing a module that would detect when all forms are closed, then open the switchboard. But I kept getting Error91 and got frustrated/stopped attempting this method. Using the hotkey gives the user a similar functionality, but less conveniently so(since its not an automated process, etc.).

Forms :: Open Specific Record In Form From Login

Aug 20, 2013

I have been trying for weeks to get my login form to open up to a specific record on the mainform. I have built a form out of my Employee tbl (mainform). The table stores (ID,Name, password, EmpNumber ect.) I built a subform in that allows the user to type in the number of overtime worked on a paticular day. I have disabled the navigation on the main form so users can't advance to the next user but have enable the natigation on the subform so a particular user can advance to the next week of available overtime to input data.The goal is to get user login form to display a particular record on the main form and open a different form in the user is a supervisor.

Option Compare Database
Private intLogonAttempts As Integer
Private Sub cmdExit_Click()
DoCmd.Quit
End Sub
Private Sub cmdLogin_Click()

[code]...

'If User Enters incorrect password 3 times database will shutdown

intLogonAttempts = intLogonAttempts + 1
If intLogonAttempts > 3 Then
MsgBox "You do not have access to this database. Please contact your system administrator.", vbCritical, "Restricted Access!"
Application.Quit
End If

Forms :: Login Form Time And Reset Count

Jul 1, 2014

I have a login form that closes automatically after a specified time if you do not login with user name and password. It also keeps track of how many times you login and whatever value you set for a password reset it forces you to change when that value is met.

Problem: If you do not login within the allotted time even though a password change has been scheduled, my code resets the login count back to 0.

This is what i want to get around if I can. Either I have to pause the timer or stop the reset.

After you enter the password is when the login count is fired.

And also when it checks if a new password is required.

Forms :: Login System That Assign Security Clearance - Form Not Found Error

Jun 24, 2013

I am relatively new to Access and VB. I am trying to create a log-in system that assigns a security clearance to each user and then restricts access to certain forms and reports based on security clearance. Right now, I have set up the log-in system - that seems to work fine. But when I try to lock the form based on security clearance, I get the 2450 - Form Not Found - error.

The code I am using on the form is as follows:

Private Sub Form_Open (Cancel As Integer)

If Forms!frmLogin!cboUser.Column(4) <> 1 Then
MsgBox "You do not have access to this form", vbOkOnly
DoCmd.Close acForm, "formname"
EndIf

Many-to-many Relationship Not Successful

Jan 18, 2005

Hi,
What looks simple is not turning out that way!
In our organisation a country may have one or more (often just two) provinces. Some provinces have one or more countries (as many as four). As an example, Philippines South province may have that part of the philippines to look after and Pakistan as well. The country (philippines) has two provinces, one north one south. The south has part of the philippines to look after plus pakistan. Clearly, then, a many-to-many relationship?
In due course I want to be able to pull out information relating to the country (e.g. Philippines) from either the north or the south province....the country info will be the same, but the province info will be different.
But I keep getting a one-to-one resulting from the following tables, which was the way I thought I'd need to create the many-to-many relationship. I'm beginning to think it mightn't be M:M after all!

COUNTRY
countryID (text type, since no names repeat)

PROVINCE
ProvinceID (text type since we use a 3 letter code eg FIN stands for Philippines North FIS for Philippines South)

COUNTRYPROV (link table)
ProvinceID
CountryID
I assumed that to relate the first two successfully, I create a link table by taking the two primary keys above and putting them into a third table, right?

But for some inexplicable reason, I can't then get PK countryID to relate to FKcountry ID one-to-many. It comes up as one-to-one. Similar when I drag PKprovince to FK province in the link table.
I'm obviously missing something very simple but what is it?
Julian

Linking An Embedded Image From A Form To All Reports And Other Forms

Mar 4, 2005

I thought this would be pretty simple, but I cannot figure out how and wasn't able find the solution here or anyway.

I have a source form. (I can resort to having a Table with OLE Object if I must, but prefer not to.) On this source form I wish to include different things such as company logo. This will determine what logo shows up in all the reports, so all the reports will have an image linking back to this embedded image on the source form.

Pseudo-code Example:
frmSource contains imgLogo
rptSample contains an image whose
control source = Forms!frmSource!imgLogo

How can I do this or achieve the same effect in a more-or-less simple way?

TIA

PHP Code:

Me.lngSCode = DLookup("[lngSchoolCode]", "[qrReadingFirstSchools]", "[lngSchoolCode]='" & Me.cboGetCode & "'")

This is working very well.Now, what I would like to do is get code as shown in the cboGetCode field to my sub form lngSCode field.

Forms :: Linking Two Unrelated Subforms To Main Form

Feb 5, 2014

I am trying to link two unrelated sub forms to a main form so I am able to query data all at once and make a report that displays all this data at once. I do not know if this is possible. I will tell you to the best of my ability about what I have going on.

My main form is a shift report. The primary key is a auto number ID. The rest of the fields are date, name, shift, vehicle. etc.

The first sub form is area attendance. Field are as follows auto number ID (primary key), report ID(which comes from the main form, linked), the area, and the area attendance.

The second sub form is the event log. Fields are as follows auto number ID (primary key), report ID(which comes from the main form, linked), time in, and events.

My relationship now is simply primary key from the shift report (the autonumber) going to the first and second subforms report ID's.

Problem is I can not query two distinct subforms like this (I realized).

How To Test If Delete Successful

I have some code to delete a record from a table, which does not delete the record, presumably because of referential integrity settings. That is fine of course, that's what should happen. However I want to be able to notify the user if a delete did not succeed. How can I check this? I tried this code, but it did not return an error.

Code:
strsql = "DELETE * FROM " & tblAddress & " WHERE GenAddressID = " & Me.tb_edtID
Err.Clear
CurrentDb.Execute (strsql)
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
MsgBox (Err.Description)
End If
